I know that this has been asked (and answered) before, I just can't seem to find it: Are you allowed to order the Prix Fixe 3 course meal at Les Chefs de France or the Chef's Favourite 3-course meal at Le Cellier while on the DDP? Does it make any difference if it is during Free Dining? Thanks in advance.

Yes. It makes no difference whether you got the plan free or whether you paid for it. The only restriction is that if you order from the fixed price menu, you can make no substitutions at all. You can't even substitute out the sides.

Thank you. We have been to Le Cellier four times, and not once do I remember seeing the 3 course meal on the menu. I guess I've always been fixated on the mushroom fillet with risotto. Mmmmm.....

Just an FYI about the fixed price menu... the selections are the cheaper options offered so obviously not a good deal if you are paying OOP... however, on DDP if you like the mushroom fillet, I think you might still be better off sticking with that and paying OOP for the app if you really want it since the ones offered on the fixed price are the cheapest, also.

Frankly even on the DDP, it just isn't a great value, IMO.

At Le Cellier, Chefs de France, and Captain's Grille, a special 3 course fixed price menu has been added. If you purchase your meal from this menu, an appetizer is included, even on the basic dining plan. You cannot make any substitutions if you choose from the fixed price menu, though.

These menus exist to encourage dining plan users to order cheaper entrees by offering them an appetizer. This was confirmed for me by the realization that if you were paying OOP and purchased the three least expensive items on the Le Cellier fixed price menu (gnocchi entree plus any appetizer and dessert on the fixed price), it would actually cost you more to order them on the fixed price menu than it would to order them individually off the regular menu. Same if you got the chicken entree. So anyone not on the DDP would actually lose money if they ordered these particular items from the fixed price menu.

If you are on DDP and you like the items on the fixed price menu anyway, then the appetizer is a bonus. If you prefer one of the more expensive entrees, you are much better off getting that, and paying OOP for the appetizer.
