We are planning a trip NEXTSept 25 to Oct 4. We aren't sure where we want to stay....it really depends on what deals comes out. When do the 'deal' typically come out for that time frame? I know it is usually free dining during that time.
Our dates as of right now are pretty flexible until Jan (that's when vacation ballots have ot go in).
So who do you book with? AAA? Disney? Travel Agent? and why?

That's free Dining time. There are other deals normally too, and sometimes getting a room discount works out to more money than the free dining.
Free dining is really only a deal if you stay in value or moderate resorts. If you are going for a deluxe, try and get AAA or another discount :thumbsup2

Once you get your time off request approved, I'd call and make the reservations, then when a discount comes up, you can apply it to your ressie. But don't make it through the net, I've had problems with applying a discount after booking online. It had to get cancelled and booked again.
I've read that some TA will do this for you if you book through them. But I never mind calling Disney, and being on hold is quite fun till they answer in the middle of a good song.

:headache: Why do they ALWAYS do that? So frustrating....
Sometimes I wonder if they are sitting there listening to see if you are singing along and grooving then they cut you off.... :sad2:
:rotfl:
Star, I wish I could help you but all of our trips have been booked through DVC... so I am pretty much useless... pirate:

Starr, check Debs site allearsnet.com and mousesavers.com
I know one of them has a "historical" look at which discounts were offered in which month going back for at least a few years. I haven't used it since we moved here 5 years ago, and don't remember which site has it (maybe the both do) but I know I found it really useful for trip planning when we didn't live here.
Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

Some travel agents will keep an eye out for new discounts that come out that might apply to your reservation, once it is booked, and let you know if they can get you a better deal for the same dates. (Dreams Unlimited is one of them, but I'm sure there are others who do the same.) It saves you from having to keep track of new discounts as they come out.

That is what I was going to say! Also, call and see if you have a pin code with your name. Or look in the paper in your travel section and in the Disney ads they sometimes have codes printed.
I never booked with an agent. It always came out much cheaper by calling direct.
And I kinda hate to say I have never had a good experience with Dreams Unlimited. I have given them many chances to redeem themselves and they just never do. They are either priced so high they are out of the galaxy or they do not even respond.
