Wilderness Cabins question

I have a question that will seem extremely odd to some.

May daughter, grandaughter and myself are thinking of booking a week at the Wilderness cabins. We go to WDW at least once a year and usually stay at my favourite resort which is the Wilderness Lodge.

For some reason the cabins appeal to me and I have always wanted to try them out.

Here is my situation and my question. Are there snakes around the cabins? Has anyone ever experienced snakes getting in the cabins? Some people have a fear of snakes - I have a total unmanageable terror of these creatures.

For anyone who has stayed in the cabins, please give me your experiences.

I know there are snakes at WDW but I havent seen any at FW although recent posts state people have seen them. I saw a snake at Wilderness Lodge lying on the ground just below our courtroom view room sunning itself about a foot from the ground floor patio. I also saw a snake scurry across the sidewalk at POR as we were walking. We stopped and let it pass.

I understand having a phobia of snakes. I don't share that one but I have a few myself. And practice avoidance of them on a regular basis.

I have never seen a snake in the cabin. I have never seen a snake outside of the cabin. But I wasn't looking. It is Florida, I know they are there. I have never seen one on the deck either. Just some little lizards.

The cabins are actually "trailers". They are off the ground about 2 feet. I haven't even seen ants in there.

I say try the cabins!!!

You really should try the cabins,, they are very nice and comfy with daily mouse service.

Snakes ? I have never heard of anyone see'n a snake in the cabins. Snakes generally stay away from activity so not likely you'll see any inna cabin and you are less likely to see any at the Fort if you stay to the areas with activity. Snakes really are as afraid of people as we are of them so they avoid us.
We have been to the Fort many many times and RARELY have seen a snake, (and I'm one of those people who tend to roam into the deep woods to go fish'n, hike'n, atc.)

All that being said,,I think ya'll would really enjoy the Fort, it is a wonderful place for family, it's great to be outdoors, and theres so much to do there for everyone.
Try it, you'll hava great time.

We did not see any snakes.... other wildlife, but not snakes!

I am not a snake person at all... and, I would deff. remember that! :)

They are great! We are headed back, and plan on it being our regular vacation place.

There is a warning about snakes in the Gazette that they give to guests when they check into Ft. Wilderness.

There are snakes in Florida. I have visited the Fort a lot, and have only seen maybe two or three snakes. And those were non-venomous snakes.

But, we should all be careful.

That story about the little boy was scary, but it's not putting us off our upcoming vacation at the cabins :thumbsup2. We're counting down the days (91).

Well, I guess I am crazy about the Ft... as I read the article, and obviously feel terrible about the whole thing.... but, I am ready to go back anytime :)

I think that it is just like anything, keep your eyes/senses open, and play it smart, (stay on paths, public areas, etc)

I know this is Florida, and there are snakes and gators all over the place, but to be honest, I've seen more reports of snake sightings at the other resorts than I have at FW. Maybe it's because people expect to see more "wildlife" when they're camping, or maybe it's because the people at the resorts think they shouldn't be seeing any "wildlife" so they report it thinking it's unusual. Personally, I have not seen a snake anywhere on Disney property, including at the Fort - but I know they're out there . . . . . .

I would think with the cabins that a snake would be more likely to curl up under the deck or the cabin itself than to try to get in. Just remember to keep your cabin doors shut unless actually passing through them. Open exterior doors at any resort can lead to all sorts of interesting "roommates".
