Well done, Nat. It must be unbelievably stressful! What kind of areas are you measured on?
we are inspected on the following areas...
How effective is the provision in meeting the needs of children in the Early Years Foundation Stage?
How well does the provision promote inclusive practice?
The capacity of the provision to maintain continuous improvement.
Leadership and management
How effectively is provision in the Early Years Foundation Stage led and managed?
How effective is the setting’s self-evaluation, including the steps taken to promote improvement?
How well does the setting work in partnership with parents and others?
How well are children safeguarded?
Quality and standards
How effectively are children in the Early Years Foundation Stage helped to learn and develop?
How effectively is the welfare of children in the Early Years Foundation Stage promoted?
How well are children helped to stay safe?
How well are children helped to be healthy?
How well are children helped to enjoy and achieve?
How well are children helped to make a positive contribution?
How well are children helped develop skills that will contribute to their future economic well-being?
So not much really :rotfl2:

Can't believe I missed this until now Natalie. Sorry:sad2:
Well done, I know a few childminders and I know how different each individual childminder is. Some "rise" to the occasion of an inspection others are consistently good with the children all the time, I'm sure with that outcome, you are the latter.
Well Done Natalie :thumbsup2

Joanne, its actually more difficult to "rise" to the occasion at inspection now, the individual learning journeys compiled for each child are designed to show what and how they are learning and must show evidence in six different areas of learning, most of the inspection is now evidence based so you cannot just talk the talk. ive been working on this new format since last september so the inspection was based on my evidence from that point. Some of your friends are going to come unstuck if they think they can still get away with the old method of inspection.

I totally agree Nat, I know for a fact they haven't been inspected for some time and would really struggle to get graded "good". Not for one minute would I leave my girls with one partiular childminder I know :guilty: :sad2:
I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's not a job I think I could do.
I was recently in a situation where a neighbour asked me to have her son for 9hrs every friday whilst she worked from home. TBH, no matter how flattered I was, for many reasons I didn't contemplate it for one minute. For a start I don't think it's right to have a regular "casual" agreement like that.
Knowing how they treat their "Nanny" I felt they might take advantage of me (with their other children, one of whom is in Anna's class) and TBH I felt they were looking for cheap convenient childcare and that is just not on.
I've managed to get my two girls to 6 and 4 without major incident or injury, knowing my luck he would have had an accident and all hell would have broken loose.....

;) thats what frustrates me about casual childcare, i have to jump through hoops and have insurence etc.....they usually get away with it as well !!
