I dont usually do this because it seems a little self-serving....but this is kinda cool and I wanted to share it.

You should read this thread....

But you have to read it from the beginning....and notice the time stamps on the posts.

Just a feel good thread.

I dunno......it's a little "look how cool we are" and that makes me a little uncomfortable.

Pish posh.

We all already know how cool you all are and it was a great "feel good" story. I really appreciated reading it and would never have seen it if you hadn't posted it here.

You have the same humility that Shirley and Norm do.. you don't do what you do because you have to... you do it because you care...

Great Story and :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: to everyone involved!!!!!

I didn't know who Shirley and Norm were, but by gosh, I'd want them to be on my side if I'm ever in a jam!

Well, I'd want John and Kelsie in on the action, too, I'd imagine. ;)

I figured it was a happy ending, or Kevin wouldn't have posted here. Gave me the warm fuzzies. :goodvibes

Shirley and Norm are from the Perfect Gift.. the ones who make the great baskets for the cruises...

I've heard great stories of how they've helped people who were stranded by storms and such... and you're right Lori...I'd want them on my side!!! :thumbsup2

I posted on the other thread - this is an amazing community. Kevin don't feel self-serving.

What I can't believe is that I was on the boards on and off all day yesterday and was oblivious. Not that I could have done much.

Now we know why John is the "genius"

There is nothing wrong in being proud of what you do, and the lengths you go to help people. It's one of the many reasons why we love you guys! :lovestruc

I agree, I don't think this was self-serving at all. I cried through the entire thread (had my purse stolen and it was a horrible feeling, can't imagine it happening while on vaca). I can imagine how helpless they felt not knowing what to do. Sometimes we need to lean on somebody for help, support, and guidance. Clearly, The DIS has quite a few people who are willing rise to the occasion time and time again (no matter what the situation may be). Kudos to Shirley and the DU team for helping this family.

I don't think the post is self-serving, but I do think that everyone needs to keep things in perspective. Everyone involved did a great job in trying to help make it possible for the trip to continue. I think DU went above and beyond what a typical TA may have done, but, and this is a big but, if the purse had not been found, in time, with IDs intact, they would not have been able to board the cruise. It's great that everything worked out as it did, and the folks involved definitely deserve kudos for the assistance they were able to provide.

Thanks for posting the link Kevin- that was a true nail-biter!

I haven't used Shirley and Norman's services before, but will seriously consider them for our PCC2.0 cruise. :thumbsup2

In case anyone else wants to know more about them- here is the link to The Perfect Gift (http://www.theperfectgift.cc/). I had a devil of a time trying to find it on the site! (Thankfully) The DIS does not put sponsors and advertisers in your face- so it takes some digging to find them.

Everyone involved (including the CM who found the purse!) went above and beyond.
I'm proud to be a member of this great family! :goodvibes

Kevin, Thanks for sharing this. I don't think it's self serving either. This is the kind of thing that needs to be shared...with all the 'bad' stuff out there, it's nice to know that there are still wonderful people who will go the extra mile to help those in need. It's also an eye opener for those of us who are going to WDW and on cruises to be extra careful of the surroundings and protect our valuable documents because there are not so good people also.

Kudos to all involved.
