... for news of this World Championship - not so much as a mention in the Sports Section...... all taken up with the Wimbledon finals..... nothing in the main section....... and not one word, not a single syllable about the World Wife Carrying Championship held in Finland on Saturday.

Before you 'click' off dear reader, I have to tell you that the winner of this race wins...... his wife's weight in beer!!
Ah! Now I have your attention don't I? ( And you know who you are..... and so do we!!)

:) Shirley - now I've finally stopped laughing, Darryl would be absolutely plastered if he won my weight in beer . . . but I'm sure he would find it a lovely way to go . . . ;)

Love the idea, but the chances of me carrying Tam for any distance are remote in the extreme.

I'm not sure if that says more about me or her!

By the way Shirley, I never knew you are fluent in Finnish!

oooooooerrrrrr - I can only get a link to their main page but Kevin, if you click on the subheading on the left that says 'wife carrying', it will take you to a page written in English and a full explanation of this "sport"!!!
