Hi.

So we are wondering the best time to go to Disney...

We have been twice at Oct half term before (not staying on site) and loved the halloween things. And the weathr was still quite mild.

we went in March this year and stayed at SL. It was fairly quiet and again getting milder!

So are these the best times because the weather is nicer??

Or would going in January out weigh the weather because it is alot quieter and cheaper?

Or is the chrismas season something worth seeing???? Does this start beginning of November??

Just not sure when weighing up price, weather, whats on, how busy it will be - when would you say is best to go???

thanks

If you haven't yet been at Christmas, I'd say that would be good - I love all the Christmas theming at DLRP. I've been at Halloween too, and that was great fun, but Christmas, I also think, is a must-see if you can.

Christmas season at DLRP runs from 8th November all the way through to early January 2010 this year. We went mid-November a couple of years ago, it was cold but not unbearably so, we did have one mild day (ie no coats needed) and also some rain though. The parks were quiet, and it got dark around 5pmish, so you got to see the parks all lit up before park closing time too .

They are two of the better times. Better weather and lower crowds make them my favorate times of the year to go

Or would going in January out weigh the weather because it is alot quieter and cheaper?

I've been for a weekend in January and it was very, very cold...so much so that it snowed overnight. The park is lovely with a covering of snow but I personally think that the cold outweighs any benefits. Unless you could only afford to go in January, or wanted to stay in a better hotel than you would normally then I'd say to pick another time

Or is the chrismas season something worth seeing???? Does this start beginning of November??

Just our opinion but we were very dissapointed with the Christmas decoration after seeing Halloween...maybe we went to early after seeing Halloween, or maybe it was because the parks were so busy but we just didn't enjoy ourselves as much as we did at Halloween. I beleive that Christmas starts around the 7th November this year but I'm not 100% on that.

Just not sure when weighing up price, weather, whats on, how busy it will be - when would you say is best to go???

My absolute favorate times of the year are early May, mid September and early October. Always nicer weather, lower crowds (avioding half terms) and they should be reasonable prices then as well.

Whatever you decide I hope you have a great time :wizard:

I think the christmas season is def worth seeing, ive been in Nov a few times i cant recall it being overly busy, but as it gets closer to Dec i can imagine it getting busier again.
The weather will be a bit cooler in Nov but is is good to wrap up warm, with all the christmas dec's everywhere:love:
I will always remember sitting in the SL next to the fire, was lovely drinking our hot chocolates there.
Im going back in Dec as i do love the christmas season:)

Hello! Sorry to but in but had a related question.:flower3:
We go in 19 days :cool1: but I'm already thinking about next year! :rotfl: Would love to see Christmas Disney-style :santa:, would the full decs be up when the season starts in Nov? Is it worth catching the end of the fireworks too? Sadly can't afford to stretch the trip so as to squeeze in Halloween to, or that would have been perfect!! :cloud9:

We went in the first week of December in 2006, Fri-Sun, the weather WAS cold but it was a great excuse to buy some Disney mugs and keep filling them with Hot Chocolate!

However, we did suffer through rain on the Sat and Sun and both weekend days were MUCH busier than the Friday, my advice would be to go in decmeber early and during the week.

Well worth the visit though, the place is STUNNING, I just could not stop taking pictures of the castle at night!

September this time, going to be mild weather and quietish - I hope!!! Good enough for us as this is the first time with the littlest one!!!

Thanks everyone.

Christmas sounds great. We have 4 children who are 8, 6, 3 and just 1 so I think that would be magical for them. Beats a dodgy grotto in a dept store :)

So I'm thinking sometime during the last 2 weeks of Nov, so maybe its a bit quiter and milder than December??? And hopefull all the Decs should be out by then? What do you think? I don't want to go to early in Christmas season and not have everything out or it not be as special.....

I went last Nov the day before Xmas started and the next morning all the decs were up and Xmas music playing in the park, it was a bit surreal :rotfl:

Everything is as decorated for Christmas as its going to get, from the first day of the Christmas season in November :). Last year, they had the Fantillusion evening parade going every evening in November, but the year before, it was only weekend evenings, until the 1st December, when it changed to every evening.

Everything else Christmas takes place from the 1st day of the season in November.

Ok, a bit of a thread hijack, but I have a similar question. I can only go in school holidays (teacher:)) so whenever I go it will be busy, but when is the best holiday to go. We have always been in the middle of August, but I've decided next time we won't. The cost plus the crowds outweigh the chance of sun (and this year it was a bit TOO warm:laughing:) and the longer hours. But when else should we go? Probably not Xmas, but that still leaves us October, Feb, April and May school holidays to choose from and I am finding it hard to decide.:confused3
