Copywrite Question

I know it's not cool (or legal) to scan in background paper, embellishments, etc to use in digi-scrapping....but I'm wondering if it's okay to scan memoribillia (such as tickets, maps, menus) to use in your scrapbook pages? Thanks!

it would seem to me that if you are doing it just for your own personal use it should be fine. if you were going to create a digi kit with them and sell that, then not so much. :)

Thanks...I'm pretty new at this and I just wasn't sure. We got a customized menu at Yachtsman when we were on our Disneymoon (with a pic of Tink on it), and I want to use it as a background on one of my pages (It has Happy Honeymoon Gregg & Kelly on it)

Absolutely okay -- copyright issues just apply when you want to sell stuff. You can't make something from your menu (or any other Disney stuff) and then offer it for sale to the public -- that would be a copyright violation. It's recommended that you scan paper goods onto acid-free paper before scrapping -- tickets, newsprint, programs, etc. -- or spray them with archival spray (which tends to be expensive). I usually use them as is, tho. I have my Mom's scrapbooks from the 1920's with the original stuff, and they're doing fine -- bad glue on some type of old kraft paper. The news clippings are the too-be-expected yellowing color, but still readable and holding together.
