This is the DH using my wife's account...

We are going to the VWL (Villas at the Wilderness Lodge did I get that right) at the end of August throught the begining of September. During the Holiday weekend I am reluctant to go to the park. We will have plenty of time for that the week before.

What are your favorite VWL activities?

They have two free lodge tours that you can go on, you can search for the "hidden Mickey's", rent watercraft/bikes, get a spa treatment at the health club, or just hang out at the pool.:)

I don't know if you have children. Ft. Wilderness is a leisurely stroll away and they have a petting farm.

BTW, Labor Day weekend wasn't bad the time that we were at WDW. A lot of schools are back in session.

VWL has PLENTY of activities for you!! We like the VWL pool & we always get a surrey bike & ride over to Fort Wilderness. We have two young children, but since it's just you & your wife you could get two regular bikes.

VWL has a program, for 4 hours (The Captains plan I think?) you can ride bikes for rent boats (even pontoon or sprites)... that plan costs 119.00 I think, if you want unlimited bike riding & boating, you can get that plan for 199.00 total... That's an awesome deal and an IDEAL location.

Other than that, definitely check out the mini-golf activities & stuff like that, our family did this very same non-park vacation last Labor Day weekend, we had an awful lot of fun...
