Just booked our trip  (sorry couldn't resist a little dance) and the operator took my card details twice, so that they can automatically take payment on the 18th Nov. when it's due - is this usual ?
Last time I booked direct with DLP I only gave details once but that was with a Switch card and then I rang to pay the balance at the relevant time.
Is it the difference in cards possibly, can anyone shed any light on it ?

I booked over the 'phone a couple of weeks ago, using a Visa (Debit) card and the CM only took my details once.

It it normal for them to automatically take payment on the due date, however they can't do this with Switch (Maestro) cards which is why you had to ring up again last time. Not sure about them taking the details twice though, unless the system didn't save them?

Sorry I didn't say, it was a HSBC Visa debit card and this was the first phonecall today to actually book the trip, but before we even started she said I will have to take your details twice today we take £78.30 straight away and then the balance on the 18th November, which is why we need your details twice. :confused3

Going 17th - 21st we decided to share a room, me and my sister and with kids go free and free dining offers, thought we could push the boat out and stay at HNY. :goodvibes

oh well i didnt have to pay any deposit. they dont take one for irish bookings. maybe they have to enter the info on two different forms or something.

i would love to stay at the hny. lucky you.

When I booked and paid a deposit and the rest later I paid with a visa debit card and he took my card details twice. I think its different forms and just incase you want to pay on different cards. So nothing to worry about.

So jelous your staying in HNY, I want to stay there next time.

I think its the way they store the information on the system, if you're booking and paying a 10% deposit only, then paying the balance with the same card.

Both times I've phoned to book and pay the deposit only, my card details have had to be taken twice by the CM. I guess if they wrote it down the first time they asked you for the card number, you wouldn't have to give it to them the second time, but maybe they have rules about not doing that in the call centre :confused3.

Payment should've gone out on the 18th November, but isn't showing online on my bank account details.
Just rung the DLP booking line and she says payment is showing as being made in full :confused3
Do i just wait and see, does it take a while for the transaction to go through, payment is being made from a HSBC current account via a Visa debit card if that makes any difference.

I wouldn't worry Jill, I think it can take up to 7 days for the payment to show as debited from your bank account.

Thanks Elaine, got OH to have a look online and the deposit didn't go out of the account until 8 days after my initial call, so will sit tight and check again next week. :)
