The first four years we owned, we took our vacations in July or August. Twelve nights each year, alternating months so we could use our annual passes for two trips.
Last year, we purchased an add-on that allowed us to throw in a bonus trip during Christmas week.
Now, we're even further down the slippery slope. Last night over dinner, I said something (very off-handedly) about how nice it would be to see Disney at Halloween. 25 exciting minutes later, we had DVC, MNSSHP, airline, and Owner's Locker reservations finalized for a 4-day weekend jaunt to SSR.
We're doing MNSSHP on Halloween night (how cool is that?). I was also thrilled to find out that the trip will allow us to visit Epcot during F&W.

That's awesome...nothing like having the flexibility to go when you want to go... I love DVC.
Enjoy! I really loved seeing the Halloween decorations when I went during that time the other year. It was so much fun! I hope you and your family have a wonderful time.

You ARE talking about THIS Halloween, right? You had no trouble finding a room with such short notice? Gives me hope!

You ARE talking about THIS Halloween, right? You had no trouble finding a room with such short notice? Gives me hope!I wouldn't say "no" trouble. But it was pretty much painless.
We were looking for 3 nights in a studio 29 OCT - 1 NOV. I had her check every single resort. SSR was the only one with any of the nights available. Fortunately, SSR had all three nights and we didn't have to waitlist anything.
Staying at SSR is not an issue, as we love it. I asked her to check all the other resorts, mainly to see if there was something open at a resort we haven't tried yet. If there had been, I would have gone for it.
I may call back and ask them to put me on a BLT waitlist on the off chance new inventory is declared and something opens up. I won't waste my time on a waitlist for the Epcot resorts during F&W.

Well Dave, the weather is fine down here at the bottom of the slope!:rotfl:
I've been down here a long time and the only cure is to add more points.:goodvibes
Keep checking! I was able to put together a 3 day "sanity weekend" together at BLT next week. Just booked my last day this morning. I have a studio, 1 night MK view and 2 nights Stan View so inventory is being added.
Airfare is cheap right now and having DVC makes these getaways possible.
You'll love F&WF too! Have you checked the concert schedule for your dates yet?

:banana::banana: Welcome to my world. :rotfl: We started with BWV points. Added VWL and then AKV. Now we've settled in to March at AKV, October at BWV and December at VWL.

In December I am taking my almost 2 year old away for the weekend by myself. If I can handle that trip I may take both the kids away for a long weekend.
He is my troublemaker so I have to see. My almost 8 year old is a vacation pro.

Honestly, I just laughed out loud. Sitting in my office all by myself. You pulled that together in 25 minutes???
What a pro. Very exciting. I love when I get the go ahead to get something planned. The blood gets pumping for sure!!!
Have a great time!
Glad to hear inventory is opening up for BLT as well...

Ummm... you're in good company! :grouphug: We mistakenly did both Halloween & Christmas in one year several years ago... and have done it every year since. :lmao: This year we're adding NYE to the mix, too! :rolleyes1
Have a great time! :thumbsup2

Way to go, Dave! I hope that sometime in my life I am able to do a relatively last minute trip and have all of the pieces come together as well as your trip! Have fun! :cool1:

That's awesome Dave! My slope led me to two nights/ 3 days in a one bedroom concierge at Jambo house this May! I like hitting the slopes once in a while!
By the way...you will LOVE it! Halloween and F & W is our most favorite time of year in WDW! It's gotten waaaay more crowded over the years as compared to our honeymoon in 1997, but still loads of fun! In 1997 MNSSHP was one night only...halloween! We went and had the time of our lives!
Enjoy!

Cool, isn't it?
We're at the point where we stay over a month at Disney every year.

Before our dd got to old to miss school and had a year round calendar we made 5 different trips to OKW/Vero/DCL. Loved planning those trips!

Looks like your in good company. The slope is very slippery and it's why we're going to VGC in Oct (have to check out our new home) and AKV/DCL/THV in Nov. I'm almost afraid of what will happen after taking our first Disney cruise. :scared1:

You know you all are :scared1: me. We are once a year folks. Our tradition is every summer around the 4th of July we make our one trip. But we all are saying hey how about a second trip to break up the the dark rainy snowy cold season in Chicago which lasts about 8 months?

What fun and how lucky are we all that we can do this??!! I just did a similar trip in May....very stressed out at work, came home called Member Services and booked a room at BW for 1 night and 2 nights at AKV (wait listed for all 3 nights at BW....never thinking it would come thru...it did!!!) , booked a flight on JB and was on my way in just 10 days from thinking about it to being Home!!! Something I had always wanted to do and it was fabulous !!! A slippery slope indeed!!

I recently bought a small BCV contract so that we can get a 2nd trip every 3rd year. Once I get all of this paid off, I see another small contract at a different resort so that we can get a 2nd trip one of the other 2 years.
I"m working my way down that slope!
You are awesome! We were there one year on Halloween and attended the party and it was spectacular. My 80-something dad was on the floor trading candy afterward. We were in a Fairway Villa at the Disney Institute! I think that's where Grandstand is now. :thumbsup2
