Yay for starting a new PJ!! I think it will help you be more organized now! I can't beleive you are having your reception in AK!!! From what I read in your original PJ, I think it suits you perfectly! (I am super jealous and want to change my location now, btw).
You seem much happier with your choices now, and I'm so happy for you! I can't wait to read more updates :goodvibes

Awww thank you!! That's why I wanted a new PJ...way too much going on in my old one...too many ideas...too many changes!
I am so excited about AK and so is Eric (it's his favorite park!). I am excited to pick out a cool cake with a bit of an African twist ;) Wait till you see what I found!

We just confirmed it yesterday. After sitting down with Df and figuring out what we really want we called our WP. We both agreed that we could have done a reception in a ballroom back at home and AK was what we have wanted from the beginning and we would figure out a way to make it work.

I love all the cakes, but I REALLY REALLY love the last two!
Oh, and your pink carnation centerpieces remind me of cotton candy (which fits my theme), so I might have to borrow that idea from you for bouquets! The lanterns are great as well! If you are buying your own, Ikea has a lot of them, and they usually go on sale at the end of summer. You could even buy white ones and paint theme to match your cake (some with zebra stripes, some with leopard print). Wow, I am getting too into this! It is great that you get the best of both worlds too, the romantic to dramatic theme...i love it!

I do love the 2nd to last one!! I am not sure about brining my own lantern into that venue though. I'll have to check.

I like it pretty much the way it is....I mean besides putting linens and centerpieces on the table so I'm not sure. As far as extra costs...not that I know, just what I posted. I mean we will have to pay for transportation now, but the only extra costs are the $250 venue fee.

Wow. Mandy, I've been following your PJ from the beginning. I think you are so brave making this radical of a change. I have so many questions, as I'd love to do an in park reception someday (although probably at DHS since it's my favorite). It's a shame you have to lose Randy and Stan now, I've read so many mixed things about Disney photography and it seems like you have such little ability to choose the people who are known to be good. But it will be good for you to have the extra money back to devote to other things. Have you gotten your deposits back yet?
And to move to AK is really brave. For me, that one would be the most challenging park, I think. Are there restrictions for what you can do for centerpieces and the like? I know plastic is a big no no. All the restaurants use cardboard straws so as not to pose a danger to the animals. Have they told you about any limitations on decorations, centerpieces, favors, etc. I am guessing they'd have to make sure that any flowers are non-toxic (so for example no hydrangeas which are poisonous -- I just noticed you had them as an idea for Lauren's bouquet-- because loose petals might be a danger to the animals). I also think it's super cool that you are willing to do an outdoor evening reception in March. What time does it get dark? The only thing I'd worry about is a cold snap at night. The average low for that time of year is 55 so not bad. Have you asked about potentially bringing heaters in if it's really cold, or will you just move it to Pizzafari if that's the case? Are you allowed to have a DJ or an iPod set up or is it restricted like in Epcot during the park hours? Since wedding attire isn't allowed in the parks can you wear your dress for the reception or do you have to change? Are you and Eric paying for the guests' park admission for the reception or are they just going to use a day of their park tickets? And is Disney going to be providing transport to the Boardwalk for the afterparty. Will the buses still be running by the time the reception ends. If the ceremony is at 5, I'd imagine the reception would be starting at the tail end of EMH. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE your idea of the after party at Jelly Rolls. How many guests are you expecting? If I remember correctly, JR is not that big, I'd be a little concerned about it filling to capacity before the party got there and people not getting in, but you can just move the festivities over to ADH which is plenty big enough. Well, this sounds fantastic -- a true fairytale for you and Eric. Please, please please post your BEO as soon as you get it as I am sure it will help all of us figure out how to make our fairytales work.

Hi mandy!!
I have to admit before I start to being really bad at keeping up with PJs, so apologies if you mentioned any of these changes in your old one.
But WOW! What a turn around, that AK location looks reallly cool and so different! I remember seeing the photos on the Roots website and thinking how great it looked all decorated. Hope it works out as well for you guys. :) I look forward to hearing what you decide as decoration, as you could really make that location wonderful with the right touches complementing what Disney has already put there. I also think the idea of a themed band could work well, as some subtle background music would really make you feel like you'd been transported somewhere.
And can I just say - sugahjunior - we all totally need someone like you helping with our plans! I must admit I jsut saw the AK location and thought "oooh, pretty" and then read your post and was like "good point, good point!" I wish I was as level headed!

Lauren just showed me those pictures that Roots took. I had only seen the one in Carries book. I actually don't think the location needs much. Definitely linens and a center piece but it looks so pretty lit up at night! I am also curious to see what options are for a band and how much.
I actually don't mind any of the restrictions that are set up. I think the location is just beautiful and it's going to be a lot of fun for us and our guests!:cool1:

Hey Amanda! I'm glad that everything is finally coming together. I love your new reception location. That will be a unique location to have it and I recalled that you, toward the beginning of your other PJ, mentioned that AK is Eric's favorite place.
About the DP - while Italy is my preference to view Illuminations from, the UK is great as well. If you do end up with the UK and can't move to the Italy location, you'll be having so much fun that night with the excitement of the upcoming wedding, surrounded by friends and family, enjoying great Disney food and feeling that special Disney magic that I doubt you'll even give the Italy location a thought. So, please don't stress about the location. You have a location reserved and it will be a great night regardless if it's in the UK pavilion or the Italy pavilion.

:goodvibes You will have an amazing day and night!! Wherever you end up for your dessert party you will have a great time and it will look lovely and you'll remember it forever. We had ours at Japan and wouldnt change a thing about it - to begin with I was very worried about the location but it turned out amazing. People walking past kept stopping to wish up congratulations and a mum asked if her little girl could take a photo of us. I'll never forget moments like those!! You can't get that anywhere else but disney :lovestruc My favourite moment was dancing with den to the music with the fireworks were happening & then it slighty started to rain a little - so romantic & helped cool me down too! After it ended the rain came down really heavy as everyone was running out of the park - we just sat snuggled under the pavillion roof for a while and then had to make a run for it, but i didnt care about getting wet, it was so much fun! Trust me, fate will make sure you have a memorable day - just enjoy it :hug:

Awww...thank you for sharing that. What a romantic story! Df and I seriously can not wait for the wedding and hope that it will be just as romantic as yours!
Sorry to hear you didnt get italy, but your guests will be amazed no matter what - and UK is a great location too. Your dessert party will be fabulous and no one but you will know the difference!:goodvibes
If Italy is really important to you, have your planner keep checking on it - people change thier minds all the time!!!
We started planning on a dessert party in france on a monday night, and changed our minds after it was already in our contract and all. Now we are in italy on saturday night. So you never know...
Our WP knows Italy is still our first choice and is wataching to see if the other group lets it go and picks another night. We are crossing our fingers for Italy but either way we are psyched to have a DP in EPCOT!

You'll have a great day - lots of smiles and lots of tears, but of the happy sort ;) I wish I would have been better prepared emotionally for when our planner opened the wedding pavillion doors, I was so overwhelmed that I cried all the way down the aisle  Soooo elegant, not  Your day will be very romantic i'm sure - and you've got some great ideas which will make the planning even more fun :wizard:

Aww thanks for that bit of advice! I am already prepared for the tears at the ceremony...df too, lol. He's a big baby sometimes (in a good way!). Now that we have everything picked I am going to kind of step back. I want our wedding day to be stressfree and now that everything is completely settled I am actually feeling less stressed.

I dont think a disney bride is ever stress free, at least, not for long  There's always something new to worry about and then after the big day we just laugh at ourselves about how crazy we got  But try and chill as much as you can - will do you good  Awww bless, you and your df sound like a perfect match :thumbsup2 Pack lots of tissues ;) I'm sure your actual day will be totally stressfree, its everything leading up to then that will possibly leave you screaming & pulling your hair out  It's definately all worth it in the end though :goodvibes Your dress is lovely by the way princess:

Awww bless him! With it being just the two of us, we were together the whole time more or less. We got ready at the wilderness lodge villas - but as soon as the dress came out he was banned from bedroom. So we kinda finished off getting ready seperately (unless you count randy, stan, ana & lily) so in theory - neither of us was on our own. Den went down to the courtyard with stan and I eventually came down with Randy and sneaked up behind Den and we did our 'first look' We then took lots of pics and travelled to the wedding pavillion together. We then got seperated to go in individual rooms before the ceremony - so we still did the aisle thing seperately etc.... I loved us doing it this way  Just depends on what you both want :) Luckily we agreed on doing it this way, but maybe if we had lots of guests & a wedding party then we might have done it the traditional way - it's just what suits you both best and what fits in with your plans for the day.

At least you have some time to pursuade DFi to do the first look before the ceremony. I think the pictures that I have seen from other's "first looks" are precious and it is a nice sentiment, plus it calms nerves. Both my FSIL's did a first look and pictures before the ceremony, getting all the family pictures out of the way so after the ceremony you can just worry about taking some pictures of the two of you. I know we don't need to convince you, but maybe it will give you more leverage. DFi and I are planning on doing a first look, but we also have to do some pictures before the ceremony because our ceremony is at 430 and we will be racing the sun by 5 to get nice pictures.

SPEAKING of reception...my FMIL is at it again. I think with 2 boys she just doesn't understand how weddings work. She told DF tonight that his grandmother is in tears that she can't come to the wedding. Now first of all we decided this quite a long time ago. I know she's upset and we would love for her to be there but she is 94 years old and will be almost 95 by the time the wedding rolls around. We can't revolve the wedding around one person (DF's words....)
SO, FMIL says they will throw something small so that his grandmother can see me in my wedding dress. UGH!! First of all I had no desire to go hang out at there house in my wedding dress, BUT It's for his gma so whatever. Second of all, we are not throwing a party just for his side of the family!! So after deciding NOT to do an at home reception it looks like we have to figure something out. Blech.
Um, omg, I am in the EXACT same position. FMIL TOLD us (not asked) that she WILL have some sort of private reception for her side of the family....since we do not want that, we are now forced into finding some type of at-home reception. :headache:
We are trying to make the best of it though, by thinking about all our friends that we can invite, who are not invited to the wedding, and we are going to try to incorporate our wedding theme into it as well. Maybe that will help for you as well?

oh no! Couldn't she just watch the video? Okay, not being completely serious on that one...is there some way though that you could incorporate her on the day of the wedding so she feels involved? I know STVS does the live streaming, so she would be able to watch it, or if that's not an option maybe you could call her right before and have her on the phone during the ceremony so she can hear it?

Ok, before you get too worried, go look at Vanessa at home reception cost... it is crazy low. She is a genius and recylced things from her DFTW so kept the cost down. It was amazing how she did it:thumbsup2
If you dont want the at home reception what about a small wedding dinner at FMIL's house? Maybe a more formal dinner party in suits and you could wear your dress for a bit. Just immidiate family, yummy food and a small cake. I can understand that you want to include her, but if you dont want a huge at home thing, a small dinner party may work nicely. :goodvibes

I may be the only one who would be happy to wear my dress again (but it is too big now and won't even stay up)..I loved wearing it and if it is a small party so the family who couldn't attend the wedding can celebrate, I think it is a pretty fair compromise.
On the first look thing, I really wanted DH to only see me once I walked thru the door. I even made the WC shut the doors so when I came around the corner he couldn't see me. I think it was worth it..the look on his face was priceless..which I guess you can get with a first look as Carrie had great pictures..just my 2cents.

That's what I thought...it's one of the only reason we got a videographer. She will have to settle for watching it when we get home. I am not being harsh but even his parents said, she is almost 95 years old...she may not be here when we get married :(

Hi Mandy,
I have been lurking on DIS forever and since I love weddings, have spent quite a bit of time perusing the wedding board and seeing everyone's plans and ideas. I have to say there are some lovely wedding being planned on this board! :goodvibes
Ok, now I'm going to say something not so nice, I hope its not too upsetting considering that you don't know me :flower3: please take it in the spirit its given in. I actually registered just to post this...
My grandparents both passed away, one when I was 9 the other when I was 12. I was very close to them both. I would have done ANYTHING to have my grandparents there for my wedding, but sadly couldn't.
I know you're frustrated with your inlaws, etc., but please, please take the time to put the dress on, even if you feel silly, to give your fiancee's grandma something to see and be happy about. We will all get old some day. Today you're seeing this through the eyes of an impatient young bride. Imagine being 95 and unable to do the things you long to do, to be with your family at such important events. Imagine how wonderful and special and beloved it would make you feel if your grandson's fiancee spent the extra time and effort to let you know that you are important, that your feelings still matter.
As you said, she's 95. Imagine all the heart ache and sacrifice and love that went into those 95 years. Imagine the heatache of watching your life slowly slip away.
The more you strive to find middle ground and harmony with your inlaws the less tension there will be in your marriage.
Also, since I haven't commented here before, I think your reception location is lovely. I think rather than go so strongly toward an animal theme with the cake, you might want to consider a "casablana" style. Imagine how lovely, a '40s piano bar, retro stylings, elegant hollywood chic. Its just a suggestion.
Good luck and best wishes to you, and I hope you take this in the spirit it was intended.

Wow, I don't know if you'd like that type of thing Amanda, but that'd be an awesome reception - especially with your dress and all. Regardless, it's still an awesome reception location and it's your day but I could so picture you in that dress in a setting like that.

I know how you feel about at home receptions. I wasn't bothered either way about having one but I did love the idea of putting my dress on again. FMIL though just assumed we were having one and that it would be where they live, this peeved me a bit but it is where we probably would have had it. They are paying for most of it, I would not be having it otherwise as we could not afford to pay for it all. So we started on the guest list last week and got up to about 115 people :scared1: but I'm hoping only about 75 people will come which is the minimum we've got to pay for. Then my Dad comes at me from another side. I ask him for some addresses of his friends and say I know most of them won't come as it too far but hopefully the ones nearer can make it and he starts going on about how they'd have to pay to stay over (I flew to Scotland for one of there weddings which in the UK is pretty far) and then says I can have another party just for his friends and that he'd pay for half if I paid the rest and how I could pay to stay in a hotel. That is so not going to happen but at the moment i've just said to him i'll wait and see if they come to the party I am already throwing but if he mentions it again i'll be putting my foot down.
Hope you get something sorted out.

I am loving that dress! And I have always been fond of the cherry red/turquoise blue combo. It always makes me happy! :goodvibes Of the necklaces... I am thinking number three might be best. It is nice and simple, yet bold. The second one I fear the flower may interfere with the straps, so that may not be too comfortable. That is just my thoughts on the matter though. Nice finds! :thumbsup2
Edit: I meant cherry red, not sherry! ;)

So I have been trying to figure out what to wear for our e-pics. I had purchased a cute denim skirt last week and was going to find a bright colored top for it. Until my mom got this for me!
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/4150iUGoGLL._AA260_.jpg
I am thinking of getting one of these to wear with it. I also have a cute pair of wedge sandles that are like cork colored bottoms with teal straps.

#1 LOVE the dress
#2 Those are my colours...and I love those necklaces...would you be terribly mad if I purchased a similar one? Oh, and I like the first 2 the best! But they are all really nice!
I too understand your frustration (as I have said before:rotfl:) with family. I think every family is different, and I often get judged as well for not "caring" about whether or not certain family members are there (not saying you don't care, but you know what I mean). For a lot of people, family are really important to them, which is great for them! But for some of us, it's just not as big of deal (for me, I consider most of my friends more "family" than many of my actual family members). Just do what makes you happy!!!

Awww thank you:hug: It's not that I don't care either (totally understood what you meant). Just when I think things are settled, one more thing comes up!!
Oh and steal away!! There are a TON on Etsy. Search red and turquoise necklace!! The ones I posted were around $20!!
ETA: I think the first one's blue beads are closer to the color of the dress.

I don't think the round neck of the second necklace goes with a V neck dress but does depend on length. For me i'd pick number 3.

First, I love the dress for the e-pictures and the jewelry options are all very cute :thumbsup2 I can't wait to see your shots from Randy.
On the at-home reception front, I definitely know how you feel. At first, I didn't want one either and DH's dad was really into having it. He even offered to get us a hall (which he did). He then unexpectantly had a heart attack and passed away 3 months before the wedding. We considered canceling the reception, but in the end went forward with it. Despite my reservations I'm glad we did it after all.
As Sam already said we did it extremely cost effective - no alcohol or DJ, but our total cost with food, decorations, etc. was at $3,300 for 150 people. Our food priced out at $10 each and I know you said you found a place at $15 each, so definitely still in that range.
Plus, in the end it was neat to see the excitement on everyone's faces as they were able to look through our photos and watch our video from the wedding. People got so excited having the chance to be a part of the day even if they weren't there in person. In fact, I wasn't going to wear my wedding dress, but some of my cousins insisted and I'm glad they did because I have some really nice photos in my wedding gown with family who couldn't be at the wedding.

Aww thank you for sharing that. Hopefully we can keep the cost down. The place I found seems pretty flexible and I am looking into a few others. I am so sorry that your FIL didn't make it to see how beautiful everything turned out!

Ok maybe my post came across in the wrong way because of my frustration. This really doesn't have anything to do with his grandmother but more my future in-laws. I understand his grandmother wanting to be there. Eric is her favorite grandchild. However, it was Eric's decision to have a destination wedding knowing she can't be there. The only reason we are getting a videographer is because Eric wants his grandmother to see the ceremony, and I am ok with that.
I only have 2 grandmothers left, one of which I am not on speaking terms with. I would give anything if she wanted to be a part of my life and this wedding and I would give anything to have my grandfather back and be part of that day so I totally understand.
My frustration is with his mother who keeps changing things up without any thought to anyone else. I don't belive she does this intentionally which is why I vent about it here and not to her directly. We accomadated her request to have a welcome part. An at-home reception was not originally in our budget. I also can't justify having a party just for Eric's side of the family so now it's turned into something bigger than I anticipated. Really, I would love to wear my dress again. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of just wearing it around his parents house, but se le vie.
Thanks for your comments, I did not mean to come across as ungrateful as you portrayed me. I think all us Disney brides get frustrated sometimes and I have always been able to come here and vent a little, knowing that others share in my frustration.
Thanks for not being offended by my comment. Just a couple of things:
1. I didn't portray you as ungrateful. I just responded to you. I don't think I put words in your mouth.
2. Maybe your MIL is just responding to what she preceives as your style of planning? You guys have switched things up quite a bit, so its reasonable to think she thought you were continuing to be open to new ideas about an at home reception, since you'd been opent to lots of new ideas about the wedding and reception itself. You've only just recently really started settling on ideas. Maybe you can tell her, look now that we're finally really making up our minds, I'd like to keep from chaning plans again?
3. If DH's grandma asked me to stand in a cow patty so that she could see my dress, I'd do it. If she asked me to put my gown on and have a pretend tea party with my dollies, I'd do it. I would bend over backwards. I'm glad to hear you're willing to do whatever it takes to honor your fiancee's grandma, and not get annoyed with her over things your MIL is doing. We hired a videographer just so that his grandparents could see our wedding. We also had replicas of my wedding bouquet delivered to each grandma on our wedding day and called them immediately after the ceremony. I think its so nice that you've hired the videogapher! I'm glad to hear you're planning a celebration that includes Eric's grandmother.
Good luck and best wishes on a strong and healthy marriage!

I am not being harsh but even his parents said, she is almost 95 years old...she may not be here when we get married :(
(
Oh wow. How can you not think that's being harsh?
If that's the case, why don't you get your dress on now, go to her house and give her the thrill of seeing you in it? You were keen enough to show it (and a million other multi-colored wedding things) off to a bunch of strangers on this site ASAP, but you can't take a couple of hours out of your life to do it for your DF's beloved grandmother who is broken-hearted she can't see her favorite grandchild get married?
As you'll already know from experience, when you marry someone, you marry into their family, whether you like them or not. That means sometimes having to do something you'd really rather not, or putting up with the behavior of people you don't particularly like, for the greater good and the love of your OH. All while having the good grace not to whine about it to people, either IRL or on the internet. It's also part of being a mature, well-rounded adult.
I wish you and Eric the best with your marriage.

Morning girls! We had dinner with my brother last night and it was so nice to have him home!! He had been traveling for like 3 days straight so we didn't spend too much time together but I am headed to my parents today too!
I ended up buying the 3rd necklace. I think I actually liked the first one best BUT I need to be practical. The third necklace I think I can wear with more stuff than just that dress (like to work) Plus it was only $12!!!
I am thinking of buying a cute red bracelet to go with it though
I also bougth one of these:

We've got just about a month till our Planning Session and E-Pics so we are going to kick it up in the Get Healthy department. More working out and eating better. I have lost about 5 lbs since I started trying to eat better but being sick last week TOTALLY threw me off.
I also finished the first draft of our ceremony but not sure if I am going to post it yet. Have a good weekend girls!!

That hanger is awesome!!! I just love etsy. And wtg with the 5 lbs. It's always good to get healthy. Helpful tip: eat more uncooked foods. I was just reading about this yesterday, and it takes way more calories to digest the food, so you're burning more, but eating the same. Easy way to burn cals! (And in a super dorky way I was reading it from a scientific pov, because I'm a super geek! :goodvibes: )
Also way to be practical. $12 is awesome!! I have to learn to be that way. Right now I'm just trying to stop spending so much money on food!

Time for me to play catch up!!
I think the part I bolded above should be replaced with "any bride." LOL.
He refuses to do a first look. I really want to see him first and do pictures but he is insisting that we wait until the ceremony actually starts. I get it...I know he wants to be traditional I just wish he would agree with me lol :lmao:
I was so happy we did most of our pictures before the ceremony. The night before the wedding I stayed at a hotel (the same one as all of my relatives) and my DH stayed at our apartment (where were lived at the time.) We didn't see each other until right before pictures started. I was in the "brides room" by myself and they sent my DH in to see me, alone, before photos started. It was lovely.
Yea it kinda sucks doesn't it?? Lol oh well...on to searching for a venue!!
That's what I thought...it's one of the only reason we got a videographer. She will have to settle for watching it when we get home. I am not being harsh but even his parents said, she is almost 95 years old...she may not be here when we get married :(
Thanks Sam! I will definitely go check it out. I checked a local party house...not MY first choice but they offer a brunch menu for only $15 per person!! Good enough for me!!
Lol it's not that I don't want to wear my dress again...just not walking around his parents house in with no one there :rotfl:
I also see the appeal of waiting till we walk down the aisle but I just thought we have so much time with Randy.
Speaking of Randy, I just got an email back from him saying that even though we will only have him till 6:30ish he thinks 6 hours will work just fine and during our e-shoot next month he will go over it a bit more for us :)
On a side note...my sinus infection is back. I went to the RUDEST dr. today and got more antibiotics...which I have been told to finish this time. I have been out of work for 2 days and will have to go back tomorrow :(
Why was the doctor so rude? I've had a few rude doctors before and it sucks.
In order for Eric's Grandma to see your dress, maybe she can go to your final fitting or something and then to lunch afterwards?
Thanks!! I can't wait either :)
So I have been trying to figure out what to wear for our e-pics. I had purchased a cute denim skirt last week and was going to find a bright colored top for it. Until my mom got this for me!

I don't think my DH was too picky about what style dress I was in. I do know that he would have been a little sad if I'd chosen an non-white dress though. Luckily, I chose white and he did like my dress. Afterwards I showed him photos of me in other dresses I tried on. He said I made the right choice. :)
I will say that I went dress shopping many, many times. I fell in love with my dress pretty quickly. But I still ended up going back and trying on other dresses on many occasions before making my final decision/purchase. Even though I went a ton of times, I still wish I'd gone a few more since I'll never do it again.

Time for me to play catch up!!
That sounds lovely!! He is sticking to his guns though!:rotfl:
Why was the doctor so rude? I've had a few rude doctors before and it sucks.
I think she was just irritated in general that I was back and still sick. Doesn't matter, I wont' be going there anymore!
In order for Eric's Grandma to see your dress, maybe she can go to your final fitting or something and then to lunch afterwards?
Oh that's an idea! She lives kind of far from me and the bridal shop though. Something to think about!
Will you still be able to see the name on the hanger even with your dress on it? I hope so.
I thought about that too! I haven't checked yet. I still think it's a cute little hanger for something!
Hopefully you don't lose TOO MUCH weight. Otherwise your dress won't fit! LOL.
Lol I don't seem to be running into that problem! But hopefully I do...that's what final fittings are for!!

Lol I would go dress shopping every weekend if I could!! Df wouldn't have been happy either if I got a dress that wasn't white (or ivory). I can't wait to show it to him!!
I'm starting to gather pictures to bring to my planning session...I will post some if I have time.

I have had bad luck with female doctors for some reason. I have no idea why but that's just the way it's been. Weird.
Maybe you should take the dress to her house and put it on for her just with you, her, and your FMIL. Then have lunch or something. That way you can avoid a big party. Maybe even do it before the wedding. And then if she's interested you can share some of your wedding plans. Even if she can't go, maybe she'd want to be a part of the planning in a small way. I don't know. Just throwing out ideas. Lol.

I like the lingerie idea!
Didn't you find another dress right after you bought the one you have? While "dress envy" may be common, maybe you really want a different dress???
Have you thought of having two dresses? You could get a new one for the ceremony (especially since I think you mentioned you were worried about your dress fitting in with the WP) and then wear the other for the reception. Heck, I saw someone on Say Yes to the Dress get THREE dresses for her WDW wedding.

I don't think two dresses is really necessary. You can just put that money else where in your wedding/honeymoon. I think her dress is perfect and flattering, especially with her Hollywood glam accessories. As for fitting the venue, I don't think the Wedding Pavilion asserts any particular theme, if you will. It is a classic venue which is pretty much a clean slate. I have seen pictures of it bedecked with fantasy-type florals and other photos with a very modern, streamlined feel. Really, any dress/style will fit. The issue I find with the Wedding Pavilion is bridesmaid dresses clashing with the oh-so-icky carpeting they have there! :rotfl:

I thought they were going to change the carpet? I thought I saw another bride post that?
At one time I thought the birdcage veil was pretty, but I think a fingertip or elbow veil would actually be better with your dress. You can remove it and wear the feather for the reception, but somehow, I get the feeling Eric (with all his traditional ideas) is looking forward to lifting the blusher.

Oh I don't if they are changing the carpet! I wonder what they would change it too.
I have tried on several veils and while I liked the cathedral length, once I put it together it just wasn't me. I definitely liked the birdcage the best and I am sure Eric will be fine with it.
There have been several comments about how I am going to dissapoint Eric...I guess I don't get it. While I don't think my dress is what he imagined, I don't think he will be dissapointed...by that or my choice of accessories. Did other people have grooms that were dissapointed in their choices?:confused3
Honestly, the way I see it, it is your day (as much as it is his). Show who you are, and wear what you want. I don't even care what DF thinks about what I am wearing...because I know he won't even think about judging what I am wearing....he will just be happy we are in disney getting married. I am sure your DF will be the same as well!
Sorry, a bit of a rampage....but I just think in general, you should always dress for yourself, not other people (especially on your wedding day). Some brides may feel differently, and that is fine, it is their choice....but don't let it influence yours:goodvibes I think a big thing I have learned over the past couple years is that I can listen to other peoples opinions, but I can't let them run my life!

I don't think you are going to disappoint him...I said that DH wouldn't have cared what I wore..only that I was there. I just was thinking with all his very traditional ideas of weddings (big poofy dress, not having a reveal, not being together the day of the wedding) he would enjoy a blusher. Really, I don't think grooms notice the little things we sweat over..DH said he thought I looked amazing walking down the aisle, but it was the overall thing..not that I was wearing my grandmothers crystals, or my veil piece had the same pearl design as my dress..know what I mean? Just the whole package..so I don't think he would be disappointed unless you walked down the aisle in street clothes or some weird, Fredrick's of Hollywood corset thing.
A cathedral veil is VERY heavy I think..I originally was going to wear the short veil I had from our original wedding but changed to the fingertip and glad I did..it made for some great shots with the deck breeze.

First off, I love birdcage veils. They are so stylish and sleek, and very fitting with your dress, which I feel has a more modern (the pleating in the front) yet vintage (the beaded band along the waist) style. Because of this, it is a perfact dress for the Hollywood glam accessories. I love it! :thumbsup2
And I don't think Betsy was suggesting you would disappoint your finacee, rather he seems to enjoy some of those more traditional elements during a wedding, which is perfectly fine. This is, after all, the only wedding he will be having from here on out!
If you think he would enjoy the blusher type veil, incorporate in a different part of the day. For example, considering all of the lingerie talk we have been having lately (:rotfl:), find a cute/sexy/whatever your style little negligee for yourself (and for pictures with that hanger, of course!) and buy a cheap little blusher veil to wear with it on your wedding night. ;) I see this a lot in boudoir pictures that women often make for their husbands as their wedding gifts, and they always turn out fabulous! This way, your wedding night will be just as memorable as the wedding day for him!

Before our wedding, I'm sure my husband would have imagined me in a strapless dress. But I tried on strapless and they just didn't look right on me. I ended up going with halter. I found it was most flattering. So while I did keep my husband in mind while picking out dresses, I definitely went with what I thought looked best (and what I was comfortable in.)
Do you have pictures of your veil? I'm sorry but I have the worst memory.

It's a good thing my husband didn't request cleavage with my dress because that just wouldn't be possible. Lol.
Ok so I know I posted earrings a bit ago that my mom bought me, but I'm not sold on them yet. I found these on Etsy and can't get them out of my head. What do you think??

Honestly, I think the ones your mom picked out are prettier and more elegant.

I love that he wants to be involved AND wants to add the pink back in. I like the last two flowers, the second to last incorporates the blue and pink in the bouquet, but the last, you could use the pink flowers with a blue ribbon.
PrincessShea did pink and purple petals of two different flowers that I thought looked beautiful.
I have to agree, I have had the hardest time finding earrings and a necklace as well.

Oh I did like hers too! I am just being careful so that the pink and blue doesn't look too baby showerish.
It's so hard to find stuff because you never know. I seem to have more luck online but then I have to try it with the dress. It's like the veil. I loved the cathedral length but once I put everything together I didn't like it.
I like the idea of the last bouquet with a blue ribbon! Thanks!

I was worried about the baby shower look too, my original colors were pool blue with accents of fuchsia and mango, but as planning has gone along it has developed into pool blue and fuchsia as the two main colors with miniscule touches of mango (pretty much just my bouquet and the bouts). The Blue and Pink will look just fine and I don't think of a baby shower when I look at it, plus you'll have the green to break up everything.

The earring your Mom picked out are much nicer IMO. The etsy ones look cheap and poorly made. Your Mom brought you earrings, stick with them.
I agree.
Mandy, honestly you should think hard before buying anything else. You keep changing your plans and while it's your prerogative, you are wasting money. Yes, it may just be $15, but if you keep buying little things, they add up. Plus, don't you think your mom might be annoyed that she bought something and you are going to use something else? Unless you can take them back, you are now wasting her money.
It's funny you should say that Eric wants to be more involved, because every time you post something, you state that Eric "fell in love" with it. It seems like he has already been more than involved. That said, I'm glad you are letting him have the pink he wanted from the start. Well, that was he choice after the original yellow and green he wanted.
I do agree that the reception can be different from the wedding, so you don't have to worry about matching.

Thanks for sharing that with me. BTW, I seriously love how mango and pink look together! I just got off the phone with my mom and she agreed that if we do it in the right way it won't be too baby showerish. She liked some of the bouquets but is going to help me look through more pictures before we leave for the PS. I am not sold on anything yet, although I am bit partial to the pics I posted :)

I was thinking how everything kind of matches up. Moh in green and pink...BM with green tie and pink bout. Eric in pink tie with blue bout, me in white (obviously) lol, and my bouquet in blue and pink (Probably with a bit of green too!).

That's why your MIL thinks its ok for things to evolve- you're always changing things! :lmao:
Earrings aren't as cute as the ones your mom bought.
Pink and blue do look baby showerish. I'd scrap the blue shoes, since that's the only blue you're committed to at this point other than the invites which really don't matter to the look and feel of the day. Plus blue shoes would be kind of distracting, they're not a "pop" of color when they're the only color, kwim? They'll really stick out in pictures. Maybe silver or something neutral if you don't want white. The other option would be to keep the green and use a very bright pink instead of a softer pink. Three colors together are ok if they really compliment each other, but that green and that blue and that pink don't, IMHO.
The blue flowers in the bout are delphinium. I had them in my wedding bouquet.
I'll be interested to see how your veil looks with the dress. I don't think they match all that well just looking at the pics. They're both vintage but they look like they're from different eras. I saw an epi of Say Yes to the Dress where a bride wore a birdcage veil, but her dress was very tailored so it looked more pillbox hat-y, if that makes sense. Hopefully your ability to envision is better than mine ;)

For what its worth, I think the blue, green and pink will look great together and you still have time to play with the shades if you start to feel like its going in the baby shower direction.
I think the dress and the veil are a good match. I'm not a historian so I haven't a clue if they appear to be from the same era - but as long as none of your guests are major history buffs, who will ever know anyway?! I think what matters is they are both very "you" and they both have the glamorous, dramatic look that I think you're going for. You love them and you'll feel great in them and be happy when you look back at your wedding photos later. I'd call that a win.
As far as the earrings I'd say go with whichever ones look best with the dress. (I could be wrong but) from what I remember of your mom buying you the earrings, it wasn't like she went out and carefully chose a pair and gave them to you as a surprise, but more like you two were at DB together, you saw them and liked them, and basically on a whim she paid for them for you at the register. Which is very sweet! But I TOTALLY don't think, if that's the case, that she will mind if you end up not wearing them. Also, she's your mom, she knows you, she knows you've made some changes and I'm sure she assumes there are more to come. Kudos to the person who can plan a wedding WITHOUT making changes! (I've been avoiding updating my own PJ for ages because of all the changes we've already made!)

What if you did the pink and green during the ceremony and then when you get to the tamu tamu reception do bright greens and blues. I think the pink and green would look very classy and chic in the WP and i think the bright jewel toned blues and green (think peacock) would look awesome in tamu tamu!!

I say who cares about an exact "color scheme." Do colors you like that look good together. Don't get too stuck on a scheme. Do as many colors/shades as you like if they look nice together. Don't feel like you have to be tied to only pink/green/blue. Sometimes I find weddings that stick to a strict color scheme just look way too matchy matchy/1980's. Especially if it's all the exact same shade of one specific color (like teal or something.)

Thanks! I agree with you on the style of my wedding…no one will notice or probably care too much. I love what I have so far and I think that’s all that counts. Plus Eric loves what we’ve picked out together.
You are right about my mom. We did kind of randomly pick them out and she wanted to pay for them. We do it all the time. She also said if they don’t work we would just bring them back (or use them for something else…we love jewelry!!)

Seriously Katie…we are on the same wavelength lately!!! We were just talking about this earlier! My mom and I even said peacock feathers!!! I think right now even though I really wanted a bright vibrant bouquet, I am stuck on a soft pink peony bouquet. I think it’s very romantic and vintagey!
As far as the earrings…no one would even know if I Changed them I think, lol

Just been catching up. I think a birdcage is definately the way to go with your dress. All the earrings you've picked out have been lovely.
My DF hates pink, I wonder what he'd have said if i'd wanted pink flowers. I don't think it matters if your blue shoes are the only blue, in fact it might be better as they'll really stand out.
I think peacock feather colour's at the reception would be gorgeous.

Oh my I'm behind again...it was so much easier when I wasn't working at a place that doesn't allow us to be on the internet...unless it is for work reasons! :surfweb:
Anywho...Here is my catch up...
The colors: Girl you kill me! I'm proud of your DF for being strong enough to wear pink! :thumbsup2 You can make the pink/periwinkle/green combo work...I love the peonies and roses! (if I wasnt so set on red roses I would have used peonies...love the look!) You have your blue shoes...and that counts as your something blue...
Earrings...I'm torn...I like the etsy ones...I'm ok with the ones your mom got...I think the etsy ones match the dress a bit better (again my opinion) So, here is my compromise...Wear the etsy ones for the wedding...and the one's your mom got you for the rehearsal or reception. There beest of both worlds! :dance3:

I think the first one of your bouquets is gorgeous and fits with the MOH bouquets perfectly. That last one is amazing too. I think it could be for either one of us. If you want pink in it you could put pink ribbon around the stems. You could do that with any of these really.
Also, I think that your dress looks white because of the flash. It washes the color out.

They really are. I'm not really sure what he meant, I was a little afraid to ask and I've been planning on gray BM dresses, so I was thinking gray for the guys...didn't have the heart to tell him that though. Well he was just in his sister's wedding and the tuxes were black with black ties and vests, so he thought that was too bland and he needs a little pizazz for his.
You and your MOH look beautiful in your dresses! They will look fantastic once they really fit you guys. Your hair looked really pretty up, but I know what you mean, as much as I really like some of the updo's, it just isn't me.

I love the green and white bouquet for you...if you do a pale pink, it would be pretty...or do you want bright..I am so confused again!:rotfl:

oh..we have a gardenia bush and while I LOVE them, they bruise if you look at them sideways...if you are planning on photos for any length of time before the ceremony, be aware of that..they are worse then hydrangeas.

Those are very pretty!! The white is actually for Lauren (Jazzylol...MOH). We decided her dress just does better with white then colors.
I have absolutely fallen in love with pink peonies BUT my mom made a great point when she said that Fuschia would go well with Eric so I am open to either. I just love pink:lovestruc

I showed my mom the bouquets and she said she likes the white and blue one but thinks I should go with fuschia to match Eric's tie. Here are a few I found... I have to admit I :lovestruc pink!!

I kinda like this with a mix of pale and fuschia:

So of the really bright pinks I like that one the best. I do love the pale with fuschia one too though. I think either would work. You could even put a fuschia ribbon around the pale and fuschia bouquet to pull the tie in a little bit more.

No, not in the photo. I had just taken them off when we took the photo. WHEN I have them on the dress is the perfect length.
Okay, good. I was a little worried. LOL!

It's listed online as an Orchid. Not sure if it's real or fake...I wouldn't mind silk bout's for the men!

We did all silks at our wedding. It turned out really nice. And we didn't have to worry about things wilting. I know some people hate silk flowers and think they are tacky but I am happy we did it. And I still have my bouquet and it looks just as great now as it did then.

I’m a google fiend!! You just have to play with the way you search for things…you never know what you will find! The bouts are from Etsy.
