Hi Everyone,

I know it might be a little too soon to start a PJ but I just couldn't help myself...

Let's start off with some background on my hubby and I. My name is AnaMaria and I'm 24, born and raised in Miami, FL. My hubby's name is Edward, he's 44, born and raised in East Chicago, IN. I've been a Disney fan ever since I could remember. My parents took me to Disney when I was one and have NEVER missed a year since. My hubby wasn't into Disney all that much until he met me and now he has come over to the "Disney Side". I know some of you might be shocked, as we are obviously 20 yrs apart but in my family it's pretty much common. My father and mother are also 20 yrs apart but in reverse, my mom is 65 and my dad is 45 and have been married 26 yrs (still going strong).

Well, my hubby and I met when I started working at Stiefel Labs. in Dec. 2005, we were just friends as we were both in a serious relationship. About a year and 5 months later we both found each other single and ready to start fresh. Although we both thought different things about each other...a party animal (me) and a workaholic (hubby), lol. We both decided that we might just take a chance and go on a first date (May 17, 2007) and everything we thought went out the window. After the first date we couldn't be a apart and spent everyday with each other. Then we did the most reasonable thing possible get engaged and in the most unconventional way. We were both chatting how we absolutely love each other and how we can't live without one another.:lovestruc Then I asked him, "would you marry me?", after the initial shock he said "Yes!". The next day my hubby wanted to talk to my parents and ask for my hand in marriage. My parents were surprised (for a sec they thought I was preggo's) but said yes and gave us their blessings. That same night we bought 4 round-trip airfare to Chicago, leaving June 28-June 31, 2007. We were married on June 29, 2007 in Chicago, IL at a civil court. :cool1:

I'm super excited to start the planning process even though we are a yr and months away. Sorry for the long introduction, hope you enjoyed reading my PJ as I enjoy reading all of yours!!!popcorn::

I'm leaning towards the #1 with maybe adding some of the green in #2 and I would remove the bright red from it. So it would be an eggplant color, green and white wedding. We are trying to incorporate the darkness of Tim Burton's version but with some whimsy from the original Alice in Wonderland. I also like #3 but I think it's to nice for a Tim Burton wedding, lol.

Can't wait to hear your opinions...

Thanks!:thumbsup2

Well, my hubby and I are trying to decide between a wishes and an escape. I'm going to be calling Disney on Monday, 8/23. We really want a reception with a DJ because our families love to dance and get down. :cool1: At the same time we do not want to spend more than $15K including our honeymoon, which of course will be at Disney. If we do an escape we want it at SBP, with a small reception at the ATTIC and a dessert party in the UK pavilion and if we do a a wishes we want the ceremony in the UK with a reception at ADH and maybe (if money permits) a dessert party at the UK pavilion. I keep checking the BEO's to get an idea on how much we would end up spending. Once we get a call from our planner we want to set up a site visit for October.

Also, I have already decided on my centerpieces...

Your ideas are beautiful!! I love the teapot centerpiece - they are going to look stunning! My fave theme is #1 The deep dark colours look amazing and will look so intense in photos, I think it's really unique and I can't wait to see how your ideas develop and the actual day!! :goodvibes

We went back and forth between Wishes and Escape too and ultimately Wishes was more cost effective for us. We plan to stay as close as humanly possible to the minimum of $12k (then add in honeymoon). Looking at BEO's is a great idea!

Humm, when I think Tim Burton, I think darker, so your 1st inspiration board suits that....but I love the colours in the 3rd one!

Oh, and I love your e-ring!

Hi,

Thank you for everybody's comments and opinions!!!:thumbsup2

My hubby and I spent an hour discussing if we should do a wishes or an escape. We both decided to go with a wishes but before we really commit we want to make sure our planner can get us to $12k exactly (obviously that's not including tax and service charge). If we can not get close to it then we rather go with an escape becuz we know we will spend $10K or less.

Does anyone have a recent BEO for a $12K minimum wedding? :confused3

I'm between three dresses, the first two are from Maggie Soterro and the third from Essense of Australia. Let me know what you think?

Oooooh!!!! I love Inspiration #1. I would keep it those same colours. I love the eggplant!

I love dress #3, but dress #1 is nice as well.

There is a 16 year age gap between me and my fiance. To us age is just a number!

Your plans sound great so far and Yay for getting to have your Disney wedding! I think for the type of wedding you want a wishes wedding is probably the best option. For an Escape, I don't think you can really have a traditional reception, but that doesn't mean you couldn't do an escape and go out dancing somewhere later, just depends on what you want.

Oh Maggie Fiorella! That is a beautiful dress! If my heart hadn't already been stolen by Carrie :lovestruc, how different things might be (I have pics of both in my PJ, if you want to see). You should probably go try on the dresses soon, I had a Maggie dress I loved and always thought would be my wedding dress. Then I went and tried it on and it just wasn't, beautiful, but not my dress . Until you have it on, you won't know for sure. But don't worry, there are so many awesome Maggie dresses, that one of them is bound to be the right one for you! ;) When you do go to try on Fiorella, make sure they lace you up in it, there is an interior lace up panel and then an outer zipper. That will give you a better idea of how the dress will really fit, the one place I went to tried to tell me it was an optional strap :confused3 so you can't always rely on the consultants to know.

For the BM's I like the first one best, but I find these you need to see in person too and have your girls try on, sometimes in person they don't quite look the same. I also thought I had my BM dress all picked, then I saw it :sad2:, but luckily we found the right dress pretty easily.

Good luck in all your planning! :goodvibes

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely look in to it!!!:thumbsup2

We thought we knew we wanted a wishes wedding but I called the representative and she advised me that the prices for 2011 will most likely be raised. :confused3 Obviously, I do not know the extent of it but I hope it's not another $2K added to a wishes minimum. :scared1:

I might just do #6 with some white anemones (picture below of the flower) and some feathers like in #7. What do you think?

Even though I know we are a long way from the wedding, I know what I like and don't like pretty much, so it's easy for me to pick samples. Hopefully I keep this up so by the time I get to talk to Disney, I'll have everything ready.;)

Hey girls and boys,

I need help...

So my hubby and I did some number crunching and we found that an escape with a small reception and dessert party would be a lot less then a wishes, we would save over $2k (yes, we included service charge and tax). Those $2k or more that we will save, will come in handy for paying the honeymoon off.

Now for the questions...

I just need to get something clear:confused3...we can have a reception (maybe not a 4 hour one) with an escape but I would have to do the leg work, correct? Meaning, I would have to book the Attic or any other venue I would like for my reception, the dessert party and florist (centerpieces, etc.) myself? How long can the reception be? Would my family and I need to set up the reception decor or would our planner help us out with it? Also, can we rent an IPOD for music during the reception? Can we transfer the centerpieces I got to the dessert party? Would we have to do it or can we hire someone else to do it? The ceremony decor can arranged with the planner, right?

Thanks,:thumbsup2

I didn't have a reception but i'm sure that you will be able to do something like many other brides. I'm not sure whether it can be a reception with dancing or just a meal :confused3 Your planner will definately offer you advice and will either help you or point you in the direction of a disney staff member who can :thumbsup2 You'll find that most things are possible once you start discussing things with your planner - they are all amazing!!

I think disney will set up decor etc.. for you, at most locations - but they will charge for it. Yes, the ceremony decor is arranged through your planner who will then get someone from the floral department to contact you.

I am an escape bride, and have been looking at options for after the ceremony. Your planner would be able to book the dessert party for you, and if you decide to do a meal , the attic or one of the ballrooms. I was originally looking into a meal at one of the boardwalk restaurants, but then my parents offered to pay for the meal portion and said they wanted buffet.

Which left me to a ballroom or the Attic since I wanted to keep it in the boardwalk area. My planner has given me a choice b/w the Marvin Gardens ballroom and the attic since the St. James room is booked the night of our wedding. She has also booked UK lochside for our DP.

For an escape, you can book the attic for 2 hours. I wasn't given a time limit on the Marvin Gardens ballroom.

I'm not sure about the restaurants, but I think you'd have to book one of those yourself, with the usual time-frame restrictions. I don't know about the centerpieces yet as I haven't gotten to that point in the planning and we'll be brining our own Ipod for the music!

I'd suggest purchasing Lurkyloo's (Carrie's) e-book about planning a disney wedding if you haven't done so already. It will answer a lot of basic questions.

We are leaving to Tennessee tomorrow for a long weekend with my sis and brother-in-law, we are so excited (never been)!!!!! Then next week we leave to Universal Studios for 4 days and 3 nights with my nieces!!!!!

I love your ideas so far. The dresses are all gorgeous and I really like the theme you are going with. The anemones would be lovely to balance the darker colors.

Don't bother trying to rent an Ipod, any mp3 player will do and you can buy them pretty cheap these days, that way you can play around with the music you want on it.

Are you going to be doing a site visit? If you are do you mind sending me some of the pics?

Sorry, we aren't planning on doing a formal sight visit. Escape brides don't get one and we can't afford it right now anyway. We'll be going to Disney around Christmas, but that will be just a few weeks before the wedding. I'll take lots of pictures and would be happy to post them on here, but I'm sure if you search through some of the completed trip reports you'll be able to find pictures of the attic and ballrooms!

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Also, the time limit in the attic for escape brides is indeed 2 hours, but I don't know about extra time for a fee. The 2 hour limit is perfect for us, so I didn't think to ask.

Love the white anmones, I am using them in purples for mine :) Such a lovely elegent choice IMHO:goodvibes, oh and I think you can get the attic for 3 hours. I know other escape brides have done it, maybe post on the main board and see what other people say. I bet Carrie or Toni will have the answer for you as they both had recpetions there and are DFTW experts:goodvibes

We will probably be doing a site visit in October but that's still up in the air because we so many things already planned for this year.

I'm really hoping to get the Attic for 3hours so hopefully Carrie has an answer for me, she usually does, she great help.:thumbsup2

#2-with mickey and minnie ears

#3-smaller of course

#5-in black and white

If worse comes to worse we might just get the modern deco cake from the escape package and change the colors to black and white and take the gold dots and make them silver.

Let me know what you think...

Hi Annie and Welcome!

Congrats!

I wanted to say hi because:

1. I'm 9 1/2 years older than my hubby. :)
2. We had a civil ceremony before our Disney Wedding but NEVER not ONCE referred to our Disney Wedding as a VR! Exactly like you DH and I called it our Wedding. The city hall thing was the marriage (with vows I don't even remember!) Neither did any of our vendors or my coordinator at DFTW! (Tanis, LOVE her!)

Anyway, I love your ideas! I love all the dark purples and the luxe, mysterious feel of your theme!

Anyway, we had an Escape Wedding at SBP with a dinner reception in the Wine Room at Jiko and a DP in Morocco...

So far, it looks like you've gotten some great answers for your questions, but let me know when other things come up (Escape bride wise anyway) I can try to help as much as I can...

Keep up the good work!

I like Inspiration Board #1...have to decide about the cake and the bouquet...I'm leaning towards dress #1... :)

Can't wait to read more about your plans!:goodvibes

Hey,

Well, I finally have an update...my hubby has been talking about having a Wishes wedding instead of an Escape:confused:, so now we comprised to wait until we speak to a consultant to get a comparable BEO.

Also, we have been checking out decor's for our ceremony...check out what we have come up with so far...

Have these hanging from the ceiling.

AND

Petals down the aisle

We went back and forth between wishes and escape and ultimately decided we spend just as much with Wishes but get more for our money. Our WP described Escape weddings as more of an elopement.

I love your pics!! I love the hanging pomanders!! I love the petals down the aisle too...I heard Disney charges a FORTUNE for petals though.

Yeah, that what I keep hearing but I still want to make sure that a wishes would be the same as an escape.

I think a lot of Escape Brides would disagree and also take offense with the planner that said Escape wedddings are more like elopements.
Elopements are traditionally kept a secret and it is just bride and groom, no guests, no meal or celebrations of any sort (for anyone besides the bride and groom).

I'm sure I'm not the only Escape bride who added things on to her wedding, including a meet and greet dinner, a dessert party, a dinner reception and a good bye brunch, yet also kept it small and pretty affordable. (I also upgraded flowers, had centerpieces at the dinner reception etc.)

I think this is a problem with DFTW's and the perceptions that people have. You have more than 2 options besides having the basic no extras Escape wedding or jumping right to a Wishes wedding. There's loads of options and things you can add on to an Escape to make it as unique as a Wishes wedding.

I didn't mean to be offensive...I think what my WP was trying to say is that Escape weddings are designed to be more low-key...simple. I think it's great they work out for some people by adding things to them, which you are right, wouldn't make it an elopement. She said when you start adding things that she tries to sway brides to Wishes because it was designed to be customizable. I think we on the dis are probably not the norm for Escape brides at Disney. I know of a co-worker at another location who did an Escape wedding just as it's designed. No outside photography and nothing but a small simple dinner afterwards. Just my .02.

I am the one who wants the Escape wedding and i know that it will be just as good as my friends but more my style... It is all about what u make of it... I think that an escape wedding is great cause u still have options and it seems like there is less stress than a wishes wedding. I dont know if it is cause my friend is un organized or what ....It is all that u make it...

Ur wedding will be all about u know matter what kind it is....

Hi,

Well I haven't updated in a while because so many things have been going on. First, we became Disney Vacation Club member's last week!!!! Second, my sis and nieces moved because they just sold their house. Last, my hubby has been going to interview's for a job in his hometown Chicago, so we might be moving.:scared1: eeekkk!!!

We are thinking about moving our wedding date up to November or December 2011 due to the weather (June is a scorcher) and if we end up moving to Chicago it will give us time to recover the some money back.

That's all for now, hope to have more new's soon...

Thanks,:)

Hi! I just saw the link to your pj from your post on the DVC board. We just joined DVC too! We will be making our first trip to BLT for our DFTW and honeymoon in April. So I need to go and read completely through your PJ now.

Oh, btw, i live in the Chicago SW Burbs. Pushing the wedding back a few months may be a good idea if you do move. DF and I have been engaged 2 years and can't imagine how tight money would be if we had bought a condo and tried to save for the wedding all within a year. Chicagoland housing is expensive!! HTH! Can't wait to hear more of your plans.:goodvibes

I just looked over your PJ and LOVE your ideas!! I sent you a PM about the menus--hope that helps!

I love my DVC--been a member for 3-4 years. I love Disney and travel so it doesn't get any better than that!! DVC rocks!

I'm also an Escape bride (we think we'll have a total of 24), and we added a reception at Narcoossee's. You can make Escape as complex or simple as you like. I say that I'm a Wishes bride without the room block!

Take care. I'm going to subscribe!!

Congrats to your DH, that sounds like a great opportunity! Good luck with the move.

Hmm, November or December... December 1st is kinda close to Thanksgiving, people may already be traveling for that so to travel the week after for the wedding may not be possible for them. You know your family and friends and if that's the case, but just something to consider. In December you'd have all the Christmas decorations up and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, which could both be really fun.

Both the new theme ideas are great. I think I like the first inspiration board a little better.

We finally chose a date...Dec. 1, 2011 and we decided how many days to stay at WDW and when to take our Disney Cruise. We will be staying at Disney's BoardWalk from Nov. 20-Dec. 11 and then we are going on the Disney Dream from Dec. 11-15. Though, we might split our stay between the BoardWalk and Bay Lake Tower.

We just put our house on the market and will be moving soon to Chicago.:scared1:

Okay, so we changed our venue's from Sea Breeze Point and the Attic to the Wedding Pavilion and the Whitehall Room...we changed because first my dress (at least I think so) was way to formal for SBP and we wanted a DJ so my family can party...

Hi! I haven't posted on your PJ in a long time but just wanted to say your plans are coming along great! Everything looks very glam and classy. Your dress is GORGEOUS!

I wanted to ask you, have you decided on photography? I read through your PJ but don't see anything mentioned (but I'm sure you're working on it!) ;)

Also, DH and I are planning on being in WDW at the same time as your wedding! We have Jan 6-Jan 12 booked as of now. I have a goal of walking the half marathon (or at least trying to!) and as a reward of trying to get back in shape and be healthy, I'm planning on (us) doing some sort of photo shoot on the 10th or the 11th.

Maybe if you don't mind I might just be stalking your wedding too! :goodvibes

Can't wait to read more about your plans! (And you know, shopping for wedding stuff!)

I'm not sure yet...I have contacted The Roots but can't get a confirmation from them until Sept or Oct....I might try Studio 222 or 1313. Or Randy because we LOVED him and already know we are comfortable around him.

But we also or instead might do a DPS shoot in a park/resort! There are so many options!

What time is your ceremony at WP, is it confirmed already and everything? :)

I would do a trash the dress shoot at Typhoon Lagoon or maybe just do a photo shoot at your fav. theme park.

We are having the ceremony at 10am followed by brunch and dancing at the Whitehall Room...

So i received my proposal yesterday and it is right on target for what I was budgeting for our floral...

Personal Flowers:

$275.00 Bride bouquet: grouping of white cymbidium orchids w/ pink and burgundy throat, creamy white ranunculus and white Costa Rica roses gently kissed with blush pink, all wrapped in a creamy ribbon adorned with Parisian inspired gems.

*Might change the pink and burgundy throats, i want a more creamy light pink look.

2 @ $15.00 Groom/Father of the Bride Boutonniere: creamy sahara rose bloom

$15.00 Best Man: coordinating blush rose

$85.00 MOH Bouquet: pink ranunculus blooms, open blush garden roses, accents if sahara roses and subtle crystal embellishments all wrapped in a black ribbon adorned with a single sparkling gem.

2 @ $75.00 Bridesmaids: dainty pink ranunculus, opened blush garden roses and creamy sahara roses wrapped in black ribbon and adorned with a single sparkling jewel.

2 @ $45.00 Jr. Bridesmaid: will carry darling pomander purses of creamy pink roses

$45.00 Flower Girl: will carry a charming pomander purse w/ creamy pink roses and will be held by a white satin ribbon.

Ceremony Floral & Decor:

$500 Aisle Runner: A custom aisle runner blanketed with petals

2 @ $200.00 Altar: Two crystal candelabra's that will hold an arrangement of creamy white garden roses, cascading white cymbidium orchids and ivory hydrangea.

Cocktail Hour Decor:

$50.00 Cocktail Tables: Romantic candle light will accent cocktail tables w/ sultry black candles

*Will be changing this as we are having a morning wedding and candle light will not work, I'm thinking of small black vases with hydrangea's

Reception Decor:

5 @ $225.00 Centerpieces: Black candelabra's featuring, in the absence of candles, soft blush garden roses, sahara roses, creamy ivory hydrangea and tucks of white cymbidium orchids.

45 @ $4.50 Chair Covers: Elegant black chair covers

*will be changing the chair covers to black chiavari chairs

5 @ $30.00 Table Cover: black and white toile

$50.00 Cake Floral

*the altar arrangements will be moved to the reception so it can be placed on our "head table" and will serve as markers for the bride and groom

Event Total: $4018.30 includes production charge and tax

Price will probably go up because i might add some more things...i know im getting everything i want for a better deal then if i would with disney (ie a bridesmaid bouquet $125.00, flourish $75.00)...i might get one more proposal but ive seen what this company can do and they are amazing, so ill most likely set up an appointment with them to do a mock up (which is included, free of charge) while we are their for our planning session.

Update 1: So, I narrowed it down to two Florists...Flourish Designs and Atmospheres Floral...I'm leaning towards Atmospheres because Debbie is all about the small details and she would do a mock up of the ceremony, cocktail and reception decor, plus she will arrange it to be done at your venue (which ours would be at the Grand Floridian Resort at the Whitehall Room). Also, she would contact your linen and chair rental so you can see the complete look at your reception. Another detail she does is for the flower girl basket she puts a small toy under all the rose petals for your flower girl to find. No one has offered the complete mock up and at our venue and she literally is one of the nicest people I've talked to w/ great taste. I'll be receiving her Floral BEO today, so I'll either post it tonight or tomorrow.

Update 2: BBJ Linens will be doing our table covers and below are the one's I'm interested in, #1 is my favorite (sorry the pics are so big)...

1. Garden Toile w/ the pink champagne napkin

Before the whole move we had from Florida to Chicago we were actually going to have our wedding at the Buena Vista Palace, I love that hotel. Nope, I like that room but because I'm estimating around 75-100ppl to show up, Angela (@BVP) and Susan Southerland (Just Marry) suggest one of the ball rooms (Grand Ball Room). The 20seven room at nite would have been amazing for the fireworks; maybe I'll sneak up there for pics. with my photographer. :thumbsup2

Hi,

So, I just spoke to Bill's assistant John and he has informed me that they received all of our paperwork (contract, credit card authorization form and the save the date approval form). It takes 7-10 business days to process and when it's done they send out the Save the Date's. I made a couple of adjustments...our complimentary night I switched it from Jan. 11 to Jan. 18 at the Contemporary Resort and added more days to our room block. I am so freaking excited!!!:cool1:

1 month and 19 days to go for our Planning Session!!!

Hello,

Today I received my aisle runner samples, I chose 3...Perfection Pink, Whisper Ivory and Bed of White Roses. I do not know which one to order:confused3, my hubby likes the bed of white rose, he thinks it would look really nice with the petals on either side but I'm leaning towards more the Whisper Ivory and Perfection Pink (more towards Whisper Ivory). The one I really want is the 3D petal aisle runner but for 75ft it's $975 and it's definitely not worth it for a 30min ceremony. The regular aisle runners are at a really good price compared to Disney's bland aisle runner, 75ft $185. The aisle runner comes with the non-slip backing which requires no taping, it's machine washable and tear/puncture proof.

Any advice on which to choose?

I also got pictures of the Save the Date design from Disney...they should be sending these out by the end of May...:cool1:

Hey,

So here's another update...we booked our videographer. At first we didn't want one because we thought we would never watch it but we started thinking, if we are going to dish out all of this money and not be able to go back and see it, then what's the point. Plus, we unfortunately do not trust my sisters husband with camera equipment, who was going to return the favor and video tape our wedding as my hubby video taped theirs but decided our wedding is worth getting a good videographer. Well anyways, after extensive research looking for a videographer that has the right price and movie looking videos...we ended up choosing Visions Media. They were nice enough to honor their old price which was $949 for 6hrs, one videographer, 3 DVDs, microphones, movie trailer, etc. Compared to everything we saw they had the best videos for the best price.

So, I approved our gift boxes and water bottles, which I think look really nice. Had it custom made by a seller on www.etsy.com. Should be receiving them by the end of this month, I know it's soon but I want to start collecting all the little nick nacks little by little.

http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/giftboxes.jpg

I also found a seller on etsy that will be doing our wine ceremony trunk, she makes custom painted trunks, that look amazing. I sent her some ideas of french toile for inspiration, hopefully it turns out good.

That's it for now, stay tuned...

*33 more days until our Planning Session Vacation*

Just made reservations for the upcoming trip...Olivia's for breakfast on Sat. July 3 and then like my family leaves on the Mon. we made reservations for July 5th at Fulton's to celebrate our 3 yr anniversary...for those of you who haven't read our PJ, we will be married now for 3yrs on June 29 (got married at a civil court) and our Disney Wedding we consider our Marriage Celebration...I also rqsted 2 buildings at Old Key West Resort, building 64 because it has an elevator and my mother-in-law has a hard time walking and just in case building 43 because it's near the 2nd large pool w/ snack bar and arcade

Karen is my planner!! I have heard from one other bride here who had her, and she said that she was excellent all the way through (she already had her wedding). I am still in my planning stages and so far Karen has been great. She is quite busy but she does always get back to you and does whatever she can to help. I have made a couple of big changes to my wedding (time and location :scared1:) and she has been very accommodating and good to work with.

I spoke to my florist today to finalize our mock-up meeting...made a couple of small changes, we are moving the 2 crystal candelabra's to the reception, one will be on the guestbook/escort card table and the other will be on my table, we also changed from having some greenery to no greenery in any of our arrangements.

Now for the BIG NEWS...my florist informed me that she loved my idea for our Vintage Paris wedding so much that she will be featuring it in this weeks Orlando 2010 Bridal Show!!!! :cool1:I'm so freaking excited!!!:dance3: She has a professional photographer going so she will be sending me pictures of it next week. I'm actually going to be seeing some of my decor for the wedding even before our mock-up meeting.

I never posted the complete concept for my flowers, so here it is (keep in mind these are just idea's, the candelabra's will be what I'm renting from my florist)...

20 More Days until our Planning Session Vacation!!

Yes, I know it's soon but I started ironing our clothes and putting them into our luggage. While I iron I listen to Disney theme park/resort music from www.srsounds.com. We bought clothes for our vacation and we don't like to wear it until we are on vacation (a little crazy huh, lol:rotfl:). We are really excited and these 20 days feel like eternity. Hi girls,

We had our planning session yesterday and it was sooo much fun!!!:cool1: The food was delicious and so was the yummy cake. We took plenty of pictures and video of Franks, Wedding Pavilion, Whitehall Room, menu and cake tasting. Today, we went to Blizzard Beach even though it was cloudy all day, the park was practically empty and we went on everything (except Summit Plummit, we are chickens, lol) twice. We probably will head to the Boardwalk tonight and have a few drinks. I'll go into more details when I come back...:thumbsup2

So, I'm back and ready to start my trip report. I'm not much of a writer so I'll do some explanation but it will mostly be pictures...sorry if the pics are big, never learned how to make them smaller...

June 30, Day 1 - Departing Chicago...Hello Disney!!!

We woke up at 6am, showered and went to take our very cute Havanese (Tink & Ollie) to their doggie hotel.

Once that was taken care of we headed back to go over our check list and make sure everything was packed. On a last minute decision we decided to take the Coach bus to Midway Airport instead of driving there, so we raced to the bus stop and reached it just in time (10:15am) to buy our tickets and get our luggage loaded.

After settling in we decided to go check out Turtle Pond Pool and have dinner at Olivia's. The food at Olivia's was so delicious but expensive, I had the Prime Rib, DH had the Pork Chop and his mom has the chicken breast...everything was amazing!

After Dinner, my dad called me to let me know that he was not be able to leave work until 6 so they will probably make it here at midnight (they live in Miami). I was totally bummed but at 8:00pm I got a call from dad saying to open the door, all I kept saying is "you are BSing me right?" but they weren't!!! My mom, dad and 2 nieces were right outside the door. Don't have any pictures after that, I was way ti excited to video or take pics. The rest of the night we relaxed and went to sleep early for our PS Day.

July 1, Day 2 - Planning Session Day

We all woke up at around 7:00pm (except for my nieces who had to stay behind) got dressed and had some coffee. We headed out at 8:15pm, got their 15-20mins early and decided to video and take pics.

When we arrived, we waited for about 5mins before Karen Haynes (our planner) came in. She is so nice and so easy to get along with. We immediately proceeded to the Grand Floridian to have our menu tasting (my parents followed in their car).

So, after almost getting scolded we heading to the kitchen where we met our chef, Corey. He walked us through all the menu items...we started with the Cheese Display, it was so yummy especially the Port Wine Cheese (my favorite)!!!

Tinkerbell Brunch Buffet...tweeked

http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12045.jpg
They had this set up, it was so cute!
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12039.jpg

Cheese Display...we also had bleu cheese bacon wrapped meatball w/ tai chili for an appetizer, it was sooo good (we forgot to take pics before everyone ate it, sorry)

My mommy and daddy enjoying some cheese!
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12041.jpg
After the appetizer's we had the Canadian Cheese Soup (mine and DH's favorite), which my parents on the third try ended up loving it. My mom says the first taste is weird, second taste you like and third you love, lol.
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12042.jpg
Then came the buffet items...from left to right, Fig Jus Chicken, yukon potatoes topped with breakfast sausage and baked ham with mild pineapple sauce. The chicken, potatoes and sausage were amazing, I liked the ham but not the sauce so they will keep it aside for whomever wants to add it as a topping.
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12043.jpg
For dessert came the Wild Berry, Grand Marnier Crepes...they were to die for, everyone finished it and it will definitely be a hit at the reception.
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12044.jpg

By the time we finished we were completely stuffed and didn't know who we were going to make to the car...who ever is doing a menu tasting, come with an empty stomach!

So we said good bye to Chef Corey and went on our way back to Franks to do the cake tasting...
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12046.jpg

I was able to take a quick pic of the Whitehall Patio before we headed our cars...

http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12051.jpg

So, I'm getting my Chanel Inspired cake (hopefully, if the price isn't too steep)...it will look similar to the pic below but just the bottom 3 layers...
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/chanelcake-1.jpg

First tier
Almond Cake w/ Bavarian Cream (might change to red velvet w/ cream cheese)

Second Tier
Almond Cake w/ Buttercream (so yummy!)

Third Tier
Yellow Cake w/ Baileys Mousse (this was everyone's favorite, we finished the bailey's mousse, lol)

After the cake tasting we went over the details for transportation, entertainment, music, etc. We were done by 11:00am because I'm using an outside florist, linen and chairs. When we were done, we said good-bye to Karen and went str8 to the Wedding Pavilion to get pictures...

We finally all had enough of taking dozens of pictures we heading back to OKW so we can pick up my nieces and go to Publix. We had a whole cart full of food and all I can say by the end of the week it was all gone.

When we were done shopping we headed back to the resort so I can take a shower and get ready for Ana from Beaute Speciale for my hair and make-up trial which was for 4:00pm. She ended up getting their a little late due to her prior appointment taking longer then expected but she was so nice and did such a great job.

 Welcome back!! First, love the OKW. Do you know if they update the rooms recently? It's my parents dvc home resort. When we visited them there in May there was carpet all the rooms not the hardwood as in the pic and some other things were different (sofa...drapes).
I love the Chanel inspired cake. So pretty! The food looks great too. The crepes will be a nice touch at the reception.

It was our first DVC stay and our first stay at OKW, we loved it. The rooms are being renovated so far they have buildings 30-33 and 40-43 are done (we had building 43). They expect for all the building to be refurbished by fall 2011. They changed the carpets in the bedroom, tiles to hardwood, the bed linens, wall paint, granite countertops, flat screen TV's, furniture, etc.

I love that cake, we are hoping it won't go over our cake budget if it does we might have to go with something less elaborate. The food was good and like my hubby says "it's Disney, they know what they are doing."

I love all of your pictures! You must be so excited now after having your planning session - you are that much closer to your wedding! Ana did a great job with your hair and makeup - I am really glad that I booked her to do mine! I am sorry if you said this somewhere and I missed it, but did you provide inspiration pictures for her or did she do her own thing?

Also, what did you think of Karen Heyn? She is my planner too, but I have only ever spoken to her on the phone.

Thanks! I'm extremely excited now but I feel for some reason there isn't enough time left to do everything (but like hubby says, "your crazy, we have 6 whole months" lol). I brought my own inspiration, I really wanted a glam up 50's/60's hair and I think she did great, I also brought her a pic of the type of make-up I wanted.

Karen was really great, she was so sweet and you will love her even more in person. We were a little confused about how to do the transportation and she sorted it out so easily. She put my fears to rest and I know the wedding day will go smoothly.

July 2nd, Day 3 - Blizzard Beach

The day started up with a very early wake-up call, 5:30am, I shaved and so did my oldest niece (she's a teen already, how time flies). Slowly, everyone else started waking up and making breakfast for themselves (fried eggs and crescent rolls). By 7:15am everyone was dressed and almost done with breakfast. My hubby started looking at the weather and according to them it was going to be cloudy, rainy all day with thunderstorms. We all made a vte and decided to take our chances, we knew either A the park will be empty or B the thunderstorms will ruin our day. We leave the villa at 7:40pm and we are the first to arrive at BB (we like to be the first one's in so we can get good hut). So we wait an hr and 20mins to have BB open at 9:00am, my niece and I race to our favorite hut and starting setting up camp while we wait for the others to catch up.

07-10-2010, 11:04 AM
After BB we went back to the villa to shower and get dressed to head to DTD. We all decided that we would like to shop and with no reservations we would settle eating McDonald's.

We catch the ferry from OKW to DTD...

http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12170.jpg

When we arrives at DTD, we quickly realized we will not be able to shop as it was packed with people (duhh, Friday night on 4th of July weekend, we should of figured). So, we quickly go towards McDonald's to find out it has closed and being replaced with a chicken place. We all had no clue of this so we decided with no reservations for any restaurant to take my parents car into Kissimmee and find somewhere to eat.

Here we are back on the ferry...

By the time we got back it was close to 8 and we were all starving...we get into my parents van and head out in search of food. The first thing my niece Bella see's is Logan's Roadhouse, she says "there, look, Logans, that sounds good." So, none of us have ever ate there so we decide to take the chance and if it doesn't work out we all blame Bella, lol.

As luck would have it, we all loved it. The food was amazing and so were the prices. There bread is so soft and yummy, the spinach artichoke dip was amazing and the steaks were out of sight. If you have a car, I totally recommend heading to Logan's Roadhouse, you won't regret it.

Day 4-July 3

I don't have any pictures of today as we mostly spent the day at the pool and then went back to our room to have some arroz con gandules and yummy pollo.

Day 5 - July 4

So it's 4th of July and we decide to start the day early and head to DTD for some shopping.

http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12204.jpg

I bought some Alice in Wonderland tea to place in my welcome bags, a cute mickey tank-top, Disney doggie bowls and my mom bought me a Disney Couture Alice in Wonderland inspired shirt.

After shopping we went to see the movie Eclipse, which was so good that even my picky dad liked it. Once the movie was over we headed back to OKW to hit the pool...

Hippie lovin nieces lol...Love, Peace, Chicken grease!

Day 6 - July 5

:banana:Going to see the mock-up of my centerpiece, yayyy!!!

Debbie called me to see if we can come in at 11am instead of 2pm and we all said sure. We piled into my parents van and headed towards Orlando to meet Debbie at one of her studios.

We don't have many pictures of the location but here are the pics of the centerpieces...

we will be changing the candelabra to one that is more ornate, removing the petals on the bottom and exchanging them for small candle holders but instead of a candle it will have flowers on them.

http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12229.jpg

We also ended up going for more of a softer look for the flowers, here is how it will look, my favorite pic...
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/Disney%202010/SDC12231.jpg

Speaking with Debbie was great, some things will need to added or changed but that's exactly why you do a mock-up...Debbie understood everything and we will be having soon phone consult to go over some more details which i love because one of the most important details of the wedding for me is flowers.

We headed back to OKW to hit the pool...

To be Continued...

So, it's official I won't be able to get my cake...

Karen emailed me to let me know that the cake is $850.00++ and as much as I love that cake, I'm not paying that price for a 3 tier cake and for only 30 guests. So it's back to the drawing board for us...

Bye, bye cake...:sad2:

Oh, I'm so sorry!! I know how excited you were about that cake!

Thanks...hubby and I just talked about it and found a new cake, hopefully this one will be within our cake budget of $500++

The cake will look the like pic below but on tier 1 and 3 will have the image of a french toile and on the top of the cake we will have a large anemone.

Okay so the second cake I posted is $1200++ and that is not happening either...hubby says to get the $850++ cake but honestly I rather take that money and put it somewhere else. I sent Karen (my planner) another cake and hopefully this is it...

the cake will look exactly like the cake below but larger, it's doesn't look to me like an expensive or time consuming cake, I hope...

I've been speaking to the designer who will be making our custom wine trunk for the ceremony, she has sent some pictures of the process...

This is how the top part of the trunk looks like so far...
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/trunk1.jpg

The front will have have our names and wedding date but in black and we decided to add the Cinderella birds holing a ribbon with our names in it...

The latch is so pretty...
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz258/puente0629/trunk3.jpg

The inside of the lid will of a quote and will be lined with a toile fabric.

I really like how it's turning out, she is doing a great job hand painting everything. :)
