I've been trying to make reservations for Home-away-from-home resorts for Dec 7-15/02. So far, the only availability is for Old Key West. We'd like try the new Beach Club villas, or Boardwalk but they say they are sold out. Does this make sense? The first 2 weeks in December are historically not busy. Is there a new policy for DVC resorts? We've booked many times at the Boardwalk more than 5 months in advance. Any info or advice?
Thank you much!

Are you looking for the last half of December? If so then I'm not surprised... it's a very busy time because kids are out of school. Maybe try early December or January. ;) Basically, anytime school is in session is easier.

It's also because the # of rooms available is related to the # of DVC they sold in DVC. As more are sold more will become available.

I was at first wait listed in July, and I got call back within a week. Just wait and they'll be there for you.

hi: only a small percentage (about 4%) of the inventory is available to the cro. the remaining 96% of the declared inventory is allocated to the dvc owners. as more of the units are sold and declared into inventory, more will be available for cash ressies. also, more units will become available the last 60 days prior to your stay.

Since it is a DVC property most of the rooms are dedicated to the owners and the since the points needed to stay there in Dec. are low it is a busy time for DVC resorts.
You can try renting points from a member. It is cheaper than going through CRO and the members make the ressie so you have a good chance of getting a room. If one is not available you will be put on a waitlist which I had good luck with for this Nov. :D

The DVC member meetings fall in the first two weeks of December, so the DVC resorts get filled up quickly for those times. OKW usually has the most inventory available at the latest dates.

Even if you try renting points, you still may not be able to get in. However, someone may rent you their reservation.

Even members need to make reservations at the 11 month mark to get into Boardwalk the first 2 weeks of December, especially standard view. I own at BWV and called day by day in January for my Dec 7 to 13 standard view 1 bedroom. The main reason is the low points plus the proximity to Epcot for the Christmas activities. I went to the member meeting in 2000, there wasn't more than 50 or 75 members there, some were locals, so I don't think it has a big effect.
