Still in early stages of a possible trip to DLRP either December/Jan time or Easter.

When say early I mean I woke up today after dreaming about it and decided with my Best friend we were gunna go :lmao: No where near to booking but thought I'd clear this up to either decide for or against this option

Anyway we're quite likely to be going straight from uni I'm in Manchester she's York - so easiest to fly from Manc.

FLybe seem to be fairly cheap £70 return each - inc taxes and charges. Just wondered if there were any extra fees we should be aware of. I'm expecting to pay for luggage etc
How are they overall? Not heard many bad things about them

Thanks :goodvibes

Flew with them in March and planning another one in January.
How were they ? Our flight was cancelled, due to fog apparently, although other aircraft were still arriving and departing, but they did put us up in the nearby Holiday Inn overnight and get us on a flight the following day.
Our flight home was also delayed but only by an hour or so and I gathered from other travellers this is quite normal for Flybe.
We will travel with them again next year despite being a budget airline they do allocate you a seat when you book and they fly from Cardiff my local airport.
Hand luggage is the usual dimensions and offhand I think 1 20kg case is about £9 each way.
Hope that helps.
Jill.

BTW when/if you book online, note that they automatically add a certain amount of baggage, you might want to amend the number of bags and they include travel insurance, you can remove it.

We flew with Flybe last year and are doing so again this year. We too went from Manchester and had absolutely no problems either on the outward or return flight. Staff were very polite and friendly, especially with my DD who had problems with her ears hurting on landing.:sad1:

I will warn you though that they use a propeller aircraft not a jet. However, they are the new type and are very carbon friendly. No problems with them at all.

You do pay for hold luggage but I think that is all. Try to take everything for both of you in one case to reduce cost. If you go online and pick your flights, continue on and it will give you the extra costs.

I'm booked to fly to LGW with them in two weeks, I cnat offer any inflight experiences with them (yet!) but they do seem to charge you to pick your seats now. I have not bothered as you can check online 24 hours before for free :thumbsup2

Ok thanks for the advice everyone :)

Think we'll definitley go with them then if we're coming from manchester/uni.

I like that you can pick your seats nothing worse then the rush on easyjet et al as everyone runs for seats!

After a number of failed attempts to fly with them, I think they should change their name to FlyMaybe!

Hi. We have flown with Flybe from Manchester three times & have never had any delays or problems. My son had the ear pressure problems aswell & again the staff were very good with him (providing him with water to sip & reassurance.....very kind)
If we were flying to Disney again (We are driving next time using Tesco clubcard vouchers via Eurotunnel) We would not hesitate to use Flybe.:)
Hope You have a great holiday.
Oh yes, We have been allocated both propeller & jet aircraft on our various journeys both were fine even though I am a very nervous flyer:scared1:
Dawn.

Whats the difference between propeller and Jet, my best friend has never flown before and is nervous to say the least. I think she'll do it, espeically as it's way cheaper and quicker then train all the way, but don't want things to be to hard for her.

I used them a couple of years ago when we went to Paris and every single one of there flights while we were at the airport was at least a couple of hours late, we spoke to someone at the desk and they said that they are always late. I would use them again though however only if I wasn't that fussed about time.

Ooooh I see, I'd be worried if I was using them to come back as we will be booked to trains etc, but we're using easyjet for the flight back as we're coming back into Luton airport.

If this happens though it would knock hours off our park time on first day which is already depleted - we're going Monday -Wednesday hopefully - christmas week so 21-23 crazy I know :scared1:

we used them manchester to paris in august and flights were on time both ways ( infact early on way out ) . We flew on the propeeler style jet and would advise asking to be at the back in friend is nervous flyer , we were toward rear on way out and found it no different to a jet aircraft , on the way home we were row 9 and suffered from vibration and noise from propelleres ( avoid rows 7 to 9 ) . The aircraft seats were two rows of two , seated about 72 altogether . checked in at airport , didnt pre book seats etc . would use again without hesitation.

I don`t really know what the difference is between the two planes:confused3 The first time I saw the propeller plane I thought "Oh no, are We going to have a bumpy ride?" but it was absolutely fine. ( I had been put off flying for years previously by a turbulent flight to Greece :scared1:)
All the flights We have had with Flybe have been fine & quick (approx 1hr 20 mins every time, much quicker than they quote) so even if Your friend isn`t keen, it will be over soon enough.

I hope they have got better than when we used them. At both Manchester & CDG all there flights were late not just ours. From Mancheter they were 3 hours late because they didn't have enough planes, and on the way back they were about 2 hours late. The delay wasn't showing on the screen and we weren't informed of it so we asked at the desk as it and the people pulled a face and said flybe never leave on time and that they were always at least an hour late, which to be fair isn't a massive delay.

Thanks for that, shall pre-book then and try and get back seats.

While we're taking planes how early do we need to be at aiports, I've got 3 hours in my head but does it really need to be this early???

I'm thinking on easyjet fly back the earlier you check in the earlier your board time is - but TBH the flights 15 minutes long so not too bothered about being together.

Not sure what to book first flights or disney package?? Or does it not matter, I'm leaving towards flights right now

I've used them with work a number of times and they were fine. We are flying to CDG with them tomorrow morning so I hope they will be as good as I remember.

Air France were 1 hour late leaving Manchester for us last year...

we have been delayed with Airfrance too, though not massively, just an hour. If it came to cost then I would fly Flybe, I was a bit put of by the comment and face the staff at CDG pulled though.

I go with Airfrance as it is cheaper with booking it as a package for me.

The difference between a propeller and jet plane is just the type of engine used. Most planes are jet planes, but some used for shorter distances have propeller engines (like a helicopter but on the wings not on top). I have had no proplems at all with propeller planes, I think they fly just a bit slower than jets but it's nothing really.

With Flybe you do get allocated with a seat number on check in whether or not you pre-book your seats. It's not like Easyjet where it's a fight to be first on the plane.

We were sat next to the propeller, slightly odd seeing them through the windows, we had 4 seats either sides of the aisle, at least we'd have been first to know if anything was wrong.
If there was noise or vibration I didn't notice it.:thumbsup2

Cityblue, is seating allocated at check in not when you book as I thought? So it makes sense to check in early then and would online check ins be allocated first ?

You can pre-book your seats when you book your flight (or anytime after that) for an extra cost. If you prefer not to pay this supplement then you are allocated seats at check-in. You can also check-in online - I think this is available 36 hours before the actual flight - but you do not get to choose your seats and the web site states that you may not get seats together. However, I believe that if you check-in online you have the option of chosing your seats but (again) at a extra cost.

I hope this makes sense!!!!

You mean 1 hour 15 minutes don't you? I always aim to be at airports for international flights (to any destination) 2 hours ahead of my flight departure time.

I've always found it cheaper to book my hotel/tickets separately from my flights, and I always use a budget airline (BMI baby is my local one for Paris).

Yeah typo there!

Okay 2 hours is ok, 3 hours always seemed pre-mature to me!
