Just wondering-anyone else's home resort not their favorite?

When we bought in January, we bought at VWL-I took the tour solo and then came home and convinced DH. Now that we've been once, I should have known that the golf addict would love OKW (well, the fact that we had such problems at VWL influenced us also). It's hard for me-anywhere is my favorite as long as I'm in WDW! But I was wondering, has anyone else got a favorite DVC resort other than their home resort? Sometimes I really wish we'd bought at OKW instead-it is so peaceful and more suited to our vacations.

Sorry, but we just love our home resort the best and so do our children--OKW---members since 95. Don't get me wrong, the others are also beautiful, but OKW just suits us perfectly. We are from NJ and we need to vacation in a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere and that is certainly the ambience of OKW. We used to stay at the Poly before we bought DVC, and I do miss it, but the thought of staying in a hotel room vs. DVC just doesn't work for us anymore.:Pinkbounc

Yes - while I like OKW (home) for the quiet atmosphere - and DH loves it for the golf, I would prefer the BWV anyday. Just for the convience of walking to EPCOT/MGM and the pools. We recently added BCV points to our OKW points.

We bought our first points at OKW, then added on at VWL and BCV. We love OKW, but also wanted to be able to get the 11 month advantage at VWL and BCV.

First I read your post on bad 1st experience at VWL - and I am so sorry for your experience. As for the question at hand - We bought into DVC/VWL sight unseen and our 1st DVC vaca is coming up this month at VB. Can't imagine having a favorite - anyplace in WDW - being part of the MAGIC as only WDW can do is fine with me! We hope to stay at all the DVC resorts and some of the DC resorts like AKL, Cont, GF, POLY to name a few. I hope your next DVC vacation is blissfully uneventful and filled with only magical moments

We bought at OKW when it was the only DVC choice. Everty time a new WDW DVC resort has opened, I wonder if I would have preferred to buy or add on there. I think we would have chosen OKW, though, ever if there were other choices. DH, not as much of a WDW fanatic as DS and I are, LOVES OKW. He likes the quiet and often stays at home when DS and I go to the parks. The convenience of parking is great since we always rent a car.
Bottom line is that we have no regrets. I suggested that we try one of the other DVC resorts for our trip in three weeks, but DH and DS both vetoed that idea...

When I became a member in November, 1993 OKW was the only choice. When BWV became available, it became my favorite because of the location. BCV might become my favorite once I stay there.

I'm right there with you...I bought resale (surprise, surprise) when the HH annual dues were lower than OKW. Believe it or not, I've never been to HH. I'm originally from SC and haven't had a good reason to go there because Mom and Dad are inland. If I enter the state - I must visit them!

OKW is my favorite property, and now has the lowest dues. If I had it to do over, that would be my choice. I will add that I have always gotten my reservations last minute within the 7 month window without any problems, contrary to what most on the boards will tell you. I even booked a 2 bedroom at OKW for the 4th of July week last year....three weeks out. I was shocked!

Anyway, you should be able to experience all the resorts with no problems...you've got 40 years to see them all!

We toured OKW and BWV when we bought in 2/98. We chose OKW as it suited our lifestyle. We have children and grandchildren and some of them prefer BWV. Fortunately we have been able to make ressies at BWV with the 7 month window and DW and I are staying at BCV in November to be close to the W and F Festival.
We would still choose OKW. We also bought points at HH.
It is all a matter of what is important to you personally. It's great to now have 4 options at DW.

We have two favorites. VWL where we own points, and OKW where we are waiting for the right resale to come along.

We joined at BWV and have completed add-ons at VWL and BCV. Each resort has its own personality, amenities and location advantages. Will probably do at least one more add-on at BCV.

our favorite hands down is BWV...but we own at VWL. This is also a wonderful place, but being able to be in the center of it all makes BWV our favorite....however we are staying at BCV in a two bedroom in august, and that may become the favorite...we shall see!!!!:p :jester: :p

Just love my OKW! Sorry you had a bad experience at VWL. I have a close friend who owns at VWL and just loves it. Hope you, too, will soon love your VWL!

We love both of our "homes", OKW and VWL. We prefer having a more serene atmosphere when we vacation.

We are owners at both Vero and OKW. If I had to do it over, I would have bought my original purchase at OKW since we now vacation there the most. However, we have never had any problems obtaining reservations at OKW even at 4-6 weeks prior to check-in. dh and I like the spaciousness of the studios at OKW plus the overall atmosphere of the resort. I just booked a studio there last week for October:bounce: :bounce:

We are still new members and will not use our 1st pts. until we go in Dec. to our home resort at WLV. What I think is so cool is we all have the option to try any of the places named and have the chance to decide which we like best and even better is knowing that the future holds even more choices for us!

Our home resort is BWV and our next trip was going to be including BWV in a standard 2 bedroom, but we had to make changes. SO now the two of us will be able to visit all the other DVC resorts that we haven't visited yet. We love BWV and are kind of sad that we won't be there this summer. But being at the BCV will hopefully give our BW fix. We will be visiting VB for the first time and then we will have been at all the FLA DVC(s)! We are so glad the choices are there for us to make. The way I look at it is that with each new resort are options grow and each stay has a different feel in that Disney way. When WLV announced it was opening I had a little angst because I love the WL! We ended up adding on to BWV instead and I'm glad that we did. We've had great vacations since we joined in 1998.

I am and have always been thrilled with my DVC home at BWV but when WLV opened I was tempted to add on points because I love this resort and the location but I waited too long and missed the opportunity, now that BCV is selling, again the temptation to add on at this great resort is nagging at me! :D

We love our second home -- OKW. When we feel like staying near the Epcot/MGM area, we've gone to BWV, but we always miss the serenity and color scheme of OKW. Soooooo, we are going to the new BCV this month and are eager to see if it has the combination of a laid-back, quiet, pastel-colored resort and the convenient location of BWV. If so, we may indeed have a new favorite!

Our 2 home resorts are Hilton Head and Boardwalk. But, I must say that VWL is our absolute favorite! I love our home resorts too, just something a bit more special about VWL. Probably because it's so close to MK.

We've been members since '92 and still can't bring ourselves to stay at the other resorts. Now that both we and the kids are older there's very little "urgency" about getting to the parks and so the tranquility of OKW suits us fine. Every time we consider trying one of the other resorts, we think about the higher points requirement for smaller sized units and just think, "Naaaahh, not this year!" I still think it's one of the smartest things we ever did and a great value no matter where your home resort is.

We bought DVC in March. I was a little disappointed that only BCV was available. I am a BIG WL fan.

But after using our free stay at YC, I am so glad we are BCV!!! I LOVED YC!

We purchased OKW in 1999, after we were there in 98 when my sister had the family down in a GV. We added on once at OKW after we seen how much we enjoyed it there. This Jan we bought at VB to get the 11 month window there for the winter months. Then after going down there for the first time last week, and seeing how beautiful the resort is, we added more pts there.
We went to HH last summer, and it is a very nice resort also.
But for us we are very satisfied with our 2 home resorts(OKW-VB)
and wouldn't change anything:D .
We also plan to stay at the BWV's and BCV's in the future.Now there are 4 members in our family that are DVC members. That makes it very easy for us to combine pts and get the GV's and Beach Cottages when we get togehter every year or every other year.

Our first trip on DVC points was to our home at BWV and we haven't been back there since. We just love VWL too much. We're going to try the BCV this year, but I know we'll miss being at VWL. We did add on a few points there, but our main contract is still BWV.

I can't see us staying at BWV or OKW unless we can't get in anywhere else.

Our home resort is OKW, which we love. Have stayed in BWV, which we also like due to the location, but we have no regrets about OKW being "home". DH just mentioned that he is thinking of buying more points at BCV:bounce: :Pinkbounc !!!!! This would make me oh so happy!!!!!

OK, our home resort is BWV, but if someone said you had to pick one and only one DVC resort for all future visits it would be OKW. Don't get me wrong, I like BWV and I'm glad I purchased there. But I also love OKW for the size of the units and the quiet/laid back atmosphere. Having BWV as home let's me get the 11 month window when needed and when not I've never had a problem getting in at OKW all the way down to the 3 month mark vs. being on a waitlist at BWV with less then 98 days to go before next visit. I think I have the best of both worlds!

We bought into OKW in 1997 and it suits us perfect. We like the condo feeling better than the hotel feeling. I guess we just like the laid back atmosphere. That ia probably why we also own at HH. It is so nice to know that there are the other options also.

WE love OKW and wouldn't trade it for the world! Just to show you how easy it is to book... Several of us did a 5 night ressie in a 2 bedroom for a dying young lady and her family. We were able to book the trip for July 21-26, and just did it last week!!

We own at OKW since Oct of 2000 and have tried Vero and Hilton Head as well. Except for the "no-see um" bugs at Vero they are all great! Even the little bug bites at Vero wouldn't stop me from returning there. At the rate Disney is building we may try quite a few places before returning home to OKW.

I am a VWL owner, but I really love the Boarwalk area more. The 7 month window has never stopped me from staying where I wanted to, so I do not subscribe to the buy only where you will stay theory. Then again, I vacation in the off-seasons to avoid heat, crowds, high points, etc.... So of course I noramally get my choice of property.;)

We own at VWL and love being close to MK because our son is at that age. If it was just my wife an I, it would be BWV- we love the nightlife and action. That's what is so awesome about this club- you're never stuck in the same place!!!! OPTIONS, OPTIONS, OPTIONS!!!
