I am considering purchasing the Canon G11 which debuts this month. Apparently, it is an upgrade from the Canon G10. Does anyone own the G10 and if so, do you recommend it???

My sister has one which she purchased on my recomendation. I think it is one of the better bridge cameras out there. I have not read the specs on the new one. She loves it.

It is my understanding it does not do that great a job in low light, but the quality of the images she gets are stellar!

I bought my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens off a guy on ebay who had downsized to the G10 because it was just easier to carry around. He was used to a dSLR with some nice glass and was very pleased with the G10.

Absolutely stellar camera! I have a very expensive Panasonic bridge camera, and many of my G10 photos are better than the Panasonic. I also have a Nikon, and I love the G10 best!

I got absolutely amazing Wishes photos in July! Love that camera, Tiger :)

Thanks for the info! :) I just pre-ordered the new Canon G-11 and am really looking forward to taking it on my next trip to Disney in November.

There's no guarantee it'll apply to the G11 but you might want to read a comparison featuring the G10 against a Hassleblad at low ISO. http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/kidding.shtml

For my summer holiday trip this year I took the G10 and the 350D (Rebel XT).

The G10 did a pretty fine job, I have to say. Obviously, it didn't do everything the SLR would do, but it still did well.

Have a look at the trip report here - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2268415 - the first day was all G10; other days were a mixture (the pictures contain all fo the EXIF information to tell you which was which camera. If you can't tell the difference, that probably says a good thing about the G10!)

Only problem is that it's not an easy camera to carry around - there's nothing to get your fingers around when you're casually carrying it.

Your pictures were wonderful - especially the close-ups! I only hope that mine are half as good. By the way, your kids are so cute!!! Thanks for sharing the pictures!!! :)

Why thank you! I think that's the benefit of being able to take countless digital photos - you can edit out the ones where the kids weren't being cute!
