View Full Version : QSDP, adult vs children credits?

This is the first year we've done QSDP and in years past on the regular dining plan the CS meals were not specified as adult or child credits. They were just a pool of credits like the snacks.

Have they changed that? I noticed that on one flyer it says that the meals cost an ADULT QS credit....but we have 3 children in our group so I'm wondering if we'll have to use an adult CS credit for this meal or just pay for their meals and save the adult credits (if they are divided).

Your card designates how many adults and how many children you have on the plan, cashiers will let you order based upon your card.

The credits, however, are pooled on the receipts as of right now, so that will reflect how many total credits you have left.

Thanks...maybe we'll just pay OOP for this meal if we decide to do it and that way we don't lose 7 adult credits for 4 adults and 3 children.

what restaurant indicates that you have to use adult meals? if they don't offer a kids' meal then the kids are welcomed to enjoy an adult meal...

The Animal Kingdom Picnic.....it says that it requires an adult credit....per meal. Again, we could just pay for it, since the younger ones could easily split a sandwich or chicken...etc. I just didn't remember CS being separated, now that I've thought about it though, maybe they were. We always ordered kids meals at places like Flame Tree and Cosmic Rays....I don't know? Still, we'll just plan on paying for it....so we won't use up 7 of our adult credits.

Could you just order 4 adult meals using 4 CS and then split it with everyone?

Or is that against the "rules" for Disney Dining Plan? I usally travel solo or with just one child so this doesn't come up much for me.

The picnic is treated like any other restaurant at Disney that doesn't have a kids menu. You are welcome to use your child credits towards an adult meal here.

We have some pretty voracious eaters so sharing with an adult meal wouldn't work. I just figured we'd pay for the pack for 6, since our youngest could share with our next youngest and I'm sure it would be plenty of food. On the brochure it says "Requires one Adult meal entitlement per meal amount. For example, a Meal for Three will require three Adult entitlements.", so I don't think they are treating it like other restaurants.

The experience from those reporting back here on the DIS is that AK treats "Picnic in the Park" like any restaurant that does not have a kids meal. There is no option for kids there, so they have been taking Kids credits towards this experience.

This may change in the future, but as of right now it works just fine. :goodvibes

I hate to butt in, but I'm confused as to how the CS credits work. Somebody had told me that they don't differentiate between adults and children. My daughter and I almost always share a meal wherever we go because we're not big eaters. Would it be possible to use all the credits on adult meals if we're only using one at a time? I'm so lost with this all.

I know snacks are not in adult/child categories but I believe (even though I initially thought that they weren't different) CS are? I remember last year we would purchase so many adult meals and so many kids meals when we would go to a CS and it would reflect that on our receipts.....again, not sure if it would matter if we'd ordered all adult meals or not but we just always ordered it the way it was supposed to be.

The stated and explicit rules of the WDW dining plan are that credits for which you paid a child's price are to be used to order meals from the children's menu, unless the restaurant has no children's menu. The brochures are very clear on this point. The DIS makes an effort to stick to WDW's stated rules and regulations regarding the dining plan.

Because there's no children's menu for the picnic, they seem to be treating it in practice the same way as a CS with no children's menu, which makes sense.

It's my opinion that in the future, all CS restaurants will at some point have a children's menu, then the credits will be separated like TS credits are.

Question for all you experts. We are heading to Disney in October (2 adults and 4 kids) and we have the dining plan. What happens if me and one of the kids stop for a counter service at one place and my husband and other three kids want something else. Will the first two count as adult meals and how do they distinguish between the two?

If you have 2 adults and 4 children listed on your key card, you would be able to order a maximum of 2 adult and 4 child meals in one transaction. You would need in your situation to keep track of the adult and child CS credits yourself.

Credits for which you paid a child's price should be used to order from the children's menu at all restaurants that have a children's menu.
