I am a 1st time cruiser and I was wondering if you can explain how they arrange dinner seating? Are you seated with other people? And if so, do they try to seat you with children of the same ages? For example, we have 2 teens, we wouldn't be seated with toddlers would we? (By the way, we love toddlers, we were just thinking in terms of converation .) How many guests to a table? There are 4 in our family. Sorry for all the questons. Thanks in advance.

There are three different dining rotations, and generally they try to group the different family types with like family types. Therefore, families with toddlers are somewhat likely to be dining with other families with toddlers; families with teens are somewhat likely to be dining with other families with teens; and adults traveling without kids are somewhat likely to be dining with other adults traveling without kids.

If you prefer to sit by yourselves you can request it...they are able to seat a certain amount of people by themselves. We were traveling with my 2 year old and the last thing I wanted to be worried about is her being difficult at dinner while seated with other people so we had a table for 3....

On our park/cruise combo, my DH and I were seated by ourselves at dinner, which we didn't request. It was just us and two empty seats, so I think they must have had a cancellation. Anyway, in our situation, we enjoyed being alone, but it would have been nice to have another couple without kids to share our experiences with.

What everyone else said is true.
We requested a table for 2 since this was sort of a "second honeymoon", trip without the kids for us, but we did get seated with another couple. They were nice enough and all but I would have much preferred to have been alone. I would have been more comfortable and we wouldnt have had to wait for them(They were always late and then while they caught up to us, DH & I basically had to sit there and waste time).
But anyway, if its the conversation you are worried about, from the mother of a toddler, trust me...if you get seated with a toddler there will be plenty to talk about. ;)
