IMPORTANT - ALL DISigners & Requesters PLEASE READ!!!!!

We have a problem going on here that needs to be addressed.

It seems as though many requesters are asking for the EXACT same designs from multiple DISigners. This is not only rude, but it waste ALL of our time. NONE of us want to feel like our HARD work is just a waste. EVERYONE NEEDS TO REALIZE WE are ALL busy with request and sometimes it's hard to keep up and get to them all. It takes a LOT of time and effort to create these designs, they are NOT just thrown together. We ALL do it because we love it and want to spread some pixie dust to fellow DISer's. We also ALL feel compelled to do as many request as we can for everyone. WE do this out of the goodness of our hearts........ NONE of us get paid for this - all we ask is for a little respect and thoughtfulness. A Thank You is all we ask for. (and you'd be surprised at how often we don't even get that!!!)

I"m sorry, but, I'm DONE being taken advantage of.
This has happened to me personally 3 times just this past week. I'm not sure how many other times it's happened, as I've just started checking on it.

I want to make it clear to ANYONE who makes a request from me, IF you've asked for the EXACT same designs from another designer - I WILL NOT make the designs for you. You should also know - IT'S VERY EASY TO CHECK!!!!

I believe that ALL of us feel the same way - However, I don't want to speak for anyone else - BUT, there IS a sticky at the top of this board that addresses this EXACT problem that numerous DISigners agree with.

I value all the effort you guys do to attend us all.
And i want to add another thing thats been bothering me across the boards. I have seen some users asking so many disigns to so many different disigners that its impossible to use them all. I mean not the exact disigns but the amount of disigns is just way too much. Either the person is asking and then will choose which will be used or they wont be used at all, both ways are a waste of your time.
And by saying that i consider myself a person that has asked a lot of disigns and to show how i value the disigners time and work i tend to always post the picture of the finished product, like this:

And sometimes i just keep the disigns for a different occasion like i asked Millie and Veronica for diferent soccer balls, that will be both printed and used during the World Cup, or the beagle boys, that Mel did it, that will be used in Christmas.

Anyway i just wanted to second your opinion and tell how much i respect all your work.

Sorry if this included me but I have been on this site viewing designs for 10-15 hrs a day for the past 4 days (recovering from back surgery) and I may have asked for the same design more than once. I didnt realize that some designs are on more than one designers sites. Please forgive me if I have done this but since I can't do much laying down and I am on meds I am trying to plan for my upcoming trip. Thank you everyone for all of your designs I really appreciate your talents and willingness to share with everyone and wouldn't want to jeopardize it. Thanks for all you've done Kathleen

I just found this DISign forum this week and I have had nothing but quick responses on the things I've asked for. I would hate for you to all feel taken advantage of because ultimately it will lead to nobody doing it anymore. I just wanted to let you know I appreciate the work you do and can't wait to get closer to my vacation so I can make everything and use it.

I have only requested 3 things (from 3 different people) so I know the post wasn't directed at me but I wanted to let you know my feelings anyway.

I agree, IF someone wants multiple designs to choose from - just make your own thread asking for them........... then the designers who want to respond will and those of us who don't - no worries. BUT don't go into multiple designers threads and ask for the same thing.

*** I have actually had a situation with another designer where someone DID make an open post for some designs, then went to BOTH of us and asked in each of our threads for the same thing!!! That too is NOT what anyone should be doing!!!!!!!!!!!

I also wanted to add that the of intent of my post is NOT to call anyone specifically out. There really is NO NEED for anyone to post to defend themselves........... the one's who are doing this know who they are.

And for the record, NO Santilli - this was NOT directed at you at all. As far as I know you haven't done it.

I also want to make it clear to everyone that I love creating these designs for everyone - and I will gladly continue to make them - my problem is when someone ask for the EXACT same designs from multiple designers.
I know almost all of us have the same "types of designs or places" available, although NONE of them are the same concept - It's still completely NOT RIGHT for someone to request the same design from multiple designers.......... FOR EXAMPLE: If there are 6 of us with CRT designs........ you shouldn't ask all 6 of us to make one for you - you aren't going to use them all........... it's like you are trying to just choose which one you like best and then everyone else's hard work is for nothing. It's a waste of the other designers time, it makes other requesters have to wait, it's rude and it totally bogs down the entire process.

SEARCH all the designers threads or shared files, look at all the designs available, then decide WHICH designer you'd like to use.........AND IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND - That's fine, just delete your previous request ASAP - as to not have multiple designers working on the same thing!!!! Again, I hate to come off like a scrooge........... I'm not, I'm just trying to point out that this needs to be addressed.

I know it's easy to get caught up in the excitement of trip planning and all the great DISigns but give us a few days to actually make the DISign before asking another.

The designers here are very respectful of one another and most of us check out out each other's thread's often and can recognize each other's work easily. Being made to feel taken advantage of or unappreciated is SOOOO disheartening and takes away from the pixie dust that this forum tries to create!

I had a situation where someone was selling my designs on EBAY. I politely asked this person to stop and they replied that I should have a disclaimer with my working explaining how it should or shouldn't be used! So......... here is is:

What she is referring to is a very specific request that was made in the open forum, then one to me and one to her. Both she and I spent a great deal of time working on this special request and it was a waste of designer's time because only one design was needed.

All DIS'ers who visit this site should hopefully have read this.

The very basic thing is this - we designers are just ordinary people who work really hard here (often for more hours than we should) just to create magic for others. Most of you know this and do your part to be appreciative and respectful.

The sad reality is that there will always be someone who may not treat the designers here with respect for their time and talent. Hopefully this thread (as well as the sticky we created long ago) will educate those people who are abusing our kindness.

I love our little corner of the boards because it always seems to be such a positive group of people, hopefully this will remedy the situation so that we can all enjoy the extra pixie dust we receive here. Even as a designer, what I receive from all of you is irreplacable.

Glad you brought that up. If you didn't I was going to do it. I was so heated for you about that.

It's copyright infringement on Disney (to use their images for profit), but it's just plain rude to you. :sad2:

Bumping this up for EVERYONE to SEE!!! *** THIS PERTAINS TO INVITE REQUEST ONLY - ALL OTHER DESIGNS ARE NOT APPLICABLE!!!!!
OK - So, TODAY - I find I have YET ANOTHER requester doing this same EXACT thing.

I Feel I have NO CHOICE in this matter and therefore, I am going to start doing this............. and I hope my fellow DISigners follow suit. I think it's the ONLY WAY to eliminate this problem.

I WILL check ALL requesters who make a request to my thread for INVITES - all other designs are NOT applicable. IF they've asked another designer for the same request - I WILL NOT make them, AND I WILL advise the other designer - then they can choose to make them or not.

Again, a lot of time and effort go into making these designs - IF YOU cannot wait for a designer to get to them, OR if you are just wanting to "choose" which one you like best........... that IS WRONG and I will NO LONGER do it.

IF you have a request with one designer AGAIN FOR INVITES ONLY - and cannot wait for them to get to you - CANCEL that request ASAP - BEFORE you ask another designer. I know, sometimes one designer cannot get to your request before you need it, or it's getting down to the wire and you want to ask someone else............. that's fine, but don't leave the other request active.

PLEASE have some courtesy and consideration for ALL of us.

I would just like to add that multiple requests is why I stopped DISigning a few years ago. It does take time and it is very disheartening to do all of that work, get excited about the disign, post it, and then see that another disigner has also posted an invitation for the same person to the same restaurant for the same time.

Again - to clarify - this ONLY PERTAINS TO INVITES - All other designs are not involved. So, what you are doing, requesting is fine.

We are saying that it isn't fair, right or appreciated when you ask MULTIPLE DISigners to make the SAME EXACT INVITES, for the SAME EXACT date/ time etc!!!

Last week, it happened to me 3 times BEFORE yours. Since we spoke today, I now know that you made a mistake on your dates, but you DID ask for the same dates for the same place - to me and natalie - that is why I reacted the way I did. I had no way of knowing you made a mistake. So, Thank You for letting us know. If you need any other designs, just ask - we'd all be happy to do any for you.

Sometimes people just amaze me! You don't have to look around here very long to find where someone asks about the Disigns and are told how they can and can't be used. A disclaimer?? Oh please, that person knew exactly what they were doing and that it was wrong. I loved the large, red font! To all the wonderful Disigners, know that to many of us, you are so very appreciated. Your Disigns give me a little Disney magic each and every week! Thanks for all of your efforts!

I am down with this thread as well,:thumbsup2 it is very disappointing to work so hard on a disign and then see another disigners take on it used when the person requested on mulitple disigners threads. Most requestors don't give it another thought, but they need to remember that we are taking time away from our familes and spending most of our free time creating these designs and for some who are so greedy and try to get the same designs from multiple disigners makes me want to give up sometimes. But the fun of adding magic and all the other appreciative requestors makes me keep going. Most requestors should remember that we can read other disigners threads too, and from now on I think I will be doing what Wendy has decided to do and ignore the requests that I find are duplicated on other disigner's threads.:snooty:

I totally agree with all of you on this one. Thankfully this hasnt happened to me yet but I have seen numerous multiple posts and it completely frustrates me. I only design part time and applaud all you full timers. Everyone should be respected and realize we do this on our spare time and if we can create it in time we will but sometimes LIFE gets in the way and no offense but my familia comes first. I know everyone understands but sometimes you wonder....and I honeslty would HATE to see ANY of my DIS'er friends on here stop designing because were a big family on here as well and we would miss them dearly..

I just want to CLARIFY AGAIN - that this ONLY pertains to INVITES. If someone wants to request a design(s) from EVERY ONE of us.......... that's fine, but PLEASE don't ask more than ONE of us for INVITES to the EXACT same place, for the EXACT same date/time - so that you can then choose what you like best. That is UNFAIR, RUDE and Time consuming - ESPECIALLY when there are multiple people AFTER YOU who are waiting for their request to get done. It just waste our time, energy and effort - it's insulting to the designer whose work is basically disregarded - or not used.
Again, creating these designs takes time, our time, and we gladly give it free to all of you to help make some extra magic for YOU - ALL we ask for in return is for some common courtesy and respect.

I'd also like to let my fellow DISigners who've replied know - that while I did start this post - I APPRECIATE you stating your feelings and opions on this matter and I sincerely HOPE that this message gets out there and that WE ALL can stop being taken advantage of. I know ALL of YOU love doing this as much as I do.......... I'd hate to see ANY of us stop because of this kind of thing.

I'm new to designing but I've already seen this. The problem I'm having is people requesting WAY too many designs. There's no way they could ever wear every design they have requested. I started designing to "pay it forward" to others. The designers on this board have added so much pixie dust to my trips that I really wanted to do the same for others. Right now I'm having a hard time with that. Some people are making me feel a bit used.

And while we're at it....how hard is it to say "Thank You!!!!"

It really makes me happy to create a little bit of pixiedust for a fellow Disney Lover! But to feel taken advantage of is not a good place to be. The DISigners on this board are some of the most generous, wonderful people I've ever "met"! I purposely pour through all of the DISigns looking for blanks that I can personalize myself so that I don't have to bother any of you. You guys have so much to do without personalizing for us! I think that blanks are WONDERFUL!!! How could anyone sell your work!!! It seems that could get you in trouble with Disney!

Please don't flame me, but it amazes me how many people request DISigns on such short notice. It also doesn't seem respectful of your time.

I never cease to be amazed at the work you guys do. It is beautiful, stunning, wonderful, heart warming and most of straight from the goodness of your hearts. I greatly appreciate you all spending your "spare" time doing this for people. I understand wholeheartedly where you are coming from in this thread.

I have asked for various types of requests from various designers because each has their own take on the magic. It has amazed me every time what you guys come up with. I have things for this holiday as well as for some Disney-fied events at home :yay:
(Plus I'm going to put some up around my computer at work too :woohoo: )

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can't believe all the wonderful Disigns I now have for the different parts of our trip. None of my family know about any of it yet and I can't wait to decorate things as we go.

Just wanted to be another to say how much we appreciate all your good heartedness. I am so excited to share with my daughters the personalized, special treats for their first (of hopefully mainly) trips to WDW. Thank you so much for all you do. There always seems to be a few bad apples and i hope you all can remember the rest of the bushel that is soooooo appreciative of all you do!

this will be our third trip to DW and over the years the designers on this board have made our trips extra special, and I will be forever grateful and I have to say the kindness has reminded me the goodness in others. Sometimes I watch the new and think where is the goodness??? and then a strangers helped me to make our first surprise trip so extra special!!!!

I want to thank all the disigners for the fantastic work they do. I have been on here for two years and see disigners come and go. I hate that people want to take advantage of this. I love seeing all the designs and really wish more people would post their finished projects.

I've often wondered and talked to my friend (who is also on the DIS) about how you all deal with the many requests and issues like this. I get mad sometimes and I don't even make the designs! :laughing:
