It looks like we have a good group started. I know there are others- hopefully they will find this thread and post also.

Is anyone planning an excursion while in Nassua? We booked a room at Comfort Suites for Atlantis. I hope it is going to be worth it.

My friend booked a room at Atlantis today. I am so thrilled!!! So that is where we will be spending the majority of our time. I guess it was only going to be about 40 bucks more, so she thought that way we could drag our snorkel stuff and not have to keep walking back and forth between the two facilities. Ain't life grand!!!

MickeyMagic

We have a room booked at the Comfort Suites, as well. We're looking forward to a full day of fun at the Atlantis resort!

93 Days and counting... :D

should we plan a quick meet at the sailway party? Even if we only get together for a few minutes it would be great to meet everyone.

SC Minnie
07-15-2002, 08:27 AM
prymsu-

A quick meet sounds like a good idea. Anyone else?

Everyone start looking for lime green ribbons to wear! That is the only was I spotted a couple of DISers on our January cruise!:jester:

prymsu
07-15-2002, 08:48 AM
I think we should do this. I know it won't be a long meet, because this cruise is such a short one, but I would be really disapointed if I didn't get to meet some of the fellow DIS folks...

Hey. I'm not going on the Oct. 17 cruise but I am going on the Oct. 20 cruise. I was just curious on how many Minnesotan might be on the cruise because of MEA. I saw that there was 2 families from MN already. I was just curious. :p :p :p

DH and I will be there on 10-17:) we will be in the "Barb & Tony suite" I can't wait! We are staying at BWV the night before and driving to port first thing on 10-17, then after the cruise back to VWL for 3 nights......
I would love to get together to say hi at the sail away:D

Coach
07-16-2002, 05:27 PM
My DW and I tried to meet with other "DIS" members on our August 2000 cruise. We had lime green ribbons on almost everything we owned. No one had noticed nor did we notice anyone else sporting the ribbons.
My family and I think it would be a great idea to meet other "DIS" members. Just let us know when and where and we will be there with lime green ribbons on.

Coach

P.S. Is anyone doing the land/sea package? We will be at the Beach Club from 10/13 till our cruise leaves on the 17th.
The Beach Club then the Wonder...it just can't get much better!

prymsu
07-17-2002, 05:42 AM
Since this is such a short cruise with no sea days, I think the best time to meet would be right after the safety drill. Could we pick a spot (like maybe on the balcony above the Goofy family pool) to meet at the sailaway party? It is going to be hard to set a time other than that I would think...

SC Minnie
07-17-2002, 06:58 AM
How about on deck 10 say in front of or near the ESPN zone?

We met about 30 DISers and their families on the 1/19/02 Mafic. It was great meeting up with people we had been 'talking to' on the boards for a couple of weeks.

prymsu
07-17-2002, 07:09 AM

pal2pluto
07-18-2002, 04:03 PM
We'll meet up with you, too. Funny thing is.....for the January cruise we took, I helped plan the meet, and then ended up in the wrong place!!!! It was set up for above scoops, above the mickey pool......and we were so enthralled in the show going on over the goofy pool.......It took me a couple days to realize just how confused I was! This time, I won't be, though. You say Deck 10, near the ESPN Zone.....that's in front of the adult pool, right?;)

One question........we enjoyed the show on the family pool at the sailaway party. Is something going on at the adult pool during the sailaway that I missed? I don't want to miss out on the party

scduckman
07-18-2002, 04:48 PM
The ESPN Zone is in between the adult pool and the Goofy pool. The Goofy pool is where the sailaway party will take place. We can meet on the Goofy side to catch the party.

It'll be 2 -3 weeks before the cruise when we get our papers. You can make excursion ressies 60 days out.

pal2pluto
07-19-2002, 08:12 AM
THANKS!:D I want to make sure we make ressies for the Banana Boats on CC. That was the most fun thing we did in January. I think that is all we will make. We bought snorkel gear at Costco that is great! And we plan to use Nassau as an "at sea" day (a la Barb & Tony).

Where is everyone staying the night before? We will be at the Radisson at the Port, and I know that Fawn's family will also be staying there the night before...

Since this is such a short cruise, I would love to do something the night before around the pool if others are also staying there.

SC Minnie
07-24-2002, 11:39 AM
We will be a the Radisson the night before and I think MickeyMagic will also.

We had a small meet there in January. It was nice getting together before the cruise and being able to see some familiar faces at the port.

prymsu
07-24-2002, 11:57 AM
oh no. I made a mistake. I will not be at the Radisson the night before this cruise. I am getting mixed up with my January 03' cruise. I will be at HoJo in Orlando next to Sea World.

Sorry for all the confusion that I am probably causing... We are still planning to meet at the sailaway by the ESPN bar though...

pal2pluto
07-24-2002, 12:00 PM
boohoo, we are flying in the day of the cruise. I'd love to be joining you at the hotel. But we are using flight tickets we received from being bumped (voluntarily) for our January cruise, and there are just a few "hoops" to jump through. We are staying an extra day for the same reasons and plan to go to the Arabian Nights Dinner theater Sunday night.:D

No problem prymsu.

If anyone else is staying at the Radisson and want to get together for an informal meet just say so. I think MickeyMagic is meeting us by the pool so our girls can swim and catch up- they became buddies on the Jan cruise.

My DD10 and I will be on the 10-17 cruise and at the Radisson the night before. We look forward to seeing SC Minnie & family again and would love to meet anyone else staying at the Radisson.

We'll also plan on joining the meet outside of ESPN before the sailaway party. Gosh, I'm getting butterflies just mentioning the sailaway part. It's so much fun beginning a new cruise!

It sounds like many of us are also going to Atlantis, so we might run into each other there, as well. A group picture at the Atlantis might be fun...

I've been away from the boards for a bit. I had jury duty last week. I didn't get assigned to a trial, but it sure put me behind at work so I've been busy catching up this week.

Keep counting down those days!! :p

After a break from the boards to do several other things, I'm back on active duty and ready to report in.

My DW (Bonnie) and I will be on the 10/17 cruise, taking advantage of our $99 vouchers.

We are also bringing our DD and her family in another cabin (a very big distance from $99). My DD (Carie) and DSIL (hope that means son-in-law) will have our DGD10 (Emily) and DGD12 (Katie) with them. This will be their first cruise and they're getting very excited too.

We are in the early seating for dinner and will be driving to the Port the morning of the cruise.

We'll have green ribbons and will plan on meeting everyone near the ESPN Zone for the Sail Away Party.

Hi! I just booked this cruise a couple days ago as a surprise for my dh! October 13th will be our 12th wedding anniversary and I think it's important to do a little trip each year (if possible) without the kiddos! Anyway, we would love to meet at the ESPN skybox during the sailaway party! Of course, I'm just speaking for my dh since he doesn't even know about the cruise yet :D. When do you think I should tell him? I was thinking about getting one of those countdown timers, wrapping it up, and giving it to him on our anniversary date, just a couple days before the cruise! Of course then I worry that something important might be going on at his workplace and he couldn't take off work for the cruise so I don't want to wait too long! Any suggestions???

By the way, my name is Ann (Ashley) and my dh is Cliff. We have sailed on the Wonder once with our two girls (4,7) this past April and LOVED it, even though dh didn't think he would! We have three more cruises already booked with the kids: January 2 on the Wonder, April 19 on the Magic (eastern), and Christmas 2003 (western) cruise with our extended family! I think we have become cruise fanatics! The DIS board has definately been a huge help in planning these trips! Sorry for rambling!

Anyone else staying at the Radisson the night before? Any excursions planned? We have booked the Comfort Suites for Atlantis.

prymsu
08-01-2002, 07:23 AM
we have booked a room at Atlantis so we could use the pools and water slides. My generous friend is insisting on getting a room there, and paying for it, since she was able to get her cruise for $99.

We will be at HoJo by Discovery Cove the night before. I sure would love to get together with any of you staying at the Radisson in port, but that won't work for us.

I didn't realize there were going to be so many of us on this cruise. I am really starting to get excited for the date to get here.

My Countdown Clock is set for October 17 at 5pm Eastern Time.

I'm setting it for the scheduled time to leave the Port.

Here's the output from another Countdown program called 'Countdown 99' that breaks it down in more detail:

It is now Thursday 08/01/2002 at 2:09:47 PM
Event: Oct Cruise on Disney Wonder
Scheduled For 10/17/2002 05:00 PM
2 months 16 days 2 hours 50 minutes 13 seconds or
11 weekends or
77 days or
1,850 hours (1,233 waking hours) or
111,050 minutes or
6,663,012 seconds

I think my favorite is the 1,233 waking hours.

Just using my calculator, 77 days is only 21% of a year, which sounds much better, to me.

I just made my plane ressies so now I have more info on when I'll be arriving and where I'll be. We'll be flying in the night before and staying at the Hyatt at the Airport. Since it's just the two of us, we'll be taking a Disney bus to get to the port... We'll be on the first one, if I have anything to do with it! Hopefully we will be at the port by 11:30. Anyone else ever take one of the first buses from the airport so I can estimate the time of arrival at the port? I think I read that the buses start leaving the airport between 10:00 and 10:30. Is that right?
Ann

prymsu
08-05-2002, 07:47 AM
we were one of the first to be in the lobby of the Hyatt, so we got on the first bus. I think it left at something like 10:00 a.m or a little after. We were at the port in fifty minutes...first busload to get dropped off!!!

By the way, Prymsu, I just called my travel agent today (travelocity) to get the Disney transfers added onto my ressie and they told me that I can purchase them at the airport (or was it at the Hyatt???) and that I would get some info in the mail about where to meet and put luggage, etc. Was your experience similar???

prymsu
08-05-2002, 12:18 PM
no, I purchased our transfers through our TA. Not sure how you would purchase at the Hyatt. When we checked in for the bus, they looked for our names on a preprinted list...I would call DCL and see if you can maybe get them added. When we checked in, we got a letter only explaining the times to set out the luggage and the time for meeting in the lobby next morning.

Ashley24

Thanks, Sue! I think I'll do that!

Ashley24
08-06-2002, 04:49 AM
I called DCL directly (Boy, do they give you a hard time when you call them instead of your TA???) and the lady said that the transfers were listed on my ressie already. So everything should be set to go! Yeah! I am tempted to add the countdown timer for this Oct. cruise but I'm afraid that my dh will notice it and find out before I want him too! I think I will surprise him when the travel docs arrive! Also, I ordered one of those countdown clocks too! I hate trying to figure how many days are left when I haven't posted in a while. Is there a way to get to your countdown timer without looking at the bottom of a post you have written???
Also, have any of you gotten the Disney Club 50.00 onboard credit? I am trying to decide if I should join the club or not. Would I get the credit even though my ressies have been made for a few weeks or doesn't that matter???
Thanks for your help!

Ashley24, I think you you should at least hint about it to your DH for the reason of getting time off work. Its easier to get a tooth pulled then it is for my spouse to get time off work. I'm sure he will he will eventually find out anyhow, you can't hide it for ever.:jester:

Now we can have fun planning together! I can never keep a secret from him! At least he's excited about it! By the way, when is everyone's final payment due? Thanks for your help!
Ann

Yes, there are a couple or three ways you can do this.
1. You can use the 'Disney Time' countdown timer. It is freeware and written by a fellow Disney addict. You can set one Disney Event at a time and it is an application on your desktop. You can double click on it to open it without being on the Internet. It has the added benefit of showing a small one liner of Disney Trivia while it is open. This is the easiest method, after you download and install it.

2. You can use a different countdown timer called 'Countdown 99'. It is also freeware and written by a commercial company. It will allow you to have 25 events at the same time. It has the added benefit of showing several lines of data about each event. It is the second easiest.

This is the output of Countdown 99:
It is now Wednesday 08/07/2002 at 11:06:13 PM
Event: Oct Cruise on Disney Wonder
Scheduled For 10/17/2002 05:00 PM
2 months 9 days 17 hours 53 minutes 47 seconds or
10 weekends or
71 days or
1,697 hours (1,131 waking hours) or
101,873 minutes or
6,112,426 seconds

3. The most involved but also the one with the most 'intrigue' with it. You can use the countdown timer from your signature on the Dis and make a 'local webpage' on your pc that just has the countdown in it. With this method, you make an icon on your desktop that is associated with your 'local webpage'. You also do not have to be connected to the Internet to use it.

I can help you (or anyone else) with any of the three methods you'd like to use.

For method 1, you go to a web address and download the file. Then you would unzip it and install it on your desktop. Here's the link: http://pscalculator.net/pswebtools.shtml#t001

For method 2, you go to the Contact Plus website and download the file and install it. Here's the link: http://www.contactplus.com/products/freestuff/count.htm

For method 3, I'll have to devise a detailed instruction sheet for you. Basically, you go to the site that the Dis made where you created the countdowna nd you create it again, changes are Ok. You follow the established produre up to the point where you select the lines and copy them. Instead of going to your profile area on the Dis, you create a new text document on your desktop. You copy the code into the new text document and then save it. You rename the text document to be an 'html' document (a local webpage) and then save it. You double click on the new icon and it will show your countdown.

If you'd like to try method 3 or you have problems with method 1 or 2, just email or send me aprivate message and I'll try to help.

Al,
Thanks for your help with the countdown timer! I am going to print your directions and then ask Dh when he gets home to help me. He works on computers all day and your explanations should be enough for him to successfully set it up for me!

I have not gotten anything. Would this go directly to my TA? In fact, now that I think back, we never got anything like this for the seven day that we took last January...

Can someone let me know the times for parasailing at CC? What is the latest time that you can do this? Thanx in advance for any info.

scduckman
08-11-2002, 02:00 PM
The Disney excursion sheet says the parasailing starts at 9 a m and runs every hour. I would think the last one would be at 3 because everyone has to be aboard by 4:30.

Yes, the final payment was due at the time of booking since we were using our $99 vouchers. This is the first time I have actually received this in the mail. You can go to the DCL website and get the information (but I remember having to search a bit to find it).

scduckman - I cannot believe that your DW would consider doing the parasailing. If you want to join her, we'd be happy to watch your DD and take some pictures for you. Let us know...

Dh and I just made ressies for the Dolphin swim at 1:00. Anyone else doing this??? Anyone else already try this? It sounds like fun to me!
Ann

MickeyMagic
08-12-2002, 07:43 PM
Ashley24 - We did the dolphin swim back a couple years ago and loved it! Our group was my sister, her DS11, my DD9, and me. It is quite the thrill, especially when you realize you are in the water touching and playing with dolphins. The grand finale is when one or two dolphins push you across the water.

Bring your credit cards! There is a lot to buy if you want to. We bought the video and decided on buying a photo album. You need to decide beforehand if you want to buy the photo album (and I remember it was pretty pricey). The photographer makes sure to get pics of you and your group for each type of dolphin interaction and then arranges the pics in a photo album. I am so glad we decided to buy it. We look at it all the time.

We also bought the video. The thing with the video is it will include all members that were at the swim at that time of day (around 10 people). You can view it after the dolphin swim and then decide if you want to purchase it or not. It's fun to watch. You can hear some of the things people are saying in your group, so be careful what you say! Our video has a guy yelling that he was losing his suit when the dolphins were pushing him! However, there was no visual evidence of this on the video.
;)

There is also a shop with t-shirts, postcards, etc.

Let me know if you have specific questions, and I'll try to answer them.

I'm going to wait until we're onboard to book the Castaway Cay 'getaway package'. I booked thru AAA and we can get a 10% discount on ordinary rentals, as well as the free refillable drink mug, as perks.

Since they have a lot of snorkle and float equipment at Castaway Cay, I think it's safe to wait to book it. I didn't get mucj use out of it on one cruise because the weather was drizzly and a little chilly one year, so I'll also have the benefit of getting a close-in weather report before booking. On that cruise, the weather wasn't bad enough for DCL to refund the cost, but it was enough for my DW and I to not want to do it.

I am lightyears away from considering the parasail experience SCMinnie, but I admire your courage  . I think my insides would be doing too much of this : :bounce: , and the color would be accurate too.

SC Minnie, my friend and I are confirmed at the 9 a.m. parasailing excursion. We are both a little nervous, but we figure go for it!!! Why don't you try to go the same time as us, so that we can all be nervous together!!!

Also, the AAA discount is not good for parasailing, because that is considered a non-motorized sport, so we don't get a discount on that...

Hi! I just found out that I was assigned a cat 12 room. I booked with a guarantee cat 12 status and was REALLY hoping for an upgrade. Since I didn't get one, I decided to go ahead and pay for the room I REALLY wanted anyway...Navigator's Verandah! I was just checking and our ship is very full! Looks like there is only a couple of rooms left. I called today around 5:00 after seeing on travelocity's website that there were 2 cat. 7's available which haven't shown up as available for at least a week. I called to upgrade and they were already gone. Sure enough, I checked their website and there were no cat. 7's showing. Anyway, I checked again about an hour ago and there were 2 rooms on the website again. I called like mad and one was left! If I thought there would be one left when we arrived at port I would wait to upgrade to get a possibly better price but since there aren't that many of those rooms in the first place, I decided to grab it while I can.
Anyone been in one of these rooms or been on the 7th floor? We are in room 7628, which is really close to the secret verandah area at the back of the ship! Any info is appreciated! I am SO excited!

What would you do???

I'm not an 'active' expert on this anymore because I'm retired now, but I have always thought that a person needs to have a break from work now and then, and especially if you are a good worker, you deserve a reward. We all need to recharge the batteries now and then and it's great to be able to do something enjoyable and special. It isn't good if you abuse the privilege.

You shouldn't have to be in a position for your employer to make you feel guilty about taking some days off of work, and especially when they get advance notice so they can prepare for it.

The year before I retired, my manager was unhappy with me because I took time off for two short surgeries. In August I needed to have my gall bladder removed (the short version, not the long one) and then in October, I injured my knee and had to have arthroscopic surgery. He said 'well, I certainly expect that this will take care of your problems, won't it?' I said sure, unless I have another injury or illness. And by the way, I'll be taking my last two weeks of vacation at the end of December. I think he thought I should forfeit my vacation time, but fortunately, the company didn't have any such rule.

I may not have injured my knee on 'company time' but I'm very sure that my gall bladder went bad while I was working. lol

just my opinion

I'm back from a great vacation of 4 days in San Diego and 6 days in Disneyland. It's hard to believe I'll be leaving in a little over 5 weeks again. I could get used to this!

prysmu - welcome to our dinner table! A large group will be fun. It'll be nice to hear what everyone did with their day and get suggestions for the next trip! We're in 7623, just a few doors down from secret deck 7!!!;)

We have two cabins on deck 6.

We picked up the Docs from the TA at the AAA South office.

I read through them and everything seems in order. We have the two cabins we were supposed to have, we have the Main Seating for dinner.

I also checked to make sure that I have the 'AAA Diamond' page in the documents so that I can get the refillable mugs and the other discount benefits without additional hassle. On other DCL cruises, the page was missing and I had to make phone calls and go to two different locations before they would give me the mugs.

Soon I'll be seeing the sunset and then the moon over the harbor at Nassau! :teeth:

I talked to an agent at DCL about this cruise with cast member discounts, he said its highly unlikely its just about a full ship? What is going on, we have a 1 day off of school on friday but thats it? We did the same cruise in 99 wasnt full by no means.

For those of you who are counting down till your docs arrive, believe me, it’s worth the wait.

Well, I just got a phone call from our airlines....actually it was on our answering machine......re: changing flight times  I'm not sure what that means. whew!!! Good news...........they've only changed our flight times on USAir by 1 hour.....we'll be getting in by 11am! I know we are sparring with time by coming in the day of the cruise, but this is our only option right now. I think that I read on another thread that someone on Delta also had their flight times changed.....is this something the airlines do frequently?

It doesn't take long for this thread to get buried. I assume everyone has seen that the dining times have changed back to the later times. With second seating I didn't mind the earlier time change so much but I would have been very upset if we had first seating at 5:30. That's just too early for the days you're at a port.

It's been a lot of fun in the past 8 months. But after this cruise our next one isn't until March 2004 when we do the Western hopefully. We're guessing when DD will have spring break. We won't know for sure until probably April of 2003 but we went ahead and booked now.

I'm wondering how 'fancy' other 10-17-02 cruisers are planning to dress for dinner at Triton's. I'm debating between a couple dresses but neither one is terribly fancy. Mickey Magic, It is a lot more casual. However for those ever happy to take a family photo folks... there were some pretty decked out families on board!
As long as you comfortable :) On our Sept. Cruise, Phyliss (Nat's mom) and I kept joking about our "Dinner shoes" Just the right height to walk in and look all dolled up. But definately Shoes for Sitting only! 30 minutes after dinner we were scrambling for the sneaker comfort zone:)

SCDuckman.... You're really going to look like that Donald duck after this cruise! You should price out your presently booked cruise with what they are offering while we are sailing! In September they were giving some great rates if you booked while on board! I'm looking to book a Western as well! But 2004
my oldest son graduates H.S. so I'll probably try for late spring this year.
Gosh I am so psyched!

TinkerKat, we'll definitely check out what they're offering. We wanted to go ahead and book now to grab one of the secret porthole rooms. The price has jumped $300 in six weeks so I'm curious as to what they'll offer onboard.

MickeyMagic, you'll have to wait a few days for scminnie's response on Triton's. She's out of town this week so it's DD and myself for 5 days.

Who else has reservations at Comfort Suite or Atlantis? I'm starting to second-guess my decision to spend the day at Atlantis. A relaxing day on the Wonder doesn't sound like a bad idea, either. And I could use the money saved from my CS reservation for a spa treatment.

I have another post, asking for opinions on Atlantis versus staying on the Wonder. Hopefully, I'll be able to make the right decision for me after hearing advice from others.

TinkerKat
09-23-2002, 11:02 PM
Mickey Magic, this is my two cents. In September we chose NOT to go to Atlantis.

It was the best decision I made. My Three Day wonder was way more relaxing than the 7 day wonder. No TIME TAbles! Other than dinner.

It poured on Atlantis day and I gotta tell ya, DH & I were quite happy to be on the ship as we watched the billowing clouds work they way throughtout the island. Instead, we snatched up a newly vacated Hot Tub, grabbed some drinks.. and RELAXED!

This time I'm going with DS (5) and well I rather check him into Club and treat myself to Spa! One night's cost in Atlantis is two Spa treatments for me.
I guess if like Sue, I had someone to split cost of room. But I am looking forward to the SPA!

We do have a room booked at Atlantis. I am really having second thoughts about this too. I am not paying for the room. My friend Pat wanted to go there in the worst way, so she insisted, and this is her treat. I keep trying to give her subtle hints that it probably won't be worth the money, but she doesn't care. Since she has never been on a cruise before, I feel like if she really wants to do this, I am going to say OK, let's go for it, especially since she is insisting it is her treat.

There is a possibility now that I may not even be able to go on the cruise. My mother has just been diagnosed with cancer, and she is not doing well. I am really torn between going and not going.

I thought i would wait and see if closer to time she is feeling better. If not, I may have to cancel the trip altogether. Aren't i awful for not just going ahead and canceling right now...I feel like i may need this trip to prepare for the long haul. I have been working and going to school full time, so i really need the break, but now i am not so sure what to do...

Sue, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I am sure you are having a hard time coping and then also trying to decide what to do about the cruise. I don't think you're terrible for waiting to cancel the cruise. Depending upon your mother's treatment course, you may want to spend the few days on the cruise. How does your mother feel about you going?

Just before last Christmas, my brother was diagnosed with colon cancer and it was a horrible shock. The initial surgery was fairly radical and the assessment was not good. He had 6 months of chemotherapy - one treatment each month. Each month he had one week where he felt absolutely terrible, another where he wasn't up to par, and two good weeks. It got to the point where he could plan things around his good weeks. He has just returned to work and we hope all is well.

I can empathize with the devastation that comes with the diagnosis of cancer in a family member. I would wait and see what your mother wants you to do and what her treatment plan will be. And, I agree with you, you may want to take this time for yourself.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sue

I know it's really expensive to do the dolphin swim and I'm sure the price has increased since we did it back in 2000. But it is an opportunity to do one of those 'once-in-a-lifetime' thrills.

We have always treasured our memories (and video and photo album) of our dolphin swim. I have never regretted the $$ spent. But, we did the swim while on a 4-day cruise, so we still had our day at sea.

Good luck with your decision - I'm still wavering on mine! I realized I have never done a DCL cruise without a day at sea. When we were on our 3 day cruise in August 1999, we ran into a hurricane and missed our day at Nassau and spent it at sea. The next day the hurricane prevented us from going to Castaway Cay, but we were able to go to Nassau. We did a 4 day in March 2000 with a day at sea, and then the 7-day last January.

I'm starting to lean towards staying on the ship and giving up the day at Atlantis. But I don't know what DD10 will say -- I'd have to get her approval first. That Mary Kate & Ashley video set at the Atlantis might do me in though!

pal2pluto

We plan to stay on the ship for the day in Nassau. We visited there before, and I didn't lose anything there:crazy:, so there's no reason for us to leave the ship. DD (11) seems to be interested in the activities the lab has planned for that day. The trip is going to feel so short, and we want to use the ship as much as possible.

thanx to all for the kind words. I guess I will just wait a little longer to make a final decision. I know my Mom has told me several times since last week that she wants me to go, but I just want to be sure that she is feeling better. I live about forty miles from her house, and she is about ten miles from where I work, so i will be able to get over there on a daily basis and my work is being really flexible about the situation. MickyMagic- as Tom said Alysha is welcome to come with us to Atlantis and let you have some 'grown up' time. I am sure Catherine would love to have a buddy to do the fun things with. We have space for one more in our 'room' so it would not be a big deal. Just a thought -- let us know.:D

MickeyMagic

SC Minnie/scduckman - Thanks so much for the offer to take Alysha to Atlantis. Surprisingly, she is all for staying on the ship. She's talking about going to a movie and maybe doing some things at the kid's club, and maybe getting her hair braided since there will be little time for such things on this short cruise. We might go into Nassau for a hour or so for some shopping.

Also, seeing that DVC has added the Atlantis as a members getaway option, we are thinking that we might possibly trade for a week at the Atlantis sometime in the future.

We are still wavering, but at this point we are leaning towards staying on the ship. We're give it a few more days to actually decide to cancel our ressie in case we decide to stick with our original plan.

I am glad you are going still too! I hope your mom continues to feel better.
Well, I decided to cancel the parasailing and keep the swimming with dolphins. I have a question now about the adult beach at CC. Would it be better for me and dh to go there first in the AM or do the family beach first and then adult beach later. We will probably go snorkeling (did the family beach snorkeling before and wasn't overly impressed) and want to enjoy the carribean music which I know they have on the family beach. Any suggestions??? I only went to the adult beach before for a massage, ate lunch, and headed back. Is there anything special on the beach that I should know about? Music? Thanks!

Ann, I agree with Sue re: the beach info (BTW Sue.....I'm very glad you'll still be coming.......:D )

If you plan to snorkel on the Family beach, the morning is the time to enjoy it most. DH went early morning and later in afternoon and said it was so much better earlier in the day, before all the sand gets kicked up. Also, we were able to "stake out" the chairs of our choice. You'll have no problem finding a good chair on the adult beach later in the day. I remember it being so so so quiet........that we stayed only about 45 minutes and went back to the hubub of the family beach.....weird:rolleyes:

Gotta take ds(3) and dog to my parents house where they will stay for the duration.....this trip is just for dh, dd(11) and myself. I know I will pack, unpack, pack, rearrange, recheck my list, grab yet another suitcase, repack, .....well, you get the idea!;)

Two weeks from today, our vacation will be half over :(
We are going to WDW for a few days before the cruise. I can't wait to go cruising again!

SC Minnie - We will be on our way over from WDW to the Radisson at the port. We are looking forward to seeing you again!

pal2pluto - I can relate! I have so much to do in the next week and finding time is hard (soccer games, birthday parties, etc...). I keep telling myself I am going to pack light, but I am sure I will pack and repack and throw in some extra for good measure!

prysmu - I can't wait to hear about Discovery Cove. We went swimming with the dolphins in Nassau and absolutely loved it. Discovery Cove looks so neat with a full day of activities. You can tell us all about it the first night at dinner! I am so glad that it looks as if you'll be able to go on the cruise.

SC Minnie - What is your eta at the Radisson? Alysha is looking forward to swimming with Catherine that night. We have decided not to do the Kennedy Space Center this trip - we're going to wait and go with my sister and her kids sometime. So I think we can lounge around WDW for a while before going to Port Canaveral. I need to contact ******** and change my transportation times.

Anyone else going to the Radisson the night before the cruise? If so, we'd love to meet you!
