We actually have 2 trips booked and have paid the deposit on both. We didn't get trip insurance on either one because a CM on the online chat said if we cancelled before 45 days we'd get it all back regardless. I read on another thread that you WON'T get your full deposit back if you cancel out past 45 days.
So does anyone know for sure? Will you get your full $200 back if you cancel BEFORE you hit your 45 day mark (no insurance purchased)?:confused:

For packages:
If you have 45+ days until your arrival, you can cancel for a full refund of all monies paid.
If you have less than 45 days but more than 8 days, you will get all but $100 back.
If you cancel 7 days or less prior to arrival, you will pay a $200 penalty but the rest will be refunded to you.
If you booked room-only, you have until 8 days prior to your scheduled arrival to cancel your reservation. If you fail to cancel you will forfeit your deposit - the equivalent of 1 night's stay.
These policies apply whether you purchased insurance or not.
ETA: The cost of insurance is extra and is non-refundable. If you purchased airline tickets along with your package, they are subject to the airline's cancellation/reticketing policy.

Scenario 1: $200 deposit on package with no trip insurance. Full refund if cancelled before 45 days.
Scenario 2: $200 deposit on package that has trip insurance added. Amount of trip insurance is deducted from your deposit and the balance, if any, is refunded. Trip insurance is nonrefundable as soon as it's added to the package.
Unless a client has purchased nonrefundable airline tickets that they want covered immediately (some people do, some do not), I recommend adding the trip insurance only at the time of final payment to avoid scenario #2. Trip insurance cannot be added after the final payment date.
