I placed an order for a Canon 50D w/ the Canon 17-55mm F2.8 IS. Oh wait, I forgot I "don't" know about this! See it's going to be a wonderful bday present from my future wife. So....what camera? I don't know of any camera. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

I can't wait to just go on a walking trip around the local park and test it out! I'm most excited about the low light capabilities. Being able to use ISO3200 which looks equivalent to my old S3IS's ISO 400 is crazy. Couple that with a wider angle constant F2.8 aperture and I'm hoping for some great low light shots that would have bee impossible before. Hope one day I can get an even quicker prime...all in time.

well a one man party with a new camera is better than a one man party with out a new camera right?:)
congrats on the camera. any camera related gift i get from the hub is never a real surprise since i have to either give him a detailed description or order it myself but at least i get what i want that way;)

I know EXACTLY what you mean! And I also agree, I don't mind "buying" my gift myself one bit. I don't need a surprise, the anticipation is enough!

Nothing wrong with "helping" your wife (or future wife!) find the perfect gift for you :) I usually just send mine links to Amazon, B&H, eBay, etc.

Nice setup coming your way.. you will love that lens, stabilized f/2.8 is SO nice for low light!

Thanks Todd_H, if I remember correctly you shoot with a Canon as well. I've been very impressed with some of your work you've posted here. If I have any questions about the camera I'm sure you'll hear from me ;). Hope you don't mind.
