RFTT & ToT races officially done after this year

Just received the email from Disney stating that this will be the last year of the Race For the Taste 10K & Tower of Terror 13K races.

There was also this statement: This fall, look for an upcoming announcement on future Disney races!

So the rumor about a possible Fall Half Marathon is perhaps gaining more credibility.

Iam so disappointed at this news as I wanted to do the ToT race in the next few years. I also missed out on the Minnie...grrr....lack of funds is a drag.:guilty:::sad2:

I expect the new race to be a Fall "Pirates" themed Half Marathon to help kick of the 2011 release of the 4th Pirates movie. I think they will run it from Richard Petty along the last 1/2 of the marathon course. That was to be the Princess course and it is already USATF certified.

It would be a Disney thing to do!

It is disappointing if they pull the RfTT and TOT, but a Pirate theme sounds good too - but I like the shorter races, they are good to get beginners out there racing!

Trust me, they will do like they do at Princess. They will have a 5K on Sat and the 1/2 on Sunday with the new fall race.

I think this sounds great! I liked the Princess course since it went through the castle, but the last half of that course is tough for me...Heat and all the overpasses. I think this course sounds better. Sounds similar to the RFTT course or the Minnie course. LOVED the Minnie course!

I will miss having teh in-between races. A half marathon sounds so intimidating to new walkers/runners. 13 K adn 15 K (Minnie and ToT) are a great distance that doesn't sound as intimidating.

Plus, I am so tired of everythign being part of the marathon course. ToT was great to be different.

I just came over here to check the DIS opinions on this news. It's a bummer for runners like me. :guilty: I really enjoy the races and particularly enjoy the 10k or 15K length. I was sad that the Minnie wasn't more popular. The half is just a tad too long. I was also sad that they moved the May race to March! Granted, I can't run any of the Disney races for a while due to living overseas now, so my opinion doesn't much matter. We'll see what they have to offer in a couple of years when we move back.
