We are thinking about booking a cat 11 with a guarantee. I fear that we will get upgraded to a cat 10 and be on the bottom of the boat. Anyway around this?
Thanks!

Sky,
Do not fear the lower decks! We have cruised on DCL twice and been on deck 2 and LOVED IT! And a cat 10 gives you the split bathrooms, which is a big deal. We had a cat 9 then a cat 11 and we really missed the split bath.
The lower decks were great. We were able to take the stairs to the atrium and not wait for the elevators. JMHO.

But can't you feel the movement of the boat much more?

The higher you are, the more motion you feel.

Sky,
The only night I felt anything was the first night and not much in my room at all. I felt it up top and in the dining room a bit.
I really like Deck 2 and I am prone to motion sickness
Hope this helps!

We have been on deck 2 and deck 7. We have had a cat 7 with navigator's verandah, cat 11 inside, and cat 12 inside no split bathroom. I loved the setup best of the cat 12 inside. you had the couch area, then the bed facing you as you come in. I love this configuration as we were always tripping over the end of the bed in the cat 11 and cat 7. I also like the 1 bathroom best, because with the split bathroom there was less room to move. Call me crazy but I like the tub and bathtub in the same space.:)

Have no worries....we have stayed in the Cat 4 three times a Cat 8 once and a Cat 9 once on deck 1. Loved Deck 1. Was the most convenient to get on and off the ship for shore excursions. Also, there is definitely less movement the lower you are.

I had the same concern so I asked my TA to let me know if an upgrade became available before actually upgrading me so that I could decide if I wanted it. I really like the location of the cabin I am booked in (haven't been on a cruise yet but it looks good). Category 11, Room 7063 (mid-ship).
