Cable Car: If you want to take a cable car, let me suggest doing so northbound. The waits southbound can be much longer, so I like to use the F line streetcar in that direction. Additionally, from the F line's Stockton stop you can get bus 39 which will take you to Coit Tower for a nice view of this part of the city.
Bicycle Riding: There are several bicycle rental firms near Fisherman's Wharf. Rent a bike, and ride 10 miles or so to Sausalito, enjoy a little time in that charming town, then take a ferry back to San Fran. It looks like a fun ride, the ferry ride is beautiful, Sausalito is a great town to visit, and riding across the Golden Gate Bridge is probably a unique experience.

Just the thought of bringing the WONDER into Alaska for the first time is exciting!!! :yay: :woohoo: :yay:
Actually, that is the repositioning cruise from CA to Vancouver. The 6 night cruise. The first sailing from Vancouver to Alaska and back is on May 3rd.
Just incase you really want to see Alaska, you don't want to be on the 4/27 cuise!

Bringing the Wonder to Canada? As Canadians and Disney Cruise Lovers, my wife (LuvBaloo) just have to be on this cruise.
We are also hoping to do the B2B and take her on up to Alaska on May 3rd as well.

WOW.... guess that will weed out those who aren't really serious....
If the deposit is $600pp..... man, what are the prices going to be ???
I've been doing some research of other lines with similar itinerary... early May being the least expensive time on most other lines.... but I have a feeling Disney is not going to be that way. At a starting point of $939 for a Cat 12.... that's already almost double what other lines charge for an inside room at that time of year. And it doesn't include Glacier Bay!

IF it is $600 per person, then we may have to rethink this whole thing through. That's going to $4800 outlay right off the bat and it isn't the best of time for us to shell out that kind of $$

I'd book for just you and Shannon and then add the girls later...
I highly doubt that either of these 2 cruises will be sold out... school's still in session and unlike the PC repo... they can do Alaska anytime during the summer...

That's an idea I hadn't thought of. That would make it doable. My sister was able to add her boyfriend really late to the Panama cruise so I can't see this one being any worse.
However, I was just on the DCL site and I punched in a 7 night Caribbean cruise for April of 2010 just to get an idea on costs. When I got to the point to lay down the deposit, despite me having entered all 4 of us, it only asked for $500 TOTAL for a deposit.
I'm wondering if the deposit is going to be $600 per stateroom rather than per guest? If that is the case then that is certainly doable!!

The only problem with booking only you and Shannon is the kids clubs... they have to reserve the spaces... but on these cruises I don't think it's gonna be a problem... they won't sell out like the pc did... Even on the PC it was sold, but they said they weren't at full capacity cause lots of people only booked single people in cabins...

DON'T DO THAT!!Did that once and learned my lesson.....
If you try to add the kids later on, DCL will consider that a rebooking and will let you keep your stateroom and add them, but only at the CURRENT DAY'S PRICING! You can ALWAYS cancel the third and fourth person in the stateroom and you are not penalized and you keep the price you originally booked at, but if you do that the other way around, you will pay that day's price when you add them.
It cost me more $$ by doing it that way.......Have always booked extra since then and taken off instead.

No, it is the current price for all 4 people. So if you are thinking of having 4, book 4 and then cancel later or you will pay the higher price for all 4 guests.

No, it is the current price for all 4 people. So if you are thinking of having 4, book 4 and then cancel later or you will pay the higher price for all 4 guests.
Thanks Linda.
I guess we'll decide next week, which cruises we'll be booking.

UNPREDICTABLE!
When we went in May on Holland America back in the 90's we were told that was the temperature and that it would rain probably every day.
It was unseasonably warm and I remember one day it was 78 degrees. We only had one afternoon of a light drizzle for about 2 hours, the rest of the time it was beautiful.
My suggestion.....layered clothing.

Hello!
Tentatively add us to the list. As silvers, we're not booked yet, but we've got our request in to DU! :cool1: It's just the two of us (Brandi & Chad), sailing for our 10-year anniv.
Initially, we thought about Alaska, but frankly the pricing of the balconies made me lose sight temporarily in my left eye. Though I think DH will be sad about not getting to pan for gold ;)
The repo itinerary looks great! One or both of us have been to most of the ports, which actually encourages us more. S. Cal - yaaay! SF- goooood, Vancouver - bueno! Though the question is what days to add before and/or after. I've never been to S. Cal and am dying to visit Disneyland, and DH would love to kill a few days in San Diego. But I've been to Vancouver and think DH would find it amazing. Decisions, decisions.
Phew...am I really thinking this far ahead and the cruise isn't even booked yet? :rotfl:

Oh all you folks who are CLEARLY not from Rochester, NY!! :rotfl2: The weather in Alaska in May is going to feel like a balmy Spring day for us!! OK, well that's probably stretching the truth a bit...BUT....our winter clothes by late April/early May will only have been packed up for a few weeks as our "winter" doesn't feel like it really ends here until mid to late March at least (last year it snowed here in the first week of April). So while it's uncommon for me and Jason to vacation somewhere where it isn't warm (which isn't a shock since about the only place we vacation is WDW :rotfl:), the weather won't be too big an issue for us....it just means we'll spend less time sunbathing on Deck 10!! :thumbsup2

In Ontario, huh? We're kinda almost neighbors! We go into Ontario frequently for weekend trips up to Toronto! :) (although i fyou're in southwest Ontario I gather you're probably farther down towards Michigan? My parents live in the UP of Michigan and they probably drive through your neck of the woods when they are coming to visit us as they cross into Canada at Port Huron and back into the US near Niagara and/or Buffalo)

This could be interesting from my perspective as a Northern British Columbian. It's currently only 50F outside and I just came back from watching a high school football game where I was wearing only a dress shirt and a sport coat with some jeans. No gloves, no toque, no anti-freeze, and was actually thinking it was a really nice evening for this time of year.
Waiting for Monday with baited breath. We are going to be booking this one for sure and then really thinking hard on the B2B. Got a few "Thieves" we need to welcome to our neck of the woods!

We're planning on booking the repo and the first Alaska cruise.
we were actually waitlisted (thru TA to IC) for a cat 3 for the wonder repo taking her to LA- but we nixed that idea when we heard they weren't doing mexican cruises the whole summer- who can pass up Alaska?
We're planning on trying to get cat 7 across from cat 11 for both cruises- but we may have to go with 2 cat 11's (if we can get them) if that's all we can afford. Unfortunately even with the TA in 2010 we'll only have 4 cruises before the repo (so the Alaska cruise we'll finally be gold CC members. By that time we'll have 49 nights, in 2 rooms each time mind you, before we'll become Gold members! Can you tell we prefer the longer cruises? LOL)
We're planning on going to LA atleast a few days early to spend some time at DL. We went to DL before the PC cruise last year and surprisingly we enjoyed it more than we thought! (we thought we'd be missing WDW but we weren't LOL)
I already posted this on the other thread for the first Alaskan cruise, but Jason and I are in for the B2B. We got Cat. 7 (room 7622) for both cruises....very much looking forward to getting to know everyone on this thread and reconnecting with some old friends from previous cruises who I see already active here!!
Hey there! We'll be on the WBTA with you before this cruise! :)

Actually I'm a little anxious about this. We're from Texas... while DH is from Wi/Mi (born/raised there- but he's been here in Texas with us for over 20yrs! LOL) so HE won't be cold. He can walk around in freezing weather in shorts and not get cold but WE on the other hand will be freezing our you know what's off.
I've never cruised during cold weather. All our cruises have been end of May/June and Aug-early Sept PC cruise. I've always just lived in capris and flipflops the entire time. (kids/DH in shorts and sundresses and such) We don't even usually OWN much winter clothing- considering sometimes we can go an entire year round without even putting on a jacket in Texas. Only occasionally a short cold winter we'll have to venture out with a jacket but not often. When it's "cold" (a relative term, to be sure!) to us here- we generally just wear jeans and tennis shoes. I can't imagine walking around on the ship in that- we don't even usually pack that type of clothing when we have cruised before! Let alone even warmer clothing... we're gonna have to buy a whole new (warmer) wardrobe to do these cruises. LOL It'll be a new experience- that's for sure.
Also it's our first time on the Wonder... but I've heard it's really not all that different- just the decorations and themes are different but the deck plans are the same, correct? I mean aside from the kids clubs different at the present time... I wonder if those will be changed to having an OQ by the time we do this cruise, during drydock?
At the time of this cruise our kids will be 10, 13 and 17 (Omg *faints*) - I'm wondering if my 13yr old is gonna end up being in the teen club with his older sister (which she probably won't like but hey, that might come in handy for us to keep an eye on HER! LOL)

:rotfl: My DH is taking college courses in the evening, and last night on campus it was a whopping 70 degrees. Now we're both TX born and raised, but we HATE the heat (oyyy, you can't believe our A/C bill this last brutal summer). So he was loving the weather. But he kept passing these tiny little college girls who were bundled up in sweatshirts and scarves, saying "Oh MY GOD, it is like so cold!"
Now this whole layering thing...I've never gotten the logistics of that. Especially when it involves taking off a long sleeve as the day warms up and tying it around my waist. Frankly I don't need what amounts to a big flag emphasizing my rear any more than it already is.
On the bright side, when the lighter fall clothes go on sale in 2010, we can stock up on some good deals in preparation for 2011 :thumbsup2

Hi all! Another Texan (tho not native) here.
We are currently booked on the repo. We were booked for the first Alaskan as well for a day before I got cold feet and cancelled it!
I am just in Vacation Planning overload at the moment. All my vacations over the next couple of months and years are colliding together!
Hubby got a short notice business trip to London in November and I am going to tag along as I have airline credit that must be used. Never been to London or EVEN overseas so I had a lot to learn in a short time.
Also found out that my adult kids wanted to join us at WDW DVC 90 days out from our December trip so I had to change all the ADRs and try to get them rooms! We will have a wonderful time, but it has been an interesting 2 weeks.
So when I looked at the price of the first Alaskan on top of the Western TA that we already have booked, my bank balance had a stern talk with me. :scared1:
We still may add the Alaskan back into the mix, but hanging out in Vancouver for a couple of days on our own sounds good too.
The repo is really a wonderful price.

Yeah I forgot to post about this yesterday when people were talking about it....but right now the plan for me and Jason is definitely to come out 4 or 5 days early and stay at Disneyland using DVC points. Now we own at SSR and AKL.....so that means we can't technically book at the DVC Villas at Grand Californian until the 6 or 7 month window (I can never remember which it is). However, we can "trade out" and use our points to stay at Paradise Pier or DisneyLand Hotel. Does anybody have a sense of what the likelihood we'll even have a CHANCE of getting a DVC villa for the days before the repo? How many villas are there total at Grand Californian? Is it worth it to even try? Our sense is that there are probably lots of DVC folks taking this cruise (and the B2B)....and that many of them are probably not West Coasters....and so many are probably thinking the same thing we are: that adding a few days at DL before the repo sounds like a fabulous idea....any thoughts? Advice? Anyone who owns at GC Villas or has used points to stay there?
sandiedvc
09-23-2009, 11:57 AM
We own at OKW and AKL so we have no experience at the Villas at Grand California.
The prices for GC villas will most likely be in the Premier Season because of Easter, so you can probably get a ballpark idea of costs from the 2010 points guide in the back sleeve of the 2009 Vacation planner. Easter 2010 is 4/4. They have the Premier season listing as running from 4/1 thru 4/10, several days on either side of Easter.
Because of the Easter holiday, it may be difficult to book the Villas. However, we have never travelled during premier season partly because of the costs so maybe no one will book then! Maybe someone on the DVC boards will have an answer?
We did use our DVC points after the May Panama for 2 nights at the Grand Californian (before Villas were in existence) and loved the hotel and the location. You will have a wonderful time there.

Just a thought - seeing as there are so many people doing this as a B2B, mightn't it make more sense to have one thread for the entire LA to Alaska and then treat each as a segment, people joining for segment 1, segment 2 or both?
It might make it less confusing than 2 separate threads.
Just my thoughts.

It might make it less confusing than 2 separate threads.
Just my thoughts.
YES, IAN, I THINK SO TOO. It's too much to try to keep up with LA to Vancouver, Alaska, AND B2B!

Shout out to Karen! Well I just keep bumping into you lately! :thumbsup2 So nice to finally have someone around who understands my vigorous love of champagne cocktails.
Ditto!
LOL Funny you should mention that- yeah our a/c bills are high, wouldn't dream of having a vehicle without an a/c either (I know in some other places they actually drive vehicles without a/c. It's unimaginable here! LOL) and yeah, we prefer cooler weather. We just don't get what we wish for here, as you know (unless it's raining and I'm not particularly fond of consistently rainy weather LOL.)
Personally I don't generally spend much time on outside decks during the day on the previous cruises we've done. DH was usually the one that spent the majority of the time with our youngest at the pool. Part of that was me unable to sit out in the sun due to the pigmentation issue I have on my face (pregnancy mask that didn't go away and gets worse in the sun) but also I'm not fond of sweating. Me no likey to go out there and get all sweaty. But then that was before I'd lost some weight (recently and still working on it) so I wasn't wearing "light" clothes like shorts... just capris really. Which aren't comfortable if you have soaked them in sweat. Yeah that's no fun.
So it will be interesting to be able to go out on the decks and not have sweltering heat/humidity... cool with humidity I'll probably like better. If it's really cold though is what I'm worried about. and yeah I'm with you, I don't think it would be a good idea to tie anything that adds bulk, or attention, to my hind area or generally the bottom half of my body for that matter. LOL Maybe we'd be more used to layering if we lived in an area that had cooler weather? Maybe. LOL
Vigorous love of champagne cocktails? :rotfl:

Didn't want this to get buried in my last post. So for all the uber planners out there....
Easter for 2011 will be Sunday, 4/24/2011. That will be the Sunday before we board in LA on Wednesday.
Wow that's late for Easter! One day before its latest possible date (Apr 25). For future planning, Easter is on April 25 in 2038. :)
We are this cruise and the first Alaska cruise in a cat 3. With so many people doing back to back, what will they do with us? Least of my worries. Robbing banks is first on the list. We could buy a car with the small fortune these two cruises cost!
We were booked to do the WB TA a year from now but this sounds way better. I see lots of familiar names from the 2005 and 2008 PC cruises, and a few from the 2010 WB TA thread.

This morning I scurried to see when Passover fell out and was over in 2011. Fortunately it ends the day before we would have to leave for LA. Otherwise I would have ended up having to cancel the booking.

Your plan is our plan too... and probably just about everyone else's on this cruise! :thumbsup2
Won't this be MAJOR FUN! :yay:
And he has SO MANY POINTS and is KEWL
must maybe he will book the Grand Villa and we can all be his guests????

No special privileges for friends and\or butter tart providers! :rotfl2:

Ken....I wasn't looking for any special privileges....it's just that when we booked I had emailed Georgie with all our details...with the exception of what dining we had because we didn't know.
Georgie....we have second seating....

LOL hear you about the car.... and with a soon to be driving (has learner's permit already!) kiddo.. the car thing was a "thought" (same thought: we could buy a car with this amount of money!) but also this will likely be our last cruise with her. She'll be 17 at the time of these cruises- and even then she'll likely have to lose some job somewhere if they won't let her take off for this vacation. :lmao: Any cruise after that- likely in 2012 because we'll be broke for awhile- she'll be in college.
And as for the Easter thing- I hadn't considered that. ack..... not good. We'll likely be at DL on Easter which is bad... missing Easter at home and with our church is bad and so is being at DL at Easter (is it crowded then?) Hadn't considered that- but there's nothing that can be done about it. I doubt we can talk DCL into changing the dates. LOL hmm, think the holiday affects the price of the repo to Vancouver?

Thanks for pulling this together, although it is more evidence for the argument to consolidate threads.
I hear you... and even considered making this thread a B2B right from the beginning, but... there still would need to to be 3 Threads... Information would be duplicated everywhere... :confused3
Another thought... In fairness to those who may only be doing one cruise or the other it makes sense to keep the threads and their corresponding information separate.
Some may want to participate in activities on only one of the cruises. Ex.) FE Lists, Scrapbooking Classes, Room Tours, etc.
It's a tough call... This is a unique situation with such a high percentage doing both cruises. I don't want to step on the toes of the other thread. That's why the link to Alaska was provided in the opening post, to make things easier for everyone. The 1st Alaskan thread did the same. I only inquired about B2B out of interest. :goodvibes

Maybe those of us who are doing the B2B, which seems to be a very high volume of folks, can make an unofficial agreement to use one thread or the other as our "primary" thread to talk about B2B festivities.....and if it continues to be the case that most folks from the DIS are B2Bers then most of the activity will naturally select towards one thread or the other without the need to officially close the other thread (making it still an option for folks only doing one cruise or the other). I can't say 100% that this would work....but I will share this: Jason and I are doing a B2B in Sept. 2010....the last 10 night Med and then the WBTA on the Magic. It has just happened that the majority of folks who have "registered" on the last Med thread also happen to be doing B2B with the TA....and, as such, the thread for the last Med is pretty much stagnant because we all mostly use the WBTA thread to communicate.....just a though???

you are so right about the car cost! LOL
Since we were waitlisted for cat 3 for the repo to LA (thru TA with request into IC or whatevr that's called) we talked to our TA about what the cat 3 was going for.... which is why we nixed the idea of going for cat 3! :lmao: The quote was going for same we'd been quoted for the WBTA! (if it had been available at that time, which it wasn't) Same price as a 14nt cruise for either 6nt or 7nt!? wowzers.

I agree.
And I'm not just biased because I'm going on the WBTA but cancelled the 10 nt Med. LOL
But gosh that list sure does show that a lot of people are doing B2B! This will be our first B2B and it appears the ship isn't gonna be empty at all. LOL
I know this won't happen- but I wonder what would happen if EVERYONE on the ship was doing B2B? Single file us all off and then back on? haha (yes I seriously realize this wouldn't ever happen)

Here's What I have to Date... a snippet from my spreadsheet. I will make a link to the complete spreadsheet on a future date.
23 Staterooms ~ 21 B2B ~ 45 Cruisers
The high percentage of B2B cruisers suggests the early booking date was successful in enabling people to book the same cabin for both cruises.
It would have been difficult to book the same cabin for both cruises if lots of cabins were getting booked for single cruises. We encountered that on Royal Caribbean. Fortunately we were able to get the same cabin (B2B2B), but others couldn't and had to pack and move to another cabin.

I love seeing flower gardens, :flower3: but was curious if Canada's growing season would be "up and running" when we get there?

I think Canada's gardens are probably still buried under SNOW in April... Right Elaine??? :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
How about we start a separate thread for B2B??? :scared1:

You're just so nice Karen, I can taste the sugar
I agree, on B2B thread, let's not make it hard on ourselves here, after all this is a vacation :lmao:
I called today and added some TBA to my LA-Van repo. I figure it will be Molly and Wilson sadly, my room only holds 3 people, oh well, Paul really didn't want to go anyways :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: really, I think he would pass if he had the option. The price was just too good not to book the TBA's for my room, so I did it with only 2 $125 deposits.
I'm sadly thinking that Alaska may be too $$$ for us (Paul asked me if I'd rather be a SAHM or cruise, duh, be a SAHM is higher on my list right now), but I'm leaving the deposits there for now and if we have the money a year from now, then we'll go, if we don't I'll auction my name and rooms off to the highest bidder so they can have my gold day on board discounted rates (::yes:: I'm kidding I know that won't work) unless you really wanna be illegal that is ;)
Here's hoping the money train pulls into all our stations in the next year or so :banana::banana:

You're stuck with us as tablemates, that is unless you and Richard will be preferring to dine with a more refined crowd on this cruise rather than us rabble.
We're going to have to get you and Richard to join us in dressing up on theme night, once the muse strikes me with what the theme is.
By the way, in my mind, as I've said before this really one big journey with folks either staying for one or the other leg of the journey, or both legs.
Sad that you'll only experience the first leg of mayhem

On the Castaway Club site there is a little logo of an anchor with Mickey ears on it. It appears to be a part of a larger .gif or .pdf Is there a way to get that alone... all by itself?

Had an awesome waiter in the Prom Lounge on the Magic last week (Victor from Chile) who, once he discovered my love of flavoured fizz, kept bringing me little 'tasters' to tickle my tastebuds!!! :worship: Naturally he received an honourable mention on the comment card... ;) Oh and they were serving a new one on me at Palo's brunch - Midori and champagne, YUM!!! Plus it matched my lime green cardigan... Maybe that should be my 'thing' - clothes to coordinate with cocktails..? :lmao:
Oh my...I hope your DH knows he has a contender for your affections! I had to warn DH the other day that it was lucky I loved him so much or I might have to leave him for the baker at this new cupcake store. Seriously...it was a salted caramel frosting on dark chocolate cake...who wouldn't?!
Hubby got a short notice business trip to London in November and I am going to tag along as I have airline credit that must be used. Never been to London or EVEN overseas so I had a lot to learn in a short time.
How wonderful! I've always wanted to go to UK! Then again, I've always had a little bit of a "Parent Trap" meets "An Affair to Remember" obsession with getting there on the Queen Mary. But I'd take what I could get -- plane, raft, whatever ;) Have fun!
Didn't want this to get buried in my last post. So for all the uber planners out there....
Easter for 2011 will be Sunday, 4/24/2011. That will be the Sunday before we board in LA on Wednesday.
Oh keee-rap. I didn't even think about that. I guess it will have a crowd impact on DL and flights? Well, no waiting around on flight deals this time around; better take what I can get!
So it will be interesting to be able to go out on the decks and not have sweltering heat/humidity... cool with humidity I'll probably like better.
Vigorous love of champagne cocktails? :rotfl:
We've sailed in January and in May -- DH shrieked like a school girl getting into the pool on the first and I contemplated heat stroke one day on deck on the latter. I too am looking forward to some sort of balance. That being said, the first time we went to SF I was shivering on some outlook on HWY 1 in September in a sweater and shorts. A lady walked past me, snorted and said, "Tourist! You know, this isn't Southern California" (and it's a good thing she told me or I might have gone looking for Tijuana but ended up in San Jose )
Well it just isn't a Disney Cruise if it doesn't involve a Kir Royale :thumbsup2
Why not just make this the Repo and B2B thread. Why segregate when you can integrate??? ;)
:rotfl: I agree. I don't really know most of you yet, nor am I sailing on the Alaska leg, but I kind of enjoy reading about your plans :) Let us live vicariously through you (and I don't mean that as creepy as it sounds).
Only 3 months 'til Christmas! :santa:
Oh you did not just say that...
Anyone think that DCL will offer a wine excursion? Although I think it will likely be far simpler to just rent a car and do it ourselves. Last time we just picked up a car near Fisherman's Wharf, did Napa and Sonoma, brought it back in the evening to avoid paying the (insane!) parking fee at our hotel. Easy peasy! Though a guided excursion would be worthwhile if it involves vineyards not normally open to the public....um, oh yeah, and a driver i.e. not having to spit out the wine quite so much :rolleyes1

by curvy street you mean Lombard Street, yeah I want to go down that as well. I just loved San Francisco.
funny story about that curvy street, I was nervous going down the first time we went down it when I was in San Francisco. Then later that same day my mom, my dad, and I went to muir woods and if you ever went there to road going up and down seems like death road. My mom and I nicknamed it that because we were scared while on it, at least my dad was driving and he was nervous, but anyway the next day my mom had Akido with her friends so my dad and I went down Lombard street again and it was great compared to going to muir woods:lmao:

LOL, when I think of SF I realized I think FOOD! :rotfl:
Our last trip we had Dim Sum in Chinatown by 10 am, then Focaccia at Liguria and truffles at XO in North Beach by noon! :rolleyes1 Well actually, we bought about 15 of these tiny little truffles thinking they'd last us a long time, but they didn't even make it 6 blocks. Very attractive, sitting at a bus stop sucking chocolate off our fingers. I'm not sure I can visit without going back, yummmmm. I also just found out a guy I went to high school with owns a candy store in North Beach too, so it just gets worse and worse calorie-wise for me.
The Alcatraz tour is so fun! Though that hill to get to the top *gasp, wheeeeeze* I wonder if by late April Lombard will have all those pretty flowers you see in the pics? It is kind of a scary road, but half those roads over there scare me. I'm always amazed how people can park on those roads without all the cars just rolling over like dominos.
BTW: watch out for the guy behind the bush in Fisherman's wharf!

Hi Again Georgie
The Arthritis Ride starts on Saturday, October 3. Only one week to go. It actually starts in San Francisco at Pier 39 - just a short walk from where the cruise ships dock. This was a tough fundraising year for many of the riders. As a group, we are trying to reach $1 million - but we are still a little short of that goal. As you can see in my sig below - my donors have been very generous again this year. $10,895 as of today.
Thanks for asking!

Hi Everyone! We will be consolidating the Roster between both the 1st Alaskan Thread and this Repro Thread. I will be keeping the detail and Bob will be formatting information along with pictures! Now we will recognize everyone BEFORE we get to the dock. Thanks Bob! :thumbsup2
The first page of Both threads updated to include a Roster Link for instant access. as well as where to send your pictures.
I still hope to post the stats as I have been on page one.
More details to follow.

We are currently on our way home from WDW  but I just wanted to let you know that we ran into Don "Ducky" Williams at the food court at POP Century last night....I asked if he would be doing the repo or 1st Alaskan cruise and he said he doesn't have his 2011 itinerary yet....he said Disney just gave him his 2010 schedule...it was really nice talking to him and for those that know George...he was with Ducky and he is doing well.
Bob....glad to hear you gave in to peer pressure...the repo wouldn't have been the same without you and Lee....
Love the Mickey anchor logo!!!!!!

A couple of notes...
Not to question DisneyPinDiva (who would dare do that?!) but for public transportation within SF you want a MUNI pass which is the bus, street cars (trains), cable cars (trolleys to the tourists), and the MUNI light rail (below ground and street level). BART is the subway system which wraps 1/2-3/4 around the bay for for the purposes of our cruise--unless your headed to say Berkley or something--you probably don't want BART you want MUNI.
Since we have 18 or so months to plan I'd be glad to answer questions or do some research. Say finding an appropriate bar. :) We live on the east coast but visit SF as much as possible. I was there over Labor Day weekend and we'll be there in less than a week again. Haven't booked any weekends for next year yet (Phoenix was super cheap today!).
I will confess that we don't tourist too much...meaning Pier 39 and Ghirardelli are not on our list (not that there's anything wrong with that!). I mean hey Musee Mecanique in at Pier 45 which is in the middle of all that and I love the Musee.
There is so much to see and do...it will be strange just stopping by for a night but at least it's a Friday, woo hoo! I could be out of booze by the time we reach SF...I mean that is like what, day 3? :) Time to stock up! Oh and the Farmer's Market is on Saturday...not that we need food on the ship, but it's great!

Checked my reservations online yesterday on the Castaway Club future reservations portions just to see what kind of new and different things you could do with it and saw that the Alaskan portion of the B2B was showing a dollar amount due.
I had called DCL early on Thursday to place a courtesy hold (hold for 3 days, no deposit due) on a room for the Alaskan so that I could change the repo to have the same room. I thought it would be easier to talk to DCL directly to do that rather than have to communicate with DVC as an intermediary. (and besides DVC wasn't open yet!)
I then called DVC to transfer that courtesy hold to DVC points. No problem.
I did check my DVC member account on late Thursday night because I was checking to see if the waitlist had come thru for one day at AKL for Dec and it showed the cruise under future vacation plans. No problem.
Friday AM found that DCL had a dollar amount due under the reservation for Alaska. DVC reservations should show on the new website the same as any other "Travel Agent" reservations. Under the Payment information, it should only show the purchase date.
So what happened in my case is that someone didn't save the DVC payment into the DCL system. DCL was only showing the courtesy hold that I had.
Meaning that that hold would have expired and released my room into the pool for Monday bookings.
Not normally a huge deal, but by the time I had figured out that I didn't have a room for the Alaskan there may not have been a way to get the same room number for both cruises.

I would love to do DL beforehand, but with Passover still in swing that makes it virtually impossible. I would have liked to have squeezed in at least a day at DL. But on the other hand I'm relieved that it will be over in time for us to leave for LA.

Hey all ... I too am one of the Silver's that hope to be joining you on Monday for the B2B. Nice to see so many familiar names from the 08 EB repo and the Baltic cruise.
We live just outside Hamilton.....you pass right by our exit on your way to Toronto!!!!!
Hey neighbour! I grew up in Oakville! Now in KW!
Didn't want this to get buried in my last post. So for all the uber planners out there....
Easter for 2011 will be Sunday, 4/24/2011. That will be the Sunday before we board in LA on Wednesday.
Question for you Southern Californians. Is DL as busy as WDW on Easter. I was thinkiing of flying in on the Sunday and spending 3 nights at DL, but this may change? Is it just Sunday that is busy, or would Monday and Tuesday be nuts too?
Question: Since we'll be sailing early in the growing season, do you think the gardens will be in bloom? Maybe with bulbs?
I love seeing flower gardens, :flower3: but was curious if Canada's growing season would be "up and running" when we get there?
The daffodils and tulips should be out by the first week in May. Be sure to check out Butchart Gardens (http://www.butchartgardens.com/) while in Vancouver!
That would be neighbours Jackie. ;)
And don't forget ... up here it is zed, not zee! And loonies and twonies are real, no $1 bills for us. The rest of our bills are really colourful though!

Just a little correction so as not confuse the visitors. Butchart Gardens are on the Island and thus accessible when in Victoria, not Vancouver. If you try and get there while docked in Vancouver, you might not get back in time to get on the ship as you would have to take a 1hr ferry ride each way.

Yeah I know, right?
I was going to look into doing Alaska then the repo on the way back- until I found out there was a 2wk gap there for drydock. personally for us I was just thinking of the trip back (instead of the trip there) simply because A) we're cruising in Sept of 2010 and it would give us a bit more time in between the cruises... for saving money and whatnot. LOL and B) later in the year and maybe not so cool? (I'm not particularly experienced with the weather- so I may have been incorrect about that anyway. But that's what I was thinking).
But alas, not meant to be. Soon as I found out there wasn't going to be an Alaska 7nt with a repo back directly after it.. but a 2wk gap there for drydock... I knew we had to do it the other way around (the repo on the way there.)
I'm guessing that means they are doing drydock somewhere closer to Vancouver? IDK

Hey Ken, regarding the deposits on the kiddos, just an FYI, I was adding some peeps to my ressies for repo and alaska and was told that I could add them at any point along the way and just pay the prevailing price for that person. I recall that it was mentioned here that you might not be able to do that and that you ran the risk of increase on your whole groups prices. That just seemed odd to me, so I asked and was told not true. I'll need to add one more for Alaska, but I'm not sure if we will all cram in one room or not at this point, so I'm not paying that extra $300 today and risking the cost increase latter. Of course the ship could fill up with peeps and I *might* not be able to add at all, but the chances of that are too slim in my mind to worry about.
I'm still bummed that Alaska is asking so much for deposit but oh well, what ya gonna do???

Yes, I take care of my peeps.
Ken and I had been chatting about it.
There was a lot of chatter and noise, and as the folks who know me know, I hate supposition. My work-life is all about cutting through supposition and drilling down to facts.
You can't manage with supposition. You can have fantasies, dreams, confusion and angst with supposition.
Now sometimes, if let's say, you are analyzing exactly what DH Lawrence meant in a particular paragraph, you have to use supposition and inference because, unless it has been documented elsewhere, you can't call up DH Lawrence and ask him. He's dead.
After chatting with Ken I called DCL and asked. I am always surprised why people speculate rather than just asking, when the source of information is so readily available.
I deal with this at work on nearly an hourly basis. It amazes me even more when someone starts spinning and all they need to do is walk 3 cubes over and ask.
So, ne net Nan, my little fact-based gal, is (as she so often is) correct.

Good Morning All! :goodvibes
A rainy night, and now morning. Woke up to water traveling down our livingroom columns! :scared1: We are beside ourselves... have called emergency roofers for a tarp and our insurance company! SIGH!
On the plus side... Wii has dropped in price to $199! :woohoo: Now we have a console to go with our Toy Story Mania! :rotfl2:
I will get back to the roster tomorrow... Will need to deal with the water situation today.
GOOD LUCK to those booking tomorrow morning!
OMG Georgie....you guys have been through so much lately....we'll be thinking about you and hopefully you will get this repaired quickly....

Oh Yikes! :scared1: So sorry to hear about your roof. Hope they can get out there quickly and get an emergency fix done for you.
We are planning on visiting DL prior to this cruise. DH has a gazillion points accrued through Priority Club so we're hoping to stay free at the Holiday Inn. Not sure if that will work, considering it's Easter weekend - they might have a blackout. But, we'll wait and see - sadly, we have a long time...

Hi Peter -It would be nice to see you and Jenn again.
What is happening Oct 24 (press release)?
There's a live webcast from NYC that afternoon regarding the Dream. We were on the Magic a couple of weeks ago and they weren't sure if the itinerary would be released at that time or not, but they're anticipating it. There will be a lot of details about the ship released at that time.

Good Morning Kiddies.....
nice, but crisp fall morning here.
After walk snack consists of fresh baked snickerdoodles and hot chocolate.:goodvibes
Good luck to all those booking tomorrow.:thumbsup2
I have found that if you just work with the DCL reps, they will do whatever they can to accommodate. You just gotta say what you want. Ask the right questions.
This was especially true for this cruise. We had already booked the Alaska cruise, but not this one. By the end of the week, we decided that we wanted to add this cruise. When I called, I explained what we wanted. No problem.
We got the same cabin on both cruises.:yay:
Hope everyone has a great day! :wave2:

Taking a quick break from the water. Thanks for the well wishes. Thankfully the rain has stopped, but 5 hours later, still no help with the tarp on our roof. :confused3 We sure don't want to climb up there!!! :scared1:
Okay... now to wait for the announcement about the DREAM!!! I wish they had the deck plans out so we could start planning for that too!!! :rotfl2:

Wasn't Victor GREAT!: ::yes:: We so wanted to bring him home with us...and he had an honourable (well, honorable here in the U.S.) mention on our comment card too!
So glad Victor received more honourable/honorable ;) mentions - the man is a Chilean legend!!! :thumbsup2
OK....caught me lurking on your thread. I'm SO SAD that the 'reverse' of this B2B is not an option! :sad2: What were they thinking not bringing the ship back to LA for dry dock there? (I know, probably $$) I mean, do you think people are going to do the Vancouver to LA then the next MR cruise? Well, perhaps, but it just feels WRONG. Although our northern neighbors may do it at as a lead-in to a DLR trip, I suppose...
Lurk away, Jackie!!! Richard and I were actually planning to book the last Alaska cruise (which we have) followed by the Repo before the onboard DCL lady told me it wasn't going to work that way. So we're splitting our Wonderful cruising experience into two separate trips... :headache:
Anyway, our initial pre-cruise plans are to fly into San Diego (we've never been) on Good Friday (April 22) and stay there for a few days before heading to DL and an overnight stay at a GCV studio... :goodvibes

Booked a cat 9c ... Will send information in to Bonzie1 asap.
Can we borrow the cruise logos?

I'm so glad you guys are coming along :goodvibes
Oops just saw this is on the repo rather than Alaska thread....why don't we just make this one thread, this is sooooo silly.
It was me, and that was exactly what they did to me when I added a person on the Easter 2008 cruise. My price went up by $500.00.
I'm glad they have changed......if that's what they've done, because sometimes you get different statements from different cast members when calling DCL.

See my response above, because DCL did change my price when I added another person, it was not speculation.................

How do you do the blinking countdowns in your signature? Would love to know. Thanks.
Go to www.mickeypath.com. You need to create your separate countdown banners first. Then go to "Rotating Banners". You should see both banners in the "Added Banners" space. Just click on Create and your rotating banner will be created, along with the code you need to insert it in your signature. HTH!

My DH already posted our status!
The credit card won't look too good on the next statement, but its nice to have it all booked and done.
I just read through the whole thread. It looks like there's different groups that have cruised together before. Last time, I let DH do all the disboards stuff and I didn't join in until a month before the cruise; but this time, I'm going to try and stay up to speed myself instead of getting everything secondhand from him :goodvibes
Very hard to stay focussed at work, much more fun to read cruise threads!:guilty:
