5 Days, 4 Parks, 3 DIS-meets, 2 ADR’s, and 1 Solo DISer!
The TR has started at the end of the PTR...links are in Post #2
There isn’t much time before my next trip to WDW so this PTR will roll out the good stuff pretty fast. Besides my touring plans, I’ll be writing mostly on my random Disney vacation thoughts and such. So check back often over the next 2 ½ weeks!
If you want to know more about me and my family and the story about how I fainted on the plane last year going to Orlando the link is in my siggie.
Who: Me (Heidi) solo!
When: Wednesday 9/30 to Sunday 10/4
Where: All Star Music Resort
Why: to Celebrate Me!
When I picked my travel dates I had no idea that so many of my DIS friends were going to be in the World the same time as me. It’s such a bonus that I never expected when I decided that I need a vacation.
Disney is asking all their guests about what they are celebrating. I’m celebrating Me! My life has changed a lot in the past 5 years…and for 5 days in Disney I’m going to be Heidi. Not wife, not Mommy, but Heidi. I love my husband and kids will all my heart but I’m excited to find my lost magic.

About 90 days ago I was sitting on the couch with DH.
Me: Honey I want to go away for a long weekend.
DH: OK.
Me: Alone. Without you or the kids.
DH: Oh. ok.
Me: To Florida. To go to Disney.
DH: You'll be safe there. When do you want to go?
Me: First weekend in October.
Then I started crying. It was hard for me to ask my DH to take over all my responsiblities with the baby (4 mo. old) and a 2 yr old so I could go to Disney.
Just so you don't get the wrong impression from my crying....DH has been supportive of me going from the first minute of me letting him know that I wanted to go.

I totally hear you. When I went away with Tink, it was definitely hard, but it was so worth it. I'm a firm believer in relaxing away time, and every mother needs it. Heck, even during the week I try to take an hour for myself if I can just to destress. That's probably one of the reasons I like going to the gym and working out so much. Nobody but me to worry about!
I'm glad you decided to do this. Unselfishly because I'm happy for you and selfishly because I get to meet you! :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone!!! Thanks for joining in and posting your wonderful comments, especialy the ones that let me know you "got it" about why I'm going solo. I've decided that I just don't have enough time to reply to each of you every day (at least durning the PTR). I hope you will still post comments as I read them ALL. And of course if you post a question I'll try to answer it.
You might have notice that I'm posting in a different style....not a big post about a certain subject. I'm sort of doing it in Twitter style- quick little posts thru out the day. So you might have to scroll thru the whole thing to find them.....
PS. My spelling and gammar are not any better this time around...you've been warned ;)

Special Agent Oso. He's a cartoon bear with his own pre-school show on the Disney Channel. He's voiced by Sean Astin. Liam loves that show.
Jen the trick to the Mr P stuff is to fill every nook --filling bigger pieces with littler pieces. They also have a huge plastic container that you can fill for about $45. The box is like $20.

You my friends are getting actual scans of my touring plans. I did them in Publisher so I just can't copy and paste. I'll print each one out on heavy paper and Disneyify them with stickers (just like a 12 yo girl!). There is one for each section of my day...I'll be park hopping a lot so it made the most sense to do them this way. In the upper right corner is the 1-3 things that are must do's for me....anything else I get done that day is frosting on the cupcake of life.
The touring plan part is a guideline....I might do more than there is listed or I might do less....I might get out my red pen and change the whole dang thing. (by the way....I don't say dang in real life...just here for you and your 5 year old that might be reading along). I need a baseline plan in case I get overwhelmed and freeze up like Nichole Kidman's forehead.
The Food section is just ideas, it's not that I have to eat everything that's listed...remember that when I post section 4A! But you all like food porn so I may have to eat a lot so I can take pictures for you. Plus I'm there for Food & Wine Fest...it would be a shame if I didn't give that a better try this trip.
The Notes section is just misc. stuff that I don't want to forget or that will help make touring decisions.

Ok you can stop laughing now over the fact that I scheduled a bathroom break, there are no bathrooms on the ME buses. Speaking of ME, I had to call twice to get the correct flight info listed and I still don't have my luggage tags. And when I asked the CM how many tags I was getting...she said 2....we'll see if that's correct.
All Star Music. Not high on my places to stay. I've stayed there before -pre DH. But it was cheap and Movies was sold out for regular rooms. In fact I think all the values are booked solid while I'm there. And get this...I'm going to do online resort check-in and just take whatever room they give me. My DH doesn't believe me. I'm the Queen of having them change our room. Now if the room isn't clean or something doesnt work....then all bets are off.
Oh and I hope not to faint on the plane this time. I think I'll download a movie or tv show(s) to my iPod so I can concentrate on that during the flight.

I'm trying to make the most of my arrival day so it's off to Epcot after I check-in at the resort.
There are lots of F&W booths in the area of Mexico that I'm interested in so that will be dinner.
I'm not planning on watching Illuminations this night but I'll keep going to attractions/countries right thru it. And it's possible that I get my first DIS-Meet with jenjolt, Iluvcrush and 2excited2sleep this night. Unless I ditch Epcot for DHS to get my TSM ride on. It's gonna be so nice to change plans within minutes of wanting to!

WOW you are so organized!! :worship::worship:You know where the booths you want to eat are??? That is amazing!! I figured I would just wander around now I'm thinking I need to learn up on my booths!! I am so failing at knowing about Food and Wine Festival LOL!!!!
What is this about a National Treasures Exhibit...can you expand on this?? This sounds very very interesting to me!!!
I do hope we can meet up just to say hi, however I also know the appeal of TSM and a park at night is always a lot of fun!!!!!!

I have last year's map of the food and wine booths so that helps :thumbsup2
I don't know much about the NT Exhibit except that it has different things from America's history like one of Abe Lincoln's hats. I know I have seen it in a TR....I just can't remember who's TR.
Just give me a call after your dinner that night and we can compare plans for the rest of the evening. If I'm headed to DHS I might be able to meet you all at the YC on the way.

At this time two weeks from tonight I hope to be getting some much needed sleep before my early morning flight to Orlando.
Can you believe that before this past weekend, only DH and one friend knew I was going to Disney....if you don't count all of you here on the DIS!
Got my little somethings that I can't talk about all packaged up tonight and ready for the suitcase!
And I started to gather all my bathroom stuff together, plus stuff for the first aid kit and OTC meds.

I don't know how I missed this! I saw it on my BB Storm at the salon, but couldn't figure out how to post (Tuesdays are salon days in my world :lmao:).
Your plans are amazing! I WISH I could be that organized. You should consider a home-based business, where you help people plan Disney vacays. I'm sure yours would be so much better than a certain Mike :rolleyes1
I think a solo trip is great. All moms should get to do that. I can't even imagine what it's like to be responsible for someone else 24 hours a day. You definitely deserve it.
I hope you're able to get the Alice teapot for your daughter. When she gets older, she can do that tea party at the GF.
Alice in Wonderland was on the table as our third grade production this year. I wish we picked it. Instead, we're doing The Wizard of Oz, which I also love, and have been trying to decide how we're going to rig the flying monkeys :scared1:
You must post pics of your Mr. Potato Head parts in a box. I think you should have a DIS tutorial.

The first part of day 2 is all about the shopping. In real life I don't shop much. But put me in Disney and I go wild.
When you see the word "Foundation" in the touring plan below please replace it with "The Fountain". I must have been thinking of our new addition to the house when I typed that.

My lunch and lounge plans have changed like 3 times already....and still might when I get down there. I want to have lunch at a deluxe resort and hang out on their beach or by the pool for a few hours. But I really want to have some quiet time (read that as nap) before the MNSSHP that night and I don't want to be traveling to and fro all day, hence why I'm not meeting the ladies at the Grand Floridian for a quick meet. And just in case you were wondering there is an alternate plan to the alternate plan......it's to head over to AKL.
Didn't want you to think I was getting soft in my OCD planning ways ;)
This morning/early afternoon will be changed as needed based on how I'm feeling about shopping that day. God I love going by myself already!

I was going to go to the GF Cafe but then I decided that going out to the monorail resorts by bus from DTD, then back to ASMu was going to waste too much time. I have a feeling that I'll just end up back at ASMu to read my book with a cocktail before my nap.

As you can see I have mapped out my travels thru MK for the MNSSHP. The attractions listed are just the minimum that I want to do. I might have to talk someone into riding Dumbo with me since it might be the last time I can before it's changed. That goes double for Goofy's Barnstormer. I've never riden it and would like to do so before it's make-over.
After HalloWishes we have a big DIS-Meet planned at POTC, then I think most of us are catching the 2nd parade together. I found some fun toys in my Halloween stash that I'm bringing so we can entertain ourselves! After that I'm pretty sure that atleast Jen and I will mix and mingle with the Villains. And to end the night I have 4 words...."Midnight Haunted Mansion Ride!"
I'm still trying to nag Jackie into going to the party that night. Come on Jackie all the cool kids are doing it........:rotfl2:

There is a hair clip that works better than bobby pins. I have a picture of them with all my travel aisle purchases that I'll try to post this weekend so you can see them. There is NO way I can give up my excel spreadsheet. A girls needs multiple tabs! I'd have an anxiety attack for sure. But I love the look of your plan and am all over text boxes! I can definitely do that, even on the small scale of the planner I use. I really love the way you call out a couple of key things. Much nicer than my task lists! lol.
Besides...it will all STILL be in outlook, on my phone!

Couple notes:
So bummed that Flights of Wonder is closed. I had based my whole origianl touring plan on seeing it in the morning.
I have no desire to see the parade. ever. again. It's not as bad as the Tapestry of Dreams parade that I saw in 2002 at Epcot, but it's close.
I haven't seen the Nemo show since it was Brand New. So new that we couldn't take pictures of it when we saw it. I'm interested to see if it's changed.
Mid afternoon I'm going to try to get into the Yak and Yeti as a walk up for dessert.
Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle $7.99
It might not be pretty if I don't get in <insert smilie of getting dragged away to Mickey jail>
And I do believe that Jen, Paula and Christine will be wandering about AK this day as well so I hope to run into them as well.
One question: Does anyone have first hand knowledge of the following
#1 At rope drop is it quicker to go thru Asia or Dinoland to get to EE?
#2 Are they still doing the centralized FastPasses at ITTBAB?

You mean just a new show with Stacy, right? We had that new one in May too. I like the other better, it's a lot shorter! I agree with the news, just ban it....along with the weather channel. :rolleyes1
Can't ban the weather, I need to know if I need a rain jacket that day or just a poncho in my bag. But news I think will be banned. I always wonder if the DISer's who are dying to move to Orlando ever watch the local news while they are there.....awful lot of crime being reported. There always seems to be a shooting while we are there.

I barely watch news in real life, so I flat out refuse to watch it on vacation. The only news I want to know is what time my park is closing and when the parades and fireworks are scheduled. ;)

Ok you can stop laughing now over the fact that I scheduled a bathroom break, there are no bathrooms on the ME buses.
Okay, I was soo just going to read and then make a comment at the end, but this stopped me dead in mu tracks, Heidi! Really? A potty break?!? :rotfl2: I laugh not because you scheduled it, because that is all understandable. I laugh because the fact I had NOT scheduled potty breaks and my BIL who thought my touring plans were crazy reminded me to schedule them (he was being a smart aleck) caused a bit of strife last October.
I totally get the trip by yourself. I was gonna do this until free dining came out for December and I wanted the kids to go. It was actually for the same dates you have, so I feel like a great person got my trip for a greater need! Enjoy yourself--celebrate Heidi--you deserve it!!!

I was lucky that I got to nip any tour planning complaining in the bud with DH on our first trip. We had gone to MK and riden Peter Pan per the touring plan earlier in the week and walked on. Later in the week we returned to MK with no plan - just to do whatever (which was the plan :lmao:). Well, we walked by Peter Pan at like 2pm and the que was full. I didn't even have to say anything, he understood why touring plans are needed just be looking at that line.
As far as bathrooms go....not all are created equal at Disney that's for sure! I know, I've been pregnant the last 2 trips :scared1:

Oh and I caught up with most of your PTR's/TR's this morning while I was feeding Danica x2 so I couldn't type....sorry not to be able to leave a comment.

The only thing I have to add under #7 is seeing Muppets 3D....they are slightly updating it with a new pre-show and digital 3D for the main movie so I'd like to see it before the change.

Please say hi if you see me. Have a great trip!!!
I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. :hug:Thanks.
Loving your PTR and I can't wait for your TR! I am reading your TR from 2008 trip. I must say, it is really scaring me out of going with my 1 yr old. I'm seriously thinking of postponing WDW until she is at least 2 yrs old. My dd5 first went when she was almost 3 and it was great.
It would be really hard for me to stay away from WDW for 1 1/2 years though!
Think of my 2008 TR as a cautionary tale that it might not be all pixie dust and sunshine. But it might go beautifully....just plan for both.
Not to hijack but I think it depends on the kid. My youngest was a nightmare at 26 months.... It's just a different trip and you really need to plan for that.
I agree. Had we gone when Liam was 12 months we might have been fine, at 24 months it would have been worst that it was at 18 months.
hope those tags come soon....and you are feeling better :goodvibes Thanks
Very cute bag...may have to look into it....:rolleyes1It's a great bag....many colors to pick if pink plaid is not your thing ;)

Thanks for all the get well wishes. I feel a bit better but really run-down. I had planned on going to bed last night at 730pm but as luck would have it, DH didn't get home from work until almost 9pm last night. Ugh. I was in bed shortly after that thou. I think it's the change in the seasons around here. I think TK made mention of that when she was sick last week. I plan to get to bed early from now until I leave for WDW.
Yesterday I was able to get the printing done for my Food & Guide Booth guides. I have to do some old school cutting and taping today to finish them but that will be quicker then getting things formatted correctly in the computer.
Also yesterday, TK's ptr reminded me to transfer $ to my Disney rewards card. Going down this trip with $153! That will pay for my MNSSHP ticket and lots of F&W stuff!!!!
Today I had to work at my PT bookkeeping job so I was able to print my mousekeeping envelopes and F&W booth maps on the color laser printer. Have to put those together today.
Wish me luck when I go out to the mail box today! :wizard:

I walked back from my mailbox muttering and struttering like Donald Duck!
Why did I give Disney the benefit of doubt and wait until I leave in 8 days to call for my ME tags????
I got the direct line to the ME dept from the transportation boards.....here it is for you.... 1-866-599-0951
So I call. They don't have my ME ressies in their system.
Me: "WHAT? I called twice already to change flight information."
CM: Did you call CRO?
Me: Yes.
CM: Seems like their computer system didn't update to ours.
CM takes all my info and enters it.
CM: Ok we'll be mailing you out the ME package to <insert my address here>
Me: Will that be going out in today's or tomorrows mail?
CM: No that's not how it works. Our computer will send the information to the printing vendor's computer tomorrow and then they will take 3 days to print it and mail it.
Now I'm hoping that it's "up to 3 days" for the package to be printed and mailed and it goes out sooner. I have to have it next Tuesday or I'm screwed and have to handle my luggage myself or have the ME staff collect my bags from baggage claim (don't think that's gonna happen.)
I'm PO'd at myself for not calling sooner....like 2 weeks ago. And I'm not happy that the biggest media corp. in the world has such a crappy computer system.

I had to laugh at your planning cards. You and my brother would get along great. We all had a set of similar itineraries for our last trip that he had laminated and ready for us. I won't even mention his nearly minute by minute driving itinerary from our 2006 trip. I had to add that one to my scrapbook because it was just too crazy.

This is the master sheet for traveling on Day 5, my last day. I will have another sheet(s) for my actual park touring for this day.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/PTR/M-O.jpg
I decided that for $10 it was worth it to me to pay Southwest to automatically check me in for my return flight 36 hours before departure. I'll just get a boarding pass printed sometime this day before heading to the airport. Couple notes: I wasn't able to use my flight credit to pay for it....had to use credit card. You pick which flights (to or fro or both) and who in your party wants to do it.

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/PTR/M-I.jpg
I've changed the sheet a little after I scanned it. Now it has an empty box in the middle so I can write in a little plan for touring based on what I was able to do/see on my first AK visit on Friday.

Here's the other plans for my last day. If I decide to go to MK instead of AK, then I'm going to try to get a walk up breakfast at 'Ohana's. If I can't then I'll just go to the GF Cafe. I have an ADR for lunch at the Plaza Restaurant ....only time will tell if I keep it. I might do a monorail lunch tour if I don't want to eat in the park.....Lunch and Lounge I call it. Lounge has double meaning in this case.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/PTR/M-II.jpg
Again I redesigned this sheet so there is a place in the middle for me to write out a little attraction plan.
I also have plan III in the back of my head. I may feel like not doing much of anything on my last day. If that's the case I think I will find my way to a resort with a beach and relax in the sun with a book and a beverage! Ahhhhh...sounds good to me right now.
Off to bed to get some much needed sleep. Back to the To Do List tomorrow as I want everything but packing done before Friday!

I love that number one on the master sheet is to get home safe! I concur!! :goodvibes
Nothing wrong with the possibility of sitting on a beach and relaxing on your last day. That's the thing I think is so great about going solo! No one to please but yourself.
I've been debating whether or not to sign us up for the automated check in with Southwest. Our flight out the day we leave is at 515, and 24 hours before that we'll be heading to our Brown Derby dinner at 545. Even if I were at one of the closer resorts, I doubt we'd be able to print passes for everyone at 515 and make it in time. It would be cutting it so close. Not sure what to do.
Anyway, I've loved reading the plans, and I'm really looking forward to meeting you. :goodvibes

Coulpe funny "disney" things from this morning to share.
I smelled Disney in my house this morning....I don't know what it was but I got a whiff of something and it reminded me of Disney. Nice.
As some of you know, my DS Liam has a speech delay. He has words but he really doesn't talk.....but he knows all his numbers 1 thru 10. Mowwing the lawn is my one outside chore....we have close to 2 acres so we have a riding lawn mower. I acutally really like mowing the lawn. I listen to a disney podcast(s) the whole time. It's takes about 1 1/2 hours to do out in the sunshine :goodvibes

Online ckeck-in was a breeze. All you need is your confirmation number and a credit card. Be aware of a couple of things... by using online check-in you are agreeing to have charging privileges on your KTTW cards and you agree to express check-out. The credit card you use for the online check-in is the one that will be charged.
They ask for your cel phone number, I assume to call you when your room is ready if it's not when you pick up your folder and KTTW cards.
They ask you what time you will arrive and what time you will leave on your last day.
You can add up to 2 room requests, your choices are: Pack n Play --- Ground Floor -----or Near Transportation. I assume they can still see any requests that you had made prior with a CM on the phone.
(I didn't request anything and my DH still doesn't believe me :rotfl2:)

Yes, basically they will just re-do your KTTW cards, but I would like that could only be done at the resort because of the door lock software (I assume you are not doing online check in then because that would defeat the whole purpose of it)
I love your fortune! Do you think MNSSHP qualifies as having strange customs? ;)
I've never been but I bet we'll be making up our own strange customs!!
I saw Sleeping Beauty with my dad in the theater when it was rereleased sometime in the 1980's -- one of my favorites for that very reason.
I just love how un-PC old Disney movies are....like that guy that gets drunk :lmao:
What time on Thursday do you think you will be arriving at CBR???

It was definitely a plus that it was raining -- we were stuck inside all day long -- I pulled out suitcases and started making piles -- made a to-do list of errands to do each day after school -- stuff like that.
I may just do paper tickets and call it good. I would like to do the online check-in from the standpoint that my room might be ready when we arrive.
The un-PC portions are always hysterical to me!
I am hoping we get there about one or two -- I want us up and out before the sun is even thinking about rising Thursday morning.

Our tickets were not on our key cards last year and it made no difference. If you get the paper tickets then you can scrapbook them or put them in the photo album.

Good point.
I am hoping to have MNSSHP tickets to scrapbook as well. A couple of days ago, Charles said to me, "They've probably reopened Space Mountain, and you are holding out on me." Do you know how hard it was for me not to lie outright and say to him, "Well, I have heard a rumor that it might be open during MNSSHP?" :lmao: I figured I would be in sooo much trouble if I tried to pull a stunt like that. :rotfl2:

I laughed out loud when I read that! Do you think Charles would believe that the Tomorrowland Noodle Station was just as good as Teppan Edo? :lmao:

Heidi, since you a planning Yoda I'm sure you'll have an answer to my question. When does MNSSHP begin? Early September? I'd LOVE to go next fall and have a nice 4 day weekend in the beginning of September b/c of Rosh Hashanah. I'm thinking something quick and cheap.
Are you planning on taking Liam and Danica next year?

OK, how odd is this? Just got a friend request on Facebook from a girl that I went to school with (elem., jr. high, high school with). I was very happy she got in touch with me....now for the odd part. Guess who she works for!?! WDW. I don't have any deets other than she works for the Walt Disney Co. in "labor management". And a couple pictures had her husband wearing a chef's coat from Spoodles. Small world huh?

You've had a busy weekend.
It's so great to reconnect with people on FB. And you can ignore people you don't want to reconnect with :lmao:

I swear some people collect Facebook friends like they were trading cards. I keep getting requests from women that I didn't really know in high school....didn't have classes together, didn't socialize together, weren't in any clubs/sports together. One girl I have ignored no less than 10 times now. I have no idea who she is. Doesn't have her maiden name posted. Since she can't take the hint the next time I'm blocking her.

That's pretty neat about the girl from high school working at WDW now -- I wonder what labor management is exactly -- like human resource, maybe?

Not sure if you've solved the issue of syncing your rented movie to your iPod... but here's a link to the Apple website for a video tutorial of how to do it. You'll need Quicktime to see the video. Hope this helps: Sync to your iPod (http://www.apple.com/itunes/how-to/#video-sync)
If that's not the right video, look at the other videos that are there as well. Good Luck! And happy 2 days!!!! :yay:
