We were our own country at one time. Just put us between the US and Mexico. And you can raise all six of our flags. Plus we have the 15th largest GDP in the world, I think that should qualify us. I think we could manage to get the sponsorships also to make it happen. :cool1: .
If not then please Disney build a new park in North Texas. I can't believe in all this time you haven't taken advantage of building a park in the middle of the US.:confused3 We got the largest airport in the US and plenty of land. If you build it they will come.

Well you can also state that anything beyond the original 13 colonies were their own country at some point :dance3: So does that mean anything beyond the 13 get a spot?

The 1964 New York Worlds Fair (where Walt probably got the idea for Epcot) had some pavilions for states as well as for other countries.
Is central Texas more or less brutally hot and humid compared with central Florida? I remember one visit to Texas (east; Houston) during an early September heat wave.
But I think that hot climate did not faze Walt back in the 1960's when he was looking for the site for WDW. I doubt he would have located the parks in a snowy part of the country, though.

To the OP:
Really? Texas is represented with the other 49 states in The American Adventure. So it's already part of World Showcase, along with New Hampshire, Louisiana, California, etc. You can only do so much with one pavillion.

The Houston area is hot and humid and smells of sulphur cause of all the oil refineries. The Dallas area is just hot without the humid part and doesn't smell. The difference from Florida and North Texas (DFW metro area), is that Florida is sub tropics with rain everyday. In Texas we get some rain and it comes fast and heavy, but blows through rather quickly and sometimes with some strength (ever heard of Texas Twisters?). But then it goes away and the skies return to normal. Also North Texas is protected from Hurricanes, they never blow up that far into Texas.
I was thinking build the park somewhere to the North of Dallas. There is lots of land between there and Oklahoma (Indian Country) you can buy on the cheap and still be pretty close to the airport.
We get on average 2 days of snow a year, and it is just lite snow. But it does start to get cold by the start of November. The temps usually stay in 40-50s range until March comes along then starts heating up until mid summer averages of 90-100s.

A visit to the Texas pavillion:
"Oh look, sand! Oh look, a cactus!"...
"Oh look, an oil well, oh look, cow dung!"...
"Why are we in frontierland??"

I love the idea of a Texas pavilion.
France has the Eiffel Tower, Mexico has the Mayan pyramid, China has the Temple of Heaven...Texas could have a giant oil rig in front of it.
The Kidcot Fun Stop can be located in a trailer. You can have some tumbleweeds rolling around. A beer kiosk could serve Bud Light. For entertainment, you can have an hourly mock electrocution or lethal injection of somebody dressed in a prison outfit.
A gift shop can sell oversized cowboy hats, "Don't Mess With Texas" bumper stickers and those bumper guards with silhouettes of naked women you see on big rigs driving down the highway.
On your way out, you can even get a souvenir gun.
Yee haw!!!

From a distance some people might confuse France with Texas. The Eiffel tower does look similar to an old-fashioned oil rig.
To differentiate, how about making the oil rig spray like you saw in the old movies every so often? :rotfl:

Instead of the (six flags like) oil derrick you could use an oil pump which is much more common a site now a days.

But more important would be a super-sized Alamo.

and an arena with live rodeo shows.

Bud Light is popular drink in Texas, but more "Texan" would be Shiner Bock

or Lone Star. And don't forget about a good BBQ resteraunt. If the Alamo didn't bring em in the smell of the BBQ definately would.
Also you would need some Texas Rangers walking around to keep the peace.

Sounds like a great idea! Plano is 10 minutes from my house :)
I'm generally not a secessionist, but the appeal of finally being able to control the border does hold a certain appeal. :worship:
DD's nursery had a mural of (among other world sites) the Eiffel Tower. One day we drove past an especially tall oil derrick when she was a toddler and she pointed and said, "Look....The Eiffel Tower!" :rotfl2:
Personally, I'd like to see Russia as a new country in Epcot. Then I could get some decent pelmini and solyanka.

You could make a similar list for any state in the union. Build a replica of the LA state capital (the tallest of the 50 by the way), build a bayou pirogue ride, serve crawfish and Abita and Dixie beer and you have a Louisiana pavillion.
Louisiana was once half this country, so it should be part of world showcase, right? Well it is, along with Texas and all the other states as a part of the American Adventure. Despite delusions to the contrary, Texas is not more special than the other 49.

well disney was supposed to build a Disney park up by me in NJ, but apparently they didn't. There has been talk about doing that for years and years. I personally think that would be a very stupid idea. I would love having it up here, but the park would only be open like 4 - 5 months out of the year? And what fun would that be? Plus, we have Philly like 20 mins away and Disney has a Philly pavilion in EPCOT, so yea. No point.

You started it. Dallas is hot and smells of cheap perfume and botox. Only Pasadena stinks of sulpher, not all of Houston.
