Just saw this interview from the Today Show yesterday. It was posted on Yahoo! Buzz. Very cool. I'll have to find the slide show.

Tracy Raver was on the "Today" show Friday morning to talk about her unique way of photographing newborns.

If you want to see tons of these kind of photos go over to the open board on ilovephotography.com. I'll warn you though it's an addicting site, lol.

Hmmmm--these just don't grab me for some reason.
Now, if these were puppies, I'd be all over it! LOL

Wen - are you on ILP too? So am I... same screen name.
And yes, that clip has been the talk of ILP for the last 2 days (and another photography board I frequent)!

I've been a member for maybe two weeks? Lurking for now, I'm more then a little intimidated but they all seem pretty nice. I'm WenRob there too but haven't posted yet. If I see some of your stuff I'll comment. Nice to "know" someone there.:goodvibes

It is intimidating there... but for the most part, people are really really nice and helpful. I pretty much stick to the Pro-side of the board, very rarely posting in the JSO sections. But if I see you I'll definitely comment!

I'm on ILP as well. My screen name is Amy in Ohio. I'll look for you guys. :)
Those pictures are amazing. I had an infant over last Thursday. If you are planning to get those kind of photos, you need to be prepared to wait :lol We spent 2 hours together, and he never did go to sleep. Even after eating he was still wide awake.

Here are two of my success stories with a sleeping baby:

I'm still in awe of some of those poses. I need another 5-day-old to come over and work on how I use their little arms to prop up their little heads. Thanks for sharing the link, Kyle. I had missed it on the Today show.

I think Wen answered this above.

Oh wow, I had no idea that was you! You'd think I would have recognized your style from some of the baby pics you've posted here. You do awesome work!

Well, now that I know two people over there I might get brave and post, lol!

I don't do much in terms of newborn photography, because well, I suck. :) I think I could get better if given the chance, but I just don't get called up for those kinds of gigs, no one knows me as the newborn photographer, so it just never happens. But once in a while... I get a gem.

But I mainly stick to older children, couples, weddings and boudoir.

ILP stands for ILovePhotography.com. It's a message board that is dedicated to children's photography with the main part of the boards being business geared. Some of the very best in the business in terms of children/newborn photography are on the board (even if they don't post in the free sections). Both of the photographers in this clip are/used to be on the board as are all of the big names in the world. It has well over 10,000 members. Big big big business place to be. The pro sides are application-and-then-paid only.

These are lovely.

Personally, I don't care for the ones where the babies are really propped up on their arms, particularly the second one in that slide show. It looks very unnatural to me--actually a little creepy! The others are sweet though.
