Just wondering how many Ohio DVC'ers are out there and from what part of Ohio. Also, which is your home resort, what year you joined and if you have ever added on.
For us, we joined in 99 at OKW, and added on once there. And bought at VB this year.We live in NE Ohio near Youngstown. 3 of my brothers and sisters are members also and live in Howland,Brookfield, and Brecksville (all Ohio cities)

According to the book at Beach Club Villas, there are 1960 DVC families from Ohio. We joined in 1995 and bought a resale in 1999 (both at Old Key West).
We just got back from the grand opening of the Beach Club Villas. The resort is beautiful. When I have a little more time, I'll post some pictures.

Mary Lou in Ohio,
I think most Ohioans know that Cedar Point is the "Roller Coaster Capitol" of the USA!! :bounce: We have been to a lot of amusement parks acrooss the country, and Cedar Point has the best, most, highest, fastest, etc, coasters in the USA (and I am including,MK,MGM, IOA, Universal, 6Flags,etc) Maybe we shouldn't let out our secret about Cedar Point;)

We just got back from Cedar Point. It was really hot. DH just looked at me and said "Can't wait till Disney when there's more stuff that I will actually do". No millenium force for him. He's a big thunder mountain guy.
We are very happy OKW members. Just this year added on 200 HH points.

My firm's annual outing is at Cedar Point this Sunday. I know the park has its redeeming value but its not Disney so its hard for me to get excited (you won't catch me on anything wilder than the Blue Streak). I am looking forward to seeing Snoopy on Ice though.
Anyway, its nice to know so many of us from Ohio own DVC and are DISers too!

VB was our first resort..bought there because of Magical Beginnings and we are very flexible when scheduling vacation.
First visit was Dec 2001...DH loved it! It's a nice relaxing way to end a Disney World vacation...5 days in the parks & 4 days on the beach.
Next trip to VB is Feb. 2003. Plan to go with extended family in 2004...hope to get a beach cottage.

Believe me! I would much rather drive the 3 hours from Mentor to Columbus than do what I'm doing tomorrow. My daughter's ninth birthday, with nine of her friends, for four hours. Pray for me.
We love Columbus though. Always hit Trader Joe's, the cheesecake factory and the JC Penney Outlet.

Another Buckeye checking in.
We live in North Canton - just North of Canton (how original)!
We bought VB in 2000, and just added on at BCV this year - can't wait for our first trip this December to BCV - it was our favorite spot before the VC resort - now we can call it home too!
Towncrier - can't come to the Dismeet in Columbus - heading North on Sunday to take our son to Debate Camp at Michigan State. Meant to say thanks again for the Meet this spring at your home - your hospitality was wonderful!

By the way, does everyone know that season passes at the zoo are about $50 for a family? If your planning on coming back, a season pass may be a good option. It includes parking. Tell the person at the entrance your purchasing a season pass and they won't charge you parking (if you are). We love our zoo. There's a mini Greaters ice cream shop in the food court.

Solon/Hudson OH (Between Cleveland and Akron).... we bought in January at VWL. Still haven't been, though I'm sending my Mom and Sister this month.... Any of you drive down there frequently? If so how long does it usually take, and could you do it in a day with a 45 yr old and a 17 year old, taking turns driving or would that just be he**?

I drove from Salem to Walterboro, SC a couple of weeks ago in less than 12 hours without pushing it. We stopped for the night then it took about 7 hours from there.
We drove straight through many years ago. I drove myself. I won't do that again. But with another driver...you could do it.
Towncrier
07-15-2002, 04:10 PM
Walterboro used to be our annual stopping place. We now try to make it a bit further and have now adopted Hardeeville as our official stop on the way to WDW. Nothing against Walterboro but since the little ice cream shop that we used to visit closed, there's nothing that compels us to stop there. In either case, it sure makes for a pleasant 2nd day of driving when you stop in South Carolina. Otherwise you are looking at an 18 hour drive (with very few stops).
And I would agree that Walterboro is an easy 12 hour drive from the Solon/Hudson/Macedonia area.

Airfare, right now, is $198 from Cleveland to Orlando (non-stop). Having DVC makes a fall trip very very tempting! I called and checked and there's quite a bit of availability in the studio category (including at BCV which is surprising to me) for mid October. I'm a little intimidated about flying right now and with being unsure if our waitlist will come through for November, I am really really tempted to make this trip happen. Someone please save me from myself! We already have a trip booked for HH Thanksgiving week and that should be enough (but of course being the Disney fanatic that I am it's not!).
Anyway, just thought anyone from the Cleveland area considering a trip and needing airfare may be interested in the good fares available right now.

Thanks for the heads up on airfares. We flew down to Orlando from Cleveland a couple of weeks ago. The fares were $116 per person roundtrip. I couldn't pass up that rate. And believe it or not, we got into a BCV studio on July 1st (opening day). We made our ressies 7 days prior to arrival. This sets a dangerous precident for our family. If airfare drops again, we might just have to make another last minute trip.
ZerasPride
07-17-2002, 11:25 AM
Wow! I wouldn't hesitate with that price for airfare. We paid about the same thing for a trip in 2000 (that's how we were able to go three times in a year) and I've been hoping to see fares like that again. I guess I have to watch those airfare prices more carefully.
Instead of a quick trip in October, I am now contemplating a cruise for our tenth anniversary next year. Never done a cruise before and that would definitely make our anniversary special. So I'm off to research whether paying cash or booking on points would be better.
