Just wondering if you can get a salad before dinner, instead of dessert on the DDP? If it is around the same price, I was wondering if you could do that. Anybody know?

No substituting appetizers for dessert and I think a salad would fall in that category.

True. But you can buy the salad if you wish. :thumbsup2 Disney economics at work here.

My opinion is that Disney knows many people would prefer the apps to desserts... so they give you the dessert on DDP knowing you will pay for the appetizer :lmao:

1) NO.
2) Desserts are less costly than appetizers.
3) By far.
. . . less manpower
. . . most desserts are purchased and are cheaper than appy's
. . . desserts can be kept for days, where appy's cannot
. . . they take up less room to store, and most are frozen
4) That is why you get a dessert and not an appy.

We are trying out the deluxe dining plan that includes appetizers. Looking at the menus, some appetizers can get very expensive.

Given we usually do table service and order an appetizer, it works out cheaper for us to be on the deluxe. Plus I like the idea of ordering appetizers to share with picky toddler who may be bored with the child menus. And DW and I can swap food and try different things.

I've seen reports that some QS locations do allow this (or a bottle of water in place of dessert). But never TS.
