Did anyone get the invitation to the Grand Opening Webcast for later this month? Is this there way of selling the last few memberships and will there be good deals???
A CM in DL said that they will be renovating the GCV models to make them look like the Hawaiian models in the fall/spring(can't remember). Perhaps this is their way of liquidating the last few so they can get started on their next project............

Nope. But apparently I'm not on the mailing list. If my SIL didn't call me I wouldn't have known that the resort was for sale. I would like to hear more though. What is it?

I received it last Friday. They're having a few webcasts 9/23 - 9/26 to showcase the VGC. I think DVCNews website has a link if you'd like to sign up or send me a PM and I'll forward my email.

Thank you so much for directing me to a link for this. I did not receive an invite but just signed up and am very excited to watch the webcast. Seeing as we are already in a state of point borrowing, my dh may be open to adding on if the incentives are good. :thumbsup2

Your welcome! I seem to be in a constant state of borrowing no matter how many points we have. :confused3

Me too! I wonder how much of sale promo it will be. I just hope to be able to see some of it. Esp if there is a viewing area of the WOC.

We just returned from the Member Cruise where we added points for GCV. The CM that helped us with the add-on said he would be hosting the webcast. We were told that the incentives offered on the cruise were better than what will be offered during the webcast. From what I remember, the overall incentives would go up to approximately $14 - $16/point off the current rate of $112/point. This is similar to the incentives offered around March 2009 when we purchased our first add-on at the GCV.
By comparison, the incentives offered during the cruise (only for GCV) were:
50 -75 points: $15.00/point off $112, or $97/point
100 - 120 points: $23.00 off, or $89/point
125 points: $25.00 off, or $87/point
200 or more: $27.00 off, or $85/point.
Since we purchased 130 points, we also received a framed color lithograph of the "lost soup scene" from Snow White that DVC commissioned Disney Animator, Ducky Williams to paint just for the Member Cruise. The member adding on the most points during the cruise took home the original. We also received a DVC pin and an invitation to a cocktail party in the Roy O. Disney suite, which was alot of fun...seeing that we could never afford to stay in the suite on points or cash.
I know this has been posted before, but during the DVC presentation, it was announced that the price per point for BLT is going up to $120/point on 10/4/09.
Even though we've already purchased all the GCV points we can currently afford, we'll be watching the webcast hoping to get a glimpse of our soon to be "favorite home away from home"...sorry BCV, we still love you too.

I also received an invite and signed up for opening day..the 23rd. I really can't afford anymore points right now either, but looking forward to the webcast. (and why did the BLT folks get a goodie box for their webcast and VGC folks didn't :( )

Just FYI, I received a fedex pkg with a few little goodies in conjunction w/ the webcast. I got a cardboard/ glossy paper type pin with a pic of GCV and Mickey, Donald & Goofy w/ the opening date printed on the bottom. Very Cute. I also received a thin mousepad with the Artist rendering of GCV on it. There was a DVC notepad and then other promotional items like point charts, small GCV brochure, member getaways maps from 2009, and a "Grand" Opening welcome letter. :cool1:

Does every VGC owner get the goodies?? Was already planning on watching the webcast... although I can't find a web addy for it for some reason.
ETA: Nevermind, mommy brain stupidity... found the addy buried in all my emails. Question remains, are they sending goodies to everyone or only those of us who signed up for the webcast?

The included letter specifically said 'Thanks for signing up to attend...' so I assume it's just to those who registered for one of the sessions...

So sad, we didn't receive our packet of goodies and I signed up on the first day.:sad2:
I thought the incentives would of been better, these aren't as good as the previous ones.

True but those incentives are gone and may never be equalled. If someone attended the webcast and is interested in adding points, I don't know that it would be in their best interest to hold out for something better.

Did anyone watch it last night? Our computer wasn't cooperating and we missed the first 15 minutes. But it still seems like buying on a cruise gives you the best deals, according to the poster on page 1, as well as our recent experience on the cruise in February.
What do you all think about the telecast? What did you think of the "funny" lady?

I'm not sure that's even a reliable rule of thumb.
We cruised in Februrary 2009. The deals offered during our sailing were exactly the same as what was being marketed to the public UNLESS you purchased something like 500 points. At that high level they added an RCI week to the offer. But for lower point add-ons the prices were exactly the same.
As the economy worsened in early '09 incentives continued getting better. But from June forward they have slowly pulled back on the discounts and now have an $8 price increase pending on BLT. Publicly DVC insists its pleased with the pace of sales and the dwindling discounts seem to confirm that. While the prices we're seeing are not as good as they were in the winter and spring, I still think folks may be in for a rude awakening if they are holding out for similar deals.
When it comes to discounts, 14 months ago $8 per point was the norm and $12 was viewed as an amazing bonus. If DVC has its way, the days of offering a $20+ per point discount are quickly coming to an end.

We were at the gathering last night also. The GV was amazing! I believe the hit of the night was the TV within the mirror of the master bath. One story that was told to me was an "A" actor is a big Disney fan and stayed with his family quite frequently at this resort in their favorite room. When the DVC addition started to be constructed, his favorite view became obstructed. So he called down to the desk to see what was going on and they stated that this addition was for DVC members. He wanted to know what that was and they transferred him to a sales rep. Low and behold he bought a substantial amount of points to guarantee his view (I heard approx. 3 x's a week's points). There are only two GV's at this resort.
When it comes to discounts, 14 months ago $8 per point was the norm and $12 was viewed as an amazing bonus. If DVC has its way, the days of offering a $20+ per point discount are quickly coming to an end.
I bought in July with a $22/pp discount, and that's without the AP discount, (it would have cost more pp if I added the AP's...;););) )
There was a post that on one of the cruises, the VGC discount was down to $85/pp (at the cruise). That being said, I'm just happy I have what I got. Hard to say because of the above post, who know's what the cost will be in the future.
I just feel blessed to be able to afford DVC @ GVC...I'm actually thinking of donating some points to a family who doesn't have the capability to have what we have...:littleangel: A little vacation for those in need...:)
Thanks to all who have posted pics...:yay:

I got off the 7 nite eastern on 9/5/09. They had good deals on GCV. They gave $27 off on purchases of 200 pts or more (or $85/pt).
I'm not sure that's even a reliable rule of thumb.
