View Full Version : What happened to Mulan doll? just a random thought.
Ok so yesterday I was at work (target) and we have started to get our holiday toys in (slowly) every holiday season we get a set of the Disney Princess dolls, (an only at target thing according to the box) useually the set includes: Snowwhite, Sleeping beauty, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, and Ariel. This year I was working in the Princess isle and noticed that the set now includes Tianna which I thought was nice, but then upon closer inspection I realized Mulan was missing. This made me sad I always liked the Mulan doll because she actually looked chinese. I think they would have been better off not switching them out and just including both and maybe raiseing the price of the set a few dollars. Now anyone who wants all the princess'es has to buy the set and mulan. :confused3 anyway thats just my random thought.

We have this set from last year, so I know which one you are talking about, I was able to get it at 75% off and I was so excited. The set from last year was missing Pocahontas so we picked her up at the Disney Store. I thought it was kind of strange at the time that she was the only one missing, even if she may not be as popular as some of the others.

Well, Mulan really isn't a princess. She's just a female heroine. Her family wasn't royal & neither was her husband Shang. Sometimes they stick Mulan w/ the Princesses like in pics & books, but I can see why they normally don't have her around, it's bc she's not a princess. I'm not hatin' or anything, she's totally representing my heritage, but in reality, she's not a royal like the other girls.

Yeah I always thought that too, Ive just gotten used to seeing her there.
I also notice Pocahontas absences as well I guess it could all be chalked up to how big do they really want the set to be. I think they should have a set with all of them in it.

Me too. I don't know why they called her a princess. They could have a set of "Disney Girls" and put in all the characters who are not princesses. Then you could put in Alice too.
I'm also confused about the new movie. They are calling her a princess but I had thought it took place in New Orleans. But since I haven't seen the movie, I'll have to wait and see how she is one. Looking forward to it, btw. Hope it's good! :lovestruc

Disney made mulan an honorary princess because of her popularity and ethnicity to add a diverse groups of princess's ? Also she was made an honorary princess at the end of the movie.
