I think your plan for the day sounds great... I just hope you can get the first 'B' taken care of!! popcorn::

I know! After 10am is really late for me not to have had breakfast yet!!

:confused3 UH ROH... (that's Scrappie-Do talking )

what ADR's did you cancel?

did you get the cute towel cake in your room?

good cliffhanger...but please tell us more!

J~

I had an 8am ADR for the Tusker House breakfast at AK and a lunch ADR for the Plaza at MK

Yes that little towel cake was in my room when I got back the night before.

(And BOO! for the last day!)

Kathy

It's been 6 months since the trip and the trip was only 5 days long...time to wrap this puppy up!!

Did you decide to head to Captain Cook's? Or did you head back to the Grand Floridian? Hmmmm...

Yes and Yes. :rolleyes1

Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks................

Most likely GF was your destination, never a bad choice.

Tonga Toast is the better deal at Capt Cooks, then Kona....but maybe GF would be more relaxing :rolleyes1

I love taking the boats when at Disney. I love taking them when I get a chance.

I'm guessing you ended up at Captain Cooks.
I sure did take a lot of boat rides that day.... :rolleyes1

Another guess for Kona, Heidi. I wouldn't have thought you'd have had a problem getting in at 'Ohana! :confused3

I don't think you can get into 'Ohana's at any point now without an ADR.

I loved all your pictures. It is great that you could throw out your plans and just do whatever. It was....and I have great memories of this day.

Your solo touring sounds much like mine was...relax, relax, relax.......

And it gets better!

The 3 Bs on the last day sound lovely :cloud9:
I'm guessing you tried Kona.

I think if I would have set out later for my day it would have been slightly different B's....beach, book, booze!

No Kona.

Did you head to Kona? I hope that you get your beach/book time in!

I think I might have.......

Last Day….Sunday October 4, 2009

The Grand Floridian Café is always my back-up plan when in the MK area because you can usually get a table with no ADR and very little wait. So on the Monorail I went to the Grand Flo.

I was seated within minutes and had a fabulous breakfast…one I hope to get again sometime soon. Filets, egg frittata, breakfast potatoes and the most delish creamy sauce for the steak.

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409566.jpg

And here is where I spent most of the rest of my day. Sitting on the beach reading my book. I had the place to myself. It was a wonderful way to end my getaway to Disney!

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409567.jpg

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409569.jpg

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409570.jpg

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409571.jpg

About 1pm I went inside to do a little shopping as I was still looking for that Stitch plushie…and lo and behold I found it at M. Mouse Mercantile of all places!

Here’s some of the new marble tile that they were working on last fall. Very cool.

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409572.jpg

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409573.jpg

With time ticking away before my ME bus departed, I once again got on the boat heading to the Poly…..I had one more thing I had to do while I was in Disney.

Hello my Sweet!
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409574.jpg

You gotta love self-serve Dole Whip!! Only $3.00 for that baby. I enjoyed it in the pretty lobby as Captain Cooks has a tiny seating area
.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409575.jpg

It was now 2pm and my bus left from Music at 255pm….I was a little pressed for time so I decided to grab a taxi from the Poly to AS Music. $18 (w/tip) and plenty of time to spare I was sitting outside waiting for my bus back to the real world.

I'm not quite done yet....I have shopping pictures to share, a mini life update and some final thoughts....all coming up in the next week or so ~Heidi

The GF beach was so quiet that day, a Sunday. Next time I'll try the beach at the Poly.

Shopping Time!

Sweatshirt for Danica (it’s too big for her now, but that’s OK)

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409577.jpg

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409578.jpg

Baby Tink for Danica …she loves it!
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409579.jpg

Popcorn bucket….which I still use for my microwave popcorn at home (FYI…it doesn’t even hold a full bag!)

EDITED: I deleted the picture of the popcorn bucket because I had 26 pictures and you can only have 25 in one post....so imagine a Halloween theme popcorn bucket.

I actually was able to find a couple t shirts for me this time in the “big” girl section at World of Disney. (I don’t have a picture of the other one- it’s a sketch of Mickey on Main St.)

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409581.jpg

Limited Edition Pluto…this was a bit expensive and I probably shouldn’t have bought it.

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409582.jpg

Yeti that hangs out on my fridge.

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409583.jpg

Plaid mini-bag….so me! Love this for organizing coupons when I go to the grocery store.

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409584.jpg

This was my big special purchase at TrenD. My recycled hand bag made out of coconut patty wrappers! I so love this bag and have already used it for a wedding that I went to in January.

T-shirt for Liam
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409586.jpg

I had a hard time finding a t-shirt for DH this trip…I ended up getting him this workout shirt that has a small Mickey logo.

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409587.jpg

Pink t-shirt for Danica to wear this summer (edited: she wore it yesterday!)

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409589.jpg

I love these soft little toys for babies and toddlers. Danica loves them too!

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409590.jpg

More plates from Japan for my collection and trainer chop sticks for DH

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409591.jpg

I have to get a Christmas ornament each trip….here’s this trip’s winner! Behind it--the little yellow bag opens up to a bigger shopping bag.

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409592.jpg

Here’s my Mary Poppins mug that I love to drink coffee from and the Mickey mug that I got to replace our Mickey Mouse toothbrush holder that Liam broke. Not long after I got home from this trip, Liam broke the Mickey q-tip holder. Ugh! But it turned out OK because my SIL got me a Mickey mug for Christmas that is prefect for q-tips!

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/MRYPPNS/Disney%202009/10042009/100409596.jpg

This is Danica’s tea set.

I try to really limit what I buy when I am at WDW, but I came home with a Tink birdbath/feeder from the Flower Festival at Epcot. I love it.:lovestruc

There were several sizes and several different "wrapper" to choose from in those bags at TrenD...BUT...... the supply actually seemed to be small for Disney. It was one of the few items at TrenD that I didn't see in other stores.

The Wrap UP!

First I want to thank everyone for reading and making comments here. No one in the “real” world wants to here every detail of my Disney vacations so it’s nice to be able to share that somewhere.

Mini- life update.

The addition to the house is coming along….I think by fall it should be complete. DH has to do a huge drainage project outside in late spring/early summer…….we already had two trees removed in preparation for it.

If you can believe it, Danica is turning 1 next month! Her birthday party will be a theme of ladybugs and flowers. And I need to get cracking on those flowers as I am making about 50 paper flowers for decoration. She is already walking and getting ready to take on the world. She’s a truly joyous child!

Liam turns 3 next month….where has time gone??? I’ve mentioned in other posts about his delays in speech and that we were taking him to a specialist. Well he was diagnosed with Autism (ASD) last month. We’ve gotten him more services at home and next month he will start pre-school in our public school system. Actually today we go for his IEP meeting. Everyone that has seen him professionally thinks that he has a lot of strengths and that he will come along really well. And we will try to help him the best that we can.

Disney-wise, DH and I have been talking about returning to WDW with the kids in the spring of 2011. Two words: Road Trip. Driving from NH to Florida with 2 little kids will be an adventure but the idea of flying with them scares me more LOL !!
Dose anyone know when you can start booking WDW resorts for next spring??

Final Thoughts about the trip.

I really needed that trip. And I’ll need another too….I know that. The trip helped me remember that I can do things like travel on my own, and that feels good. And it was nice to only be responsible for myself….that really took a load off and allowed me to relax….even if it was for a couple days.

And I also got a taste of touring in a different style….it was really nice not to have ADR’s dictating a schedule. (If that dessert party at MK hadn’t been pre-paid, I would have gone to Epcot that night instead.) And I really got to enjoy the parks and the resorts in a different way, and because of that I know that we can figure out a way to have a great vacation with both kids next year (if we do end up going).

And let’s not forget about all the great DISer’s that I met on this trip. Going solo but getting to hang up with friends at the same time has to be the best part!

…..Oh and that Grey Goose slushie wasn’t bad either :rolleyes1

no one in the "real" word :lmao:

I know that...even people I know who like Disney don't quite get that already have 3 trips beyond the Nov 2010 one in the "works" :rolleyes1

I have most enjoyed this little well really big adventure of yours and it did inspire me to make plans for one of these solo trips...well not exactly solo, but solo from my husband and kids ;)

It was so much fun to look at everything in a great and different perspective that I don't think I ever appreciated before.

Love that you are ready to take the plunge again (hopefully) next yr and go w/ your kiddos again. My guess would be August of this yr? :confused3 to start booking...

Happy pre-birthday to Danica :cutie:

see you on the boards and FB for sure.

Let me know how the IEP meet goes! :thumbsup2

Great wrap-up, Heidi!!! I can't believe that Danica is almost a year old! I hope we get to see pictures of the b-day party!

Good luck at Liam's IEP meeting today!

It was great meeting you and getting to hang out for awhile! I hope we get to do it again sometime! :goodvibes

Hi Heidi! I'm so glad to hear you want to plan a trip back next year. I think Liam will do much better next year, being older & now that you have a better sense of his needs & challenges.

Good Luck with the IEP meeting!! And  for sharing the ASD diagnosis here on the boards. It's such a supportive environment here.

Happy Birthday to Danica! The party theme sounds great! :hippie:

Count me among those who can't believe that Danica is ready to turn one year old and that Liam is starting preschool soon! It's amazing how fast those kiddos grow.

I'm really glad that you got to take this trip, for yourself. Selfishly, I'm also glad I got to meet you, and I don't think I'll ever forget exactly how we met in the Magic Kingdom during MNSSHP. It definitely ranks as my funniest unintentional DIS meet ever.

You give me a lot of food for thought about taking my own solo trip someday, and I'm grateful for the way that you share your experiences.

Thanks so much for writing this.

I've enjoyed reading your tr Heidi :goodvibes
I hope everything went well at Liam's IEP meeting.
I think you can book room-only now for next year, but it'll be at the highest 2010 rate. Once the 2011 rates are out, they just adjust your reservation.
A road trip sounds like lots of fun.

I think we will be planning a bit differently for Liam on this next trip but I also have to remember that Danica should be given the chance to experience Disney to the best of her ablity.

Hmmm... I read your wrap-up a couple of days ago; I thought that I had replied! :confused3

Anyway, I'm very, very glad that you had the chance to make this solo trip in order to get your Disney "groove" back!

I loved your report and am looking forward to the next one.

PM me anytime regarding Liam... :grouphug:

That's a really important thing to remember!! :thumbsup2 It took us a long time to figure that one out... For the longest time Zachary was dragged around to things that Alex could/would do & probably missed out on some things that he could have been doing. We try to find the right balance of things that they both enjoy & things that they tolerate for the other.
