JUNE 20 - THURSDAY
We woke up around 7:00 AM and got ready to go to Keystone Heights to visit my dad. Mom was on her way to the hospital for her Thursday morning volunteer work that she has been doing for over 10 years now.
On the way to my dad's we stopped at a small convenience store to buy some drinks. Jeff and I went inside to get them. When we were paying Jeff noticed a bunch of rolls of something under a glass counter. He asked me what that was and I said I think its lottery stuff (I wasn't sure myself). So he asked the cashier what it was and she said it was scratch off lottery tickets. Jeff said "is that legal????" She wasn't amused at all but I thought it was hilarious. Utah is one of just two state (I think) that doesn't have a legal lottery.
We had a nice visit with Granddad and didn't have any rain all day. He is building a new house in Keystone so he and his wife took us to look at the lot. They haven't really started any construction yet. I think he said they hope to be in around November.
The lake their current house is on, White Sands Lake, has really dried up a lot. Instead of one big lake it is now like 3 small ones with land in between. Its sad! The kids did get to enjoy the lake several times on other visits, going swimming and fishing. Now people ride 4 wheelers out where the lake used to be. I guess Florida has had several years of drought.
We had a cookout of hamburgers & hot dogs that was really good.
When we got back to Jacksonville we just got some Kentucky Fried Chicken for dinner. I had brought coupons from home so we used them.
After dinner Paul and the kids took a little walk down to the river.
Budget for the day:
$6 Drinks on the way to & from Keystone
$13 KFC
