View Full Version : Who applied for the 2010 Mickey Moms Panel?

I am wondering who applied for Disney's 2010 Mickey Moms Panel. I've applied in 2008 & 2009 and was looking forward to it this morning! I got up early (I'm MDT) to apply. It looks like they've tweaked the questions a little bit. I was able to submit my application so I'm happy! Maybe this will be the year they take me to another round (I'm wishing on a start right now!). Not counting on anything though, there are so many other great applicants and I think they get good "Moms" (and dads!).

I applied for the first time this year. I didn't really practice my answers, I just did it. What is it do you think they are really looking for?

I'll give it a shot later, but I'm not expecting to advance. Its pretty disappointing that the only Dad to make it to the 2009 panel is a professional Disney book writer.

This year when I clicked on my application submission, it said the week of November 1st.

I applied too!! Can anyone tell me what the rest of the process is like? When do those selected for the next round find out? What is the next round like, is it a phone interview?

THANKS!!

I would really like to know first hand about the process! I've read other Moms panel members talk about the process (in an allears article) but not sure where else to find this. BUT... Look what helloconnie posted below:

I did. The thing I think won't get me picked may very well be an advantage. I'm a step mom (and no not the Cinderella kind) so I can offer a different experience, when u have only 50% of the time to make magical memories that other families do every second counts that much more.

Hello all... I am a newbie to the disboards and excited about it. I too applied for the moms panel and feel really good about it. I wanted to last year, but my mother in law was in hospice. My husband says it's probably just a lot of luck. What do you think?:confused3

I too got an email from Disney stating that they got my application and thanked me. It's a form letter reply. It also said that if you make it to the next round, you will be contacted by a representative from Disney. It did not specify if that would be via another email or phone. Good luck everyone!!!

I applied! But I doubt I will make it onto the next round. I just didn't know what to write for the questions that would really jump out. What I put down, I am sure about 15,000 other people put down as well. Plus, I am a Disney Dad and they are discriminated against for the Disney Mom's Panel.

:rotfl:
I hear you...last year there was only 1 Disney Dad.
Seems like we have longer odds than theMom's.
Ours are 10,000 to 1 vs Moms at 1,111 to 1 (10,000 to 9)

I like my answers for the first two quesition but wish I had more time to think about #3.
They opened it at 8am our time and we had to leave to drop off my son for preschool in 15 minutes. In that time trying to come up with a solid answer yet keep it under 100 words. That's tough.
Of course, you feel pressured with them only taking the first 10,000, fearing if you don't fill out right away it would fill up before you got back by the end of the day.

I also just saw a question that said you could find out how the current panelists THINK they were picked!!! I'm checking it out now, cool!

:thumbsup2 Add another DISer to list of WDW Moms Panel candidates.

I had my fingers tightly crossed as I submitted my application. This is my first year submitting an application. I was too late submitting last year, they already filled their quota. I was determined to get in this year on the first acceptance day. I let out a big "Phew!" when I got the email confirmation. Now, it is a sit and wait game. :rolleyes1 For those that DO get to the next round, please let us know. If I don't get selected, I at least want to root for fellow DISers. :wizard:

:surfweb: Those 100 words for each section kept getting me. I had so much to say and had to keep rewording it to get it to fit. I hope the final outcome peaks their interest. You never know with things like this. :confused3

With so many DISers applying, the 20,000 applicants cut-off will be within days. :rotfl:

I wouldn't worry about being off the cuff or if you prepare. Check out the answers this year panel gave about why they think they were chosen. Some of the prepared their answers and some just went with their gut at the spur of the moment! (I posted the link on a previous page.)

Another thing to remember is that they will pick some young moms, some older moms, moms from each state, the UK, Canada, etc. They want some working moms and some SAH moms. That one mom was picked because her son has special needs. They are looking for a wide range of people with differing experiences. It isn't all about what you wrote per say.

My daughter and I actually think she and I should both be selected...we could be a (maybe the first) Mother/Daughter team.

Good luck to all!

It didn't show up in my spam folder either but I did read on the Moms Panel thread (from a current moms panel member) that she asked about this email. If you didn't get one, and you want to make sure that you submitted correctly, try to submit another application. If the page says 'you've already submitted' then they have your application. In the application instructions, it specifically asked for you NOT to cut and paste from Word or other word processing software to the application. Sometimes it can mess up in the conversion and look fine on your screen, but jibberish to the receipient. So, don't type in Word and then cut and paste it to the application. I want you all to have a fair chance at this opportunity and would hate for you to be elimimated due to the application being illegible to the judges. What some people have done is type on the application and copy that to Word to have it spellcheck. That is fine. :thumbsup2

Good luck fellow DISers! :wizard:

Does anyone know, if you are selected as one of the winners, if you are allowed to bring your family members on the trip?

I thought last year's winners won an all expenses paid trip to WDW for themselves and three family members. However, this year it only reads ...

Persons who are selected as panelists will receive a trip to Walt Disney WorldŽ Resort to participate in training for this exciting program.
(from the Moms Panel application site)

Maybe, there is a cutback this year or they only give you that info when you are selected.

I applied for the first time. I know it's a longshot, but you can't make it if you don't try. It was fun just writing the essays.

:goodvibes Jennifer

I have an email that says it is for the winner and 3 guests. :confused3

I applied this year. I thought about it last year, but wasn't sure. This would be great to be selected for. It sounds like so much fun!

Good Luck everyone!! :goodvibes

Just sending everyone good luck as the application process is winding down. And remember, entering is your ticket to becoming a member of the Mickey Moms' Club.

What do you think, we'll hear by early November? Or earlier than that, so that people can get stuff ready for the trip?

While I don't remember when I found out when I made it Round 2, my interview for Round 3 was on November 1. I found out the happy results on November 7.

Hope this helps!

:cool1:Congratulations on making it through last year! :cool1:

 If possible, what kind of questions did they ask? Not that they will use the same questions this year. But, to give people a better understanding of what to expect if they do make it to Round 2 and 3. Also, did they inform you ahead of time about the interview or did they just called? I'm curious about the process. :surfweb:

Thanks!

The second round involved answering 3 more questions, but I'm drawing a blank on the actual questions (it was way back in 2007!). I ended up receiving a phone call because my email wasn't working to find out I had made it to the 3rd round and to schedule the phone interview. I was soooo appreciative they had done some extra work to contact me.

I am a current member of Mickey's Moms Club and applied for the Mom's Panel again this year. I have pushed it to the back of my mind (planning a trip for December has helped) because I would drive myself crazy with anticipation.

We're thinking on Tuesday - that would give a week to respond (10/20), a few days to read everything and send out Round 3 notices and schedule interviews. There was something about notification on Nov. 1st, so we think that's the final panel notification.... we're hoping, at least. That might be pushed back a bit, but it will still give the panel time to get things arranged to go down the next month.

I can tell you that my submission was completely off the cuff--first draft-- so they aren't looking for a scholarly piece. Highlight anything you can that is unique about yourself. Write with color, humor and enthusiasm. Write as if you are scripting a commercial (which you kinda are). Assert your ability to find the answer about anything (which seems more important to them than direct experience). That's about it.
