My husband and I are taking a red-eye flight to WDW. We'll probably be at the resort (ASMo) at 9am. If our room isn't ready could they hold our bags while we go and have fun. We've done this at other hotels, and I want to make sure this would work here too.

Yes you can do that. They are very good about it.

This is not a problem. I would suggest mentioning coming in on the red-eye with your room request. You may get lucky and be able to check in early. Although the "official" check-in time is not until 3pm, I have been able to get in to a room as early as 10 or 11am. Not always, mind you, but several times. Once you check-in, no matter what time it is, you are able to use that resorts facilities, as well as go to the parks. If your room is not ready, they will give you a number to call to check in during the day to see if it is ready.

here's a related tipping question--do you tip the guy when he takes the bags into storage, AND tip the guy who brings them when the room is ready?

I always tip both. When we stay at BWV, the valet takes the luggage out of the car and then parks the car, so I tip him. When we stayed at CBR, we were in a Town Car and the guy who took the luggage out of the car refused the tip (only time that happened), he said to give it to the bellman who brings it to the room. They've always accepted the tips at deluxe resorts, they even usually make the comment "I will not be the one bringing the bags to the room", i.e. tip me now.

When we were at the Poly this summer, we tipped both. Like DebbieB, the guy that took the bags from the car (to put in storage...room wasn't ready) also made it clear that he would not be the one taking the bags to the room.
