Anyone available on Sat to get together and hangout for a bit? Could be something simple at DTD or Boardwalk that doesn't require a park ticket.

Mel, Although at this point I'm not in the RFTT, I'd be up for a chance to meet some WISHers.
DH and I are participating in Expedition Everest Challenge, and I'm undecided (don't wanna get up that early) about RFTT. However, I'm always interested in a meet.

I took the leap and registered today... I hope I can keep the 15 min pace!!! I'm ok w/ 15.30 or 16 but 15 and below can be a struggle for me...

I like the Boardwalk or DD idea. I'll probably visit EP that day so Boardwalk would work out well for me...then I would have the chance to see that area. I think it is so pretty... I'm glad this race goes around the Boardwalk area!

I'm up for whatever... I'm a loner this trip. Just let us know!

I am pretty sure we will be able to come down for RFFT (as long as my grandmother does well with surgery Thursday and we don't have to get to FL earlier for some reason).

How about Big River Grille for the meet? Just a suggestion since Beaches N Cream is WAY too tempting for me and I love the Boardwalk area.

I will be in DTD shopping Saturday evening so if you do the meet there I will be sure to stop and say hello.
And I have a question: how big or small is the expo for this race? Do they sell t-shirts, hats, etc??
Thanks

Depending on where it's held we may be able to attend. We are doing the KTTK tour on Saturday and I've read you are on your feet all day.

This is towards the end of our trip so I'm sure talking to other people will be a welcomed addition to our trip. :thumbsup2

Is this the tour of the MK or EP, MK and HS??? We did the tour that went to EP, MK, and HS...and it was great fun! You are on you feet a lot, but it's really not that bad... You are on the bus a lot too... No matter which one, hope you guys have a great time!

I vote for somewhere I have a nice "night before the race" meal. After working out an itinerary yesterday, it appears I'm going to the MK that day so I can meet wherever.

Has anyone thought about a food court? Maybe the All Star Sports food court? I know it's on the list as one of the recommended lodging places, but not sure how many folks are staying there...

Just let me know when and where and I'll try to make it...

I'm this close | | to signing up for the race. If so, we might be able to meet up with everyone.

Pat, airfare from LIT to MCO is ~$350/pp for us. However, flying into Tampa is a lot cheaper. Could you do that by chance?

It's just the tour in the MK. It's like 5 hours and I've heard you are on your feet the whole time. No matter we will do our best to get to a meet.

That's a great idea Susie, but I don't drive outside of my comfort zone, and Tampa to Orlando is definitely outside! You should go for it though - last chance at that medal is hard to pass up.

Thanks Tracy! I am really excited about this unexpected bonus trip.

Was a decision made about the Saturday meet? I'd prefer something in the Boardwalk area since I will probably be at MGM during the day - maybe Big River Grille or ESPN....or how about meeting outside the Boardwalk Bakery? They have a nice outdoor seating area, and the water makes a nice meet photo background. Then if people want a quick bite they can grab deli stuff at the bakery or head to one of the restaurants for a more substantial meal.

Oooooo... I did that tour last year (during Goofy weekend, I think) and really enjoyed it. It was not as much standing as I had feared -- but I'm sure it varies with the tour director. Hope you have a great experience too!

EDIT: No -- last year I did the multipark tour -- the KTTK (MK) tour does have you on your feet alot, but I loved it too! Lots of backstage viewing and insider stuff. Enjoy!!

Man, I would love to see you guys but my flight (Woot for Ding fares!) doesn't get in until 4PM on Saturday (so it would be 5PM or so before I got to the World), then I fly out at o-dark-thirty on Monday morning (Columbus Day). If anyone is hanging around Sunday, though, maybe we can grab a bite somewhere. Or hang out by the pool? Anybody?

If the time you decide to meet on Saturday allows me to come, I'll be there. I suspect an earlier meet time may suit everyone better though. Hopefully I'll see some of you before/during/after the race. (The "picnic" postrace tends to be a zoo -- but at least it means some of you fast folks may still be around when I finish! :goodvibes) I'm so sorry to have missed a chance to share a room with my favorite Pop buddy, Pat. (This time my roomie will be a Disney Dead who was generous enough to offer me a share of her room.) But at least I'll get to see Pat (and many others) at Disneyland in a very short while. WISH reunion! Yay!

Pat, dang! Wish you could do MNSSHP on the ToT trip -- That's the only time I can do it. For this trip, flying out Monday was cheaper than flying out Sunday -- so my trip is Saturday late afternoon to Monday morning, which means Sunday is my "play day."

Don't worry Tracy - I didn't take it as you making it sound like nothing - more an observation about how this adventure is all relative! And, after getting up several years in a row at 2AM to catch the 3AM bus for the January races, the RftT will seem a lot more relaxed.

I agree! And we're staying at BCV,so the Boardwalk would certainly be more convenient.

Too early to call "This poll will close on 09-07-2009 at 07:56 PM"

You make me laugh and laugh and laugh.

I don't care where we meet -- just stay there long enough for me to get there! I can see me sweating it out at the ME line now -- "No, I have a MEETING to go to -- this bus has got to pull out of here NOW!!!" :rotfl:

Of course, now that it appears to be at the Bakery, it'll be 6PM before I can get there from AStarSp, I'm sure. Phooey!

oops, my bad. Just was trying to get it all finalized. So its a tie now, so maybe if it stays a tie then there could be another pole between the two??

Just found this thread, wondering if you mind if my DD11 and I join you. We are doing the 3K (we have to start somewhere) and would love to meet up with others. Anyone staying at OKW? I need to figure out transportation the morning of the race, any suggestions?

Ummm, side note: the Boardwalk Bakery has the BEST Peanut Butter Pie.

Cindy, glad you can join us. The 3K is a great race for starters! See you at the bakery. (Gotta stay away from the Peanut Butter Pie. Must stay away from the Peanut Butter Pie. No Peanut Butter Pie. Well, maybe a bite. :teeth:)

I'll be arriving Friday afternoon. That's in 3 days. Woohoo! Pat, Steve and I are going to be at MNSCHP on Friday night. Anyone else going? Pat will probably have a WISH shirt on. I'll try to wear one as well. One thing's for sure....you can't miss the LIME GREEN.

SO glad to see someone else is doing the 3K! I'll be running it, along with my DD9 and DS6. I'd offer you a ride, but the 3 of us will be in my Honda Fit, and I don't think you'd... um... fit (for lack of a better word) very comfortably. But if you're still without a ride come Saturday, please come talk to me at the Bakery. For such a short distance, we could probably manage to have 5 people in the car.

I might make it on Saturday, though... it depends how the day progresses!

I am so disappointed I missed the WISH meet today. We were running a little behind and when we got to the Boardwalk parking was a nightmare. I have never been there before so I did not realize how awful parking was going to be. We only planned to stay for a little while because I had other plans so we ended up looping the parking lot several times and then having to leave. I hope to see several of you tomorrow morning.

We missed you! Scott, Lynn, Linda, and I went over Epcot for F&W after the meet. Saw Chris & his wife too.

I know parking has been a nightmare with MLB playoffs and College football!

I can't wait till I have my hat in shirt so I can wear at least one of them in my races. I tried to approach any WISH people I saw and introduce myself. It was great to talk to those that I did get to come across. Everyone is so friendly and didn't seem to mind me sparking up a conversation while on the run. Thanks!

Hi all, well, as predicted I wasn't able to make it to the meet (was in Animal Kingdom that day). I saw several green WISH shirts while I was running, but felt too busy huffing and puffing to start introductions and say hello while running! Afterward I didn't even see any WISH shirts in the sea of picnic-attendees.

I will be at the marathon weekend as well, so maybe next time... regardless, it was a great race and congratulations to all! I was a sweaty mess with the heat, but still I loved every minute!

Well, except for the ridiculous lines for the bathroom before the race. At least I made friends with my neighbors standing in that long line. You'd think by now Disney could do the math on how many restrooms are needed for a race of this size!
