Mr & Mrs - UPDATE: Sneak Peak

Hi everyone :wave2: Hope its ok to do a trip report from over a year ago :confused3 There's a very slim chance that we might get to go disney again this year and it's stirred up lots of disney emotions!! So I thought the best thing to do was finally write up a trip report based on our trip of a life time :cloud9: So I hope you guys dont mind me babbling away on here?? :hippie:

Well, our posse was just ... drum roll please ... 2 of us, the Bride and Groom. Our first trip to the world was in September 2005 where we got engaged :love: We had an amazing trip and getting proposed to at the end of was the cherry on the top! :cutie: If anyone wants to here all about that trip & the proposal just let me know :thumbsup2 Didn't want to scare you all off with my first post :littleangel:

After 3 years and MANY MANY MANY conversations & plans & tears we finally decided - a Disney Wedding it was :woohoo: As soon as we made that decision, our faces quickly turned from this :banana: to this :scared1: - How on earth our we going to manage this from the otherside of the pond!! And how many millions of hours am I going to spend planning?! Yep, you guessed it - nearly every waking hour of 2008 was spent discussing disney :yay:

All the disney staff we encountered during planning were AMAZING. We also used outside vendors for certain things, which I'll natter about later - but they were truly AMAZING too!!!

I'll give you a little sneak peek bit of info about the trip and then I'll start the report!

We stayed at these resorts :
Hard Rock Hotel - Think it was classed as a Deluxe room or Queen suite, can't remember properly. (Great place!)
Wilderness Lodge Villas - 1 bedroom villa (Absolutely LOVED!)
Boardwalk - Deluxe concierge room (Would not stay again :sad1:)

The wedding info :
Ceremony at the wedding pavillion, cake with Stitch, Dinner on the Grand 1 Yacht and an Illuminations Dessert Party in Japan

Thankyou :hug: Don't worry - there are LOTS of photos on the way and some super cute Stitch one's :thumbsup2 I'm obsessed with Stitch :laughing: So having him at our wedding was so much fun!!

The Boardwalk itself was beautiful, but we had lots of problems with our room and a beautiful suprise went totally wrong due to a member staff - in theory it was probably just a mix up but it still upset us. I'll go in to more detail later. Other people love the resort and I can see why, those were the reasons we booked - but because it now holds some not so good memories for us I don't really want to go back again.

THE DAY BEFORE :-

I'll start us off with the day before we fly. This was one of the craziest days of my life :laughing: I have never been so excited, nervous, tired, stressed, giddy and busy in my whole life! Our wedding day was soooo easy compared to this!! :laughing: We woke up early as we knew we had LOTS to do, this is how we looked at the start of the day ...

and this was me nearly 24 hours later! Yep, you guessed it - we didnt go to bed that night, we were up all day and night and were then faced with a 9and half hour flight :scared1:

Mum got straight to the craft stuff and started revamping my horseshoe - Dad wanted to help and started sorting out my table confetti as I only wanted certain colours. (Yep, we all have those crazy Bridezilla moments!!)

When we stopped to have something to eat Den gave me the cutest thing ever!! I'm obsessed with Stitch and love anything to do with him, I also collect snowglobes and love Halloween - so this just had me stunned for a while :love:

We'd all been up all day and night and finally everything was done and packed, leaving us no time for bed - so we just sat down with a cuppa & biscuits and then went and got showered and changed before the taxi arrived to pick us up.

DAY 1

The taxi arrived, we stocked it up with all our bags, said goodbye to our furbaby :sad1: and off we went!!

We got to the airport, the queue was fine and we started checking in - then came the conversation I had been dreading for months 'Can I take my dress as hand luggage' the lady then started basically trying to tell me 'no' - my whole body started shaking and the look on my face obviously gave her the basic reply of 'well you'll have to put me in the hold with the dress *** I'm not being seperated from it!' so she then phoned a manager who said it was fine :yay: We then toddled off and went through all the usual security saga and sat by the gate. The plane was on time and we boarded with no problems - a nice attendant put my dress in one of the cupboards at the back and Den went and checked on it a couple of times, bless him :love:

Den was very impressed with the free drink when we first boarded, whereas I was more impressed with the ice cream :laughing:

Just incase anyone wants any reviews or anything we flew with Virgin Atlantic from Manchester to Orlando and our rental car was booked through a website uscarhire.co.uk and we used Dollar - no problems at all with anything :goodvibes

We then had an uneventful drive to Universals Hard Rock hotel. We stayed there on our last trip but nothing could have prepared us for this room - it was gorgeous and HUGE!!!

I was married at the Poly back in 2001 ! I loved it! I hope to go back for our 10 year anniversary to re-new our vows!

DAY 2

We woke up quite early and decided that we would spend all day at Universal Studios. We got ready, jumped on the boat and headed to the park.

It was soooo warm and humid this day and I dont do very well in that weather - whereas my other half loves it! We got through the gates and decided a breakfast / snack was needed - strawberry cheesecake & coke, what a combination :laughing: That's when we knew we were back in Orlando! :wizard:

We then decided that today we were gonna hit some of the rides that we havent done before. So we did - Jaws, Disaster, Animal Actors & The Simpsons. Oh my god, the simpsons was brilliant!! I am scared of heights and all things rollercoaster-ish so we only tend to go on the 'chilled out' rides. I loved the simpsons ride - it was like it was made me for, a rollercoaster but you dont go anywhere!! YAY! :laughing: If you have not been on this ride, I have one thing to say - GET ON IT !! The animal actors was soooo cute, we both love animals so we were ooooing and aaahhhing at everything. After doing these few rides and lots of shops we were starting to get hungry, hot & tired (remember how long we'd been awake the days before!) So, we decided to go to our fave lunch place 'Finnegans' We scoffed down some great fish n chips and then washed it down with lots of cocktails whilst a guy was entertaining everyone singing. We love that place :thumbsup2

We then decided to go back to CityWalk and hit the shops there and then go on a booze cruise - or should I call it a cocktail cruise, yes - we admit, we are cocktail addicts! :hippie:

I'm not a HUGE cocktail fan, but since I've been pregnant I've been craving it like crazy. I can't wait to drink some yummy foo-foo drinks in March. :)

I think the reason I like cocktails so much is because they dont often taste of alcohol due to all the fruity taste to them - I like alcohol that doesnt taste of alcohol :laughing:

DAY 3

We decided to spoil ourselves this morning and had breakfast in the room. Oh.My.God. it was YUMMY!

Then some pixie dust came my way - in the form of a sweet smelling present from my soon to be hubby. They were sooo beautiful and smelt lovely!! :love:

We finished off our brekkie and then it was time to start the hitlist for the day. We drove to Francks which is next to the disney wedding pavillion - we had to drop all our wedding 'bits' off there so that the disney staff had them ready for the big day :thumbsup2 We parked in the car park and got our stuff out of the car, then we started walking towards the pavillion and I was stunned and just filled up with tears & emotions - this was the first time we had seen that area, other than in photos. It is STUNNING!! It truly took my breath away!!

Den snapped a quick photo while I was sorting out all the items. It was lovely in there - we got to see all the gorgeous items that the disney team had on display.

We got everything sorted and then it was time to head to the court house to get ourselves a wedding licence!! We loved driving over there and seeing more of 'real florida' - I loved all the houses, especially the big ones with the gorgeous porches where you can sit outside, felt like I was in the movies :laughing: We then reached the court house, and the nerves kicked in!!!

Everything went straight forward once we were inside and I loved queing up with the other couples - you could feel everyones excitement, a really cute experience!! So, we toddled back outside and had a YAY moment :woohoo:

We then had a crazy rush back to the Hard Rock as Ana and Lily from Beaute Speciale were coming to do a hair & make-up trail for me and Den's tux fitting was being done.

Carolyn Allens were AMAZING!! The tux was perfect and their service was 100% spot on! I'd recommend them to anyone! And the girls from Beaute Speciale - cant praise them enough - wonderful, funny, amazing!! I felt like a true princess after they'd finished with me!!! And they really put me at ease, I was sooo nervous about it all, they were great and so funny - had me and den laughing our heads off all afternoon!! My hair & make-up stayed put forever, even with the september heat & humidity and even a downpour!! Those girls know how to do it!! Wish I could keep them in my handbag :laughing:

Love, Love, Love the hair! My hair is so thin it would never hold up! When I got my hair done for the wedding they put 100 pins in my hair, ((I SWEAR))

It wasn't very romantic at the end of the night when my husband and I were in our hotel room on our wedding night pulling pins out of my hair for an hour. :lmao:

Love, Love, Love the hair! My hair is so thin it would never hold up! When I got my hair done for the wedding they put 100 pins in my hair, ((I SWEAR))

It wasn't very romantic at the end of the night when my husband and I were in our hotel room on our wedding night pulling pins out of my hair for an hour. :lmao:

Joanne, to be safe pack a little of everything.......some years it has been T-shirt and shorts 80 + degrees (during the day) and turning a bit chilly in the evenings needing a sweatshirt, some people wore light gloves, hat :santa:, scarves, and a light jacket.
One year it dropped down in the 40s brrrrrr for Fantismic......when they lit the fire on the lagoon the crowd cheered! :laughing:
On the whole the weather is fantastic!! and coming from the UK the Florida cold may not feel cold to you. :wizard: Just a bit chilly.
Pack some ponchos just in case....... Dec is Florida's dry season.

I wish you had some more wedding pics!!!! LOL maybe it's just be but sometimes I think about just getting back in my dress with my head piece and veil and just pretending for a little while. :rotfl:

DAY 4

This was a day full of shopping! We shopped and shopped and shopped all our way up and down I-drive :woohoo: I dont have too many photos, but will post the few I do have :hippie:

Then we hit a shop that has now become one of my MUST DO's in Orlando - Pet Smart!! You need to know that I looooove our furbaby lots n lots, and love to spoil him. So when I walked in Pet Smart, I was in heaven - the same happens when I walk in to any disney shop too - so you have been warned.

We checked-in and our room wasnt ready, no suprise there as it was only 11am :laughing: So unfortunately for my Dennis I decided the best thing to do would be hit the gift shop mwahaha :woohoo: We emerged about an hour later with lots of bags and less dollars than we started with - RESULT!! :yay: Our room still wasnt ready so we went to Roaring Forks and had a drink and shared a bag of chips popcorn:: We then went and sat in the lobby and decided to pass the time by taking some photos, which we were rubbish at because we both had new cameras that we hadnt got the hang of yet!!

Thanks :hug: I'll be doing a mock/practice test every week to get me ready for the 'proper' one - hopefully i'll be able to book it for October but I have to pass my theory one first. Not sure if you guys over there have the same system as us? We have our lessons and then if the instructor thinks we are ready we then have to do a Theory Test, then a Hazard Perception Test and then the actual Practical Driving Test :eek: Do you have something called Drivers Ed? :confused3 Or is that just in the movies :laughing:

Thanks, I must have ate something that did it :(. Or maybe its because I miss Disney World so much lol. Anyway, yea we do have drivers ed. I never taken it....all I did was take the pre-test which tells you questions on the computer like how far do you have to be from the car in front of you (hey almost sounds like Tomorrowland Speedway warning lol) what signs mean. Then I took the driving test and passed. I was sooo nervous. But all the practice and hard work my mom did for me.....she let me drive around the Walmarts parking lot a few times every weekend.

Today was our resort hopping day so we unpacked and then got ready to hit the other resorts on the lake - The Contem, Poly & GF - We'd never seen any of these resorts before!!

First though, I wanted to unpack my wedding dress so that I could try and get the creases out of it! Den was no longer allowed in the walk in wardrobe - he knew it was more than his life was worth to dare take a sneak peak in there!!! :laughing:

We headed out into the heat again and stood on the dock waiting for the boat to take us to the Contem. We were a bit disappointed with this resort for some reason :confused3 It just didnt feel like disney to us :confused3

We had a good nosey around and hit the shops too :thumbsup2 I think we might try going to the resort again on our next trip and try having a meal there - just incase we were a bit too quick to judge :thumbsup2

We grabbed a bottle of coke and then waited for the monorail to take us to the Poly :yay:

We arrived at the Poly and it is such a beautiful resort!! I was really looking forward to going there as Stitch is my fave character, so you can imagine how much I spent in the gift shops!!! :laughing: We were getting hungry so we grabbed a burger from Captain Cook's I think it was called, then we headed back to the monorail to go see The GF - I was really really REALLY excited to go there because we were going to see the Wedding Pavillion too :yay:

We arrived at the GF and this place is really classy and beautiful! I love the look of the resort from the outside & its grounds, I think it's stunning :love:
We had a look around, hit some shops and then headed outside to try and find the Wedding Pavillion. On the way there Den was trying to take a photo of the two of us, when a passing cast member stopped and offered to take it for is! I thought this was such a cute thing to do, she was driving on a golf cart at the same so it wasnt even as if she was just stood there or walking past or anything!! :cloud9:

The Wedding Pavillion was adorable, I loved everything about the way it looked and we just sat there so peaceful gazing at it and thinking about our wedding day that would be spent there :love:

Thanks, I must have ate something that did it :(. Or maybe its because I miss Disney World so much lol. Anyway, yea we do have drivers ed. I never taken it....all I did was take the pre-test which tells you questions on the computer like how far do you have to be from the car in front of you (hey almost sounds like Tomorrowland Speedway warning lol) what signs mean. Then I took the driving test and passed. I was sooo nervous. But all the practice and hard work my mom did for me.....she let me drive around the Walmarts parking lot a few times every weekend.


Great pics of the room (WLV) Such a nice touch. I love the coloring they did to make it look like your out in the wilderness. Can't wait to see more :)

We booked the villa through the annual pass website and got a great discount :thumbsup2 We used the annual pass that we got for the wedding :) The room was huge, lots n lots of space!! The wilderness lodge is beautiful. I've got lots more photos to come yet, mainly from the wedding day - but they will show you the outside of the lodge which is stunning :love:

aww, yes i do love it. I've stayed there 6 times :) Last time we were there we saw a bride/groom getting their wedding pictures outside by the waterfall and that is when my Ddad commented on how nice their disney wedding must have been!!!

DAY 6

Our plans for today were to head to Animal Kingdom and then have dinner at Cinderellas Royal Table during Wishes :love:

We got up and it was such a beautiful morning! We set out to animal kingdom and went on the safari, hit some shops, watched the bird show & Finding Nemo the Musical and a bunch of other stuff. I was getting really REALLY hot at this point and didnt feel very well :sad2: So we decided to head back to the resort, rest and then get ready for MK that evening. Unfortunately we got stuck behind the crowds and the parade which meant there was no way we could get out of the park in a hurry :headache:

When you first enter you are told to sit and wait in the lobby - a cast member gave us a wand and sword which for meant for little one's but we loved them anyway :laughing: Then Cinderella came out and we had photos taken with her and then headed up to the dining room. The room was beautiful!!! :love: We sat down and got our drinks and then Wishes began - it was lovely to sit there watching & listening :love: Unfortunately my camera was playing up so the photos arent too good :sad1:

I decorated the room a little bit and while I was doing so Den stopped me in my tracks and gave me a suprise. He sat me down and put the laptop infront of me & then gave me a dvd - I had no idea what was on it, so I popped it on .... he'd made a video of my parents & our dog and they were telling me how much they loved us and well wishes etc... I was in TEARS! He said he originally was going to show it me on the wedding day but thought it might upset me too much so he'd decided to show it me now. It was beautiful and something I will treasure forever. I pulled myself together, just about, and finished decorating and then headed to bed ready for the day that followed :wizard:

You are in great hands!! :wizard: One warning ... you will have LOADS of beautiful photos to choose from which will cause chaos when you are trying to narrow them down for your album :laughing: You will cherish every photo he takes as he captures lots of memories, the little moments too that will make you smile when you remember silly things from the day that made you laugh.
