I'm with B.O.B.
08-29-2009, 10:48 PM
This is Thread #27 of the BOB threads.

Welcome to the "I'm with B.O.B., are you?" Cruise Thread. This cruise has been dubbed the BOB cruise because there are so many cruisers who are celebrating something on board and because of this, it was originally called Bash On the Boat which eventually got shortened to B.O.B. There actually is no one named Bob on this cruise (our KK1 Bob is sadly not joining us this time) but I'm sure all the non-bobers on this cruise would love to be with Bob too :goodvibes

If you're new to our group, you're not alone. Several of us have sailed together before (on the 10/20/07 Western Cruise - a.k.a. Konked Kruisers) and several more are new. To indicate the ones new to the group, we have put an * infront of their DIS name.

The following is the same as the other first posts. For those of you new to our DIS Meet thread - WELCOME. There is plenty of good info in this post.

As usual, I'll be back here to update this post periodically. I will try to keep important information up here for all to reference as well as for all our new friends who come to cruise with us. If something of importance comes up, PM me and I will add the link.

We have dubbed this cruise "The Bash on the Boat" because so many people are celebrating birthdays or anniversaries on this cruise. You will also see "KK2" in the title. As you will read, many of us just sailed together on the 10/20/07 Western Cruise. So, with many of us returning here, we are dubbing this KK2. For those of you who didn't sail with us, please don't feel that you are not part of the group. We are a very open and welcoming/friendly bunch. We had such a great cruise last time, but feel it will be even better this time. Come along and enjoy the fun. A good place to start for planning this trip would be Cass' website. She has done a great job to organize almost everything you'll need for this cruise and posting here on the BOB board. Here is the link to Cass' site Cass B.O.B. Information Site

Here are links to posts that we found important through this and the previous threads.

TRACKING YOUR DOCS
About 2 weeks before your cruise follow this UPS link.
http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/reference?loc=en_US

In the shipping reference put your cruise confirmation #. In the zip code put your zip or if you used a travel agent put their zip.

This will track your documents. It will give you up to date delivery information. If you used a travel agent it will be sent to them and they will have to get it to you. Most of the stuff that is in the pack you can do online ahead of time now.

IMPORTANT DATES

DIS TAG
As of August 13th, 2009, Dis Tag participation is CLOSED. In order to give everyone sufficient time to buy and prepare their Dis Tag gifts, we needed to have a cut off date and that date is now passed.

If you have any questions or concerns about Dis Tag, please PM Karen Mouse or millerpjm.

In case anyone is wondering what the FO game we play here on the B.O.B. cruise meets thread, here is the explanation:
FO is a game (for lack of a better description) that was started on the Konked Kruiser thread that some of us belonged to for the October 07 cruise. The term FO was started by afeg.

Anyway, the game in a nutshell....if you post, and your post is the beginning of a page, then you try to get the second post on the page also. It means you have started a "Fresh One".

Now, this isn't always as easy as it seems - if there are multiple posters on at the same time, and someone else gets the second post, you don't get to "claim the FO". The 40 second rule between postings comes into play.

And finally here are two very handy links for your cruise...

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Tips and Tricks

Remember, you can gain entry to MK as early as 4pm on the day you are attending MNSSHP. Use the turnstyles to the very right-hand side
and don't forget to get your wristbands and TOT bags when you enter!

Here's some tips for those of you who have never gone....

-Get there as early as 4pm, use the entrance at the very far right. Make sure they give you your wrist band and trick-or-treat bag!

-Between 5pm and 7pm is the best time to do the rides as most people are leaving the park!

-If you think you will be there until the end of the party, do the second parade as it is less busy. During the first parade, do the rides as everyone is at the parade.

-If you are watching the first parade, make sure you claim your spot about an hour before the parade!

-Watch the fireworks near the hub/tommorowland entrance to get a good view of the witch flying down from the castle! (The witch takes Tink's place during mnsshp)

-Check out the storefront windows along Main Street, they are decorated for Halloween!

-Make sure to ride Haunted Mansion, it is a totally different atmosphere there during the party.

-You can only buy the mnnshp merchandise (pins, t-shirts, music) during mnsshp party hours, so if you want something party specific, check the stores after 7pm.

-If you want to see characters, there's tons in Tomorrowland (near Carousel of Progress usually) and Fantasyland! Some are only ever seen during the party!

-Don't waste your time getting your fortune told, it's cheesy and the lines can take forever!

-If you want lots of candy, stop by the treat stations near the end of the night, they usually give out handfulls then!

-Make sure to enjoy the atmosphere on Main Street USA and the entrance area, especially if you got there at 4pm when the Halloween decorations weren't all up!

COOLIO! Careful with that thing. It is addictive. I got to the point where I couldn't go anywhere without it! Then, I wanted internet access in more places and it ultimately ended up with me getting an iPhone. Here's my list of favorite apps:

Acro Bible NIV Plus: (don't get this one right now because they are having technical difficulties with the installation of the new version. But once done it's wonderful to have the entire Bible in such a compact form.

WDW mini-maps: they have one for each park. if you're planning a trip to WDW and arent familiar with their layouts this will be nice.

Countdown+: This is a fun app that countdowns the days until special events.

Documents To Go: The best word processor for the iPhone/iTouch. But their spreadsheet is not ready for prime time yet.

Dots Free: fun game.

eReader or Kindle: apps for reading eBooks. I've used both and they're both great I lean toward Kindle because of the Amazon selection is great and downloading is easy. You'll never want to carry a book around again!

Fandongo: for finding out what's at the movies.

Flood it: fun game.

Ged-View: if you're into Genealogy.

Peggle: just like the computer game. very fun!

Phone flix: for accessing your NetFlix account

Photobucket: for accessing you photobucket account.

Spreadsheet: If you absolutely have to have a spreadsheet program and can't wait until Docs-to-go finishes theirs.

Sudoku (free): fun game.

Toy Story Mania: Awesome! A must have!

Cheaper than a good Bible by a lot, so perhaps I should spring for it.

Chis, I really like the Acro Bible. it's easy to use and customizable. Really bummed that the Apple version is buggy right now. They say they are working with Apple to figure out the problem. I still have it on my iTouch. Just stupidly deleted it off my iPhone to try to get the upgrade app to load. Now I have to sit in church with the iTouch on one leg for the Bible and the iPhone on the other to write my notes. Major techno geekiness.

Holy cow, peeps!! It took me a while to catch up. I think I skipped a couple of pages.

Anyone heard about baby Madeline?

Chris, we are going to have to trade stories of our NY Italian families. My grandfather and great uncle were part of 'the family' for real.

Good books to read:

Secret life of Bees
Anything by Elizabeth Berg
Anything by Maeve Binchey (especially Tara Road)
Anything by Fannie FLagg who wrote Fried Green Tomatoes
A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson (hilarious)
Joy Luck Club
Memoirs of a Geisha
Before Women had Wings

Loved My Uncle Vinney and Marisa Tomei.

O.k. am I caught up?

Going to the farmer's market today and then to my parents house so my mom can start working on my formal night dress. THe last time I wore I Sean was 5 months old and I had a lot of baby fat

Woooooooo hooooo Jen!! That was my Christmas present from 2008, but then 3 months later we upgraded our cells to the Iphone (which does everything the itouch does except it has a phone)

Isn't it great???? Have fun playing with it and figuring out all the fun features!!

I LOVE it! DH got one last year, and I have been a bit envious...

The coverage for the iphone isn't great in our area yet (plus we have about 1 1/2 years on our cell contract) so I was happy to wait on the iphone for now.

So, anyone with an iphone or itouch, feel free to recommend your favorite apps!

OK folks, here are a couple pictures of the front of the house. I'm trying to decide between the hunter green shutters (on the left) or the black shutters (on the right) for the rest of the house. You really can't see the roof but the shingles are black. The new siding is Pearl (not white).

I really like the green but am afraid that there will be too many colors on the house with it. Black roof, white trim, Pearl Siding and red brick. I also think it might look too Christmasey.

The storm windows are not in the picture either. All the windows are trimmed in black right now, so try to visualize that in there too.

LOL! I should have kept reading...awesome list! I have Stanza for an ebook reader - I didn't know you could get Kindle. I will have to discuss that with DH to see if he'd want to do something like that. He loves ebooks - he will read at lunch every day.

I did find a free app to let me keep track of what I eat and stuff - that might be useful to try and get back into the losing weight swing of things.

Sigh...back to cleaning unfortunately, but it's going well. DS just went through toys to get rid of - he got ri of quite a bit which is good!

Just catching up (again!). Thought I'd add to the iPhone apps list. Matthew has a couple of games. One is "Sally's Spa". The kids and I both played this on our trip to WDW in July. He also has one that is landing airplanes. I don't know what it's called. He put this one on my iPod. It's a bit addictive for how simple the game is. Since he got his iPhone, I've been wanting to upgrade to one too! My old phone uses a stylus and is not very easy. It looked great when I got it, but it's just too fussy to use. So I may be joining the iPhone club soon.

Hello everyone. Just checking into the new thread. Have not had much time to dis since we are moving. We were not going to move until we bought our house, but my uncle owns a townhouse. So he offered us the oppurtunity to move into it. Lets see here....two bedroom apartment or three bedroom townhouse, for the same rent. Was pretty much a no brainer, but there were some factors. All of which checked out, so we are moving October 1st. But we will probably start moving stuff out next week. And the neighbors are pretty cool. It is is my cousin. Lol. She will have to cook and clean for us now. Lol. And her son is now babysitting. We have it made:)

Hi all - I am not much of a poster but we will be joining y'all for this cruise and are so excited! We have 3 families coming with our group and are signed up for DisTag that Karen Mouse is so awesome to coordinate.

Speaking of distag, we found some awesome items - we happened to run across a disney warehouse sale! Even DH was getting excited. What we are thinking of doing is make gift bags by cabin, with extra goodies in there for the cabins with many players. Is that going to be OK? We could not get 92 of everything ; )

Also a question for those who have made FEs, did you feel it was worth the effort to DIY? I can sew but time is a premium and some of the ones on ebay look pretty cute. I am just thinking of sketching the pattern, finding cute fabric, sewing, fixing mistakes (I am not a pro!), etc etc. Hmm...plus I want to make some door magnets, find pirate costumes for everyone, oh and we should book some excursions at some point right? Haha. So this is all fun but I also don't want to stress out too much.

Last question - anyone planning to geocache on excursions? I haven't looked into this yet but our family loves to geocache. (www.geocaching.com if you are curious.)

Hey! What's wrong with Christmasey?!?!?:goodvibes

Yep, I have to agree with everyone else. Black looks pretty good on your house.

I really like the color forest green though!

it takes me a while Steve...i'm a little slow.:rolleyes1
hey, i was tired last nite.:lmao:

Thanks Steve! I downloaded Fandango! and Countdown + after reading your list. :thumbsup2

Matthew

Excellent choices. Glad to be of service. I really liked the ability to customize pics in Countdown+

I got it! I was tempted to read my Scripture this morning from my BlackBerry, but went old school instead. I would have raised a few eyebrows.

That would have been priceless! :rotfl2:Probably you went with the better choice though.

Got my cruise packet yesterday - been reading it front to back!! We are getting really excited!!:banana:

I love the excitement that the cruise packet generates.

Wow just found the last thread already on a new one. I am amazed. Since i a new to this thread and missed the others. Going to ask if anyone has booked excursions for the islands on their own. not through disney. Have done the eastern before and looking for something different. Sorry if i a repeating something you have probably already talked about.

Hello! I had planned on doing the Pirate cruise in St Maarten, but I spent WAY too much money on my plans pre-cruise and am now thinking about spending a few hundred more post-cruise. I have to shelve that one. We'll be doing beach time.

Sweet Deal. Congrats man.

1. Nice Score on the werehouse sale! the one around us doesn't start until closer to christmas.
2. Laura thought about doing her own FE but since she procrastinated, I went ahead and bought one from the eBay lady. She was very happy to have that chore lifted from her.
3. I've never geocached, heard about it but I may wait until kids are a bit older.

About the homemade FEs.... I can vouche for that one personally - BUY THE THING!!!! The woman on ebay named Bonny does a great job and it would have been cheaper for her to have done it rather than me buying the material, trying to make it on my own and then fail miserably!! :-) I vote for buying!!:thumbsup2
I looked at ones on Ebay and didn't see any I like. She will custom make them? That might be an idea. How can I find her on Ebay?

Well - I see it's too late for me to vote - but seeing that Green is my favorite color, I would have gone with that. However, since your house is brick - I would say the black goes the best.

Make sure to share the "after" pics!!:thumbsup2

After pictures won't be ready for weeks. I'll get one posted though. ;)

Never booked an excursion on my own. We did, however, do a couple of those local island tours on St Thomas and Grand Cayman and we loved them. Also, don't be sorry for asking questions. That's what this thread is here for. Join in the fun and post more often! :flower3:

Chris - she will custom make one for you! I added a pocket to the 2 pocket one, added personalization and could choose the fabric. Here is a link to one of her auctions:

We love to geocache!! I haven't even thought of looking into it. for the cruise.. one more thing to add to my to do list for when the kids go back to school next week.

Maybe we will do some geocaching if there are some near the beach.:) I wonder if there are any on Castaway Cay!

I just wanted to add to the picture. You can't tell from the pic, but it was just the Mickey print and then we added glitter glue and puffy paint to it. The top pocket is plain and you can't see the bottom 3 well enough to see the colors. So, if you buy one, you can always jazz it up yourself. :thumbsup2 The girls had fun painting their pockets!

I have a question; hoping that you guys can help. My sister and her fiance will be sailing with us - she decided last minute to book and opted for DCL's transportation. However, we were planning on hiring a van service for all of us (it's 9 of us combined now - 3 cabins). Can she call DCL and cancel the transportation and if they can't issue a refund, perhaps transfer it to an OBC? :confused3

Fish extender question---Do y'all always get things placed in your fish extender? I made one for us last time and will probably use the same one this time around, but nothing was ever left in ours. All the DisTag gifts were in bags, left hanging on the fish. I don't know, I guess that means that if I forget it, it won't be a big deal. Ours is LSU themed, hanging in my boys' bedroom.

I guess we had more left in our FE on our first cruise as the gifts weren't as extravagent as those on the KK cruise. But....if you want one from us you better bring your FE because mine aren't hangable. :goodvibes

Good morning everyone!!!

After having such a long few days, Elaine and I are taking the day off. It will be nice to be at home too, since the kids start school on Wednesday. Tonight, they have an open house at their school where they can go and meet their teachers. We always go to that. Jay will be having Sam's "old" teacher that she had for 2nd and 3rd grade. They are both in intergrated day programs where they combine 2nd and 3rd, 4th and 5th in one class. Sam had the same teacher and was in the same class room for two years. This poor teacher will have one of my kids for four consecutive years!! :lmao: Just kidding, for some reason, they are angels at school. Go figure!

I got another app for my BlackBerry last night. It is called WDW maps. It has maps for all 4 major parks at WDW and uses your GPS to assist you find restrooms, attractions and more. You can make a wishlist and it will map it all out for you. I know my way around the parks, so it will just be a toy for me at MNSSHP.

It was a beautiful weekend here so we got a lot knocked off Tommy's to do list. We are considering selling our house and buying a patio home. The country club we belong to are having some built on the 4th hole and we thought it may be nice to not have the yard work and maintenance. It seems that Tommy has time to do things at the school but the house seems to be on the bottom of his priority list. My only reservation is how my dogs would adjust.

2. F.O. is earned when you succeed in making the first two postings on a page or (fresh one) You have to claim the FO on the second posting. no one keeps track of either game. it's all for fun.

Googley? http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=31679527&postcount=1710

FO....It's when you start a new page on a thread and then you must post the 2nd post on that same page to claim a FO.

Oooh - thanks for sharing - I will have to see if they have one for the iPhone. Sounds cool!

You're just now starting school up there?!?! Wow, our first day was July 31, and Teresa had to go on the 27th to get her classroom ready. Absolutely crazy!

Chaz - we don't start school here in central Virginia until September 8th!!!! :scared1: We have a lot of tourism sites (Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg) that employees lots of teens and they need their child labor until after labor day. Arghghg - very frustrating since we are in school until middle of June!

Hi all - I am not much of a poster but we will be joining y'all for this cruise and are so excited!

Its one bag per cabin no matter who is in there. Its totally up to you what you put inside. :thumbsup2

Good to see you on here:goodvibes

Question for the men (or the women who pack for their men:rotfl:)- how many pairs of trousers do you take for palo, palo lunch, formal and semi formal? Neil will change as soon as dinner is over, so I dont want to overpack stuff he wont have on for more than a couple of hours.:confused3 (I'd rather keep the room for my stuff!;):rotfl:)

Also, shoes - what a pain is that! - last time we took some he no longer wnated and left them at the end of the cruise. This time he wants to bring them home as he still like them:rolleyes: - they take up sooooo much space. I can get 4 pairs of mine into the space his one pair take up.

Shirts and ties - I'm taking 3 shirts and 2 ties and he can rotate and mix and match - that'll be enough right for the 4 occassions?:confused3

The rest of his clothes will be laundered at the villa so we dont need to take enough for 14 days this time.:thumbsup2

Yes, they do. Runs $.99 per map. Do a search for "Disney."

funny our boarders was out of it too. I got it at another bookstore. Perused it a couple of times. I really wanted to know if there was anything that I should do for St. Maarten that wasn't listed by Disney, but there wasn't. In fact the author state he owns a vacation home on St. Maarten and says that the traffic there is really bad with frequent slow downs. I took it as meaning "if you're doing anything on your own... make sure you allow a LOT of travel time." Point taken. I'm just going to the beach near the ship and build sand castles. Maybe window shop if the area is not too overrun with hawkers (I HATE that!)

I'll have my black dress pants (formal) and khaki dockers (semi formal, I can really dress them up!) I gunning for about 3 pairs of shorts.

For Shirts: A couple of t-shirts when I'm just goofing off. And I have a whole selection of "Hawaiian" style shirts that I plan on taking.

Shoes: Last time I packed like a girl. Too many shoes. I won't do that again. Here's what I packed last time: Black dress shoes, Brown Dress shoes (for pirate night, they helped with the costume), tennis shoes (turned out after the flight to Orlando they were way too small for me and my feet were KILLING ME! never wore them again), and sandals. This time I'm taking my Black dress shoes (I'll make them work with the Dockers) and Sandals. No brown shoes and NO tennis shoes! I'll only be packing the dress shoes (unless they take too much room then I'll wear the dress shoes on the plane and pack the sandals.)

'nuff said?

Yep, we're packing as little as possible. I'll be doing some late night laundry! I'd like to get everything into 3 peices. That will leave us a 1 peice of checked luggage buffer for bringing stuff home.

I hear the airlines have raised the luggage prices again! Delta is charging $20 for the first peice and $30 for the second. Continental (the one we're taking) is charging the same. Luckily, since my ticket was bought before the changes went into effect, I'll pay the lower amount.

For any of you that are affected by the price increases, I know that Delta is allowing passengers to pre-pay for their luggage and if pre-paid you would not be subject to the extra $5 surcharge.

My kids were in uniforms all through school. All but a few schools here are in uniform. I loves it so did the kids as they got older. I think it does make a difference. Each year in July the high scholl that the kids went to would have a uniform exchange so you could get the next size uniform shirts at a much cheaper price.

Have you been to POR before Chris? We were just there in Feb. I think you made a great choice. We went to POFQ to use their pool (POR was down for refub) and I didn't like their food court at all. Really liked it at POR.

I liked CSR too, but there's already a TON of southwestern type buildings and such where I live, that it really wasn't a big change for me. POR really makes me feel like I'm on vacation. I can't wait to try out their pool this time.

If you have any questions that aren't covered by Passporters then fire away, my memory is fresh.

We have never been to POR. A couple years ago I was researching possibly taking a WDW vacation for this year. A plan that fell through due to the cruise! :lmao: When I did my research, I really liked the look of POR. I had in my mind to try my hardest to convince Elaine that we should stay there. Her philosophy is get on property, stay in the values and spend the money saved elsewhere. After staying in the values a couple of times, I just wanted a change and I really liked POR.

When I got the fall discount codes, I was thrilled that I was able to get a room at POR for only $20 more than All Star Movies. I am hoping Elaine really likes it and that we will stay there for our next WDW vacation in a couple of years.

I have to agree with your wife to a degree. That's why I've never stayed in a deluxe. But from what I see of the pics, the Values while rich in theming are rather poor in the foliage department. the pools looked pretty open with no shade. I've always hated being out in the sun too much so that didn't appeal to me much. Room-wise I think that there's not a lot difference to compare so that's not an issue. I have hear that the values are very large and crowded. Something that I've never experienced in the Moderates. I never had a problem in either pools or food courts in the mods.

I got a great deal on our stay this time too and was almost tempted to upgrade to the Wilderness lodge just to try out a deluxe, but ultimately, better sense won out and I stayed put.

I really liked the Mansions. We rode bikes through AB and it was OK but the Mansions felt like we were staying in a mansion! Can't beat the proximity of Magnolia Bend either.

I had a door-to-door guy come to the house the other day. Usually I politely tell them not interested and close the door.

This guy rings the bell about three times in rapid succession (strike one, I know the sound of my doorbell and know when I need to answer it. Multiple rings only serve to annoy.) Then when I answer the door he has his iPod earphones in, with his back turned to me, dancing (strike two, if you aren't serious enough about whatever you are trying to sell how do you expect me to take you seriously?) Then he turns in an appearantly coreographed move and suddenly appears to notice me. Affects a german accent and launches into a "cutesy" bit about not being from America. (maybe this works to endear some weaker minded fools to him, but he was already on strike two and I was not in the mood for cute.) I cut him off and asked him what it was that brought him to my door. Again he starts into his long-version of the sales pitch. (Strike three, when asked to get to the point, one must always get to the point!) At that time I launched into him about interrupting me with my family time (I really don't get enough) and how rude it was to waste my time in such an inappropriate manner. (Angry-Steve) He couldn't gather up with assorted sales boxes fast enough. I really shook him up.

Karen,

Our first Disney cruise I took dress clothes for Tommy and that is the last time he has let me pack a suit. He will wear dockers and polo shirt most of the time. Megan and I are going to do the Palo bruch but I can not talk him into dinner. I love our table mates so we do not want to give up one night with them. :cloud9:

AWwwwwwwwwwwwww how sweet, we don't care what any one wears. Roger is a polo & docker wearer also.

I'm not bringing one. Never needed it last time. Everyone's stuff was in bags anyway and they hung on the hook.

I guess we had more left in our FE on our first cruise as the gifts weren't as extravagent as those on the KK cruise. But....if you want one from us you better bring your FE because mine aren't hangable. :goodvibes

Just when you thought you could shake me I found you. :lmao::rotfl2::lmao: Wow you all did some chatting over the weekend!

Well I just spent some time catching up from back on page 3! Didn't even try to go back to previous thread. Captured some quotes to respond to.

I like the black Nancy :thumbsup2

Yes, I'm thinking the green shutters looked better in my head than they do on the house.:lmao: When I put them up this morning, I liked the black much better myself. Thanks kids!! Black it is!!! :woohoo:

Off to the paint store. :cutie:

When I captured this quote I was going to vote for black. By the time I finished reading I saw that most everyone agreed & you're going with black! Good choice!

Hi all,

Not much going on here today.

Went to see time travelers wife last night, good movie book was better!!

A friend of mine saw it & told me not to waste my money! Each to his own I guess.

You're just now starting school up there?!?! Wow, our first day was July 31, and Teresa had to go on the 27th to get her classroom ready. Absolutely crazy!

Boy, our summer was barely started by July 31st. School started here today ( some around the area later this week). Usually it's after Labor Day but since it's so late this year it started earlier. And wouldn't you know - this week looks like the best stretch of sunny weather since last spring!!

Just when you thought you could shake me I found you. :lmao::rotfl2::lmao: Wow you all did some chatting over the weekend! That sounds like a great idea! I'd like to do the same thing but we're really tied because of the housing market coupled with the closure of the Navy base here. Houses aren't worth very much right now. Maybe in a few more years.

Dan is debating between suit or sport coat/pants, but he can't bring both. I'm trying to bring mix and match outfits becasue like you say, we'll only wear it for a couple hours. I figure one could wear Sunday's outfit again on Friday if necessary!

All the time and not just in movies. I can bearly remember what my name is most of the time. :lmao:

I think it's Leisha isn't it?!!!!

AWwwwwwwwwwwwww how sweet, we don't care what any one wears. Roger is a polo & docker wearer also.

I'm going with the same stuff I wore on our 3 previous cruises. We'll all be neat and clean I'm sure!

Have a good night all!

Unfortunately, I'm not holding my breath for an upgrade. I'm once again in process of changing things up with my reservation. I want to cancel the DCL transport. (it bums me out to be arriving at 1 or 2 pm!) and instead may take a FL Tours towncar. Same price so I can get to the port earlier. and Maybe. Maybe just snag an upgrade in port. I figure that with all of those Cat 4's avail there is probably a bunch fo Cat 3's avail too. So if the Cat 5's or 6's move up then I might snag a cheap cat 6 upgrade. Or, (here's a big hope against all odds) maybe I might get a cat 3 at a much cheaper price than I could ever book it. Anyway, I have an email out to DU to see if I can cancel the DCL transfers.

That's what's being reported on the main cruise boards. the calculation is something like $50/day/cabin type. So Cat 9 to Cat 6 should be $350 and add another $350 for a suite. Not bad. I'd go as high as $1000 for a Cat 3. But I'd have to draw the line there. But if some cat 5 or 6 snags it then I'd like to be there to get their cabin for a song!

I'm willing to bet that the insides have a really good chance for a free upgrade. Oceanviews are the ones who are less likely for a free upgrade due to the dearth of cat 5's and 6's available.

Dave is excited about it - but I'm wondering what that will do to the Marvel related attractions at Universal!!

Disney won't rock the boat with pre-existing contracts. My guess is that those will continue on until the contract end and then I suppose that Universal will be wooing DC comics!

I'd not upgrade from 6 to 4 at all. The small gain in space is not enough to justify the $$ unless you need to shoe-horn another person in your cabin. And then I would book two connecting 9's for the same price as the single 4 cabin and have LOADS more space.

We loved the mansions. We stayed in the building called Magnolia Terrace. It was very close to the bus stop, main pool and the quiet pool. I think it was the best building in the whole resort... :thumbsup2

We loved POR and would return in a heart beat. That being said we are doing POP this time around because our 5 year old fell in love with the bowling pin pool. :confused3 He couldn't be convinced that a water slide etc.. would be better. There's no accounting for some tastes!

Do you prefer the Mansions or Alligator Bayou?

And your girls are such sweeties!!!

Thanks! Your girls as well. It was fun meeting you all:goodvibes

Good to hear that Chris - I will have to tell the teachers next week and I hope they have the same reaction (or maybe I'll let them get to know the girls and they will be very happy to have them be out of their classrooms for a week! :rotfl2:)

I'm hoping my girls' teachers will be that understanding, too. Of course, it will be harder for Megan with middle school, but I'm sure she will be able to catch up!

Guess what your are getting in your Fish Extender....... (I may just "regift" the abominible FE!!)

That's right, Angie! It's good that you're jumping in and "giving back"!:lmao:

I know!! Once you meet Dave, you will see why I'm can handle the teasing!! We have a great sense of humor. (Or as Becca likes to say "We have a SILLY family!")

We have one of those families, as well. That's what I say has kept us together so long.... no one else would put up with us!;)

Dave is excited about it - but I'm wondering what that will do to the Marvel related attractions at Universal!!

I had that thought myself. I'm not really sure I see the "fit" with Disney. But then again, I wasn't sure about the Muppets coming in, either.

I'm willing to bet that the insides have a really good chance for a free upgrade. Oceanviews are the ones who are less likely for a free upgrade due to the dearth of cat 5's and 6's available.

I'd not upgrade from 6 to 4 at all. The small gain in space is not enough to justify the $$ unless you need to shoe-horn another person in your cabin. And then I would book two connecting 9's for the same price as the single 4 cabin and have LOADS more space.

Sweet Dreams!

I'm a verandah girl myself. I insisted on the verandah for the Med cruise and now I'm spoiled. We actually booked the same cabin we had for that one. It has a great location and I love having the verandah. Sarah and I ate breakfast on it our first morning of that cruise. She loved it!

Formal night - are everyones kids wearing ties, suits etc? Just tried Ellis' suit on - too short in the arms:rolleyes:.... I feel another shopping trip coming on.:rolleyes1

I might just get him a nice shirt and tie and black trousers? - it'll save space in case and he'll never wear the suit again anyway.

I keep gl;ancing over at the 3/4 packed case without a single item of clothing or shoes in it and I'm panicking! All thats in there is toiletries, books to read etc, beach toys etc and tag stuff!

The shoes will fill that case, which leaves two cases for 3 peoples clothes inc formal:eek: - I wll also take a rolling cooler to fill with wine for onboard:rolleyes1

I keep telling Sean one of the first things I am buying after my surgery is a Man U t shirt. Unfortunately they don't sell them in pooh girl sizes, only in posh spice sizes. Sean said no wife of mine is going to wear a Man U shirt, this is an Arsenal house. I told him that I will miss him.....

I'm not sure if the themes for Topsiders are consistent, but you could look at the Navigators on the Castaway Club website (sorry, can't post the link. It will be "***" out).

Kids can order off the Adult menu. DS has been doing that since cruise #1 (when he was 4). He will only order of the kids menu maybe once during the cruise.

I want to say the wine corkage fee is $15, but not sure. I'm sure the answer is in the FAQ post on the main cruise threads page.

I'm sure they have a tea party going on, but again, I'd look at the most recent Navagators to see for sure.

Entertainment changes often. Even if listed in the current Navagator, it could be different by the time we sail.

They usually have an ornament for each year, so you should be able to get another one specific for this cruise.

I thought Deck 4 was a 1/4 mile, but I know the answer is in the FAQ post.

Hope that helped.

I get excited about the fact we may get a "free" upgrade, but I don't think I will want to pay for an upgrade (unless they want to upgrade me to a Category 2 for $5!!:rotfl2:)

Since this is our first cruise, I won't know the difference between a 6 and a 4 (we are booked in a 6 now.

I'll cross my fingers for all of you to get upgrades!!

Not worth a penny to upgrade to a 4. They are virtually the same with the 4 having maybe 4 extra feet for a ull down bed. You will never miss that space, even if you had already stayed in a 4.
