Juan says “BAAAA!”? What kind of TR title is that??? You’ll see! ;) (it was funny to DH and I in the moment...might not be now...!)
If you read my PTR, you know that DH and I have Annual Passes this year, and our DS is still under the age of 3 (and therefore free).
Combine those two factors, along with enough air miles for almost free airfare and we just had to squeeze in another trip on the long holiday weekend: September 3-7! It also worked out quite well that our DS’ 2nd birthday was on September 1, so we celebrated with him all trip long.
Very early on we selected CSR as our resort of choice. We almost stayed here on our honeymoon back in 2006, but we chose AKL in the long run (no regrets there, LOVED it!). Since then, we have caught a few glimpses of CSR from the ME bus, and we always thought it was beautiful and we longed to stay there at some point. The more I read about this resort, the more I wanted to stay there. This trip, it was the perfect fit.
So, in case you are new to my PTRs/TRs here is my little family:

Hey there!! I hope to get more posted tonight yet. Still working on getting the pics uploaded and all that.
Yeah! You started already. Your reports are always a favorite in our house because Liam loves the pictures of Henry.
PS thanks for all the food porn, especially the dessert party!
Aw! That's so sweet!!!!! Hi Liam!! :wave2: Henry likes to see pics of other DIS kids too. :goodvibes
No prob on the food! I generally wait until I'm posting about that meal on my TR, but I was so tired that night and I just wanted to post something, itching to share my trip a bit! So food it was! There is a bit more beyond that, but the pics aren't uploaded yet. The dessert party was worth every single penny!
I can't believe how much Henry's hair has grown!
Can't wait for you to get started.
Isn't he just SHAGGY? It was really cute sometimes-that shaggy boy hair, but just awful other times. There is a hair cut in this report....:goodvibes

You were very smart to post a pre hair cut picture of Henry in order to keep the suspense wether you made it to the barber shop! :goodvibes He lloks so happy in that picture!
I am really looking forward to your report, especially to your experience at CSR, that's a resort that I find very appealing as well.
:lmao: Isn't it funny how animals say different things in different languages? During my Spanish classes in high school I thought that was hilarious!! And yep, you are right, in English a sheep says "baaaaa"...what does a sheep say in German?
Overall, we really enjoyed CSR...I have a lot more detail-and pics of course-coming up, but we both said we would stay there again in the future!

I'm in - I love all your trip reports.
Thank you!!! :goodvibes
You know I am here!!! I am so excited to read another Brook and Co. TR!!! party:
Hey CP! Thanks for reading! You are going to be writing a TR for your upcoming trip, right? :hyper:
Woo Hoo! http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/Smilies/yahoo.gif You've started! Can't wait to hear all about it. :thumbsup2
I love that little emoticon! Thanks for reading...and I owe you a PM back...I'll get to it, I will!
Subbing! I can't wait to hear all about it. I loved your last TR and I am excited that I get to read this one from the beginning. :goodvibes
Hey there! Thanks for joining in here too!
I'm in!! Can't wait to read all about your fun trip and find out the meaning behind your title! :cool1:
Thank you for reading! The TR title is just goofy...I seriously couldn't think of anything else that would fit. The "Baaaa!" part fits VERY well, and the Juan part was just a very silly moment!!
Just discovered your PTR's :) I am halfway through all of your old stuff...love reading it all!
We are staying at CSR in April/May and am so excited to read your trip report :) Hooray!

Hello there! Thanks for reading!!! CSR is a beautiful resort! I'll be sharing our thoughts on it, and lots of pics. :thumbsup2
You know I'm along for this ride!
Hey there!!! :goodvibes
I'm in for the ride too!!! I'm ready, I'm ready - let's go! :cool1:
I'm so stinkin' excited, I swear....:rotfl2:
Heather
:lmao: Glad I can provide some good excitement! I hope to entertain ya'll! I think it will be pretty easy being we are all Disney World freaks....;)
Wow!!! Not even 6 hours and you have a page 2!! I had better hurry up and write or I'll be on page 3! ;) Can't wait to hear ALL about the adventures of you three!! :yay:
You were the last poster on page 2! I couldn't believe I came back to 3 pages of responses! It really is so sweet!
Hi! Just found your TR- here for the review of CSR and to hear your adventure! Quick question- no pastries as a snack credit- what about a bagel and cream cheese? Any idea?
Welcome! Thank you for joining in! I'll be sharing our thoughts on the resort, and quite a few pics!
I am not certain on the bagel/cream cheese...I don't recall even seeing a bagel... Pepper Market has all the pastries in one section that you can just pic up and put on your tray, and Rix kinda has the same...KatMark, do you know if there are bagels at Pepper Market or Rix?
:rotfl:Page 3 and not even to Day 1! I'm in for the ride!
I know it-we aren't even in Disney World yet! Thanks for reading!
I'm late, I'm late for a very important trip report. This will teach me not to clean house and wash clothes before checking the dis.
Oh no, you aren't late - no worries!!! :goodvibes But, it still makes for an excellent excuse to DIS first thing in the morning.

Glad to hear that you made it without the boot. I've already been enjoying your food porn. I hope to have a few corn dog nuggets on your behalf in about 11 days.;)
11 days....:cloud9: Despite just coming back, I'm still jealous! I just want to sit on Main Street and listen to the music, take in the sights, and the SMELL of the food. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! ENJOY those nuggets for me!
Can't wait to hear how CSR was. leaving in 1 week 6 days for CSR on a 12 night vacation!!!!!!
Oh, wow! VERY NICE!!! For a quick review-we really enjoyed CSR! We both said we would stay there again in the future. It's a beautiful resort - I couldn't get over how pretty it was everywhere we turned!

We ended up in the AK on Sunday and not DHS though.
Can't wait to read all about it....I wasn't privy to the tweets so it will all be new to me:goodvibes
Wouldn't it be fun if you were in some of my pics? Though, it would be a bit of a bummer because we didn't meet up!
I kept my eye out for 'marked' DISers, but didn't see any the entire trip...I know there were quite a few of us there though!

I know in the past they've had bagels at the Pepper Market. Now, whether or not they were on the DP, I'm not sure (probably because I don't eat bagels). I'll see if I can find out when we are there next week.

Our adventure starts on Wednesday, September 2, 2009. We arrived in the Minneapolis area around 10:30 am. Joe had a computer nerd certification test scheduled for Noon, so to kill some time we found a Home Depot store and he and Henry buzzed around the store looking at cool guy stuff while I slept in the car.
Yep, I slept in the car.
I had went to bed the night before not feeling the best, and that morning I felt terrible. I had a nasty cold and I could tell I had a fever, as I was wrapped up as tight as I could be in my sweatshirt. While this summer in Minnesota has been cool, it wasn’t that cool.
I was pretending the cold and fever didn’t exist, :wizard: I was determined not be sick this trip!!! (If you read the last two TRs, you well know about our sickness at WDW :sad2:) But that cold was kicking my butt that morning.
Eventually it was time for Joe’s test, so we dropped him off and Henry and I pointed the car for the nearest Target. I needed some meds.
Meds were found and purchased, a nap by the little Mister was taken, and we were soon back to pick up Joe. After a very short time, he came down in the elevator with a giant smile,
“I passed!”
It’s official. He’s a real geek now. He’s got initials after his name on his work email signature. ::yes:: We now had two reasons to celebrate, Henry is two, and my hubby is a Certified Nerd. ;)
We then set our goal on food. Despite the cold, my stomach was growling pretty good and I knew I should get some serious fluids going in me. TGIFriday’s was the winner because of a great coupon I had for a BOGO entrée.
Burgers were consumed (sorry no food pics) and I think I drank about 5 glasses of water along with taking the meds. By the end of the meal I was feeling a tiny bit better.
Next up, we stopped at the Mall of America. Again, Joe and Henry went in while I napped in the car. Joe took him on a couple rides in Nickelodeon Universe. After a short while I woke up and when I called Joe to meet up with them – guess where they were? None other than the Disney Store!
We browsed for a good while and resisted buying anything considering where we were headed later that night.
A few other quick stops at various stores, and eventually it was time for us to head to the Park N Fly and onto the airport for our flight.
We arrived at the airport with plenty of time for security…except that I had forgotten to take the little plastic baggies-o-fluids out of the carry-ons. (and for those of you who didn’t read my PTR, we only took carry-ons, so there were a lot of little 3 oz bottles and tubes!).
“Bag check.”
“Bag check.”
“Bag check.”
A raised eyebrow stare from the security officer to me…
“Oh geez…sorry…”
They were good about it, but every single bag of ours had to be double checked.
Oops. :rolleyes1
After holding up the line for a good 10 minutes (sorry folks!), we were on the way to our gate.
A cheeseburger Happy Meal was purchased, a diaper was changed, and more meds were taken. I am very happy to report, it was in the airport that I started to feel better and my fever broke. :thumbsup2
Soon we were boarding the plane.
The very teeny little plane.
I couldn’t believe how small this plane was; our knees literally hit the seat in front of us. Joe somehow managed to wrestle the car seat into the chair. I’m fairly certain it was an act of God that he was successful in this as I haven’t a clue how he managed to fit himself in between the seats and contort his body in the manner which is required to secure a giant car seat in those wee little plane chairs.
But he did it. The Certified Nerd is not only a smarty, but he’s also quite determined…and apparently flexible.
Before we were even left the tarmac Henry was asking to watch the movie “Cars”.
This kid is an addict! :rotfl:
We tried to explain to him we had to wait until the plane was in the air, which I sincerely don’t think he understood, but he did wait pretty well, and shrieked with excitement when the laptop came out and “Cars” started.
This was the most relaxing flight I’ve had in two years. He happily wore Joe’s headphones and watched his movie. I actually NAPPED.:yay:
The flight went smoothly, and I am thrilled to report since the merger between NWA and Delta they now serve a snack again! For free! :woohoo: I munched on pretzels and a Diet Coke. Sweet.
Approximately 10 minutes before the flight landed, Henry finally fell asleep….of course!
Our flight landed right around 11:20 pm Eastern. WE ARE IN ORLANDO!!
Another item that has changed since the NWA/Delta merger…the location of where NWA flights arrive. We were on the opposite side of the terminal and completely disoriented. Thankfully, MCO is pretty simple and after a bit of wandering we found the ME area without much of an issue.
Much to my surprise there was a slight line, but it all moved very quickly.
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643562114_vpekD-M.jpg
Our luggage went under the bus, and we boarded.
It all hit me at that moment in staring at the red seats with the gold stars…we are here…we are about to be taken to the Happiest Place on Earth! It’s real!!
I couldn’t stop smiling.
Henry curled up on Joe’s lap as we waited for more people to board the bus.
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643562202_FNLCG-M.jpg
Joe isn't really sleeping in this picture...but Henry is!
About 15 minutes later a GAGGLE of teen girls boarded the bus and sat all around us. It seemed they were a sports team of some sort.
One girl left her phone on the airport monorail.
They recovered it by calling airport security and a few other phone calls.
Just in case you wanted to know that. ;)
Henry slept through all their excited talking and shouting – so all was well and very soon we were arriving at our first drop stop of Pop Century.
I thought of MeMom and Jill.
The teen girls thought Pop was “so cute!”
Next stop, CSR!
When the bus pulled up, Joe and I looked at each other and grinned. It was just as beautiful as we remembered and we were excited for our trip to finally begin.
We entered the beautiful lobby, gasped and grinned some more.

Henry slept.
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643562269_CXELZ-M.jpg
As soon as we set him down in the car seat, he rolled right over onto his belly!
We were directed to Casitas 5. I mentioned this was not what we had requested, and she said she didn’t have anything noted on our reservation…so….either our TA didn’t put that through, or something got screwed up along the way. :confused3
The awesome CM showed us on a map where we were currently located, then checked for a Cabanas room-which there was one. She allowed us to choose which we would like – I let Joe pick – he opted to keep where we were first assigned in Casitas 5.
She gave us a birthday button for Henry and “I’m celebrating!” buttons for Joe and I, a coloring book with crayons for Henry, and all the other necessary information. Soon we were on our way to Casitas 5.
Despite being exhausted, and still not feeling 100%, I was thrilled to be there. The resort was stunning. The walk wasn’t too far, and we found our room without any problem. I knew what to expect when we opened the door, but Joe always resists looking at resort pictures so he can be surprised. He approved with a big smile and a comment about how nice it was…I agreed. The room was great. Very clean and the décor is truly beautiful.
The rest of the night kinda blurs. Henry was still crashed out, so we just laid him on one of the Queen beds with pillows all around him (I still worry he’ll tumble out!). He slept solid for the rest of the night. I think Joe unpacked…I took the “night” meds I had bought and zonked out in seconds flat.

Great start although I am sorry you didn't feel well at first. It is going to be so much fun reading the TR and seeing how much Henry has changed and enjoyed this trip. It was a great time to go also with no lines. We are planning to take my DN at that time of year just for that reason. Last year I took a quick trip the week right after Labor Day and it was AMAZING to walk on to all the rides. I even did Dumbo there was such a short line. LOL. Can't wait to read all about the trip.

It was a SHORT trip. :guilty: We didn't like that part of it, but it was better than no trip!
I couldn't believe how chill the plane ride was with Henry in his car seat, completely content watching Cars. He had his movie, his sippy, and his toy cars and he was SET! It was amazing.
Does Aaron curl up in a ball on his tummy with his butt sticking up in the air still? It's so absurdly cute when kids do that, and the fact that Henry did it IN his car seat was hilarious at 1 am!

Oh gosh, that would have been HILARIOUS! I wish I had thought to have the CM write that on his pin! I'm going to have to remember that and tell Joe when he wakes up. :lmao:
Oh yes, they were quite loud...I'm sure everyone heard every detail. The Head Coach was sitting one row up and across the aisle from me, and she was EXTREMELY loud. I so wanted to ask if she could just tone down a tad bit, or get up and go talk to the girls instead of yelling down the bus aisle...it was after midnight at this point, and we had a sleeping baby...but....thankfully all was fine - both for their cell phone and Henry zonked out! We got some really fun Henry pictures this trip-he was SO animated and into everything!
Hurrah!! You've arrived. :yay: So sorry the trip started out with a fever. But if anything can fix it, the happy place can!
Thanks for the "warning" about Northwest flights arriving into a different part of the airport. That would have freaked me out! I am totally directionally challenged.
My goodness CSR looks like a BEAUTIFUL resort!
Can't wait for more!!
No prob on the warning about NWA/Delta. We were disoriented there for a bit, it was really late and the airport was EMPTY, but then we realized, "Hey, we've never seen a fountain..." and Joe says "That looks like a hotel in here?" Then I realized, it IS the hotel, and we are on the opposite side. Funny thing, they still have a Disney store, and a KSC store...it just looks slightly different...it can really screw with your head late night!
Your choices on the flight will be peanuts, pretzels or spice cookies. CHOICES! :thumbsup2 (they still have the items for sale too) Oh, and one item I forgot to say-they showed a movie on the way down! It was a completely adult movie and had about 7 girls in their undergarments within the first 30 seconds---on a flight to Orlando...but, I digress....it was a movie!
CSR was really beautiful! I have quite a few pics coming up...stay tuned!
Awwww...I'm sorry you started off your trip not feeling so well, but I'm glad to hear you started recovering quickly! Henry is just so cute!!! He looks just adorable sleeping in his stroller!!!
Loved your check in pictures, the lobby at CSR looks amazing!!!!
I can't wait to hear about your first full day!!
Thanks Jen! I was relieved that I started to feel better after the meds. It would not have been fun to fly with that fever. And I always feel so awful about flying if I'm sick since other people are so much more apt to get what I have. :sad2: I tried to keep my mouth covered as much as possible and keep to my seat!
The CSR lobby made me gasp - all the light fixtures and the architecture, it is really grand and beautiful. I love the detail!
My DD Paige who is 17 would be one of those girls to lose her dang phone. LOL!
Henry is so cute sleeping.
So where is all this food porn posted. I want to see it!

Brook, I just remembered - did your bus go to AKL after CSR? Did the driver say something wether Jambo or Kidani would be the first drop off there? I have this panic about being stuck on the ME bus for ages...
Since our bus came in so late, it went a really strange route just catering to those on the bus-instead of having the people line up for certain buses. It stopped at Pop, then CSR, then it was going to the Poly, then to All Star Sports. So I really don't know if they do Jambo or Kidani first...that is a great question. I'll be able to answer in December, but that's a long time to wait in panic! :sad2: Is Pilferk staying at Kidani...I wonder if they are doing ME....hmmmm
Great start! I'm in for the duration!
Thanks for joining in!!
I'm sorry about you not feeling well, but glad the fever broke (hope it doesn't come back). LOVE the lobby pictures--it is beautiful at night! Looking forward to more (and Henry is adorable!).
CSR was so so pretty at night-and during the day! I loved the way the light was at night, reflecting on the lake outside. I cannot recall if I ever got a shot of that or not...I hope I did!
Thank you for the Henry comment! :goodvibes Lots more of his face to come...
Wow!! Already a big thread! Glad to hear you cold/fever subsided quickly and you got to rest on the way. Henry is sooo adorable sleeping in the stroller!
I can't believe we are at 6 pages already! I'm enjoying reading everyone's comments though, and am flattered at everyone following along-hopefully I don't disappoint! But, we have a lot of pictures...so I don't think anyone will mind...:goodvibes
Thank you for the Henry comment! We love that pic on him in a ball. :lovestruc He was sooooo pooped!
Great first day! I hope you woke up the 2nd day feeling better. The picture of Henry sleeping is his carseat is too cute. :lovestruc
We'll see how I do on the second day....more should be coming this week, Thursday at the latest...:rolleyes1 :goodvibes
And thank you as well for the comment on Henry!
:lmao: Brook, you seriously crack me up! Congrats to Joe on becoming a Certified Nerd!!
I'm so sorry you started out the trip feeling sick - I bet you were totally thinking "NOT AGAIN!!" I hope you woke up the next morning feeling fine and ready to tackle the World!
The pics of Henry sleeping are just too precious :goodvibes
Hee hee. :teeth: I'll be sure to pass on the Congrats! And for the life of me I cannot recall what his certification letters are, I think it's the VCP....ya, that makes sense VMWare Certified Professional. Now what is VMWare? I don't really understand it all...but have to deal with it every day at work! (and so does he...thankfully he understands it, and my job doesn't require me to actually GET it, just use it!)
I was thinking "not again!" - exactly! I was so irked the night before when I could feel that cold settling in. Ugh.
Great start to the TR!! Sorry you were not feeling well on your trip down. Hopefully you were fine the rest of the week. Henry looks so cute sleeping in his seat. Cannot wait for the next update!!:thumbsup2
Thank you!!! We'll see very soon how the meds do - I hope to have another update this week by Thursday at the latest!
And thank you for the compliment on Henry - we love that pic of him with his butt in the air and his hair all messy!
Henry has changed a TON since the last trip - not only is he just bigger, but even his likes and his demeanor. It was great!
I loved this time of year and would go back in a second! It was HOT, but it felt good to me since Minnesota has been so cool this summer. Plus, without lines-you can just get into the air conditioned ride all the faster. ;) We did a bunch of stuff late-day as well with no lines...more on that coming soon! Are you planning on taking your DN next year?
Wow, I can't believe that you were sick for your trip.
I know! :sad2: At least it wasn't the "I know where every bathroom at the AK is..." type sick though.;)
Aww, so sorry you got sick...go figure!
Movies + Headphones + Kids = Happiness on the Plane!!
Kathy
::yes:: Especially Cars with this little one! We did watch Horton Hears a Hoo the other night (our first family movie night!) and he sat still enjoying it until about 20 minutes from the end when he got a teeny bit antsy. So, I think we are able to broaden his horizons a bit...:rotfl:
Yes, it is really funny!! Sheep in Germany say Määäh. The Ä is pronounced like an "a" in animal. And the H is silent.
I can hear that - Maah, maah, maah - a sheep with a German accent.
Congrats to Joe! And I am glad the meds seemed to make the beginning of your trip go better, Brook.
Thank you!! I was very happy to have that fever break, it made me truly feel a lot better for the flight.

Have you seen this third video?? http://*****************/2009/09/12/videos-from-d23-walt-disney-parks-meeting-announcing-new-updates-to-dl-and-wdw/ I imediately thought of Henry!
Oh cool videos! I haven't been able to watch them all yet - but will!!! :yay: When I first heard about that Cars Land (when it was just a rumor, now it's REAL!) I told Joe and he agreed we'll just have to go to DL now when it opens! :rotfl2: I wish I didn't have to go get ready for work and I could watch all those right now!
Thats what goats say here!
:lmao:
I'm glad your fever broke and you started feeling better! How not fun to be on vacation and not feel well!
I would not have done well on a tiny plane.
Thanks for thinking of us when you stopped by our home. Nice to know the girls thought it was so cute!
Especially vacation at WDW when all you want to do is go, go, go and see everything...but we'll see how it turns out the next day...more TR coming soon! (and if you followed my Tweets, you know-no matter what-it didn't slow me down too much!)
I actually thought of you on the plane MeMom! It was bad to me - so I know if anyone on that flight wasn't a fan of small spaces, oh boy, they wouldn't have been okay...I hope you never get a flight that small for any of your flights! (Our plane back was normal, thankfully)
I chuckled under my breath when the girls were raving about how "cute" it was...! :goodvibes
Sorry you started trip sick..My DD spent two of our WDW vacations sick, we leave Sat and I had to take her to the dr on Thurs b/c she was sick! I thought NOT again, but dr gave her a Z pack so she is already getting better! Cant wait to read more!
Oh no! That is awful! Thankfully we haven't been sick to the point where we had to go see the doctor. That would just be awful on a WDW vacation (or really...any vacation at all!) I am VERY glad to hear she is doing better now!!!
:lmao::lmao: Then German sheep really are in luck that they don't have to learn American if they want to speack to American goats! :rotfl: German goats say "meck"... :rolleyes1
:rotfl2: Love it! I wouldn't even know how to spell what American goats say...we call it bleating..."Naghhhh"???? :lmao:
Yeahhh! A new Henry (and Company) trip! Subscribing. :thumbsup2
Thank you for reading! Lots of Henry pics coming up!!!!!
Hi, Brook. I have been reading your TR and PTR for a long time now. I feel like I know you and your family. Henry is adorable! You do a wonderful job of writing. I love the way you share your life, your trips and your love of Disney.
This is my first post. I decided to register on the board today so I could tell you how much I enjoy reading your reports and looking at your photos.
Oh wow! Thank you for making my TR your first post! :goodvibes I am so glad you posted and commented - thank you for the compliment! I am happy to hear you enjoy my reports and pictures. I try to spread that Disney magic through the TR - hopefully it comes across!
I hope to "see" you around more! And WELCOME to the posting side of the DIS! :thumbsup2

Oh no! That is my worst fear, someone waking up sick on our vacation departure day! I'm glad you were able to "sleep it off" and starting feeling better.
Congrats to Joe on his "nerd" test. My husband is also a certified nerd, so I know how hard those test are and how excited they are when they pass!
You are so lucky that Henry was a such a good little traveler! I really believe that the carseat helps so much!

This trip Saturday is our first trip Home, so I am excited, and by reading your TR (and other great ones) I am getting my mind right!
:cool1::cool1::cool1:
Thanks!
It's also kinda funny to see how your son does the same things our son did at his age. I am enjoying that, too. Just wait until he gets into some of the other movies and stuff. My son is really into Transformers and Scooby Doo right now. It's so funny to see my son watching the same cartoon as I did as a kid!
By the way, a movie player and headphones, best thing made for a plane and a kid!!!!!
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Welcome home!
I made it on the 6th page, which isn't too bad considering I barely Dis'd all weekend. So you are off to a bit of a rocky start with a cold and fever, but I predict you recover quickly. I stayed in Casitas 5 this summer. I liked the location. Hope you did, too. Your lobby pictures are beautiful and your little guy is so cute!

I followed you over from the AKL thread. I'm glad you felt better for the flight. Congrats on your DH being a certified geek! Mine is just a regular old run of the mill geek. :)
David Sedaris does a funny bit about how rooster calls differ from language to language.
I love how children can sleep just about anywhere. I used to have that ability, but seem to have lost at an age where I think I'd appreciate it more.

thanks for the Happy Birthday to Lanie wishes! I DID cry. Melted down that night; so happy that she's healthy & strong but bittersweet that this first year went sooo fast!:cutie:
The pics of the lobby are getting my excitement level up--so beautiful! You guys really have an "eye". What kind of camera do you have? I'm thinking of buying a new one for our trip. The Nikon D40 is tops on my list.
You just can't win with sickness and trips, huh? At least it doesn't seem like a stomach issue....

My DIS time is severly limited of late, but wanted to take a quick minute and say welcome home! I read your updates, but don't have time to fully multiquote. Love it so far, looking forward to more, sorry about the cold, glad Joe passed his IT Cert, (tell him I said "Welcome to the ranks"), glad the flight was nifty albeit cramped, & glad Joe like the resort room.
Definitely better than no trip! That is awesome that he was so occupied on the plane! Hopefully Aaron will be that way when we go to AZ in November for a wedding.
Yes! Aaron still sleeps like that too! I am glad there is still a part of him that is still a baby!;)

Wanted to join in and say that I am looking forward to the rest of your Trip Report. I have a son who will be 2 in November and we are starting to toy around with the idea of a WDW vacation in January. Your Henry seems so layed back compared to my little guy. I wish Maclaren (my son) would sleep like that. He rarely falls asleep anywhere other than his crib. He doesn't even fall asleep in the car late at night...crazy kid. That picture of Henry curled up in his stroller was precious!! I absolutely dread the thought of a 12 hour flight though.
Does Henry sit through a whole Disney movie? Maclaren hasn't done that yet. His favorite show is Wow Wow Wubbzy on Noggin(I know... GASP, it isn't Disney!!), and he will watch that until we have to turn it off.
Eagerly awaiting your next installment and your big news.

:rotfl2: Sorry for keeping everyone in suspense!! Last night we had friends over for dinner and to watch a church service online, so there was very little DISing happening for me.
Seems to be a trend as of late...which I am not liking being I cannot keep up with anyone's reports! :sad2:
Anyway! Quitting my job....no new job offer was found in Orlando - wouldn't that be wonderful though?! :cloud9:
Here is the scoop-nothing too exciting like moving to Orlando, but it IS exciting for this family:
When Henry was born I had zero intentions of going back to work. The plan was for me to stay home, maybe work a part-time job a couple evenings a week. But, my boss offered me a part-time position, working from home.
Hello!
Can't be that!
So, I took it-it was GREAT. Loved it!
However, on my first day of this new position I was also offered a healthy raise and a promotion - but it would have to be full-time.
Joe and I weighed our options. We talked, we prayed. We were still in some serious debt at that point in our lives (but climbing out), and honestly, I wanted the new position. I felt committed to my job still at that point.
So we went for it! And it was great! Our close friend watched Henry while her two kids were at home. Henry was 5 months old when I went back full-time.
Fast forward 1.5 years later (today).
I'm still liking my job-I truly do, but I am just DONE with it. Completely and utterly DONE. I just feel like it's time, I have a release from it.
It's time to be home with my little man, and any possible future children. (MeMom, you can throw in a coin for us in October if ya want, I wouldn't object. ;))
We are pretty much out of debt (minus a few things-like the house and DVC). We thought I would be able to leave my job if and when we ever sell the house, but Joe has crunched the numbers a dozen times, and we see that while things are going to be different, things will be tighter - we can do it now!!
We won't be going to Disney 3 times a year.
But, I'm okay with that. I truly am.
And Joe did crunch the numbers to still allow for 1 Disney trip a year. :goodvibes
Some women can balance the art of being a Mom, a wife and having a career - I am just not one of them. I am often exhausted and frustrated and I feel like I am not successful in any area of my life. I am more than ready to grab a hold of this adventure that lays before me - I might have days of "What was I thinking?!" but, I am pretty certain the rewards will far outweigh those days.
My boss' boss pulled me into a conference room the other day when I put in my notice and told me I was making a wise decision. He was sad to see me go, but he knew it was right for me. He also told me that if and when I'm ready to get back into the workforce to look him up-he'll hire me back. :thumbsup2
My last day is October 16. While I am going to miss aspects of my job, my co-workers, and my Clients....I still have a countdown.
29 full days, 22 work days! :yay:

That's great news Brook. I was fortunate to be able to stay at home with both my children and I'm so happy that I did. They grow so fast! My baby is now 7 and my oldest is turning 12 next month.
I will miss those extra trip reports though :goodvibes but I think it's great that you are doing what is best for you and your family.

yay I found your TR!!
Congrats on your decision to quit your job, I'm sure it will take an adjustement but you will love being able to focus more time on your little man. I'm a SAHM too and my DD will be 2 in just a few days, she keeps me on my toes, that's for sure but I wouldn't trade my days with her for anything in the world!!
Can't wait to hear more of your TR, glad you liked CSR we did too!!

That's awesome, Brook. I think you will love staying home with your little man! I am a SAHM as well and it is challenging, but so rewarding!

CSR looks so nice! I've never really seen lobby pictures, but those are so pretty. I can't wait to hear more about your trip. :)
Joe is very smart, so I know when he says a test it hard -it's HARD. I am shocked at the kind of things they have to know for those tests, it's amazing, isn't it?!
I think the carseat helps a ton too, they have their own space-they have something familiar...it's a PAIN to lug it around, but I know it's not forever either.
CSR is BEAUTIFUL. A very pretty resort - I'll be posting more pics of it throughout the TR.
From the 'You Want it, you got it...AKL Lite III' thread, though I subscribe to any AKL/AKV thread I can find.
:lmao:
This trip Saturday is our first trip Home, so I am excited, and by reading your TR (and other great ones) I am getting my mind right!
:cool1::cool1::cool1:
Ahhhhhhhhhh-Saturday!!! :cloud9: Your trip is SO close!!! Are you going to be writing a TR? :hyper:
Welcome home!
I made it on the 6th page, which isn't too bad considering I barely Dis'd all weekend. So you are off to a bit of a rocky start with a cold and fever, but I predict you recover quickly. I stayed in Casitas 5 this summer. I liked the location. Hope you did, too. Your lobby pictures are beautiful and your little guy is so cute!
I'm with ya-I rarely catch someone on their 1st or 2nd page! :lmao: I did like the location of Casitas 5. I think if I was more apt to want to walk to El Centro more often it would have gotten old, but I only made the walk 3 times of our entire stay. It was a beautiful walk too-and the walk to the pool was equally as pretty, and nice and short! I wouldn't hesitate to stay in that location again.

I love your trip reports and so looking forward to the rest of the report.
(I actually had a question for you about the queen beds, but then found the answer myself. So I edited out the question.)
Thank you for reading!! More of the report coming soon (tomorrow) - I also have a PTR update to make tomorrow. :yay: Glad you were able to find your answer on the beds!
Oh-I can't even imagine the differences in language on a rooster call! :rotfl2: I might have to find that one on YouTube!
I'm with ya on the sleeping thing...sometimes I even find it hard to sleep anywhere but home. Thankfully Disney usually wears me out enough that I probably COULD sleep curled up in a ball in a carseat! ;)
Just wanted to say hi--
thanks for the Happy Birthday to Lanie wishes!
Ooooh-:hug::hug: I SO understand. Lately I've been feeling that every single day with Henry. The other day he was in high high chair and playing with the foot rest thing with his feet. Joe and I just stared at him in awe that he was tall enough to do that...I remember when his legs barely reached out of it! It's so fun and wonderful, but man...it's just too fast!
We have a Canon XSI - it's a GREAT camera. I have read positive things on the Nikon D40 as well...I think we actually were leaning toward that one, but went with the Canon because it was either cheaper, or we just got a great deal on it that made it cheaper...I can't recall exactly-Joe's department. ;) We really like the XSI though, it's very easy to use and has every feature we wanted. You can't go wrong with the D40 though, super slick nice camera, you are sure to get great pictures!
Subbing!!
We'll be at Kidani in just about 48 hours!!
:)
YOU ARE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!! (i'm jealous) Please, please share a link to your TR when you get back - I cannot wait to read about it all!!! I know you have that vow renewal going on.... :hyper:
Hurray for your first update!!!:cool1: I really hope that fever keeps its nasty self away from you for the rest of the trip. That picture of Henry curled up in the stroller is absolutely adorable!:cutie:
I cannot believe that your trip has come and gone already???:scared1: I cannot fathom how fast the time has flown this year....
I can't believe how fast time has gone this year either, even September is half over already! I'm thinking about Christmas presents! :sad2: 2009 has truly flownnnnn right by.
Hasta Luega and all that jazz! Looking forward to much much more.
No prob! I so understand. My DIS time has been severly limited as well lately. I will be sure to pass on the "Welcome" to Joe - this cert was for VMWare, you know anything about that fun stuff? He's way into it and actually is so excited about it, he makes it sound interesting! But then again, I'm a bit of a geek myself, so I naturally like that stuff. ;)

sorry I'm late but I just got around to reading your report! Glad you got where you requested at CSR- do you think the walk from your location to the pepper market etc etc is doable for a 72 year old (who is in excellent shape?!)
The walk from Casitas 5 isn't too bad....BUT, I think it would have gotten to me if I had made it often. I only made the trek 3 times total - Joe did a couple beyond that and did say one night about how he wanted a snack, but didn't want to make the trek.
However, it was very close the bus stop, and close to the pool - we utilized the bus stop the most, so it was a good decision on location for us. If you are going to the Pepper Market and such on a daily basis, I would request a closer building....then you can also use the bus stop right outside El Centro as well.
So sorry I'm late. I don't know how I missed that you had started another TR. Glad I got here before all the real disney stuff began. Sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well but so glad to hear that you got to feeling better before you arrived at disney. Can't wait to hear all about your journey.
No problem!! :goodvibes I've hardly begun, so you aren't late! Some real stuff is coming TOMORROW!
I'm late I'm late I'm late!!!! I was shocked to see seven pages already, can't believe Flossbolna didn't tell me you had already started you report
But only missed arrival! Brook, I'm very much looking forward to your report :yay:
You are okay---you haven't missed much of anything!! No worries!! The good stuff will start sometime tomorrow....!
You had me cracking up with the 'Nerd Certification Test' :lmao: So sorry you were sick!!! Traveling when your sick is the worst :sad2: Can't wait to hear about your first day!
It was NOT fun traveling with that cold - Joe was concerned I would be in pain due the air pressure, but thankfully I was alright!
I found your trip report from the podcast 2.0 thread, hello fellow minnesotan! Just read your january trip report, awesome! Can't wait for this one...see you on 2.0:goodvibes p.s. if you are interested there is a october dis meet at mall of america thread going on the dis meet board. October 23rd, and 24th right now there are some planned activities!
HELLO! I haven't been over to those boards in a veryyy long time...I should really get my tail over there and meet some people before 2.0! I was just catching up on Podcasts today and listening to one from last month-there are now over 700 people!!! :yay::woohoo: It's gonna be awesome!!
I am VERY interested in the DIS meet at the MOA! Can you send me a link to the thread? I'll try to hunt it out too....oooh, that sounds great!!

I feel like such a DIS loser. I can't believe I haven't seen your TR. Jen had to tell me about it. LL = LOSER. I need a red flashing light next time you start a PTR/TR, okay? Cause I think I did this last time too. Oy!
Anyhoo! Sounds like a great start to your trip minus the cold but hopefully it was completely gone when you woke up.
And you need to come back and tell us your news! Details, Details!
You aren't a looser!!! No worries! Next time I will find a red flashing light for ya though. ;) I haven't been back to your TR since last week now though, ugh...cannot keep up! I see your weight loss ticker now - SO EXCITING! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Definitely better than no trip! That is awesome that he was so occupied on the plane! Hopefully Aaron will be that way when we go to AZ in November for a wedding.
Yes! Aaron still sleeps like that too! I am glad there is still a part of him that is still a baby!;)
Oh My GOSH! I want to say CONGRATS! How I wish I could quit my job!!! Do you have another one lined up? What do you do? Or do you not have to work anymore since Joe is now a certified nerd ;)
Well, the quitting the job didn't have to do with the certified nerd thing-he didn't get a pay raise (yet) for that - possibly in the future, or at least it opens him up to be more marketable should he ever change jobs/companies!
I bet Aaron will be much chiller with his carseat-it's familiar and comfortable, I think that helps a TON.
Sounds like a great start to your trip minus the cold! :thumbsup2 on a great flight with Henry! That is so awesome that he will sit quietly and watch Cars- we will have to try the DVD thing on our next trip.
Henry is so cute all curled up in his car seat!!
CSR looks beautiful. I have been there once for a convention, but I didn't stay in the hotel. I remember walking around on breaks and wishing I had stayed there! I look forward to seeing more pics!
Exciting news about your job! You sound very happy about it! :cool1: Are you going to be a SAHM?
You guessed it right, SAHM! :goodvibes
I felt bad in a way just allowing my baby to watch Cars like that for near the entire flight, but he was happy, we were happy - so, it was a good move. At home we restrict the Cars watching quite a bit more (much to Henry's dislike!)
OH NO, I knew it, I'm late! I was wondering if you started your TR so I went over to your PTR and saw the new link! I am ashamed.
Time to catch up!
No worries! You are here, and you truly haven't missed much at all!! :goodvibes
I cannot believe I missed the start to your TR. I'm so happy I'm only a little late. It looks like a great start so far, minus the fever and junk Brook. I'm taking the three older kiddos alone in December so I admit, I am very nervous about getting through security alone with them. Wish me luck with that. I cannot wait to hear what is up with you quitting your job! I hope it's good news! :)
Hoo man...3 kids through security! I will be wishing you luck, sending you prayers and pixie dust! You'll make it though, might take more time, might be a tad more frustrating than normal, but just think what's on the other side...a plane, waiting to whisk you away to Mickey's House...:cloud9:
Dawn
Hi Dawn! Thank you for reading!!!! Henry is a pretty chill kid. He has his nutty moments, but overall-he's always had a relaxed "go with the flow" type attitude. A 12 hour flight would be VERY difficult with a little one that won't fall asleep in his car seat... Would he be OK sleeping in the pack & plays at the resorts, or would sleeping for the entire trip be an issue? If you think he'll be alright when you are settled in your room-I'd risk the 12 hour flight, just be prepared with a lot of distraction devices and snacks! This trip we bought dollar store items and wrapped them up. I only had to whip out one on the flight (after Cars ended) to distract Henry. He was THRILLED with just ripping the paper off. Then oooh, a prize inside too! It was a good 15 minutes of distraction.
The only movie Henry will sit through is Cars. And he'll ask for "more" the second its over. We watched "Horton Hears a Hoo" the other night and he did good, but got antsy when we were about 20 minutes from the end. Is the Wow Wow Wubbzy available on DVD? Maybe getting some of that for the 12 hour flight would help too...
congrats on your decision, Brook. I loved being home with my DDs when they were young.
Thank you! I am really excited about it all. I'm a bit nervous at the lack of structure, but I know I can create structure in my days....I just have to do it....
Well, congrats!!!!
That is truly awesome, it sounds like you guys have thought this out and it sounds like the best thing for you!
I am very glad for you. It is very hard to not be there for you child. I am kinda thinking about a similar thing (I'm the Daddy, and it is slightly different, but the end result is the same...)

You had me laughing at all your comments!! :lmao: We have thought about this for a long time, and I even went back and forth myself a few times. But now the "quit" side has been winning for about 2 months solid. I was thrilled when Joe ran all the numbers over and over and each time he came back with the same result!
One of my co-workers was a Stay At Home Dad for 5 years - he said it was a great thing for him and his family.
I'll be sure to pass on the Congrats to Joe... :goodvibes

Enjoying your TR so much!!!

That is so great that you are able to be a SAHM!! I've been at home since my daughter was born in 2006. I love it. I will be honest though, sometimes, especially in the winter it gets a little lonely. If you have a playgroup in your area, I suggest joining it.
It has been a blessing though to be with them every day and I don't regret it. Enjoy!!

Good for you!!
Honestly.... I think you are smart for getting out now. I think when you are a working mom, there is a point of "No Return". That's the point when you can't quit, even if you really, really want and need to (for your mental health). You get really tired and one day turns into another. You buy more things and extend yourself more because you have some expendable income. That just gets you in deeper.
Can you tell I have had experience with this?????? Anyway, Congrats to you. Make you last few days of work really count!

Love your TR so far Brooke. I have stayed at CSR twice and loved it both times. Henry is such a cutie pie! I wanted a red head so bad.
Congratulations on becoming a SAHM, I truly believe you won't regret it. Our babies grow so fast. That was my deciding factor. I never wanted to look back and wishe I hadn't missed out on anything, mine will be 3 in Nov, and I just don't know where the time has gone. Just like you guys, it meant money was going to be a bit tight, no multiple disney trips in a year, but we've never looked back. I do agree with the poster that said to find a play group in your area. Or if there is a mother's morning out program in your area those are wonderful too. Gives you just enough time to run errands sans the kiddo, and just enough time to miss them a bit ;)
Anyway, congrats!
Now, on with your awesome TR!

:goodvibes

Just kidding, couldn't help my self.
I think it is awesome you guys can do it. It is so hard to have someone else take care of you child. Now, here is a hint that may help sometimes.
If you can do it, whether it's a paid baby sitter or a relative watching your son, try to have a date night with the hubby once in a while. We have a babysitter that like to watch our son on Friday nights (amazing, I know), and it is nice to do it. Sometime, you (and Henry, too) need a break, maybe you need an 'adult' night or conversation. It is very important to do this. You guys need time too!
;)
Awesome you can keep that yearly DW trip, too!!!
Love the TR, keep it up.

Congratulations, Brooke. I'm very happy for you. I missed not being able to stay at home when my kids were young (I went back to work when each of them turned six months) as I had to work, but I was comforted by the fact that my dad retired and he took care of my kids for me...and what a great opportunity it was for them...they had a very special relationship with my dad/their grandfather. A lot of kids don't get to spend that kind of quality time with their grandparents. And since dad died, the kids appreciate all the time they spent with him even more.
I know that you will love staying home with your sweetie pie.
We leave tomorrow so I'll have to catch up on your report when I get back.

Some women can balance the art of being a Mom, a wife and having a career - I am just not one of them. I am often exhausted and frustrated and I feel like I am not successful in any area of my life.
This is me too! When I finally quit my job I was so stressed and miserable that we just didn't see another option. It was hard not working at first, I felt like I wasn't contributing enough, but as I got more comfortable with my new role, I began to love it.
Last year my old boss called me and they were so busy and behind that he practically begged me to come back. I did, I worked the hours that my boys were at school, figuring that they were old enough now that I could do that. WRONG!! They are involved in so much, and DH travels a lot for his job and is gone quite a bit, that I found myself getting overwhelmed again. I needed those few hours while the kids were in school to clean my house, do laundry, run errands, etc, because I didn't have time to do those things once they were home. Thankfully, they only needed me at work for about 9 months, and I was able to get back home - that little stint with working showed me that we made the right decision all those years ago, and being at home is where I belong.
Congratulations, Brook! I'm very happy for you!

I think we have made the right decision - I truly feel lighter already from the mere thought of it. My entire team knows as of today and it's "public" news...I almost cried telling them, but I am excited too!

I think I really will like it once I have a bit of a flow to my days. I've already started thinking about how to plan out my days. I'm excited to see some of my friends in town more often that do stay home, they already are planning play dates for our kids.
Congrats from another SAHM, this sounds like a great decision for you all :)
And if you manage to find time for blog-reading as well as dis-ing, just PM me for links to a whole lot of fantastic blogs full of ideas of new activities for you and Henry.
OOOOOH-I will be PMing you! I love to read blogs...I currently read a TON of them on couponing and learning how to stretch a buck. I will need some for activities once winter sets in for sure. Thank you!
Enjoy!!
I am nervous about the long winters here in Minnesota. I have several SAHMs in town here that I am friends with, but I know they won't always be available either. I am thinking about looking up if we have a local MOPs group, I've heard great things about those.
I think, like you said, some days will be hard and looooong, but the benefits will outweigh it all.
Congratulations, Brook!! That is fantastic!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I think you are very right. Joe and I have been making our budget tighter (taking my income completely out of the picture) and we both have thought "What have we been doing with all that extra money?" We eat it. We buy stuff. We do fun stuff. All great things-but man...
This morning I attended a Team Meeting and I'm already being assigned all these "last minute" type tasks! I have a very busy month ahead, but I hope to do a good job and leave the team in a better spot than they are today.
Love your TR so far Brooke. I have stayed at CSR twice and loved it both times. Henry is such a cutie pie! I wanted a red head so bad.

I am so glad to read these notes from other SAHMs, it's so encouraging!
I like that idea of the Mother's Morning Out - I've never heard of that one. It would be a good little "break" to run a few errands if I need to do something that requires both hands and some extra focus. I'll have to see if we have anything like that around here!
I am also going to try to do a few things online to make a few bucks here and there. I already belong to a few programs that help earn a few dollars, but will try to do those more aggressively. I've also started to become a Coupon Queen. Hopefully those will pay for little getaways throughout the year!
I'm a little late, but what exciting news!
Thank you!!
Congrats Brook! Now let's get working on a baby girl to take to the new Fantasyland!!
:lmao: My Mom would be THRILLED to finally have a granddaughter! I can picture me and the little girl skipping through Fantasyland, her in a princess dress (of course!) and Joe and Henry over in Tomorrowland shooting up Zurg. :goodvibes
Congratulations about your decision. You will love being home with your little man. It was the best decision I ever made. Things can get pretty tight and sometimes I think I should be working but being home with your kids is priceless. They grow up WAY too fast. Can't wait to hear more.

I sooooooooooo agree! We don't get NEARLY enough of that now - maybe once every few months. It's very difficult for both of us to sacrifice a Friday night because we hardly get to see Henry on a Friday then at all. :guilty: But, with me staying home, I know it will be easier for me! And it IS so important. And Joe's Mom is always eager to watch him, so we'll probably be taking advantage of that more regularly. :goodvibes Our neighbor already said he would watch Henry sometime too-he's got three younger brothers, so he's got experience! We figured one night we could let him come over after Henry was in bed and we'd hit the movie theater and do a late night showing. The neighbor could sit in our basement and watch a movie, eat our food and drink our soda and get paid for it. But, it would provide Joe and I that nice time out too!

It's time to be home with my little man, and any possible future children. (MeMom, you can throw in a coin for us in October if ya want, I wouldn't object. ;))
:yay:
We will put it at the top of our list to throw in a coin or two for you. We might not go over to Wilderness Lodge, but we'll see many more fountains.
I am very excited for you being able to stay at home. I stayed at home when Jill and Trent were very small, and I loved it. Drew came along and my husband left, so it was full-time school and work for me after that. I have always been sad that I was not able to stay home with Drew the same way I did with them. I could be a stay-at-home-housewife for the rest of my life (if the right man came along ;)), and be quite happy with it. I'd love to do some volunteer things, like Meals-on-Wheels. I'd also like to be able to see my little girls more often. I think I'm pretty much stuck working for the rest of my life, though, so I try not to think about it much. You are very, very blessed in my opinion.
I wish Jill didn't have to work, but she likes to. I think a 2-3 day work week would be good for her - out some and at home some.
I wish all the best things for you in this decision!
It's nice to know they will hire you back whenever you are ready.
October 16th is the night we are leaving for WDW, so there will be much celebrating going on all over the place on that day!

I think, that most women are exhausted and frustrated and putting everyone ahead of themselves! I know I am!! Some days I just need someone there who knows what it feels like! I think there aren't enough hours in the day to work full time, be a great mom and be a wife! Luckily, I am technically only a wife on the weekends since my DH works 3rd shift during the week we don't see each other until the weekend. I so wish it wasn't like that though! And my DH is a SAHD sort of...he takes care of Aaron all day until 3pm then his mother (nana) comes over and takes over watching Aaron while Jason goes to sleep...and until I get home around 5:30. On Fridays Jason has a day off of being a Dad and my mom (grandma) takes Aaron for the day and brings him home when I get back from work. We are lucky that family is always with Aaron!
I am the main bread winner so I won't have the opportunity anytime soon to be a SAHM. But Jason did say he wants to go back to school....maybe it will be in my cards one day....after all!
I AM SOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!
So does this mean that there will be a baby in your near future?!?
Woo! And you will have more time to DIS shortly :).

That is great that you guys are financially stable enough without a pay raise for Joe to be a SAHM! That is just AWESOME! I strive to be a SAHM one day!
If you can believe this! Aaron is too big for his car seat! He is 3' 3" and I am not sure what he weighs....but I know it is over 40lbs. He is in a booster now! He will use the same one until he is over 4'9" or over 100 lbs!

Totally missed you had started a TR (hang head in shame for showing up on page 13 - my DIS time has been limited lately to finding out some key info for my trip next week regarding the race, MNSSHP and Food and Wine Fest - that's about it!)
and totally missed your big news!! Good for you - sounds like it was the right choice for you guys and you sound so excited for this new adventure!!
Okay, let me see what I remember from your TR...
Also have to agree, loving the Delta/NWA merger for the snack options! It was the highlight of the flight for me to have a bag of peanuts!!
How adorable how Henry curled up in his carseat! Does he sleep like that in bed normally?
what else... what else... you big news is clouding my memory of other things you wrote... Oh yeah, SICK AGAIN??? It's like your body is allergic to Disney or something!!
Well, now that I'm subscribed, I'll try to keep up!

Brooke, so glad for you. Going to work and not liking it would be hard to do especially with a little boy at home to spend time with. I know I could not work full time year around and not go crazy.. half day is enough for me!

Henry woke us up the next morning around 7:00 am. We took our time around the room that morning, I was feeling quite a bit better :yay: – the fever had not returned, I was just left feeling a bit off and with a lovely cough. I could deal. We were in Disney World – no way would a cold stop me!! :woohoo:
I unpacked both myself and Henry, we all started to watch the new Stacy...but quickly switched it over to Playhouse Disney (it was the Minnie’s Birthday episode, the one they based the one at DHS off of...kinda ironic!),
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643617534_F2B4d-M.jpg

We’ve never decorated the window before, but I’m thinking this will become a tradition….Henry really enjoyed it!
We were in awe of the humidity that morning.

We still knew we were in Florida, you can see the outline of a palm tree. ;)
Our summer in Minnesota has NOT been warm. It hasn’t even creeped above 90 degrees more than a couple of days. I was looking forward to real heat finally!
Soon we made our way out of the room and toward El Centro. We were very ready for breakfast at the Pepper Market. I was starved. I hadn’t eaten since my little bag of pretzels.
First a quick pit-stop - Henry was still a bit "Dut Dut" fan on this trip!

He wanted to hug them and was making little "eh, eh" sounds as he reached for the duts. :lovestruc

Unfortunately, it wasn’t.
The eggs were...bizarre. I can’t really explain how they tasted… “like paper” is the best I can do. However, Henry thought they were delicious, so not all was lost! :thumbsup2
The rest of the meal was edible. Nothing to write home about, but it served its purpose. I was full by the end of the meal.
Joe’s French Toast was again, nothing special, but decent. He ate every bite. Well….Henry probably had a few!

We waited exactly enough time it takes to cover a toddler from head to toe with sunscreen, put his hat back on and then apply sunscreen to my face and shoulders. i.e. not long. :goodvibes
We were headed that morning for AK! I think we have started nearly every trip with AK...
Let me back track for just a moment. On the way to the Pepper Market earlier that morning I had asked Joe, “You have your Annual Pass, right?”
“Ugh.”
He had forgotten it at home.
I made him shake it off and not worry. We were in Disney World. The Ultimate of the Customer Service. I am sure we could work it out somehow.
Onto AK. Straight to Guest Services.
Personal Identification was handed over, and within a minute Joe was the proud owner of a Manly Annual Pass.
His previous ticket was Minnie Mouse...not so manly. This time he scored Donald. Much better. ::yes::
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643613110_VaCzM-M.jpg
We grabbed a map and a Times Guide and winded our way through the Oasis discussing our plan of attack. We quickly opted to hit up the Festival of the Lion King show. It was about to start in just 15 minutes, we had never done it, and it was something we both wanted to do.

I was a bit nervous about getting in. We would arrive JUST before show time…but much to my surprise we were ushered right in to the Warthog section.
This theater is cool! I had no idea it was a black box type of theater. I love that kind of theater, and the fact that there was still a good number of open seats for the show gave me hope that the park wasn’t insanely crowded. :thumbsup2
And, wow! What a show!

We all really enjoyed this show – Henry was bopping along to a good portion of it, clapping and shrieking with excitement. He also was very fond of the giant giraffe just to our left, and the giant Pumba on the right – he kept pointing and then snorting like…well…a warthog! He did get a bit timid during the fire and darker scenes, curled up on my shoulder for a bit...I didn't mind. ;)
After the show we aimed for It’s Tough To Be A Bug, knowing they had centralized Fast Passes here-we were going to snag one for EE and one for Dinosaur and take advantage of the Child Swap…
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643606205_46bWr-M.jpg
Ahhh, walking slow enough now to soak in the beauty!

http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643605611_JZcyn-M.jpg
I thought the detail on this pole was amazing
but nope, not that day...no Centralized Fastpasses...another sign perhaps that the park was slow???

I missed replying to these three a few pages back - I'm sorry about that! Hopefully I did not miss anyone else...just cough a bit and nudge me or somethin'...;)
I was just realizing our babysitters older child is now 6. When I moved here, he was 3 and their little one who started school this year was only a year old! She was younger than Henry! EEP! I'm sure it will be here before I know it.
I will miss the extra trips....BUT, the benefits will outweigh the stress that I currently have - money just isn't worth it. And who knows, maybe we'll make it work somehow....squeeze in 2 maybe...:cloud9:
yay I found your TR!!
Thank you for joining in and reading!!! I have seen your DDs happy and beautiful face around the boards. :goodvibes This age is such a blast, isn't it? It's HARD being they are getting wiser and wiser, but it's so neat to watch them grow at the same time. Happy birthday to your DD!!!
That's awesome, Brook. I think you will love staying home with your little man! I am a SAHM as well and it is challenging, but so rewarding!
It definitely takes some sacrificing, like those extra Disney trips, ;) but it is worth every bit! :goodvibes
I'm so glad to hear all these encouraging words about it being worth it. I have only ever spoken to one person who said they tried to be a SAHM and it just did not work for them-they didn't like it. I am pretty certain once I get into my flow of things, I'll really be enjoying it...and during those hard days, if I keep focus on the precious years that will be gone before I know it-I think I'll be able to get through the moment easier. :goodvibes (or at least I can talk my way through it, "this will be gone before I know it, he's learning, he's two...")

Thanks for the great update! CSR really looks stunning. I think it is such a pretty resort!
What a shame that the breakfast did not taste good. :confused3 You were on the QSDP, weren't you? Was that a good choice? I think for CSR that might work out very good, I found the Pepper Market prices to look rather expensive - even for Disney.
FOTLK is a wonderful show. I am not a show person at all, but this one is on my must do list for every trip! :goodvibes There is always talk about Camp Minnie Mickey being only temporary and whenever AK will get a new land, it will be in that area. It is the area where Beastly Kingdom was planned to be, therefore the dragon in river. I just hope that if that's the case, they would relocate FOTLK to Africa. To be honest, it really would fit much better there than in an Northern American mountain camp! :rotfl:

Brook,
Congratulations on your "retirement"! ;) Your last day of work is my 27th wedding anniversary -- my DH will be out of town (although, in his defense, it's work related and he asked me if it was OK! It could have gotten interesting if I'd said "no!")
I was finally able to be a stay-at-home mom with my 3rd child and it was a gift I will always cherish. :goodvibes
There will always be a great job out there when you're ready to return to the work force. You only get one shot with your children -- and you already see how quickly Henry is growing. It goes by in the blink of an eye. :sad1:
Enjoy every precious moment of it! :cloud9:

Pepper Market LOOKS terrific. Even your food pics make me hungry. Sorry the actual experience was not as good. But hurrah for real coffee!! Maybe they figure those conventioners need something stronger?
We didn't have much of a summer in New England either so I am also looking forward to some real heat!
MUCH more manly an annual pass. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to more. And congrats, again, on your big news! :goodvibes

Hey Brook, wow I have not been on in a few days & I missed alot!! Congrats on being able to stay home with Henry. I was never able to do that but I had a very good friend who ran her own daycare take care of my two boys. I did have my "guilty" feeling days but they grew up to be great 16 & 20 yr olds. Loved the update. Isn't FOTLK great?? We got to "open" the show when we were there in May. (It meant us waving our hands & the doors opened):lmao:

Awww!! Brook! First let me say I think it's absolutely adorable that Henry says "Ka-Chow!' :lmao: Ryan has recently become obessed with Cars, and Toy Story for that matter, and will zip around the house as fast as he can saying "McQueen! McQueen!" :rotfl:
I have a question for you regarding the AP!! Is it paper?! Cause in the picture of Joe holding his brand new manly AP it looks like paper! It strikes me as a bit odd that the AP's would be paper. Seeing how it is an annual pass and it will be used over and over and over me thinks paper isn't the best option they could have come up with. Our MNSSHP tickets are plastic cards with the same "Celebrate Everyday!" design so I wonder why they wouldn't go that route! I was kinda hoping to get a pretty plastic card that said "Woooo Hoooo!! Your and AP holder now!! Aren't you special?!" when I pick ours up next month. Not to mention I've lost a Key to the World Card more then once paper is much more lossable!
Anyway, sound like you had a great morning so far!
I love the pictures of Henry and Joe decorating the window!! We've never decorated before but I've purchased a few little halloween things to decorate with next month. I have a ghost and garland to hang on the blacony and Happy Halloween pumpkin for the door!! I may put my dis name on the pumpkin too!
Sorry your breakfast was less then stellar!!! But good coffee?! Really?! What was it?! I can tell by your face it must be good!!!
Your AK pictures are beautiful!! I LOVE FOTLK!! It's so great! I really think Disney does such an outstanding job with the stage shows at the parks! We missed FOTLK in January and never got to AK in March :scared1: I can't wait to see it again!!!

Hi Brook!!! First like everyone else I wanted to congratulate you on quitting your job and being able to stay home with Henry! You are going to have so much fun. Good luck potty training! My sister is just about to start my DN so if you have any tips feel free to share so I can pass them on!
I can't believe how big Henry looks in the pictures from AK! He is getting to be such a big boy. The picture of decorating the window are too cute. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the day went.

Great update! I have to say I like the picture of you with your refillable mug. When I was driving to school this morning I saw someone crossing the street and they were carrying one of them. It kinda made me happy (and a little sad...). LOL!

Congrats on becoming a SAHM. It's lots of fun-most of them time. I would say to check out a MDO or preschool program when you are ready. Those are my favorite days....:rolleyes1

Henry wanting to hug the ducks!! Oh my gosh that is too cute!! Did you take Henry to see It's Tough to be a Bug? I can't wait to find out....I am too scared to take Aaron there. I think he may be scared! Love the update! Can't wait to read more!

I bet Henry approved of the new manly pass with Donald on it! :thumbsup2
I love seeing all your pictures of Animal Kingdom!!! It makes me want to be there right now! :goodvibes

Some replies before bed...I'll get more tomorrow morning :goodvibes
It sounds like you guys have a great plan! It will work out, I am sure. Date night for the parents is so important. We have fun on the weekend and during the week with James, but Friday nights, generally, is ours.
I have a link in my sig, so if you want, you can check it out. Our plans are there, and what not. Not much more to it, though, with getting there Saturday!
:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:
I will get some kind of updat live, just for you and my other dis friends, even if it's from my iPhone. I have seen several live reports on the boards, and it looks quite promising!
So excited!!!!!
:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::b anana::banana:
Thanks for sharing, Brooke!
(Oh, I guess I should give my 'name', as vladimir10 isn't it (didn't know that, did ya...:rolleyes1)
I'm Craig!
Nice to meet ya all!!!
Hi Craig! :goodvibes
I have your PTR open in a tab on my IE - I'll be sure to subscribe and I hope to catch the live updates! iPhones are an amazing thing, aren't they? We have yet to venture into them, but from what I have learned they sound so handy!
Thanks for the coins! ;) We aren't "trying" right now - but if it happens, we are OK with it. So we'll seeeeeeeee!
I once knew a family where the Mom stayed home, even though her kids were grown (and one was married), she did all sorts of volunteer work and really kept the house running. It was a full-time job for her! I am thinking I will like staying at home - not sure if I'll do it forever after Henry is older, but ya never know....part of me wants to homeschool, but I'm not certain on it yet. Thankfully I have a while to decide! Thank you for the well wishes! :goodvibes
I certainly will NOT be forgetting when you leave for WDW! And yep, I'll be celebrating and thinking of you guys!

Good for you and your family Brook!! I can just hear the excitement in your words and what a blessing you're able to do this! Oooh...I'm excited about the possibility of more too!! HEE HEE.....
Heather
It really is a blessing - every person I have spoken to about it has been incredibly supportive and excited for me. All my co-workers truly understand and encourage me.
I'm excited about the possibility of more, and nervous about it too. We aren't trying right now---so it might be a WHILE, but both of us are at the place of "if it happens, it happens." I would much prefer to have the house sold and settled in Minneapolis...but we'll just see what happens. ;)
You totally get it! Isn't it nice to know you aren't alone? Here, right on my thread are a ton of women who have posted knowing that exact same feeling. In the midst of all the exhaustion and frustration, it feels like NO ONE gets it though-doesn't it??? :headache:
Your situation with Aaron is so nice of Jason being able to stay home, and Aaron just being with Grandma for just a bit. I bet Grandma LOVES it!
No baby plans yet...but we aren't adamantly trying to prevent it either. We were NOT in the mindset at allllllll about having a second until fairly recently. So, I know it will be a while - possibly a long while, but, we'll just see what happens!
and you know whats kinda hilarious? I know there are certain restrictions on being pregnant and also having a child of a certain age on DCL and I'm thinking "We CANNOT miss the podcast cruise!" Child planning around Disney trips! :sad2::laughing:
That is great that you guys are financially stable enough without a pay raise for Joe to be a SAHM! That is just AWESOME! I strive to be a SAHM one day!
If you can believe this! Aaron is too big for his car seat! He is 3' 3" and I am not sure what he weighs....but I know it is over 40lbs. He is in a booster now! He will use the same one until he is over 4'9" or over 100 lbs!
I hope if Jason goes back to school it will work out for you to stay at home!!! Or maybe, you'll find some rockin' job that you can do from home/part-time that pays crazy well!
Holy smokes--Aaron is a big little boy, isn't he?! Henry is a skinny little thing - I wonder if he's even 30 pounds yet. I like to think he gets that from me. HA HA HA HA!! :lmao::lmao::lmao: Henry is pretty tall though, right around 36 inches.
I understand about the limited DIS time, mine has been too, I'm WAY behind on all reports (except I did get caught up on 3 this morning! :yay:) I can't believe your trip is again NEXT WEEK. Sooooo jealous. It's gonna be great!!! Where are you staying this time around again?
Napping was my first highlight of the flight, the snack was a close second.
Yep, Henry sleeps like that quite a bit in his crib. Little butt up in the air. :lovestruc It's so cute!
NOT ALLERGIC TO DISNEY! :rotfl2: (but even if I was, I wouldn't stay away!!!)
Brooke, so glad for you. Going to work and not liking it would be hard to do especially with a little boy at home to spend time with. I know I could not work full time year around and not go crazy.. half day is enough for me!
It is really hard to be at work somedays, when everything is frustrating and awful, knowing our friend is getting to hang out with Henry. I like my job most of the time, but UGH, sometimes.....and it just all does not balance out to be worth it. The stress and all.... I think I would like to do something maybe a few nights a week, but we'll see, not going to even think about that yet.
First, congrats on the decision to stay at home! :goodvibes I wish you all the best with this new phase of your life!
Wow... I can never get enough of FOTLK... I'm glad Henry loved it!
It's so much fun to walk around the Animal Kingdom but oh! That humidity! :scared:
Kathy
Thank you!!!
FOTLK was really neat-what powerful voices and what a great show! I loved the acrobat monkeys.
And yes, that humidity! It was awful...
:rotfl:
CSR is amazing-everywhere I looked it was beautiful. All the flowers, the lake, the buildings - I wish I had more time to go around and take more pictures while we were there...I did get quite a few, but you know how we are! ;)
Yep, we were on the QSDP. When I calculated the costs, the QSDP would have been cheaper for us because of those higher prices at Pepper Market, Cafe Rix and Siestas. I figured we would eat a few times at the resort. I still haven't gotten a chance to add up our receipts to see if we did save money though.
I have heard about that with Beastly Kingdom. On Heidi's report she noted about the beast rock formation, and then the dragon on the sign outside (which I had NEVER noticed) - and in that pic of the pole I had, there are some "beasts" on it as well. I hope they do expand to include it sometime - and you are right...FOTLK would fit much better in Africa!

Hi Brooke!!
Congratulations on your new life path. I think it will be wonderful for you.
I can't believe you started the trip with a cold! It sounds like you nipped it in the bud though. :thumbsup2
CSR is a very pretty place. I love the fountains.
The pictures of Joe and Henry in silhouette at the widow are beautiful.
Thank you! I love those window decorating pics too because of the backlight. Just something about the emotion it evokes!
The meds I took for my cold were great! The day time stuff did not make me feel all loopy, and the night stuff knocked me right out!
Sorry your breakfast at Pepper Market wasn't as good as it looked. It *did* look good!
FOTLK looks awesome! I can't wait to see it!
Denise
Thankfully there was enough food on the plate that I could avoid those strange eggs and still be full. And it was our first day at Disney, nothing was getting me down! :goodvibes
FOTLK was really great, the singers are amazing and I was in awe of the acrobats, costumes, and dancers!
Brook,
Congratulations on your "retirement"! ;) Your last day of work is my 27th wedding anniversary -- my DH will be out of town (although, in his defense, it's work related and he asked me if it was OK!
:cloud9:
"Retirement" I like that! :thumbsup2:laughing: What a bummer about your DH being out of town for your anniversary!! Are you going to be able to celebrate before or after. Our 3rd year is coming up right behind that, October 21.
You worded it exactly right - there will always be work, but these years are so precious and disappear so quickly. I cannot believe Henry is already 2!
Love the update. So what did you think of the new Stacy? I'm looking forward to watching it -- is that sick or what??
Pepper Market LOOKS terrific. Even your food pics make me hungry. Sorry the actual experience was not as good. But hurrah for real coffee!! Maybe they figure those conventioners need something stronger?
We didn't have much of a summer in New England either so I am also looking forward to some real heat!
MUCH more manly an annual pass. :thumbsup2
I am really looking forward to exploring more of the detail in AK this trip!
Looking forward to more. And congrats, again, on your big news! :goodvibes
We were not fans of the new Stacy. It was strange...clips of the old Stacy with the braided pigtails doing her thing, then it flashed back to the Blazer Stacy and she was soooo mellow. It was bland. During the old Stacy clips I would get excited and get into it, then flash to Blazer Stacy and my mood would just go "eh". If that makes sense? Joe didn't even think it was the same gal! HOWEVER, I think she might be a bit more tame for those that couldn't handle her perkiness, you do get a does of both.
I was thrilled with the real coffee! I didn't get to drink it as much as I expected-it was so hot, I did NOT want hot coffee! But, the bit I did get was gooooooood.
Great updates! That picture of Henry sleeping while you checked in is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen:goodvibes I'm excited to see all your photos of CSR... we're thinking about staying there in January!
How was your experience w/ the bus service there?
Thank you! We love that pic too, and in the moment it was so funny how he just rolled right over!!
I'll have lots more pics of CSR throughout the report! It was a beautiful resort and we truly enjoyed our stay there. What other resorts are you looking at for January?
The bus service was outstanding. Truly awesome. On average we waited less than 5 minutes. Maybe once or twice a bit over and closer to 10. One night leaving MK there was a line INSANELY long (I'll document about it in the TR), and even that didn't really take very long-they were right on top of it!! I was very impressed with the buses.
Brooke:
I love your first day. Wow....what an awesome start to your trip. I think my favorite picture has to be Henry decorating the window. That is adorable.
Sorry breakfast was just ehh. I didn't know they served "real" coffee at the Pepper Market. I missed that.
A "Manly" AP....that is so funny! Maybe my DH should misplace his too because I think he has Minny also.:rotfl:
It was a fun moment to watch Henry and his Da Da decorate....Henry could easily point out our window each time we came back to our room too. It was fun!
Joe was okay with the Minnie, but secretly hoping for something more manly, so it was a pretty funny when Donald came out. Of course it would have been even more funny if he got another Minnie! :lmao:;)

I can answer this one :goodvibes
It's "tyvex." Which is a material that's very strong. Better than plastic and less likely to get erased (my Mom still manages it all the time though!) And with an AP, as you saw with Joe's, it's very easy to replace them. All you have to do is walk to any ticket window and show them your DL. Not a problem! I wouldn't worry too much about the "paper" AP. I had mine in the change purse in my wallet for a year. I didn't lose it and I didn't deactivate it :thumbsup2

Really?! That's neat!!! I have bad luck with the KTW cards! I lost DD's once within about 20 minutes of entering the park on our very first day :headache: I've lost mine more then once as well! We also has a problem with them getting deactivated on our first trip!

Love the updates!
I am working for kgb. I answer the text they send in on my computer. not great pay at all, but it's more than nothing. I also do mypoints, do you do that one? Where you click on emails and earn points for gift cards. Just ordered a $25 one for Walmart yesterday!
Is the new Stacy, new since March. I thought that one this year was just not anywhere as good as previous ones. She seemed less cheery and her hair and clothes were so awful! LOL!

Your mom must have her pass next to a magnetic closing on her bag. I learned the hard way about that one.
It's a problem she always has had, even prior to the APs. She used to keep everyone in the family's passes, but only hers would deactivate, she used to joke it was her magnetic personality!

Hey Brook,
I'm so glad Joe scored a DD annual pass...not only is Donald one of my favorites too-like Henry but it is definitely a manlier choice than Minnie...:lmao:-men are too funny...:lmao:
Loved the topiaries of the three calbererros (spelling-my bad) David and I love them-we watch the old cartoons with them-so fun...
sorry about the breakfast at Pepper Market...but ahhhh coffee...coffee makes everything all better...:surfweb:

:yay:
Wow, I go on vacation for a bit over a week and what go I find when I come back? :goodvibes In all seriousness, congratulations on your decision!

Everyone, I will do replies, I'm just very much in the mood to write and share another bit of the trip...you don't mind that I do this before replies, right? ;):goodvibes
We left off just seeing FOTLK and were now off to the Boneyard, one of Henry's favorite spots in all of WDW.
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643604957_gFGwv-M.jpg
Along the way we saw lots of various animals. Whenever Joe and I see these birds it reminds us of our Disneymoon when one outside of Pecos Bill's ate chicken. The bird eats it's own kind. :sad2: I've probably told that story before...
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643615783_CwA4r-M.jpg
We never went to Dinoland this way before!
While Joe and Henry ventured into the Boneyard, I was off to grab a FP for EE.
When I arrived I noted the wait time to be 10 minutes.
10 MINUTES! :yay:
Wow! I quickly called Joe and he agreed, “Go for it!”
So on I went!
I love me some EE and this ride did not disappoint. I ended up in the very back seat on the far side from when you load.
Here are some shots Joe took of their time at the Boneyard:
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643614355_ixKDf-M.jpg
Gotta visit the truck!

http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643618190_NpjLL-M.jpg
After my ride, I zipped through the gift shop and back to the Boneyeard. When I called Joe he said they were in the giant sandbox.
The huh?
Turns out there is a whole part of the Boneyeard we had never seen before. Henry was having a BALL in the sandbox.
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643616170_nyRQc-M.jpg

Joe went off to EE while Henry and I played.
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643616532_YoGtp-M.jpg
Back out to visit the truck again...
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643607865_Mtbwg-M.jpg Look how rosy those cheeks were getting! While I was happy to be experiencing the hot weather, I was starting to literally drip. The mini fan came out around now in attempts to cool Henry and I down a bit.
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643604246_gjhDS-M.jpg
More sliding
Then he saw this:
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643608502_kEZQK-M.jpg
See that yellow construction hat? He was one JUST like it at home, so his bucket hat was quickly tossed to the ground and he was at that fence thinking Mommy could get that hat for him..."Mommy, eh, had" (he points to the hat) "Mommy." "Had" (he points to his head), "eh, eh"
How does one explain this to a 2 year old?!
Distraction. ::yes::
There is a drinking fountain directly next to this, so I turned it on and much to Henry's delight it sprayed water well past the fountain. So this became our new game. Henry would run through the water as I sprayed it, then climb up for a drink. Repeat.
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643608123_hJvws-M.jpg
It was a great game that got him cooled down some, and I was laughing at his facial reactions to getting splashed with water. This was his first time really ever liking getting wet like this.
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643607953_fbpAx-M.jpg
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643612621_iBcLV-M.jpg
Before we knew it Joe was back…
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643609381_nbwTX-M.jpg
and tells me he got to ride in the very back seat on the near side from when you load. Kinda ironic we almost got the same seat.
After a bit more playing (and showing Da Da our new game) we left the Boneyard

and Joe and Henry went on Triceratops Spin.

I have NO idea why I didn’t go with them…we all could easily fit in those cars – but all well, it was fun to watch them and take a few pictures of the area. Henry seemed to enjoy it more this trip than previous.

I really don't recall going in a shop, but we must have at some point after the ride...isn't this shirt cute?
After their ride Henry's cheeks were very rosy again, Joe said he was in need of water, and my mini-fan just wasn't cutting it. We were HOT. It was time to find something, anything to cool us down - and our stomachs were starting to growl for lunch.
I had wanted Flame Tree BBQ (and oh my, it smelled soooooo good when we walked past earlier), BUT, the air-conditioned bliss of Pizzafari won us over fairly quickly.
Pizza + air conditioning = one happy Joe.

On our trek over to Pizzafari, I stopped for a brief moment to take in the beauty...

I like the tile work
I opted to get the Hot Italian Sandwich, Joe went with the Pepperoni pizza combo.

A little hand reaching for the carrots that came with my sandwich. He quickly realized they were a vegetable and spit them out. :rotfl:

I am not a big dessert eater at lunch, so I often asked to get a bottle of water instead of the various desserts-and only one time on our trip was it ever a problem.
Joe on the other hand, VERY much likes dessert anytime, any place. So he was thrilled with the QSDP too!
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/photos/643619897_jrzEj-M.jpg
Though he commented this cake was really rich, he didn't have a problem eating it all! (Okay, Henry probably had a few bites...)
We really enjoyed our relaxing and cool meal here. We sat in a back room with a wolf on the wall that Henry barked at about 48 times.;)

These little guys are on the ceiling
We really took our time in here, and spent quite a bit of our meal laughing and imagining what the rest of our trip would hold. It was a great Disney Moment where all was good. We were fed, my cold was subsiding, we were comfortable and almost our whole trip still laid before us!
Next up: Henry’s nap time, what will the parents do?

Ha ha! The carnivorous birds! I noticed that they eat their own kind too...they are freaky!!
It looks like Henry had the Boneyard to himself and I didn't know there was a sandbox! Aaron would love that right now!
Awww too cute that he barked at the wolf mural 48 times :).
Glad you guys are starting to all feel good! Can't wait to hear the next installment :).

I ended up in the very back seat on the far side from when you load.
he got to ride in the very back seat on the near side from when you load.
It was just like you were riding "next" to each other! I thinks this qualifies as almost a date!
The Dig Site is one of Noah's favorite things. Our friend took Noah and her little girl there to play while the rest of us rode Dinosaur and he didn't want to leave. The two of them took their job to uncover those bones very seriously!!
Your sandwich at Pizzafari looks YUMM-O! Was it as good as it looks?

Isn't that dragon by the water cool? Glad you found it.
I think my jaw dropped a bit when I saw it on your TR-I had noooo idea that was there! I'm really glad I remembered where you said it was and saw it! I felt like a tour guide explaining what it was to Joe.
The excitement is building for a fantastic Brooke, Joe, and Henry TR!!! So far so good! I love AK, and we are starting there this trip as well. My DH usually likes to go to MK first, but because I'd discovered EMH for AK on our first day, we are starting there.:cool1: I love FOLK, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!:goodvibes
I need to look for that dragon the next time I go, is that in Camp Minnie/Mickey?
I hope I don't disappoint with this TR! ;) It's not nearly as dramatic as the previous two, but I'm OKAY WITH THAT!
I love AK too-it's my favorite park. I can't get over it's beauty and themeing.
Yep, the dragon is in Camp Minnie/Mickey-just over the bridge as you head into it on the right hand side.
Question that didn't appear on the nerd certification test...
"Is your Disney Annual Pass always in your wallet?" :lmao:
Oops!
:rotfl2: LOVE IT!!!
That's funny!:lmao::lmao:
Very clever - Joe laughed too!

Heres the link to the MN meet! :goodvibes
Thank you!!! I just opened the thread, I will get to reading it soon!
CSR looks so pretty and it may just have to be added to my list since I would be in light fixture heaven. :rotfl2:
I can't believe how big Henry is getting. I think about your pictures from last year and it just amazes me!! I can just picture him doing little wart hog noises! Super cute. :lovestruc
I have to get over to your Light Fixture thread and post my new ones. Not quite as many as last trip, but still some good ones!
And just wait until Henry get his hair cut......:sad2:
It was at Disney World he finally figured out that pigs do not say "stinky" but they snort instead.
But we got great seats. You got some good pics. I always try but they never seem to come out that good. Cannot wait for the next update.:thumbsup2
That is SO nice that your good friend was able to be your daycare provider! It is such a relief to know very well who's hands they are in.
I don't think they did the "opening" of the show this time--or I completely missed it. It's always fun to be part of the show, isn't it? I just imagined Henry getting more into that as he gets older and wanting to go down front to participate in the music.
It was a hard place to get good pics in-we had a lot that didn't come out hardly at all. Next time I will try to get a closer spot!
Great start to you day!!! Your window looks great, I'm glad that Henry enjoyed helping to decorate it!!!
Those pictures of CSR are just amazing!!! I would like to someday say I have stayed at every resort on property we'll see if that ever happens LOL!!!
Animal Kingdom is such a great park!! I think I want to find that beast waterfall too...I had no idea it was there either and I think it would be cool to spot!!
I'm going to be seeing FOTLK for the first time in a couple of weeks LOL!!!! Actually exactly 2 weeks from now LOL!!! I'm to hear you give it such rave reviews!!
I'll be anxiously awaiting more of your TR!!
I would also love to say I've stayed at every resort on property! I think it's gonna take a loooooooooooong time! (but what a fun journey! :thumbsup2)
Two weeks!!! This month sure flew by, didn't it? Good thing for you and a good handful of other DISers too. I bet you are going to love FOTLK-it's really an awesome show!

Gosh, Henry has gotten so big! We missed the Festival of the Lion King this summer. We intend to do it in just 4 weeks when we are there again!
I know it! They grow up in the blink of an eye, don't they?
Just 4 weeks for you guys - then just another couple months after that again! :yay:
We can definitely spare a penny or two for you. We will celebrate your last day of work by boarding a plane and heading to Orlando!!!
I will be thinking of you guys you that day! Thanks for the coins :goodvibes We aren't planning on anything for a good WHILE yet, but ya never know--we wouldn't be disappointed if it did happen!
Awww!!
We should get a copy of Toy Story, I bet Henry would love that as much as Cars....hmmmm...!
Yep, the APs are paper. It surprised us too! Very strange...not sure why they do it that way. I have kept mine in my wallet for the past year, so I always know where it is, but yes-easy to loose, easy to rip I would imagine! I bet some people's look pretty ragged by the end of a year. I wonder if FL residents get a card???
Yep! The coffee was good! It wasn't great, but it wasn't Nescafe-and compared to Nescafe, it was AWESOME. I think it was just some generic blend, probably something simple like Folgers!
I agree with you on the stage shows, this trip we saw more than just FOTLK...! :goodvibes
First, congrats on your new independence! You are a free woman!! :worship: I am a little jealous lol! Glad everything is working out so well for you! Sounds like a great start to your first day- and since when is minnie mouse not a manly annual pass?? :rotfl:
:rotfl2: When Joe got it last year I asked him "Are you man enough to carry Minnie Mouse around?"
Thank you for your encouragement on the job stuff! I am excited to see what the future holds!
Hi Brook! I am so happy that you will have this time at home with Henry... it is a sweet time, I am amazed at how fast the time goes, we just took our daughter to her first year in college 3 weeks ago!
I love that you guys just change your route at AK as needed. I had NO idea that there was now a centeralized fastpass place! That must be quite handy when you are getting the passes.
I read about the centralized fast pass thing here on the DIS-I think it started as a rumor, then someone on the DIS Podcast went out and actually took pictures. The FPs were also available at the ride itself, so either location, which can be handy if you don't want to trek clear across the park, or send a runner. I hope they bring it back!
The time does fly, I find it hard to believe Henry is already two! My Mom asked me this year around my birthday how old I was turning, I said "30", she responded with "That is the age I had you! HOW CAN YOU BE 30?!"
Thank you!!! I'm looking forward to my last day-it will be bittersweet in ways, but more sweet! :yay:
Tips on the potty training...nothing yet! Henry still has yet to actually go in the potty, but at least he is willing to sit on it!
Great update! I have to say I like the picture of you with your refillable mug. When I was driving to school this morning I saw someone crossing the street and they were carrying one of them. It kinda made me happy (and a little sad...). LOL!
Ooooh! I've never spied another Disney mug in real life! I would LOVE to and instantly start talking to that person. I use mine for work all the time. Today I was sitting in a meeting with all these Executives sipping water out of my "Year of a Million Dreams" mug. I wondered what they all thought...!

Congrats on becoming a SAHM. It's lots of fun-most of them time. I would say to check out a MDO or preschool program when you are ready. Those are my favorite days....:rolleyes1
:lmao: I've heard that from a few Mom's - that break IS necessary! I do plan to check out some various community groups and such-I'm sure for a while I will be fine, but after a bit, I'll need it some!
Henry wanting to hug the ducks!! Oh my gosh that is too cute!! Did you take Henry to see It's Tough to be a Bug? I can't wait to find out....I am too scared to take Aaron there. I think he may be scared! Love the update! Can't wait to read more!
Joe and I were giggling when Henry wanted to hug the duck toparies. It was adorable!
Nope, no It's Tough to Be a Bug...Henry is a pretty timid kid, so we have avoided that one. He screamed through most (or possibly all?) 3D shows last trip, so we actually avoided them all together on this trip. Maybe we'll try again in December....but, I think the Bugs will have to wait a bit until he's 3 or so...I'm too scared to take him too!
I bet Henry approved of the new manly pass with Donald on it! :thumbsup2
I love seeing all your pictures of Animal Kingdom!!! It makes me want to be there right now! :goodvibes
I know what you mean-I look back through the pics and think "December can't come soon enough!" Your trip is VERY close though-is AK going to be visited?
I can answer this one :goodvibes
It's "tyvex." Which is a material that's very strong. Better than plastic and less likely to get erased (my Mom still manages it all the time though!) And with an AP, as you saw with Joe's, it's very easy to replace them. All you have to do is walk to any ticket window and show them your DL. Not a problem! I wouldn't worry too much about the "paper" AP. I had mine in the change purse in my wallet for a year. I didn't lose it and I didn't deactivate it :thumbsup2
So it's NOT paper! Wow. Feels like paper, but it's not. Kinda cool! Thanks for the info!
Your mom must have her pass next to a magnetic closing on her bag. I learned the hard way about that one.
Oh, I've heard about that too. It can erase most anything if it's right next to a magnet.
Really?! That's neat!!! I have bad luck with the KTW cards! I lost DD's once within about 20 minutes of entering the park on our very first day :headache: I've lost mine more then once as well! We also has a problem with them getting deactivated on our first trip!
BTW, thanks for the info!
Do you have a bag with a magnet? I've never had a problem, thankfully! But, yes, it really is easy to replace the APs, it literally took less than a minute!
LOL!
I've never head of kgb...but you are right, something is better than nothing! I do MyPoints (have for yearssssssssss!) and just started doing a few others, Sunshine Rewards, Inbox Dollars, and Swagbucks. I like MyPoints and Swagbucks the best so far-but the others add up a bit.
Ya, the new Stacy is way less cheery-it's a bit of a downer. And she wears a blazer and a necklace-boring work clothes!
It's a problem she always has had, even prior to the APs. She used to keep everyone in the family's passes, but only hers would deactivate, she used to joke it was her magnetic personality!
My brother tends to misplace his AP, so we learned about the replacement the "hard way!" Glad I could help :goodvibes
That's so funny about the magnetic personality! Who knows!
Hey Brook,
I'm so glad Joe scored a DD annual pass...not only is Donald one of my favorites too-like Henry but it is definitely a manlier choice than Minnie...:lmao:-men are too funny...:lmao:
Loved the topiaries of the three calbererros (spelling-my bad) David and I love them-we watch the old cartoons with them-so fun...
sorry about the breakfast at Pepper Market...but ahhhh coffee...coffee makes everything all better...:surfweb:
Henry is too cute for his own good...:goodvibes...
Coffee does make all things better. I think I could eat just about anything as long as I had a cup of coffee in the morning. ;)
Awe, how great. Henry let you nap :)
Festival of the Lion King is one of my fave shows!!
Good job!
And no Nescafe at CSR??? What is it?
I think it's just some "normal" blend-probably something like Folgers. But it certainly did taste better than Nescafe!
Wow, I go on vacation for a bit over a week and what go I find when I come back? :goodvibes In all seriousness, congratulations on your decision!
Thank you!! I'm full of surprises sometimes.
OMG...I got away for a few days and come back to a huge TR!!! Slow down...I need to catch up!!! LOL!! Can't wait to read all about it!!!:thumbsup2
 Oops! I just posted another update! Hope you were caught up. :goodvibes But don't worry, as you know, I'm usually pretty slooooow in doing these, probably just once a week! Thanks for joining in again...and how was your trip?!?! :hyper:

YAY for only a 10 minute wait at EE...I'm hoping for the same luck this weekend...EEEK did I just say this weekend LOL!!!
Hmmm...lunch looked yummy and yes I agree with the weather being abnormally warm and HUMID the last week I would have gone for a nice break in the air conditioning!!

Super update!! As usual love all your detailed photos! It looks like you guys had such fun. H's rosy cheeks are too cute. Seems like there were hardly any people there! Hope that trend continues!! I will be keeping the air conditiony goodness of Pizzafari in mind as it looks like I will be combatting some heat too. Somehow I think I'll manage.

Flame Tree does always smell so good, but the AC of Pizzafari wins out very often. Pizzafari is also great for picture-taking! :goodvibes Jill and I have decided that since we have done both of those many times and we've done Tusker House, we're going to go to Restaurantosaurus in October and check it out.
Brooklynn loves sliding in The Boneyard, too. That's great that you and Joe both got quick rides on Everest and also some playtime with Henry.
I enjoyed the pictures to start my morning off. We have state people coming today, so I had to come here and suck up some Disney happiness to get me through the visit of the 'clipboard brigade', as we call them.

Great update broke!!!
Those WDW birds are crazy! I don't think they care what they eat!!
My kiddos LOVE the boneyard! Ryan hasn't played there yet because he was napping when DD and DS went last trip but I'm sure he'll love it next month just as much as his brother and sister do!! DS6 would be happy to plan an entire trip around the different playgrounds in the parks and resorts!!
Your lunch sounds nice and relaxing!! Air conditioning definantly wins out over outdoor BBQ when it's that hot out!
Can't wait to read more!

I hope your crowd levels are low like ours too-it was GREAT!! I did look up the best/worst park on touringplans.com and also avoided the parks with EMH, so that might have a bit to do with it...:confused3
Thank you for the comment on Henry - he loves that Boneyard!

The crowds were very low! It was GREAT! I couldn't believe how un-crowded it was. And it wasn't just like that at AK either....:thumbsup2 I really hope the low crowds continue for all of you headed down so soon. If you see my comment above to Jen we did use the best/worst park suggestions on touringplans.com (except our MK day), and we also avoided parks with EMH, so that might have helped some.
Oh ya, the heat, even if you are dripping (ew!) is sooooo worth it. As per CP's report, Restaurantasaurus is also air conditioned, I didn't realize it at the time or I would have suggested it being we were right next to it!

I am thinkin' December for Flame Tree. Comfort food in the winter months, plus it will be a bit cooler. It better not be as cool as last January when I was warming my hands on a chai. :sad2:
I'm looking forward to your review on Restaurantosaurus! CP mentioned her family likes it, it does seem highly under reviewed, doesn't it?
I think the Boneyard is such a neat area-I'm sure kinds are just in a wonderland when they enter through there.
Oh, glad my report could provide some MUCH needed happiness before the clipboard brigade! :rotfl: (My Mom, a nurse, also calls the State that when they visit her!!)

Update, update!!:cool1: Your pictures of Henry are always so adorable!! I love the fact that you came up with such a cool (literally) game! We always usually eat at Flame Tree, but I would certaily go with your plan if it was "dripping" hot.... I've never been in the heat of summertime, and I don't think I'd do all that well. Thanks for the update and the great pics!
P.S. Shameless plug, I started my PTR!! Only two months until my trip, but hey, at least I did it!!:goodvibes
