Per DISer "ImTooExcitedToSleep" Tom, they announced today at D23 that Star Tours will finally receive it's much anticipated upgrade to 2.0. It will be pod-races on Tatooine in 3D.

while not a huge fan of the pod race sequence or the entire second triology for that matter, I am a huge star wars fan and glad to hear they are giving that ride an update

It looks like it is NOT JUST pod racers - that just happens to be the segment of the video they used as a teaser. The starspeeders apparently join a pod race momentarily. There will be more to it.

That is exciting news!

Star Tours is one of DS's favorite rides and we are happy to see it get the update it really needs.

This is great news. It seems like forever ago that this ride opened. I was lucky enough to grow up about 1/2 hour drive from DL and I remember Star Tours opening.

I've been wishing for this for years. The film was looking old and I didn't feel like I was really there anymore. I don't know why some people wouldn't like podracing. :confused3 Looks exciting to me! Can't wait! Will WDW be updating their Star Tours also?

Star Tours definitely needs an update.

But the podrace scene? Come on.

Why do they have to try to work in that garbage of the Episode 1 crap? They should just ignore that travesty to film called Episode I, II, and III.

With an overhaul, what I'd really like to see if different "experiences". 3 or 4 different journey's, to different planets, etc. So each time you ride, you randomly get one of the adventures. Or maybe each ship goes to a different destination and depending on where you are in line, you go to a different place.

Just ignore the new trilogy. Please!!!

I already mentioned earlier in this thread that the pod race scene is only ONE segment of the whole thing. It is not just a pod race.

And yes, its coming to WDW as well.
