My kodak M883 battery charger died and we have an upcoming trip. Has anyone ever bought an equivalent battery/charger from any of the
cpmpanies on Amazon that come up when you search for a product ( like Tech-fuel)? There is a huge difference in price.
Are they the same, just off brand or am I wasting my time and money.

I don't know about Amazon, but I did buy a backup battery for my camcorder from a vendor on Ebay. I'm sorry I don't remember the name but he had thousands of batteries and other camera accessories. Maybe the name is on my Paypal account. I could check for you. The battery was very reasonably priced and was a generic, but it worked very good. It actually had a longer battery life than the original battery we received with the camcorder.
Update-I did find the transaction from back in Jan. I paid $13.80 for a Sony Handycam battery. The name on the transaction was itrimming dot com. Hope this helps, someone here gave me this info back in Jan.

I do a search on the company before ordering any off brand charger. I'm surprised you're not able to find a decent priced Kokak charger, I seem to be able to find them regularly at stores and Disney (well at least you can pay Disney prices if it turns out to be a bad one...). I'm having a heck of a time finding a fuji charger, nothing less than like 40$.

Kodak brand I can get a charger for $40 and a battery for $30. On Amazon I can get a battery and rapid charger for $30. I want the external charger not one that plugs into the camera so I can leave one battery in the room charging if I need to.

I've bought generic batteries for my digital camera on Ebay when I couldn't find the one I needed at Radio Shack. They are very cheap (as well as chargers, car chargers, etc.) and seem to work just as well as the originals. You might try Radio Shack if you need it right away, or order from someone on Ebay if you can wait. A lot of the time, these items are shipped from Hong Kong. Just a precaution though-I don't know if they are UL listed or would be as "safe" as the originals. I never leave them plugged in when I'm not home.

Good advice on the UL. I think I feel pretty confident in the cheaper ones now.

I didn't look on here for your brand, but I found batteries for my Pentax for 21 cents!!! Shipping was something like $4 each, but that was still a ton cheaper than the batteries cost normally. The brand was something like Minolta, but they worked wonderfully.

isn't minolta a very old camera maker?? Well I know they make digital SLRs, but they're not quite as good as the competition.
I bought a battery from batteries plus. It wasn't as cheap as some online, but I'm not a fan of buying online or waiting like 2 weeks for it to come in.

I'm going to move this over the Photography board. Hopefully the OP will get some more opinions and ideas from the shutterbugs there.

Minolta was bought out by Sony, but before that Minolta cameras were every bit as good as the competition
