We're going to WDW the first week of October. I would love to go to MNSSHP, but my husband has a "been there, done that" attitude about it. He wasn't impressed when we went last time because the crowds were huge and the lines for characters & the decorated carriage were insane. We are staying 9 nights in my first choice resort; flying instead of driving, as I prefer; and I'm doing the KTTK tour. Soooo, I want to respect that he's not interested and not push the point.

I had forgotten all about the fact that there are haunted carriage rides at Ft. Wilderness until I read my Allears newsletter. It's $60, which is much less than the $200+ for all of us to go to the party. Has anyone been? How scary is it? My kids are 11 & 8; they'll be fine with spooky, but I don't want them scared silly. Heck, I don't do scary too well myself.

All opinions appreciated.

There's a description of the Haunted Carriage ride in my October trip report, (see link below -- my review is in post 24.) It has pics and spoilers -- so you can see exactly what it's like.

My 4 year old was scared -- but not overly so -- and she LOVED it. As an adult, I did not find it scary at all, just something unique to do at Halloween and I enjoyed the carriage ride part of it.

An 11 and 8 year old -- hard to say. They may enjoy it, may not. But I can guarantee they won't be scared silly. It's not like some of the local haunted houses I've been to that I think are terrifying. This is much tamer.

I've moved this thread to the Camping at Disney World board. This is the best place to discuss all of the offerings available at Fort Wilderness. :)

I'm a scaredy-cat in all respects. While the parts are played very well, I never truely felt terrified. It is Disney after all. But it definatly gives you the creeps and shivers down my spine.
