So 6 weeks from today we will be leaving to head to Walt Disney World for a double birthday trip & I have finally decided to start a pre-trip report. I never start too early because I fear I will not have enough things of interest to keep people reading :sad2:......so here we are.

My name is Melanie & I am a Disney Fanatic.....there I've said it. It's been a life long issue that I do not see as a problem, but some others do (you know those people who just don't get it :confused3). Very luckily for me, I found a man who shares my love of Disney & we fell in love :lovestruc. His name is Eric & we have been married for 6 years. We have had many wonderful trips to Disney over our 9 years together & we are always excited to go back for more fun.

If you want to get to know us a little better & enjoy reading trip reports here are links to our most recent trips.

Here we are with the Partners Statue at the Walt Disney studios from that trip.

Here we are in our winning Halloween costumes from that trip.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0840.jpg

Our birthdays are exactly a week apart-mine falls on Halloween & Eric's is Oct 24th. I have celebrated my birthday at Walt Disney World once back in 2004 when we went to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party on my Halloween birthday.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/2004-HappyBdayHat-2.jpg
I also celebrated my birthday aboard the Disney Magic which was fantastic. Eric has never celebrated his birthday at Disney so with the free on your birthday promotion this year it seemed like we should consider going back to WDW. We put our top 3 contenders (Quebec, Washington DC & WDW) in a hat & drew out WDW.:cool1:We were a bit late not deciding until May so we weren't able to get the resort we really wanted but we started planning from there. We have not been to Walt Disney World for an entire vacation since 2006-we have had a day or two on our way other places but not an entire week devoted to the parks. So, we are excited to go back to our happy place again & spend lots of time in the parks having a blast.

Next installment..........trip details.

Hi Melanie!

I'm so excited! I miss you as a trip reporter! I'm not on dis as much as I used to be but I'm excited I found your new PTR! I am looking forward to following your adventures and seeing your eye for the details at WDW.

OT: I remember your cake decorating days and wanted to share my recent creation! My girls have had a weird (long story) rule since they were about 5 or 6 yrs old that they could not eat bubble gum until they were 13. Well, at the time it seemed like a million years away BUT! it finally arrived and so we had a big "Bubble Gum Birthday Extravaganza" for the first one to cross the 13 yr old threshold. It was big news in our house.. sort of like quinesenetta but with bubblegum instead of womanhood ;) Here was the cake:

The mosaic in the center is made out of sticks of gum and the outter ring is gumballs

I hope you didn't mind the OT and I so look forward to your TR! :yay:

And hey... I guess since this is a Birthday trip maybe this isn't totally OT afterall!

Happy Upcoming Birthday to both of you!

Hi Melissa!!!! & :welcome:
Glad you found me. I haven't been DISing as much either, but have been more since we have our trip coming up.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your bubblegum cake. So creative. I haven't made any cakes lately....need to get inspired to do one, but trying to loose weight & making cakes don't go well together.

We really wanted to stay at the Beach Club Villas because of the proximity to EPCOT & alot of the places we are going to be eating, but since I was past the 7 month window for DVC reservations outside your home resort, there was nothing there or at the Boardwalk or Animal Kingdom Villas which were my top three picks. So we settled for Saratoga Springs & requested the Congress Park section because I have read it is the closest to Dowtown Disney.
http://www.mpimages.net/wdw1/compressed/Resort_Hotels/Saratoga_Springs/2SSQuietPool-holland.jpg
Since DTD has the bus hub for visiting other resorts, it should work out just fine. Hopefully we will have a cool view of DTD like this too!
http://www.mpimages.net/wdw1/compressed/Resort_Hotels/Saratoga_Springs/2SSDDView-holland.jpg
I am excited to stay there since it will be new to us & it is one of our HOME resorts & we have never even visited.

So on with the plans............
Friday Oct 23rd-Fly out of Knoxville via Air Trans (our first time flying with them). Arrive MCO around 3:15pm. Magical Express to Saratoga Springs
http://nextup.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/wdw_magical_express.jpg

Saturday Oct 24th-Eric's Birthday. He wants to be in EPCOT for his birthday. We have a special lunch planned (more on our dining plans at a later date). I am trying to decide about calling & trying to book the Segway tour that morning as a surprise for him for his bday, but cannot decide. Enjoy the Food & Wine Festival for dinner probably snacking & drinking around the world. Illuminations!!!!!
http://www.wdwmagic.com/app_images_element/International-Food-and-Wine-Festival.jpg

Sunday Oct 25th-Magic Kingdom. I had some trouble coming up with our park day schedules where we could fit in Spectromagic & Wishes because of the Halloween parties that are going on & because we wanted to build in some no park/do other stuff days. So, Magic Kingdom closes at 7pm for a party this day & there is no regular Wishes. :sad2: Hang out at the Contemporary & watch party fireworks & Electrical Water Pageant after dinner. Also plan to check out Bay Lake Towers too!
http://allears.net/tp/ewp5.jpg

Monday Oct 26th-Day off from the parks. Hang out at the pool at Saratoga Springs. Go play Winter/Summerland Mini-Golf. Shop at Downtown Disney. Dinner with 2 dear friends we made on our Backstage Magic Adventures by Disney.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v647/dustysage/Weekend%20Update%202009/072509/SummerGolf/2404741800033443741S500x500Q85.jpg

Tuesday Oct 27th-Disney Hollywood Studios. I had some trouble with this as well as there is NO Fantasmic several nights & this is one of them. I kept trying to tweak my schedule but it just wasn't working the way I wanted it to....so unless they change it up no "some imagination huh"for us-but after seeing it at Disneyland last year.....it is better there anyway!!!!
http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/features_orlando/images/2008/03/06/toy_story_mania_300_dpi.jpg

Wednesday Oct 28th-Animal Kingdom. Evening hours will be spent at the Boardwalk with a nice dinner & hanging out with the dueling piano players at Jellyrolls!!!!
http://www.jellyrolls.us/jellyRolls.jpg/jellyRolls-large.jpg

Thursday Oct 29th-Morning & early afternoon free because we are going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: and we will have stayed out late at Jellyrolls Wed night.
http://z.about.com/d/orlando/1/0/6/T/wdwnss01.jpg

Friday Oct 30th-Day off to chill after our late night at the PAR-TAY. The plan is to go to the Magic Kingdom area resorts for some hopping around. We have never rented the little speed boats & want to do this & tool around on Bay Lake. Special meal at Grand Floridian. Evening we will probably hang out at DTD
http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wdwi/images2003/languagespecific/en_CA/moremagic/rec/marina/marina_watercraft.jpg

Saturday Oct 31st-My Birthday...back to EPCOT. Enjoy food & wine festival for lunch. Want to do the Behind the Seeds tour of the greenhouse at the Land as this is something we have always wanted to do & have never done. Illuminations again-cause it's Eric's favorite.

Sunday Nov 1st-fly home after lots of fun.:sad2:

I am open to suggestions on what to do on our free time/no park days. I am sure there are plenty of places at WDW that we haven't made it to that are really cool. So bring on the advice.

P.S. All pictures here are lifted from google image search & aren't mine. :rolleyes1

Up next.........where in the world are we going to eat!!!!!

Love all your fun pictures to go with your "not yet been there done that" plans! So fun! You know how to pack in the photo's..

I would love to do that segueway tour BUT if it's a choice between that or the garden tour I'd pick the garden tour.. seems like a nice "seasonal" thing to do. Other things to help consider whether or not to do the segueway tour: 1) Do you have any other special plans or ideas for the birthday celebration day?
2) Have you and eric done the segueway before?
3) What was the thing holding you back or making you hesitant this time?

As for what to do when not at Disney? Were you thinking about only things to do at Disney besides parks or outside of disney as well? For me... my NUMBER ONE thing I would just about have to do if I ever make it to Florida would be the Dolphin Cove experience. Have you ever thought of that place?

Jellyrolls sounds like so much fun.. that is definitely something that would be on my list. I am really sad that they took down the Adventurer's Club before I ever had a chance to go there. I just think that sounded like the coolest thing ever.

As for places to eat: Do you like cheese? I have been cravign the cheese plate at the Contemporary ever since my idol Oybolshoi reviewed it in her WORLD FAMOUS dining and TR report ______ (link to follow as she doesn't have it in her siggie anymore and I had to ask for it). Anyway, this girl is an AMAZING food reporter and I have been salivating for this thing ever since.

P.S. A shout out to MAGICFOR2 (of is it MAGIK4TOO? ;) ) and Soonergirl! Long time no see :goodvibes

Well Melissa........
I was holding back on the Segway tour mostly just because of cost. We have never done it & I think it would be tons of fun. I don't have any other special birthday plans......I was thinking of getting a special cake for his birthday but we would have to have it at lunch since that is going to be our sit down meal for the day & what would we do with the leftovers?
We won't have a car to get over to Discovery Cove, but that is definetly on my list to do sometime. When Universal opens Harry Potter Wizarding World I think we will actually do a few days off Disney property to see that & maybe we could do that then too. I always just want to stay immersed in the Disney magic when I am there.
The cheese plate at the California Grill is too die for....we have had it before. We debated about going back, but decided to try someplace new this time...........

Stay tuned update coming up......

So yesterday after posting about our plans.....I pondered on the surprise for DH's bday & decided to call to see if they had any spots left that day on the Segway tour. They did so I booked us on the 8:30 tour that day. I am going to try really hard to keep this a secret from him. I was also able to go ahead & book the Behind the Seeds tour of the Land Greenhouse for my birthday at 11:30. So yeah for tours.:banana::banana::banana:
Here's what we will be experiencing.

So on the appointed day in July, I got up at 6am to make our dining plans. It is so funny to me how we all stress & get up early to make plans for where we are going to eat in 3 months. But, we all know if you don't do it, your chances of getting to eat where you want are slim to none at WDW.

So the plans for yummy eats include several new places for us this time. We decided to branch out & try some places we have not eaten before, but still have a fair number of favorites on our list that are must do's too!

Arrival day Oct 23rd
We decided to go to Animal Kingdom Lodge & give Jiko a try.
http://wdw1.wdpromedia.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_US/Media/InternetMediaType/Dining/Jiko/DL_JIKO_240.jpg
I have wanted to try this dish forever.....Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon - with Macaroni & Cheese and Red Wine Sauce. And lookee what else they have.....Artisan Cheese Selection - Enjoy a selection of sheep and goat cheeses from around the world selected by our chefs and uniquely paired with fig toast, house-made jams, and marinated fruits. Our selection changes daily based on availability and levels of ripeness. I think it will be mine. :lovestruc

Oct 24th-Eric's Birthday
We love Le Cellier & in May for our quick one day visit to Epcot we did it for lunch instead of dinner. Got our favorite.......Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce & it was cheaper than at dinner. So Eric decided that was what he wanted to do for his birthday!
http://z.about.com/d/orlando/1/0/q/R/rain03.jpg
For dinner, we plan to snack & drink our way around the world with the Epcot Food & Wine Festival.

Oct 25th
Lunch in the Magic Kingdom-probably will be at Columbia Harbor House because we love their sandwiches.
http://wdw2.wdpromedia.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_US/Media/InternetMediaType/Dining/ColumbiaHarbourHouse/DL_COLHH_240.jpg
Dinner at The Wave in the Contemporary...I liked the looks of the vibe here & then thought we could sneak up to the California Grill for a drink & watch the MNSSHP fireworks.
http://wdw1.wdpromedia.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_US/Media/InternetMediaType/Dining/TheWave/DL_THEWAVE_240.jpg

Oct 26th
Day off from the parks. We will probably eat lunch at Saratoga Springs that day or walk over to DTD.
Dinner will be at Raglan Road with Sakina & Mildred our two friends from our Adventures by Disney trip last Dec. They live in Orlando & they are meeting us at DTD to eat. I have really wanted to try this place as we love Irish Pubs so this should be a lot of fun & they have entertainment too.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/Raglan-Road/images/2%20Raglan%20Road%20Entrance.jpg

Oct 27th
Disney Hollywood Studios
Lunch at our old favorite The Brown Derby...love the food & atmosphere here.
http://wdw1.wdpromedia.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_US/Media/InternetMediaType/Dining/HollywoodBrownDerby/DL_BRDERB_240.jpg
Since the park closes at 7..not sure if we will eat dinner there or if we might walk back along the path to the Boardwalk & maybe eat there at like ESPN or Big River Grille.

Oct 28th
Animal Kingdom
Lunch with either be at Flame Tree BBQ or we might try the Quick Service side at Yak & Yeti.
Animal Kingdom closes at 5 so we are going to go back to SSR & then head out to dinner at Yachtman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club. This is another one we have always wanted to try.
http://wdw1.wdpromedia.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_US/Media/InternetMediaType/Dining/YachtsmanSteakhouse/DL_YS_240.JPG

Oct 29th
MNSSHP day!!!!
Not sure about lunch.
Dinner will be early at the Plaza Inn. I hope they still will let you in at 4pm for the party even though the advertised start time is 7pm. I have wanted to try one of their burgers & shakes here ever since reading lurkyloo's trip report.
http://wdw1.wdpromedia.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_US/Media/InternetMediaType/Dining/ThePlazaRestaurant/DL_PLAZA_240.jpg

Oct 30th
Day out of the parks.
A tradition for us........afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. This is the first place we had afternoon tea together & ever since we seek out tea rooms when we travel. I am excited to go back since we haven't been since 2005.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/Resorts/photos/gf-tea2.jpg
Dinner will probably be at Earl of Sandwich at DTD & ice cream at Ghriadelli's.

Oct 31st-My Bday
Back to EPCOT.
Lunch will be grazing at Food & Wine again probably.
I chose dinner at Rose & Crown with the hopes of getting a patio table to watch Illuminations. I was very torn what to choose & Rose & Crown is probably not my favorite for food, but I have always wanted to watch Illuminations from here. So keep your fingers crossed that we get a table on the patio.
http://wdw2.wdpromedia.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_US/Media/InternetMediaType/Dining/RoseAndCrown/DL_ROSECROWN_240.jpg

Ugh...........I feel full already. :rotfl:
I am on Weight Watchers currently & doing well, but I will be taking a little break to indulge myself on vacation. I hope I don't gain back all I have lost, but at least all the walking off sets some of the eating. I will try to restrain myself some. :lmao:

Guess I should have explained that it was a blind draw...with small pieces of paper with the destinations written on them. It was just fate for us to head back to WDW although I have to be honest & say that we did pic out Quebec first but after some research decided that Mont Tremblant where we wanted to go has nothing at all going on in October!!!!

So after looking at my plans 9000 different ways & trying to come up with a better option for our Magic Kingdom day so we could see regular Wishes which we LOVE, I was about to pull my hair out. Until I had an epiphany.:idea:We are buying a 5 day pass (no hopping, no bells & whistles) so I looked up what a 6 day pass is & it's only 3$ more. So, I thought to myself, why not buy a 6 day pass & just go in on Monday the 26th when we are taking a day off from the parks & just watch WISHES. We are having dinner with friends at Raglan Road that night so I contacted them to see if moving dinner up to 5:30 would work for them & it does, so Jiminy Cricket quick as a bunny I got on-line & changed our reservation & now we can see WISHES after all!!!!! Yippee :cool1::banana::cool1:
http://allears.net/tp/mk/wishes2.jpg

I still wasn't able to make Fantasmic work out.......but we just say it last December in Disneyland & it's better there anyways, so instead of changing everything up we will just be content to miss it. :rolleyes1

I also tried calling today to see if there was any studios anywhere besides Saratoga Springs.........no luck except a day or two here & there. We are still waitlisted for Beach Club & Boardwalk, but it looking like SSR will be our home which is ok too....but it never hurts to check.

I don't know if it's still like this or not, but when we went in October of 2006, Wishes was not the regular Wishes, it was just an abreviated version of HalloWishes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you get to see the normal Wishes! :wizard:

Yeah for Le Cellier!!!! I was reading today about the food & wine festival cards that you can get. You load it up like a gift card & it has a wrist band. You can then walk around all the kiosks & try all the things you like without having to carry a bunch of cash. Sounds like a great idea to me & one that I am thinking we will definetly try during our drinking & snacking around the world. :drinking1

Hello there my ABD pal!

Thanks for telling me about your report. But sadly, I will be at WDW a week earlier. :sad2: I thought it was funny to see my friend Brenda's (oybolshoi) food reports get pimped here, because I'm currently pimping her pre-food report in my own pre-food report on the restaurant reviews forum. :rotfl2:

I can tell you that the Epcot Segway tour is a lot of fun. Enough that I did this tour twice! I want to try the Ft. Wilderness Segway tour now.

And I'm also on Weight Watchers, and have been since last November. So when you met me, I was only doing WW for a few weeks. I lost 4 lbs. that week, even with all the buffets and such. It was the 12 miles of walking a day that probably helped. I have lost 50 lbs since I started. I'll have to PM you a photo.

As for the festival, I'm giving the program a HUGE rest that week. And I'm going to try doing laps around World Showcase for every couple items I buy at the food and wine kiosks. ;)

My advice about the festival gift cards is that they are handy to have at the kiosks...when the card terminals don't crash. Always keep some cash on hand because I've always encountered a card terminal crash at least once during my noshing. It doesn't happen that often, but you'll be glad you had some cash when it does happen. (And if it never happens, consider yourself lucky! LOL)

And boy I feel guilty about not meeting up with Sakina and Mildred! I'm not meeting up with other Orlando area people I know, so I'm feeling lots of guilt all around!

Lori,
So glad to have you here.
Great to hear such good things about the Segway tour. I was on the fence about it mostly because it takes up precious time, but I thought Eric would love it!!!!!
I am SO INCREDIBLY PROUD OF YOU for your 50 lbs. That is wonderful. Such hard work too so I know what an accomplishment that is. Yes please pm me a photo. I am sure you look incredibly svelte! I hate missing each other by 4 days too..........we shall have to plan better in the future. I can understand the guilt about not meeting up with people but there is only so much you can do in your time. I am really excited about seeing Sakina & Mildred again----should be a fun night. We will be spending 2 full days at EPCOT & they will both be birthdays. EPCOT is Eric's favorite park so that is why he chose it. I wanted our days to be spread out right & to end up with Illuminations so that is why we ended up with it on my birthday as well.

I am hoping to really be able to enjoy tasting lots of new foods & wines at the Food & Wine Festival. At the kiosks, I really want to try food that we haven't tried at home....like Greek, Thai, cheeses from around the world, Indian, Austrian, etc. etc.
We did not opt for any of the formal planned dinners or events, but we might try to squeeze in some of the free ones or the 8$ events.
October 24 2009--I highlighted what we might like to see
2:00PM - 2:45PM Wine Seminar Château des Charmes, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada, Paul Bosc
5:30PM - 6:15PM Wine Seminar Groth Vineyards & Winery, Napa Valley, CA
4:30PM - 5:30PM Culinary Demonstration / Wine Presentation Pastry Chef Claire Clark, The French Laundry, Yountsville, California

This is what is happening on my birthday Oct 31st
October 31 2009--I highlighted what we might like to see.
12:00PM - 12:45PM Wine Seminar Maison Louis Jadot, Burgundy, France ---We drink some Louis Jadot wine at home so this might be fun!!!!

The Eat to the Beat concerts will be Taylor Dayne & John Waite....not must sees, we can just take a listen as we walk around.

Since we will have 2 whole days, I want to really take our time browsing the shops in World Showcase. We will both have gift cards for our birthdays to spend after all. :teeth:

I also want to spend more time watching the entertainment around World Showcase........we rarely plan this out & end up catching a few minutes here & there. This time I really want to take the time to enjoy a whole show.
Especially these guys.....Off Kilter
http://wdw1.wdpromedia.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_US/Media/InternetMediaType/Entertainment/OffKilter/EL_OFFKILTER_240.jpg

Also want to try to see:
Jammitors
http://wdw1.wdpromedia.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_US/Media/InternetMediaType/Entertainment/Jammitors/EL_JAMMITORS_240.jpg
The Candy Lady....never seen her
http://wdw1.wdpromedia.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_US/Media/InternetMediaType/Entertainment/Miyuki/EL_MIYUKI_240.jpg
Mo-Rockin'

World Showcase Players
http://wdw2.wdpromedia.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_US/Media/InternetMediaType/Entertainment/WorldShowcasePlayers/EL_WSPLAY_240.jpg

We just want to make sure we stop & smell the roses & really soak up the wonderful atmosphere at EPCOT.

Must have food/beverages besides all the nibbling & sipping around the world....
Mushroom filet at Le Cellier---lunch on Eric's bday.
Must have a Grand Mariner slushie!!!! Had one in May & it was so refreshing.
Have to do our usual sipping of exotic soft drinks at Club Cool........just no Beverly.:rotfl:
No other must haves at EPCOT because we will be doing most of our sampling from the food & wine festival.

More updates to follow with must do's for each park......

Some of the $5 discounted seats for DVC/AP/TiW members are gone, but a couple of them show up still for the demos you want. They're all available at the full $8 price.

Here's the link from the festival discussion thread:

SEMINARS AND DEMONSTRATIONS PRE-REGISTRATION
Use this link
http://www.register123.com/profile/w...D=0x173908616f

to access a preregistration page to book the $8 food and wine demonstration seminars at the Festival Center in advance for 8$ - or a discounted price of $5 (based on availability) for TIW/AP/DVC members (you must enter your AP or membership number to get the discounted price), starting on Wednesday, August 26.

I suggest you book this ahead of time and print the confirmation from the summary page; it's better than the email confirmation. This guarantees you admission if you really want to do these. I'm not sure how they're handling walk ups...or if the seminars sell out ahead of time.

Thanks Lori for the advice from a pro......
After talking with Eric I went ahead & booked us for the Louis Jadot wine seminar on my bday. Got the DVC 5$ rate. :cool1::banana::cool1::banana:
I told him we had a special event on his bday that was going to be 2 hrs long & he decided he didn't want to do any other seminars etc to take up park time that day. So this time, we will just try the one wine seminar & if we like it maybe next time we will explore a signature dinner or more events.

In trip related news.......
Got something new & cool from UPS today.

I told her not to worry yet...we still have a month to go.
That luggage was on sale at disney.com for 59$...pretty good deal I thought.

AND.........Really cool news that one of my best friends from high school & her hubby will be Orlando at the start of our trip. If they can stay over the 23rd we may be able to make dinner work that evening. We already have ressies at Jiko & I am sure we can add them. I sent her the menu & she is excited about it--she's not a Disney park fan but recommedning that they visit EPCOT for the Food & Wine festival & having dinner at AKL might start helping her see that Disney is for adults without kids too!!!!

Well, considering this is the first year they are charging for the seminars, I'm not a pro! ;) Be sure to still get there at least 20 minutes early, because you still need to check in and get seated.

You might change your tune about the special dining events after you see my food porn. But the price tag on these events: :scared1: I basically budget all my money on the food, and since they're paid for in August, I'm not spending a ton while I'm there in October. Or so I try to convince myself. :rotfl2:

The luggage looks fabulous, btw. :thumbsup2

Finally made it over Melanie! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Sorry I'm late, just got back from my honeymoon. I'm so excited you have another trip planned! I love reading your TRs and I'm sure this one will be just as fun as the others.

I did the Segway tour with friends back in 2005 and it was the best tour ever. Riding the Segway alone was worth the price, nevermind getting to ride it around the World Showcase before it opened. Super awesome!

Hey my friend TravelMe! ;) How are you? I've been having a hard time keeping up here.

Melanie, love your plans! I would agree with TravelMel, check out CG! I read that you can watch the fireworks from the lounge w/o ADRs - don't know if that fits in anywhere, but it sounds romantic! The SeaRaycers sound like fun! We had that on our list in March, but changed our minds when we got to WL - we just wanted to chill - so relaxing there.

Dolphin Cove sounds really wonderful to me, too. You also get a pass to SW, but that would mean extra planning for "park" days. I was also thinking Aquatica looks really cool - I'm kind of upset with Disney for renting out "Premium seating" at the water parks - it will be harder to find good chairs - time to look for other parks. Your trip is getting close!:woohoo:

Our second day in the parks will be spent in the Magic Kingdom.

This is a terrible thing to admit, but I will go ahead & do it. I have never been to opening at Magic Kingdom. I have never seen the opening show with the characters on the train. Eric & I have been to the MK early but has always been to do a character breakfast at Crystal Palace. I am determined that we will be there before opening & finally see this.
http://land.allears.net/blogs/jackspence/MK%20Opening%2003.jpg

Would love to catch the Trolley Show down Main Street too....anyone know what time they do this?

Want to hear the Dapper Dans sing

We have not seen Monsters Inc Laugh so this will be new to us.
http://www.arondaparks.com/images/LaughFloor-01.jpg

Multiple rides on the TTA.....I have seen the new lights for night & they look awesome so we must do this at night.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2080/2061578876_8d405def36.jpg

Look longingly at Space Mountain which will still be undergoing refurb. :sad2:

Spend quite a bit of time in Fantasyland & Toontown taking pictures because things they are going to be a changin' with the new refurb. I think Toontown is going bye-bye for good.
http://allears.net/tp/mk/toontown08a.jpg

Think we might try to ride Dumbo because I have never done that either.....how that has happened I am not sure. We will only do this if the line is short.

Multiple rides on Haunted Mansion....we have only ridden the new version twice at MNSSHP 2007 before our cruise, so it will be like new to us.

Climb the TreeHouse looking for unique views of the MK.

Watch the afternoon parade.

Pay attention to detail!!!!

There is a Halloween Party that night so we will be leaving the park & heading over to the Contemporary for dinner at the Wave. We have talked about either going up to California Grill for a drink so we can watch the party fireworks up there, or taking the monorail to the Polynesian & getting a drink there & watching the fireworks from the beach there. We will do one or the other kind of depending on how long dinner takes & what atmosphere we are in the mood for.:rolleyes1

Must eats.......
Every time I say I am going to get a Dole Whip & I never do....this time I WILL get one.
http://images.mouseplanet.com/wdw/compressed/Magic_Kingdom/Adventureland/dole_whip.jpg

Lunch at Columbia Harbour House...although it looks like they have changed the menu & our favorite sandwich is not on there anymore. :sad1:

Sweet treat from Main Street Bakery

Popcorn during the parade? I can't resist that popcorn.

Up next........Must do's at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Egad, the Trolley People! They are around early in the morning, and I do my best to haul butt somewhere other than Main Street, because it's like nails on a chalkboard to me when the music starts.

If you want to ride Dumbo, haul your butts to Fantasyland as fast as your legs can take you after rope drop. The line will be astronomically long if you don't hit that first.

And of the Dole Whip variations, the Dole Whip float is way too sweet. The pineapple soft serve by itself is yummy, but I like the vanilla swirl with it the best, I think.

I am having such a hard time calling MGM DHS...:confused3

Let's see........

Want to watch some of the streetmosphere performers in action. Do they have a schedule for these? We have caught them just by chance most of the time & they are soooooooooo great to watch.
http://land.allears.net/blogs/photoblog/streetmosphere2_st.jpg

Would love to have several rides on Toy Story Mania & to explore the very cute looking area around it. This will be our first time seeing it at WDW. We rode it in DCA last December & it is really awesome.
http://land.allears.net/blogs/guestblog/toystorymania4.jpg

Multiple rides on Tower of Terror & Rockin' Rollercoaster just because they are such great rides.

Not sure about this new American Idol Experience.....is it worth the time it takes to do it? We don't watch the show.

Spend some time on the streets taking some pictures. I know there are a couple of doors that actually open & stuff...like a barber shop where you can go in & sit in the chair, but we have never really taken the time to explore this.
http://land.allears.net/blogs/photoblog/normal.jpg

Watch the new to us afternoon parade-Block Party Bash.

Enjoy the atmosphere at the Brown Derby for lunch.

We have no firm plans for dinner that night. DHS closes at 7 & there is no Fantasmic :sad2: so I am thinking we may walk over to the Boardwalk after park closing & grab a burger at Big River Grille or head over to ESPN zone as I have heard good things about the grub there. I always enjoy just meandering around the Boardwalk at night.

I have seen pictures somewhere of people in a barber chair....I think it's down a bit from street level & if you try the gate it opens & you can go in....or I might have been dreaming it all up. :rotfl:
Are you freezing yet?

In 2 weeks we will be at the Happy Place!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So today we are at 10 days out until we arrive at WDW......:cool1::banana::cool1::banana::cool1::ban ana::cool1::banana::cool1:
So, I was able to do our online DVC check-in today, which is very exciting. Not sure how much time or effort it really saves, but still exciting.
I also did a grocery order from Garden Grocer to be delivered on our arrival day so we can have drinks, breakfast foods & snacks in the room since we will not have a car to do a grocery run. This is the first time we have ever done this so I will let you know how I like it.
Really all that I have left to do is PACK & GO!!!!!!!!!! but right now it feels like it will never get here!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are in the Halloween spirit & mood around here & cannot wait to get to Disney so we can see all the cool Halloween decorations there.
It's a Disney Halloween around our house.

Animal Kingdom is another park where we have never attended rope drop, so that is something I really want to do as I would love to see Mickey Mouse & friends at the Tree of Life.

Ride Expedition Everest several times...we have only ridden it once.:scared1:

Try to the the safari early & hope we see lots of animals.
Not sure if we will watch the Jammin' Jungle parade. We have seen it before & we like it, but since it's only a 9-5 day not sure we will have time for it.
Watch Flights of Wonder.....I haven't seen this since AK's opening year.

Go to Rafiki's Planet Watch......also something I haven't done since my first visit to Animal Kingdom.

Flights of Wonder was closed when we were just there. We hope it is open for you. Never seen it.

We saw a newt getting a checkup, and a baby lovebird getting a physical while at Rafiki's. Not as good as the cheeta's endoscopy in 2001 or 2003, but interesting anyway. We were told that they usually know by 0900 what proceedures are scheduled for the day. DW got to hold a python. And we enjoyed the Affection Section.

Finally had a chance to get on the internet.
Made it here safely......got a great room at Saratoga Springs in the Congress Park section with a beautiful view of DTD & only a 5 min walk to DTD buses.
Had a delicious dinner with friends at Jiko last evening---the food there is sooooo good.
First full park day today. Eric's bday. :cake:

Living with the Land...1st ride.
Lunch at Le Cellier...another great meal.

Can't wait to hear your full Segway review. We looked at doing the trial at Epcot; the free one. Problem was: you can't sign up early; you have to be there at 1pm when it opens. We were a little late, and there were about 15 people in line. It looked like there were 2 to sample, and that it was going to be 5-10 minutes per person. We decided to bag the idea, and instead went for ice cream. I think we'd like to do the tour someday.

Sean.........the tour was so worth it. It was really a fun experience. I would do it again!

Yesterday's recap.....
Finally got to see the opening at the MK....got a little misty. Saw the trolley show. Rode Dumbo for the first time ever. Rode everything under the sun really.....longest wait was 20 min. Great day in MK. Didn't watch the afternoon parade but did catch a bit of Move it, Shake it, Celebrate it which was fun. Left MK around 6pm....walked to BLT & decided we have to stay there sometime. Went to the Wave....had a very refreshing Mojito which was great after being hot all day.....wonderful dinner. The plan had been to go to the Poly & watch fireworks from the beach but we were wiped, so after dinner we headed back to SSR & enjoyed another beverage in the Turf Club Lounge.

Today is a free day.....
We had breakfast in Artist's Palette this am then took a long walk around SSR exploring a bit.
Next up is a swim.......then DTD & mini-golf.
Dinner is at Raglan Road tonight with friends from our ABD trip last Dec....can't wait to see them.
Watch the live blog for pics.

And what did you have to eat?

Disneygrl36
10-28-2009, 05:58 PM
Mark....Sakina had no wine :lmao:
We both had field green salads. I had the grouper & Eric had the salmon. Both were excellent. It is such a nice place to take a break from the park & eat.

Yesterday was another jam packed day....
We did everything we wanted yesterday at MGM---yes I know it's DHS now but I still have trouble with that. Fantasmic was great as always. We walked from there to Boardwalk & ate at ESPN zone...it was about 8:30 & we were starved. Then we went to Bellevue Room for drinks. My only beef with yesterday was we got back on a DTD bus at Boardwalk & the only stop the bus driver was going to make (I guess because it was just a bit after 11) was Pleasure Island...........so we had a long walk back to SSR from there & my feet were already dead tired--that was my only non-magical experience so far.

It was sooooo hot today in AK but we got to ride EE 3 times, saw Nemo & did everything else we set out to do & left by 4.

Jenn.........I totally forgot to go in the bathroom at Rafiki's what's in there?

On our way out to Yachtsman & Jellyrolls this evening.

Thanks so much.

Well, obviously we are home......had such a good time. It was SO HOT though. I mean hot to the point where I felt like I was melting a couple of times. The locals kept telling us it shouldn't be that hot. I checked a couple of times & the humidity some days was 90%.:scared1:So, that really zapped us, but we pressed on & had a wonderful trip.

I will be starting my trip report today!!!!!!!!!!!

Disneygrl36
11-03-2009, 11:17 AM
Our trip started out with a flight out of Knoxville's McGhee Tyson airport. We drove down to the airport, parked Jeepie & soon we were waiting for our plane.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0190.jpg
We flew AirTrans & were pleased with the service--hey we even got a bag of pretzels & a drink on the way down, which Allegiant doesn't give you.
Weird formations seen from the plane close to Orlando....anyone know what these are????
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0453.jpg
We made our way to Magical Express & were soon on our way to Saratoga Springs.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0459.jpg
I had requested a room in Congress Park because it was closest to Downtown Disney & we were going to be dining in quite a few resorts this time, so I thought being close to the resort bus hub at DTD would make that easier. That request was granted & it really was nice to be able to have just a 5 minute walk to DTD. Our grocery delivery was waiting on us, so bell services loaded up our stuff & drove us over to our room. I was quite pleased with Garden Grocer--we had never done a grocery delivery before & it was so convenient to have everything we needed just waiting on us when we arrived.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0462.jpg
We had a studio with a beautiful view of DTD. A studio is just right for the 2 of us on a Disney vacation. If we were at the beach or somewhere we spent more time at the room, it would start to feel small but at WDW where you are not in the room much it's perfect.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0203.jpg
We didn't have a lot of time, but we did unpack what we had in our carry on bag & got ready to meet friends for dinner. A friend of mine from high school & her husband were finishing up their trip so we decided to meet at Jiko at AKL for dinner.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0466.jpg
This was our first time dining at Jiko & it was delicious.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0465.jpg
This was a complimentary carrot & ginger soup that we were treated to by our waiter.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0205.jpg
We started out with the artisan cheese platter which included Five Goat, Cow and Sheep Cheeses from Around the World-the goat cheese was my favorite. You can also see pictured here Jane & Scott's appetizer which was the Taste of Africa with assorted breads & dips.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0206.jpg
Eric enjoyed a South African beer called Tusker. I had a glass of South African white wine which I cannot recall the name of, but it was perfect with my fish.
We shared the Jiko salad which had a very nice refreshing dressing on it & was decorated with edible flowers.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0467.jpg
I had the maize dusted halibut in a tomato butter sauce & it was sooooo good.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0207.jpg
Eric had the oak grilled filet with macaroni & cheese in a red wine sauce which he only gave me the tiniest taste of because he loved it so much.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0208.jpg
We were wayyyyy to full for desert.

Dinner was delightful. The ambiance at Jiko was wonderful & we had such a good time catching up with Jane & Scott. It was a perfect way to start off our vacation & a great way to introduce them to a part of Disney they had never seen. They both said they would love to come back & stay at AKL--this from 2 non-Disney people, so I think I accomplished my goal of showing them how much more there is to Disney than the parks.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0213.jpg
After dinner, we said our goodbyes. We headed to the concierge desk at AKL because we feared we would not make it back to SSR before the desk closed & we needed to get our park tickets. The lovely lady there helped us out & soon we were on our way back to SSR.
Gorgeous views walking back to our room.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0226.jpg
Our other bag had arrived, so we finished unpacking & got settled in before heading to bed. We had an early morning planned the next day. This was the only night of the vacation that I did not sleep well......guess I was "too excited to sleep."

Next up.........Segways & eating around the world at Epcot

We had an early breakfast in our room today because we had to be at EPCOT guest relations by 8:15 to check in for our Segway tour.
So we climbed on the bus & before we knew it we were at EPCOT.
I took the time to take a few pictures of the Food & Wine decorations & Spaceship Earth.

We checked in & signed our waivers (I was hoping at this point that I would survive because I am a little clumsy at times). Eric got his birthday button & birthday fun card---free money from Disney woohooty!!!!!
I think our group had about 10 people in it. We went over to Innoventions where the Segway area is & watched a video about the Segway & got basic instructions on the controls.

About to get on the Segway for the first time....
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0477.jpg
I was really nervous & the first time you get on one of these things it's like whoaaaaaaaa really not sure about this cause until you relax it kinda bucks a little bit when you first step up. So we practiced then & it was amazing how quickly you started to feel comfortable on it & soon we were turning it in circles, going through pylons & riding up & down a ramp. Before we knew it, it was time to head off to World Showcase. We had to ride in a single file line until we got to the area of World Showcase that wasn't open yet. We made stops in several countries to talk about the pavillions & the details. It was awesome to be riding around World Showcase! I really enjoyed riding on the Romantic Road in Germany, through the gardens in Japan & slaloming around the columns in Italy. We got to do some free-riding & photos in Italy as well.

Me in Germany.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0478.jpg
It was soon time to head back to Innoventions & we sped back to Future World on our Segways. It was a great experience & we both loved riding these really cool, quiet machines. Eric decided he needs one at home.:lmao:
So, by now it was heading towards 11 o'clock. We headed to the the Land to get a FP for Soarin'. Our first ride of the trip (besides the Segways of course) was Living with the Land.
Hidden Mickey from the queue
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0257.jpg
Then we went over to hang out with Figment for a minute.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0484.jpg
He's so cute........but I think he misses Dreamfinder.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0266.jpg
I was thinking of jumping in this fountain because it was soooooo hot.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0276.jpg
We then went to Club Cool cause we are cheap & needed a drink.:lmao:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0278.jpg
Next, we headed to Canada because we were lunching at Le Cellier. Eric picked this for his birthday meal.
We finally found the hidden mickey on the totem pole......I must have looked at this thing a million times & just now finally found it. Do you see it?
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0281.jpg
I just love the gardens here....so pretty.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0282.jpg
We sat in the Alberta province. It was nice to be inside & cooling off some.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0486.jpg
Bread.....whole wheat, pretzel & sourdough sticks.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0284.jpg
We had field green salads. I really like the pear, cheese & walnuts mixed in this salad.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0285.jpg
And what we had been waiting for the mushroom filet mignon. Oh my goodness, this is such a good dish that I have to stop myself from licking the bowl to get the last little bit of mushroom risotto goodness.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0286.jpg
Too full for dessert, we headed back to Future World & got a FP for Test Track & then caught these guys performing-The Jammitors.

You will have a great time....you & your Mom are doing it right? You will be surprised how tired it makes your feet though...like it must use muscles you don't normally use when you shift your weight.

When we left off, we had just watched the Jammitors perform & bang away on pots & pans.
Then we headed to Spaceship Earth to see what our future was destined to be.....apparently we are going to be in outer space with really big heads & really skinny bodies (I wish)!!!!
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0318.jpg
Then we Soared
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0496.jpg
followed by helping find a cute little clown fish named Guido.....I mean Nemo. Guess I am sometimes a little bit like Dorie.
Thought this Hidden Mickey in the Seas was cool.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0345.jpg
Then it was time to accept a mission to Mars from Lieutenant Dan....I got to be the engineer.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0512.jpg
Eric always wanted to be an astronaut.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0520.jpg
We next helped GM test some new cars.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0526.jpg
Then we decided we were famished after all our cool adventures & that it was time to start our food touring of World Showcase. Our plan was to share all the samples & that way we could try more things.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0368.jpg
Our first stop was the Mouse Catch for a trio of cheese. Now we love some cheese & the chance to taste new ones is fun to us. This was a Dutch, an Italian & a Spanish cheese. They all got a thumbs up.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0369.jpg
Our next stop was Shanghai China. We got the Pork Pot stickers, Grilled chicken with cumin & traditional spices & a Happy Lychee drink. We got these & then went to the Lotus Blossom restaurant & sat down to enjoy them since it was sooooo hot outside. We really enjoyed all three of these & the drink was surprisingly good & so refreshing.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0371.jpg
Eric was having so much fun, I caught him hugging the Chinese version of a lion.....or maybe it was the happy lychee & the heat getting to him.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0373.jpg
The scenery in China is gorgeous.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0378.jpg
Then we spent one night in Bangkok. Here we tried the chicken coconut soup with mushrooms, lemongrass & ginger & the green papaya salad with shrimp. We have never eaten Thai & from how much we enjoyed these I believe we will be venturing out to a Thai restaurant soon.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0379.jpg
Then we went to my first choice for our first visit to Europe, Austria.
We had Leth Gruner Veltliner wine, Mushroom soup with chive dumpling, Paprika beef stew with bacon dumpling, & a Leth Riesling.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0380.jpg
We enjoyed being in Austria & being able to see Venice. :rotfl:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0381.jpg
Next we decided that it was time to get in some air conditioning for awhile & relax so we went to the American Adventure. They were having an event in the rotunda so we entered through the exit which was weird. I always love this show & it always makes me tear up a bit. I have to admit it makes me very proud to be an American. My favorite part is at the end when they show the montage of people as soon as I see Walt it's all over.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0386.jpg
When we came out the Taylor Dayne Eat to the Beat concert was going on so we walked over & watched for a minute.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/th_MVI_0392.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/?action=view&current=MVI_0392.flv)
Then we went to Tokyo, Japan. Even though we had been snacking, Eric wanted a meal, so I grabbed a spicy tuna roll (my first real sushi-which I enjoyed) & a California roll from the Food & Wine kiosk while he got food at Yakatori house.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0395.jpg
After that we got a cosmo slush in Paris & it was soooooo yummy. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0398.jpg
We browsed the shops in France & I wanted something sweet but the line for the patisserie was sooooo long that we went to the Cork Ireland kiosk & got the warm chocolate lava cake with Baileys ganache. It was so good, but it was really only about 2 bites & I ate it so fast no picture.
We browsed the shops in England & caught a bit of the British Invasion.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/th_MVI_0402.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/?action=view&current=MVI_0402.flv)
Then we found a spot in the lower UK area to watch Illuminations which is Eric's favorite Disney nighttime show.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/th_MVI_0427.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/?action=view&current=MVI_0427.flv)
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0405.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0414.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0428.jpg
A perfect ending to a very full day.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0431.jpg
After Illuminations, we walked slowly out the Internation Gateway & walked to the Beach Club to catch a bus back to SSR.
Eric said he had a great birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!

Up next: Magic Kingdom.....we finally made it to opening!!!!

Dan....the samples were 3-5 dollars for most things. I think the wine we tried was about 4 dollars. The Cosmo slush was 7 or 8.

Thanks Jenn. I got a new camera (a Canon SX 10IS) right before we left & for the most part was very impressed with the way the pictures came out. Some could have been better like MNSSHP parade pics......but I was still playing with the camera & figuring out what settings work best. I think the night shots were pretty good overall.

We had another early start on Sunday Oct 26th as I wanted to make sure to get to the Magic Kingdom to see the opening show. We ate breakfast in the room & headed out. As the bus pulled up, I saw the train pulling in & thought we were going to miss it, but the train stopped & I knew we were going to make it. Woohoo!!!! We walked briskly to the entrance through bag check & into the area in front of the train station. Before long we were greeted by the residents of Main Street.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0438.jpg
Then they even sang to us.....
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/th_MVI_0440.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/?action=view&current=MVI_0440.flv)
Soon the train was chugging on into the station.....
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/th_MVI_0442.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/?action=view&current=MVI_0442.flv)
And we got to see some of our favorite characters who then proceeded to count down with a special family to open the Magic Kingdom.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0446.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0448.jpg
We walked on under the train station & saw Alice looking like she had lost something perhaps a White Rabbit?????
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0450.jpg
We took in some of the Halloween decor as we strolled down Main Street. The pumpkins are even themed to match what they are decorating.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0458.jpg
Mickey & Minnie were looking so cute in their Halloween attire.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0461-1.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0462-1.jpg
Next up, we watched the Trolley show coming down Main Street.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0464-1.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0469.jpg
Here's a little sample......I have always wanted to see this & we finally did.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/th_MVI_0465.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/?action=view&current=MVI_0465.flv)
Then we made a bee line through the castle to Dumbo.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0473.jpg
All my visits to Magic Kingdom & I have never ridden Dumbo & neither had Eric. This was the longest line we waited in all week I think, but it was only about 15-20 minutes.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0477-1.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0535.jpg
Soon we were soaring above Fantasyland. I loved the perspective from up there, but man was that a short flight.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0480.jpg
We took a quick ride on Peter Pan on our way to the Haunted Mansion.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0538.jpg
We got stuck in our doom buggy for about 10 minutes, so I took a picture of Eric.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0496-1.jpg
And the wallpaper.....who knew it was purple?
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0498.jpg
Finally we got to visit the 999 Happy Haunts & I am still loving the renovations they did to the Mansion.
We found Mr Toad in the pet cemetary......poor old Toadie.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0509.jpg
On our way into Frontierland we ran into some old friends.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0539.jpg
Then, went for a refreshing Splash Down with Brer Rabbit & his crew.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0529.jpg
Rode the wildest ride in the Wilderness next
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0551.jpg
By then we were getting hungry so we headed back to Columbia Harbour house & Eric got in line while I got us a nice cozy table with a view.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0534.jpg
Eric had fish & chips & I had a tuna sandwich. It was tasty.

So when we last left our travelers, we had just had a nice lunch at Columbia Harbour House. When we came out of the restaurant, we happened upon some great jazz music & a couple of new characters heading to the river boat.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0538-1.jpg?t=1264264802
Then we saw a princess & a prince that used to be cute cuddly frogs.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0539-1.jpg
We walked around to try to catch the Hall of Presidents, but our timing was off, but we saw some cool pumpkins
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0542.jpg
and of course the obligatory side view of the castle---does anyone ever go & not take a million pictures of the castle?
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0543.jpg
We rode Snow White & then went to Toontown to catch the train which we rode to Frontierland. Then we walked on over to Adventureland.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0590.jpg
We rode with the scurvy pirates. Anyone else ready for the next movie with Capn' Jack?
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0571.jpg
We climbed up the treehouse for the great views.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0578.jpg
We then went to Hall of Presidents & browsed some of the new memoriabilia that they have in the lobby.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0594.jpg
The show is WONDERFUL & stirring. It really does make you feel proud to be an American.

The Imagineers got this redo very right in my humble opinion.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0609.jpg
We took a break to go to the potty & we saw the cutest thing. A little squirel munching away on a saltine cracker. He was turning it around & around in his cute little hands.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0618.jpg
We then enjoyed Philharmgic, Buzz & Carousel of Progress. Then of course we rode TTA & then went for our first ever comedy show at Monster Ince Laugh Floor. Really great interactive fun.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0641.jpg
We headed over to Toontown & saw how Mickey & Minnie had decorated for Halloween.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0643.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0653.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0659.jpg
I took alot of pictures of details like this one since Toontown is going away with the new Fantasyland expansion.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0660.jpg
We took a spin in a honey pot after looking at the Treehouse for some hidden Mickeys. Then browsed down Main Street on our way out of the Magic Kingdom. We saw a bit of the Move It Shake It Celebrate It street party.
Then we walked over to Bay Lake Towers to have a look around............wow is that a long walk after you have had a long full day at MK.
We had dinner reservations at The Wave at the Contemporary. Our table wasn't quit ready so we went over to the bar & got a mojito....it was so cool & refreshing after such a hot day.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0692.jpg
We shared an avocado citrus salad.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0694.jpg
and chicken lettuce wraps....these tasted like coffee to me....weird.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0695.jpg
I had the pork tenderloin & it was tasty.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0696.jpg
Eric had the chicken pot pie-which he didn't really like.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0697.jpg
We were too full for dessert. We made it a priority this trip to try new restaurants. This one was really not a favorite this trip so not sure we will go back to the Wave. The mojito was our favorite thing.
We caught a bus back to SSR & browsed around the lobby areas some.
We had another mojito at the Turf Club Bar.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0710.jpg
We found some pretty cool Disney touches in there.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0706.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0707.jpg
We then walked back to our room to turn in for the night but not before saying hello to Donald Duck at the pool.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0712.jpg

Up next.....free day wonder what fun we will get up to?

Thanks for continuing Melanie! Too bad about the Wave. The food did look good though. That Princess and the Frog jazz parade looks cool. I wish that they would keep it around for a while.

So glad you decided to continue Melanie!! Love your pictures.

We ate at The Wave last month and I was just kinda ehhh about it as well. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. There are so many good restaurants in WDW that I doubt this one will get a second visit from us.

Love your pics! You got some really great shots of the castle and flowers.

You are welcome Andrea. :teeth: It was cool seeing the Princess & Frog parade & I wish we would have stayed put & watched them sing aboard the riverboat.

So glad you decided to continue Melanie!! Love your pictures.

Glad you guys encouraged me to continue. Yeah the Wave isn't going to be a repeat for us either probably.....just too many places that we know are good to go back to one that is just so so. And, I have subbed to your report now I have 18 pages to catch up on........I haven't been dissing much & see all that I miss when I do....sheesh.

So this trip we had planned a few days that we would relax & not go into the parks. Today was one of those days.
We slept in which was very nice after 2 long days of hitting the parks. Then, we walked up front to have breakfast at Artist's Palette.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0701.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0578-1.jpg
Then we did some exploring around SSR---it is a really big resort & there are lots of things to see.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0728.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0586.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0588.jpg

After our exploration, we went back to the room & Eric headed to the fitness center while I caught up on editing photos. Next, we went to the pool. We decided not to go up to the main pool because we had a perfectly lovely pool near our building that had a great view of DTD. So we could hang in the pool & the hot tub & watch the characters in flight balloon go up. We had a great time relaxing there.
We went back to Artist's Palette & had lunch. I had a chinese chicken salad & Eric had some sort of wrap.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0733.jpg
We looked at the main pool area & decided we liked our quiet pool better.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0735.jpg

Next, we caught a bus to Winterland/Summerland mini golf by Blizzard Beach. This is such a cute place & we really enjoyed the theming. We decided to play the winter side. We practically had the course to ourselves.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0739.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0746.jpg

There are a couple of holes that when you sink your ball something pops up to surprise you. See the cute Mickey cookie?
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0747.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0749.jpg

Us being silly.....
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0594-1.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0595.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0753.jpg
It was a very close game & we ended up tied up! Mickey seemed to approve.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0754.jpg
We would have liked to play the other side as well, but it was getting late & we needed to head back to the resort to get cleaned up for dinner. We were having dinner with some friends that we made last year on our wonderful Adventures by Disney Backstage Magic trip that live in Orlando. We cleaned up & walked over to DTD (it was really great to be able to walk & not have to catch a bus). This is a view of our room across the lake at SSR from DTD.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0763.jpg
Our room was the 1st set of sliding glass door to the right of the bench.

We were having dinner at Raglan Road-the Irish Pub.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0602.jpg
We were excited to try it out.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0603.jpg
We didn't have to wait but a minute for Mildred & Sakina. There were hugs all around & then we went in to eat. It was so great chatting & getting caught up with each other over some great food.
I had a cocktail which I cannot recall the name of, but it packed a whollop.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0768.jpg
We had the Chicken Lickin' appetizer which was yummy.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0769.jpg
I had the Pie in the Sky-which was a delicious chicken pot pie.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0770.jpg
Eric had the Keen Eye for the Shepherds Pie-he loves shepherds pie & he said this was delicious.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0771.jpg
And then we shared the Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding which was really rich & yummy.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0772.jpg
Here we all are having a great time.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0776.jpg
It was great of Mildred & Sakina to take time out of their regular lives to come & meet us for dinner & we had a wonderful time.

Cont in next post as I have reached my photo limit.....

You are probably right about the chicken....I didn't like the flavor it gave the lettuce wraps. We love them at PF Changs, but these not so much.

After we left Mildred & Sakina, we caught a bus to the Grand Floridian & then the monorail to Magic Kingdom. We were heading in to see the regular Wishes show as this was really the only night that we would be able to see it because of the various halloween parties. We decided to see if we could watch from the train station as this is a spot I have always wanted to watch from. It really wasn't too crowded up there & we were treated to being able to watch Spectromagic up there as well. This would really be the perfect spot to watch parades & fireworks if Disney could come up with a way to make the flagpole go up & down like the periscope of a submarine.:lmao:
It was an added treat to get to see Spectromagic as we hadn't planned on having enough time to see it as well.

After the parade was finished, a bunch of people left the train station area & I was able to squirm myself into a chair by the rail with Eric standing behind me. SWEET!!!!!
Here's the crowd pilling into Main Street to watch Wishes.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0812.jpg
The next thing we knew, they dimmed the lights & Jiminy Cricket was telling us all about Wishes.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0828.jpg

We ate a quick breakfast in the room before grabbing a bus to head to MGM/DHS for the day.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0859.jpg
After having a few photopass pictures made in front of the hat because it is rumored that it may be disappearing, we made our way to Toy Story Mania to get a fast pass.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0861.jpg
This was our first time seeing this new area & I really liked the way they made it look like the PIXAR studios. We had planned to ride but the wait was already 40 minutes, so we headed on over to Rock N RollerCoaster instead.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0871.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0886.jpg
The theming & details like in ToT is why I love Disney so much. This was in the library.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0890.jpg
Whilst there, we were beckoned by some ghosts to join them.....
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0625.jpg
Thank goodness we made it out alive & saw a lovely Halloween display in the hotel windows.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0629.jpg
We then made our way to One Man's Dream which is a must do for us because without Walt there would be no Walt Disney World.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0891.jpg
We channeled our best inner Walt's.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0894.jpg
I took a million pictures in here because I am fascinated with anything that belonged to Walt, but won't bore you with all of them.

We were going to ride the Great Movie Ride next, but it was down. These windows decorated for the Mary Poppins premiere that happened at Graumanns were something I had never notice before.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0953.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0954.jpg
So instead of riding the movies, we went on a voyage under the sea with Ariel.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0964.jpg
Then, it was time for lunch at the Brown Derby.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0636.jpg
I really love the elegance & old Hollywood charm of this restaurant & it was so nice to come in & cool off & enjoy a great meal.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0969.jpg
We both had the Baby Greens Salad - with grape tomatos, candied pecans, Midnight Moon goat cheese and cabernet vinaigrette.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0970.jpg
For our entrees Eric chose the Grilled Atlantic Salmon - with baby spinach, cannellini beans, ugli tomato, warm bacon vinaigrette and Meyer lemon aioli & I had the Spiced-rubbed Black Grouper - with sauteed hericots verts and sunchokes, rainbow carrot slaw and citrus butter. Both, were excellent with the fish cooked perfectly. The grouper is the closest in the picture.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0971.jpg
I love the lighting in here.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0972.jpg
We even found a Hidden Mickey giving a nod to Jimmie Dodd of the Mickey Mouse Club on our way out.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0973.jpg
After our wonderful lunch, we rode the Great Movie Ride, but not before stopping for a moment for Eric to channel Grumpy.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_0986.jpg
We had seen Graumann's in Hollywood & so wanted to tour the inside when we were in Hollywood, but it just didn't work out, so this was a nice consolation prize.

So now it was about time to get an up close look at Disney Animation. We saw some concept art & maquettes from the Princess & the Frog.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1019.jpg
This made me pine for the days when you could see real artists at work at the Studios.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1021.jpg
We drew Carl from UP.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0643-1.jpg
And then we got to meet him too. I love how they even have his walker.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1024.jpg
This was a fun meet & greet. Russell even held my hand.

Our next exciting event, was meeting the stars of Monsters Inc.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1056.jpg
This was our first time meeting them & I was a little star struck.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0645.jpg
Then, we headed over for a visit with Kermit & Co.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1059.jpg
Love these guys....
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1068.jpg
In the Muppet shops....once again it's all in the details.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1082.jpg
We also saw 2 of our favorite Cars.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1076.jpg
We rode Toy Story again & then walked over towards the Sunset Blvd area for some ice cream & another couple of rides on our favorites.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0653-1.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1087.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0658.jpg
After those fun rides, we browsed in some shops & then went to get our seats for Fantasmic. The sky was looking really dark & cloudy so we were a bit worried that it might be cancelled. It was so humid out there that we were sweating like crazy. We passed the time chatting with the people sitting around us & the family in front of us had a brand spankin' new baby that was there to see his Mommy in the show.
Thank goodness the rain held off & we were rewarded with an awesome show.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1092.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1149.jpg
Some Imagination Huh?

On the way out we found this reference to Mortimer Mouse.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1154.jpg
And then said Goodbye to the Studios.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1157.jpg
We walked over to the Boardwalk because we did not want to wait on a boat. It's a long walk when your feet are tired.
We headed to the ESPN zone for some dinner.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0664.jpg
We had never eaten there before & the food was simple but good & plentiful. I had a hot dog & Eric had a chicken sandwich of some sort.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1161.jpg
After dinner, we went to one of our favorite spots to relax & have a drink--the Bellevue Room at the Boardwalk.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1163.jpg
We ordered a drink & played a game of Scrabble. Classic!!!!

WOW! You did have a full day!

I was cracking up at your picture of the 'bugs', 'bigger bugs' & 'Florida bugs' on the back of the Mulch, Sweat & Shears truck - I've never noticed that before - too funny!

I really need to take some time to look at all the details on Streets of America - we always just tent to walk right down the street without really taking it in.

What a great update Melanie! You took some amazing pictures. I love the Walt: One Man's Dream display. It is one of my favorite places to visit every time we visit. Brian makes us do the walk from Hollywood Studios to The Boardwalk all the time. I am so used to it now, but when you walk all day that is the last thing you want to do. I can't wait for more!

We were going to ride the Great Movie Ride next, but it was down. These windows decorated for the Mary Poppins premiere that happened at Graumanns were something I had never notice before.

We did have a full day. It's kind of amazing when you start writing these things & you realize all you accomplished in a day....makes me tired.

As you probably guessed from the title, this was our Animal Kingdom day. My plan had been to get there at opening, but we just didn't get up quite early enough. We had a quick breakfast in the room & then headed out.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK002.jpg
We made a bee line for Expedition Everest. We got a fast pass & the stand-by line was only 10 minutes so we went for our first ride with the scary Yeti.

After that, we timed it just right to see Nemo & Friends. I just love this musical. It is so colorfully done.

One of my favorite things to say on my journey in life is "Just keep swimming" so here is a bit of that part of the show.

After Nemo, we rode EE again. Yippee!!!!!
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0675.jpg
We got a nice refreshing glass of ice tea as it was so hot & we were parched.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK057.jpg
Then we took a walk along the Jungle Trek. We saw this cute bat with an inverted hidden Mickey :teeth:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK060.jpg
And then we saw a tiger taking a poo. :rotfl:

There wasn't much going on there, but I really liked the way they had decorated the vet area for Halloween.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK165.jpg
We visited the animals in the affection section. A hidden mickey on your butt ......hmmmmm.:rolleyes1
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK168.jpg
We got to see 2 animals up close & personal.
A really cute armadillo.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK171.jpg
And a prickly porcupine. I really wished we could touch his quills which she said were not really sharp & hard.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK172.jpg
After we got back, we got a refreshing frozen lemonade because it was so hot we felt like we were roasting.
We rode EE one last time for the day....3 times in one day was pretty good.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK183.jpg
Do you see the hidden Mickey?
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK179.jpg
I just love the Tree........it always amazes me with it's detail.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK180.jpg
Then, we visited our bug friends in the depths of the Tree of Life.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0700.jpg
I just love this show, no matter how many times I see it.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0702-1.jpg
After letting our bug friends exit first.....we headed out of the Tree. We decided with the heat that we had had enough of AK for the day, so we headed back to SSR.
We rested a bit & then got ready for a night out on the Boardwalk.
We had dinner reservationsn at Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK184.jpg
When we checked in they were having trouble with the table buzzer system, so we waited in the Crews Cup Lounge & had a glass of Pinot Noir.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK186.jpg
Vegetarians cover your eyes.....this is the meat case at Yachtsmans.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK185.jpg
We really enjoyed the bread & butter with hawaiian salt on it.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK187.jpg
We both had filet I think. Eric thought his steak at Jiko was better, but it was still a good meal. We shared mushrooms as a side dish & they were great.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK189.jpg
After dinner, we strolled over to the Boardwalk. We were headed for Jellyrolls.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/10-28-09AK200.jpg
I love this dueling piano bar. It's so much fun.

Here's a snippet of the guys singing Tainted Love that I requested. Excuse any extraneous singing you hear. While I was videoing, someone came over & told me it wasn't allowed so I stopped. Still can't figure out why you can't videotape in there.

We left Jellyrolls much earlier than we would have if we were staying at the Boardwalk but we had a great time. Back to SSR we went after a chock a block full Disney day of fun.

Up next.......lazy morning & up, up & away........

Love the "colorful" animal pictures you took! Funny how you can capture nature, especially the hidden mickey on the bat. How is Jellyrolls? I love piano bars and we have never been there. I think I want to try it out in October when we go. Oh, we are thinking about a cruise in August. It will be our first one!

So we started the day out with sleeping in which was great. We had a light breakfast in the room & then Eric went to the fitness center because he's good like that while I edited photos in the room because I am a lazy slug.:lmao: When he got back, we had another leisurely swim in the pool enjoying the view of DTD & the hot tub (which felt divine on my tired feet & legs). Then, we got ready for the day & headed out to DTD via our convenient foot path from SSR.
We had lunch at Earl of Sandwich.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1408.jpg
We both had yummy Mediterranean Chicken Salads. This was our first time not having sandwiches & the salads were just as good as the sammies.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1409.jpg
We did some shopping............I loved the interiors at TrenD.

We hung out with some Lego creations.

And behind the crab was our room for the week across the water.

We saw this beautiful creature......
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1422.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1435.jpg
And DTD again on the way back down.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1438.jpg
It was a weird sensation when the balloon first takes off & when it touches down again, but it wasn't really too scary while we were up there. We went up about 400 feet I think. I wish we had gone on around & then I could have gotten pictures of the Contemporary. About the only Disney icon you cannot see from up there is Cinderella's castle & he said the balloon would have to go up another 150-200feet to see it. I really would love to go back & do it at night when all the lights are sparkling & the fireworks are going off---how awesome would that be?
On our way back through Pleasure Island I stopped to have a pout outside the Adventurer's Club.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1441.jpg
I went a couple of times way back in the day. This area is like a ghost town now & it's so sad. I hope they do something good with it.
We stopped back by & had some treats in DTD. I had a giant oreo from Goofy's. She's dipping it in chocolate & then rolled it in crushed oreos.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1444.jpg
Eric had an ice cream from Ghiradelli's.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0718.jpgI couldn't eat my whole cookie because it was so rich so it went back to the room with us, but Eric ate all his ice cream.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1451.jpg

Then, we went back to the room to rest up because we were going to MNSSHP that night.

Up next..........Halloween party fun.

So we started the day out with sleeping in which was great. We had a light breakfast in the room & then Eric went to the fitness center because he's good like that while I edited photos in the room because I am a lazy slug.:lmao:

:lmao: I feel this way a lot too - Don is so good about food choices and exercise, and here I sit....... I'm getting better, I walk 4 miles, 5 days a week, it's the food part I have the most trouble with  And you certainly wouldn't catch me going to the gym on vacation!

Amazing views from the balloon, makes me want to try it even more!

That balloon ride looks fun. We will have to do it when we go in October. That oreo looks really yummy. I shouldn't have read this report on an empty tummy!

As for the cruise we are going August 17th (it is cheaper, and I am cheap). But you never know, we might change our minds since we haven't put the money down yet.

It is hard living with someone who is so good about excercise when I hate it so. I am doing pretty good on the food thing right now with Weight Watchers (just keep swimming :fish:), but I really have trouble getting motivated to excercise. I actually did go to the gym on the Disney Magic once during a 7 day cruise in the past & I was so proud of myself. :lmao:

You must try the balloon it was great.

I can't wait to go back & try the balloon sometime at night.
The oreo was so good but really rich. I took it back to the room & we nibbled on it a bite at a time the rest of the week.
Well, let me know if you change your mind about the cruise. It would be fun to cruise together. :sail:

I've been having some trouble with photobucket. The last 2 times I have uploaded photos there it has done something wonky to the computer, so I may try another site. Need to upload MNSSHP pics so I can do the next update.

Yes it felt like you could see for days from the balloon. Thanks for the support Jenn....I didn't feel like I needed to excercise after all that walking. :rotfl:

so you could see the contemporary but not the castle, that is weird since they are so close, unless it is because the castle is blocked by the contemporary.

You are the first person, that told about the hot air balloon ride. It doesn't seem so scary now.

You also said you went to the Adventures Club. I went to school with 2 cast members, that played in a band "Panama" at the Beach Club. They were so sad, when they shut down the Adventures Club. Here is a picture. David and Ron are brothers and they are on each end.

Thanks for reading. I have a video of the balloon ride too & I am uploading it now. I loved the Adventurers Club & it seems so sad that all those fun places are closed now.

Ok, ok Andrea. I am uploading pics now just for you! I had those problems with the pics & just kind of lost my mojo but I was thinking the other day just for completeness sake I should finish.

So after our ballooning adventure, we went back to SSR & had a nice nap to get ready for our evening at MNSSHP. It is amazing how refreshed you feel after a nap at WDW. We were ready for a great evening.

We got to the Magic Kingdom around 4:30.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0719.jpg
We had an early dinner reservation at the Plaza Inn so we went in & looked at the Halloween decorations that were around Main Street before heading to dinner.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1458.jpg
We had never eaten at the Plaza before but had heard people rave about their burgers.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0720.jpg
We both had cheeseburgers & wow were they good.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1468.jpg
The Plaza is a very small restaurant with a quaint ambiance. We will be back.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1466.jpg
As we came out of dinner, the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It party was going on, so we went over to the castle area & watched it. It was really cute.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1495.jpg
Then, we rode the TTA & I finally got a decent pic inside of Space Mtn which was closed for refurb.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1501.jpg
Next we rode Buzz & I beat Eric for the first time ever!!!!! Amazing.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0724.jpg
We also did the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor & I got called on to guess a number & proceeded to get called "psychotic" by a monster. It was embarrasing but fun!
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0735-1.jpg
We rode Pooh & Peter Pan & also caught a bit of a dance party that was going on.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1523.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1524.jpg
We also took a spin on the tea cups.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0733-1.jpg
Next we took a little boat ride.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1551.jpg
Then headed to the Haunted Mansion which had extra spooky lighting for the Halloween party.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1577.jpg
And a ghost outside chatting with guests. She was a southern belle & was pretty funny.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1581.jpg
After riding with the 999 ghosts, we stopped to check out the graveyard.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1576.jpg
Then we rode Thunder Mountain & Pirates.

Next up we found a place in front of the castle to watch the Villian Mix & Mingle & fireworks. I would have liked to be closer for the mix & mingle but we had a nice spot for fireworks.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1585.jpg
Hallowishes is an awesome fireworks show & it's not to be missed if you go to the party.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1633.jpg
My favorite part is at the end when you feel like you are surrounded by fireworks. Here's a bit of video from the ending.

After the awesome fireworks, we headed over to our favorite spot in Frontierland to watch the Boo to You parade-which might just be my favorite Disney parade. I love the music & all the characters in their Halloween costumes.
I finally got a picture of the Headless Horseman. Not saying it's a good picture, but at least I got one.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1652.jpg
Next up the mice.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1664.jpg
Then the cuddly 100 acre woods critters.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1665.jpg
Next some scurvy pirates came by.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1679.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1680.jpg
And a funny croc...
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0753-1.jpg
The next part of the parade is my favorite.....the Haunted Mansion section started out by the groundskeeper & his dog. Here's a video of this section. I love the gravediggers & the dancers.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/th_MVI_1684.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/?action=view&current=MVI_1684.flv)

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1694.jpg
Next up the Villians.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1714.jpg
Next was Goofy's Candy Co & the end.....
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1720.jpg
We loved the parade as always & would be singing "Boo to you & trick or treat" until we went to bed.
After the parade, we rode Pirates again & finished off our night with a ride on TTA.
We left the Magic Kingdom around midnight after a wonderful evening enjoying the Halloween festivities.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0766.jpg
We were back in the room by 12:30. Had a snack & chatted about our day before heading to bed after a long & full day.

Next up............Poly breakfast, we're on a boat & Jiko part deux

Disneygrl36
05-12-2010, 03:06 PM
After our late night at MNSSHP, we slept in until 9:15. We decided we would head over to the Poly & have breakfast at the Kona Cafe, which is something we had always wanted to do.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0769-1.jpg
We didn't have to wait but a minute for a table.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0772-1.jpg
I ordered Tonga Toast, which was huge & very sweet. Glad I tried it but it's too heavy really to eat a whole order of for me.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0773.jpg
After breakfast, we browsed around the Poly which really is a great themed place.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0770-1.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0775.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0782.jpg
Then, we took the monorail to the Contemporary.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0787.jpg
We saw more cool pumpkins in their lobby-I loved the one that looked like the Characters in Flight balloon.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0786.jpg
We went to the marina there & rented a Sea Racer boat to take out on Bay Lake & the 7 Seas Lagoon.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0792-1.jpg
We could have gone alot faster if we had gotten 2 boats, but wanted to share the experience. It was a beautiful day & we really enjoyed speeding aroung the lakes & looking at all the sights.

This was a great way to have some fun & see the MK from a different point of view.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0807.jpg
Before we knew it our time was up & we headed back to the Contemporary passing by the Grand Floridian & the Poly on the way back.

Then we headed back to SSR to rest a bit & to get ready to head back to Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner. We had such a great meal there at the beginning of the week, that we decided to eat there again, called & got another ADR.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1723.jpg
We saw some more creative pumpkins.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1721.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1751.jpg
We had another wonderful dinner with a lovely glass of pinotage which is a South African red wine. Our view was lovely.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0826.jpg
Jiko's delicious breads.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1753.jpg
We had an olive flatbread which was sooooo delicious. We split the same salad we had earlier in the week.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1755.jpg
And we both had the filet with macaroni & cheese this time. Oh my gosh, really this was the best steak we had all week. AMAZING!
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1756.jpg
Stuffed, we walked around the lodge a bit & went out to watch the animals.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1762.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0828-1.jpg
Then, we took a bus over to the Polynesian & had drinks in the Tambu Lounge.
A mai tai & a lapu lapu.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1776.jpg
As you can see the lapu lapu makes me very happy.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/IMG_1778.jpg

We ended our wonderful evening watching the Electrical Water Pageant & Wishes on the Poly beach. It was more crowded out there than it was the last time we had watched from out there, so we had to stand on the sidewalk, but it was still great watching the fireworks from this perspective.

Disneygrl36

We slept in again today...the long trip & the heat were catching up to us. We ate a quick breakfast in our room & headed out to EPCOT. Eric made me promise to leave the good camera in the room today & travel light with just my iphone since I had been lugging it around all week & he really wanted me to enjoy the moment of being in EPCOT on my birthday.

Then it was time to head to the Land for our Behind the Seeds tour. Now, I am not a gardener, but this is something I have always wanted to do simply because it involves going backstage. It was really cool to see how they do things & get up close & to get up close & personal with the plants.

Disneygrl36

After our tour, we headed to World Showcase to try some more foods from the Food & Wine Festival.
We had the Rock Shrimp Ceviche from Chile. It was so refreshing & light.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0883.jpg
We had the Canadian Cheddar cheese soup.
From New Zealand, we sampled a sea scallop with a vegetable slaw & this was also very good. From Ireland, we had the lobster & scallop pie-which was my favorite thing from the whole festival & the cheese selection which was also yummy. What's not to love about cheese & brown bread?
We browsed the shops in England & saw Mr Twining in the tea shop & I had a chat with Mary Poppins which was very cool to do on my birthday since she is my favorite.

From France, we had the short ribs with mashed potatoes & this was delectable as well. We also had a Grand Marinier slush which melted before we could get any icy goodness because it was so darn hot.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0891-1.jpg
While in France, we saw Marie from the Aristocats & she was so stinkin' cute I had to have my picture made with her.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0887.jpg
We browsed the shops here as well.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0889.jpg
We also saw Impressions de France which is our favorite film.
From down under, we tried a Lamb Chop with red wine sauce & some kind of cake. Both were tasty.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0892.jpg
Eric tried a falafel from Morocco & it was nasty-really the only thing we tried that we did not like. We also tried the Beef Tenderloin from South Africa & it was good.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0894-1.jpg
After all that sampling & being out in the heat, we were ready for some AC & luckily it was almost time for our wine tasting. So, we headed to the Wonders of Life pavillion which was the festival center. It made me sad to go in there & remember all the cool stuff you used to be able to do in there. We browsed a bit in the shopping areas & bought the festival cookbook.
Then we went to our Louis Jadot wine tasting. This was a lot of fun & I would like to do more of these type events when we go back to the Food & Wine Festival. We tasted 2 pinot noirs & 1 rose. It was cool to learn all about the specifics of the vineyards & the growing districts in Burgundy. We really enjoyed it & liked all 3 wines. The rose was a surprise & really tasty.

After, that we Soared & then shopped in Mouse Gears to spend our bday cards.

By now, we had decided to skip our planned reservation at Rose & Crown & head on out of the park. This is surprising for us since we like to end the trip with a great meal & evening entertainment & it was my birthday after all. BUT, it was really hot this day & we were just wilting & not really enjoying things the way we normally do. So one last ride on Spaceship Earth & we left EPCOT to head back to SSR.

We dropped off our bags in our room & then walked over to DTD which was really crowded for the Halloween festivities.

We had a nice pasta dinner at Wolfgang Puck express that just hit the spot for some reason.

We shopped a little to finish spending our bday cards in World of Disney & then went for an ice cream at Ghiradelli's.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/img_0913-1.jpg
We then headed back to SSR stopping off in the lobby to see the pumpkins there.

We packed, rested, chatted about our trip & had a late night snack of wine & popcorn in the room before heading to bed.

It was a great day, but I think we were just getting pooped. It had been a busy trip with lots of fun & it was really hotter than we had expected it to be at the end of October. Eric also had to bring up the fact that we are getting older & maybe can't go as non-stop as we used to! Thanks for that honey. :scared1: But I think in the future we will do a park day, more restful day, park day etc. to save getting so pooped out. Plus as we discovered this trip, there is alot of fun stuff to do that isn't in the parks.

Day 10........Bye Disney World
We ate breakfast in the room & called for bell services to take us to the front with our bags on the golf cart. Checked out & waited for Magical Express.
Eric sat on a bench & contemplated how much money he had given Mickey over the course of the last 9 days.

Before we knew it, we were back home in good ole Tennessee. Stoped at Subway as we usually do for some lunch & headed home to love on the dog after missing her terribly.

It was a great birthday trip for both of us & as always we are ready to head back to Walt Disney World in the future & have more fun.

Since I have drug my feet so badly finishing this trip report, we leave for 2 days for the beach staying at DVC Hilton Head. I may write up a report for that as well, but not sure where it would go on the boards.

I LOVE the update! I cannot wait to go in October this year for our anniversary! We went there for our honeymoon and did the MNSSHP and it looks like they decorated a lot more since 2005. We will have to check out the Plaza, since we haven't eaten there either. I am glad that you beat Eric at Buzz Lightyear. It is very rare that I can beat Brian.

Brian and I love the Kona Cafe. Their food is awesome! I never realized that the resorts did anything for Halloween. It kinda reminds me of Christmas time.

I like the Behind the Seeds Tour. We did it once and I think that I would like to do it again since my pictures the first time weren't so good. It looks like you had a ball on your birthday. I can't wait to do the Food & Wine fest again. This time I know to take my time and spread it out over a couple of days.

Thanks for finishing your report!

Glad you enjoyed the rest of the trippie Andrea. You are going to love WDW in October.......I will be hoping the weather isn't so hot for you. Spreading the Food & Wine over a couple of days really worked well for us & we were able to try lots of things.

I started a trip report for our trip starting tomorrow on the DVC board. :teeth:
