General Information:

I just love the surprise swaps here on the board. I love the thrill of “what will it be” in the box anticipation. I also love just being able to create whatever idea I have running in my head or change it. This will be my second swap to host, but my first where I will be mailing everything back to you. If something seems a little off or there is a better way I can do something please just let me know. My goal is to have fun being a part of this swap and making sure it runs smoothly.

The general idea of this swap is to make 5 elements for each group you have signed up for in a particular category. So one element pp in your group. You can use your stash and mix and match your elements or make all 5 identical. You can also mix and match your element choice for each group. Only one thing do not make more than 5 of the same item. Basically if you sign up for 5 different groups in a category do not make 25 of the same element. Also you have the opportunity to use the “pass it forward” concept on our swap board.This opportunity will have its own category. So only use "pass it forward items in the catagory and none of the others. If there is a swap item from previous swaps you have received and you just do not know how to fit it into one of your books you can trade it out here. I am sure someone (me included) would be okay with you passing something they have made to someone else so they may be able to use it. We all have different dynamics to our Disney trips and family life styles so not all our swap items we use can fit into our albums. I do not think there will be any hurt feelings on this idea. I certainly hope not. It is not meant to be thought of that way. Just a way to share more of our talent for others.

**Remember please DO NOT make more than 5 duplicate items per category. You can make 3 of one item and 3 of another if you want to use your stash to fill a group. ** For example you can make 3 titles and 2 paper piecings or all 5 can be different or the same.

Each “group” will consist of 5 elements. If you sign up for 1 group you will make 5 elements to receive 5 back.

You can sign up for as many groups you want in a particular category. When you sign up just put down the Group Name and Letter and let me know how many groups you would like to be in. I will keep a tally and once the swap is closed put every one into their individual groups. This way I can mix us all up in the groupings and we will not have the same people in every group we sign up. We will have some of the same, but not all the same. I know we all love each others work and would like to have something from everyone. When all finalized I will post under each Groups the individual groups and names of those in your group.

After sign-ups, please pm me your name, DIS name, mailing address, email address and phone number when you sign up (I will only use these in an emergency). I will pm everyone with my information for mailing to me.

Mailing Information:
Sign ups on August 15th
Mail Date: November 16th
Due Date: November 23 (arrives at my house)

Since this is my second swap,my first to mail back, I am going to give myself several days to swap out and mail out. I will most likely do it at night after my overactive 3 yr ds goes to bed. So my plan is to have them mailed out on Friday(Nov. 27) and Saturday (Nov.28). I wanted some extra time to re check everything several times to make sure I get it right...

Packaging:

Please place your completed elements in a Ziploc bag labeled with your DIS name, real name, Group number. Place all your baggies for ONE group in a GALLON size bag and labeled the same. Please use a gallon size bag, because your pieces may fit in a smaller bag, but the pieces you are getting back may be bigger.

Postage:
You may send to me, by any method you choose unless you are mailing after November 16th, then, you must mail Priority WITH Delivery Confirmation. I prefer to send to you using flat rate boxes/envelopes. Please include enough postage in your package for return shipping. The rates are: Envelope or Small Box (9”x6”x2”) - $4.95, Standard box – $10.35, Large - $13.95. Please send a return label filled out, so to prevent any mailing errors. If you want your items shipped to you with DC, please include the $.70, and a filled out slip. I will not mail the items back with delivery confirmation unless you include the $.70. And I am not responsible for postal errors.

DO NOT include clik-it/ship-it postage. I will not be able to use it since it is only good on the day it was printed, and from the location it was printed.

Details:

1. Choose a group, or multiple groups.
2. Choose ONE element for each “group” you select – see the list below. Don’t Post your choices of elements. It will be fine if some of the elements duplicate within a group. Just think about what you want to receive back as you make your element selections.
3. You all know the rules of the swaps nothing new on this one. Make your items the kind of quality you would be proud to showcase in your own it
4. There is a category set up where you can "pass it forward" previous swap items.You can take this opportunity and use swap items that you have received from previous swaps here on the board and “pass them forward”. Sometimes we just can not use every wonderful item we get back, so it is nice to be able to pass it onwards, so it may find a home where it would find a place in someones album. These items must follow the element requirements listed. Please use the category for this concept only...not in any of the other categories.

Please note:
• Each item must be embellished at least once. Some suggestions for embellishing are using die cuts, stickers, flock, glitter, ink, chalk, brads, charms, flowers, eyelets, ribbon/fiber, sewing, paper tearing, embossing, stamping, clipart, or additional layers of paper beyone the required double mats. I am sure there are some ideas you may have for embelling that is not listed, so please feel free to share your ideas.
• NO handwritten lettering on any items. Please use computer fonts, rub-ons, stickers or stamps. (you may use glaze pens, stickles, watercolor pencils to enhance your elements on top of the fonts)

Element Choices:

Choice one element from the list below and embellished at least once, you may embellish more if you like.
You may mix and match elements (example: 1 photo mat and 1 journal box = 1 element).

Title/Topper – options include the standard 8x2 (up to 12x2), tag, borders, letters on squares or other shapes, welded letters. Please double-mat or shadow.
Photo Mats: 2PP for a 4 x 6 photo without cropping. Again, two layers as the photo sits on top of these. Please be sure that your embellishment does not infringe upon the placement of the photo.
Journal Box: 2PP at least a 3x3 writing area, triple matted (the writing area is the 3rd layer) and embellished
Tag: 1 PP large tag 4.5-5 inches, 2 pp if smaller, double matted and embellished another way in addition to either ribbon/fiber or eyelet/brad in the hole. May include both....
Embellished shapes: 3PP min. size of 1 ½ x 1 ½ or larger, double matted and embellished. You can use any kind of shape such as flowers, cirles, squares, or whatever your choosing. If you feel the shape would not look write double matted you can add an extra embellishment (ie. inking, tearing, etc) or make an extra shape or throw in something extra.
Slide Mounts: 2PP be creative here please
Matchbooks: 1 PP if medium size or lager, 2 pp if mini sized, embellished. Please make sure to enclose a blank page in the matchbook.
Library Pocket and Tag: 1PP embellished, no smaller than to hold a 2x3 tag embellished and should also have ribbon/fiber or eyelet in the hole
Shaker Box: 1PP be creative please
Paper Piecing: 1PP be creative please (not a single layer die cuts)
License Plate: 1PP be creative please
Signage/Bookmark: 1PP 2x6, double matted and embellished
Song/Lyric/Poem: 1PP, double matted and embellished, print area should be no smaller than 2-1/2 x 2-1/2, can be larger
Altered letter: matted at least 4 inches
Altered Paper Clips: 3 large size ones
ATC: 1pp. Should measure 2.5x3.5. Please be creative and use different mediums to make your ATC. Do not slap a sticker on it and call it done.
Inchies: 1x1 embellished square on chipboard or mat board. 4pp

Check In Dates:

After closing of sign ups(Aug. 21) please verify that I have you in the correct amout of groups for each category you signed up for.
First check in date: September 20 :wizard:

Angels:
I understand completely if something happens during this swap and you need to angel out your spots. Please let me know asap if you see that you will not be able to complete your groups in time. You never know what Life has instore for us when we sign up for our swaps. I diffently know this one this year. If you have some of your groups complete, but not all we can just angel the spots not complete that way you still can be a part of this swap.

Please make sure you check in on the dates listed above. If I do not hear from you a week after the check in date I will angel out your spots, so we can keep things rolling for everyone involved.

Also I would prefer we not post our finished elements in this swap since it main theme is "surprise". I love seeing everything throughout the process, but I want to keep it a "surprise". I will take pictures of every thing made and post pictures after I have mailed off all the boxes.

People have recieved these item from me before, possibly, so I dont understand if its a PIF or new grouping.

Absolutely they are acceptable. I am planning on using some of my new carts for some of my groups. I may "tweek" them a little to give something a little different.

With the help from others I made the PIF its own group, because those getting a spot in that category are taking on a gamble of receiving something they have received before. It was best to leave it in its own group so in other groups people would not be receiving something they have gotten out of another swap. I was asked by another if they could use something like they made for a different swap and I think it would be fine. So to your question, since you made them (not someone else) they could go into either category. The PIF is mainly for all those gorgeous swap items we get from others and we just are not able to use them in our books. I have lots of Mickey stuff , but I only have so many Mickey pictures.
So now Im going to sign up for new groups and you can give me your answer when you have time.

Hey AR,

Sorry I am just getting back to you, but after church my ds and I went to the arches to eat and then Wally World.

For the Disney Holiday Group it should be related to the special events that they have there. Like the halloween party, christmas party, osbourne lights, etc... I put that in there, because we most likely will not be having the WDW Event swap this year. However if everyone in the final group does not care if it is something different or everyone who has signed up for now I have no problem letting it be "holiday disney" theme element.

The sign ups do seem slow, but remember, the south is just getting into the school swing and us Mid-western folks are joining them soon. A lot of school and last minute shopping going on. A lot of swappers may be too stressed with real life to be thinking ahead to the long lonely days without children underfoot.

I'm afraid I don't understand how this one works, I've read the first post several times and I just don't get it. And, I don't want to sign up for more than I can handle (again, I'm feeling the heat of August swaps going on right now that I'm behind on completing).

It is easy once you get the mindset for it.

You can make ANYTHING you like within each theme. All you need to do is make sure you make enough of the elements for six swappers for each group you join.

Say you want General Disney. But you want TWO groups.
You can make 6 license plates and 6 paper piecings. That equals enough for 12 swappers - 2 groups of 6 swappers.
You can get really fancy and make 4 photo mat elements (2pp), 4 tag elements (2pp), 2 bookmarks and 2 matchbooks. That can be the confusing part.
I usually just make 6 of each element selection for each group I want to be in.

This swap is really fun. It's my favorite of all the swaps I've done so far. You just decide how many groups you want to join (Example, I've listed I'll join up to six different group A swaps). Once the swaps have closed the hostess will mix up the girls so we are all swapping with different people in the groups. In a traditional swap you are paired with the first five or six people who join and they may all join the same groups you have joined. So, you're swapping with the same people in each group. Doing it this way allows her to make sure you get to swap with a variety of people. The fun thing is, you make what you want to swap. As long as you follow the guidelines, you can make whatever you want and it is a surprise. It is truly like Christmas morning when the box arrives. The variety part is that you don't have to make all of the same things for each person in your group. You can make five different items, or five of the same (I find making the same thing is much easier.) The rule is that if you've joined three different group A categories you can't make 15 of the same items for the groups. Each group must have a different item. Depending upon how many groups she is able to make, I could be in up to six different groups, times six people per group. Depends upon how many groups she is able to make from the signups.
Right now we've got to get signups moving. This is a great swap and really lets your creativity shine since you can do almost anything you want. Come on, girls, you know you love this swap. Don't be afraid......the kids are on their way back to school. Think of all the extra time you'll have on your hands (unless you work full time like I do. Then you just let the laundry and the bathroom to the hubby and kids to do :)

Thanks a bunch for joining. There are as many spots you would like for each group. For example I signed myself up for 5 in a couple of groups. So far I do not have enough in those groups to fill 5 groups. You can choose how many you like. When the swap closes I am going to go back to each individual Grouping and start putting everyone in the indivdual groups. I did it this way, so I could mix us up into groups. For example if you signed up for 3 in Group A and so did 123SA, AWM, AR, DIT you would not have them in all three of your groups. Does that help?

On Wednesday/Thursday I will go ahead and start putting everyone in their groups and post it so those groups that need filling maybe others will fill the spots.

This is a fun swap with no limitations on what you need to create in your group as long as it is related to that group category.

Here is my explanation of how the swap works:

For example lets say you wanted 3 spots in Group A; 2 spots in Group C, etc....

You would make 5 elements (they all can be the same in that one group or you can have 2 pp and 2 lisc. plates, and 1 atc) for each group you sign up for. So if you wanted 3 spots in Group A you would make a total of 15 elements (but only 5 of the same.... not 15 of the same piece) that relate to anything to disney. It can be a ride, park, character, meal, show, parade, etc... very open on ideas.

For Group C you choose 2 spots that would mean you would make a total of 5 elements for each spot based on the Group C theme, which is Holiday (non-disney). This one is any holiday element, but not with a disney twist to it.

Hey Everyone I have put us in our groups. See post 2. There are some empty spots open, so hopefully we can get those filled.

I do have a question for those in Group A2 and Group A3... there is one spot left in each of these. Duchess Tisha dd signed up for 2 spots in the kiddos disney grouping. No other kiddos so far. Would you be alright to let her join in on in these two groups? I am in one of them and have no problem. I remember gettting a "Handy Mandy" title from 123SA dd last year and loved it. I finally got some pics of my ds playing with his Handy Mandy that I can use it with.

Let me know your thoughts? Also I am williing to open more groups if there are more to sign up in the next 2 days. I also have no problem adding myself to those groups, because a lot of my request will not fill up to capacity, so I can handle it. I had a total of 20 spots I wanted. No where near that for me.

Just wanted to let you all know what I have worked out so far and I hope there will be more to sign up and help fill in some spots or open more groups.

Ooopss one more thing.... There are a couple of us that requested more groups than I have listed. Once I can get the groups missing the spots I will open a new group and put your name in that group as well. Does that make sense? My ds is right here and having a hard time concentrating:laughing:

The little ds turned the big 3 at the end of May. We had big plans to go up to PA to visit Sesame Place, but with dh hernited disc it was best to stay home, so we just took him to Chuckie Cheese. He had a great time with his daddy and me (probably more fun with Daddy).

This is my only swap I got now, but looks like and WDW event is going to open up... ohhh what is a girl to do?

I know the feeling. Actually I have been swap free for a few days, so I finally finished up a disney autograph album (sitting here for a year) and I am actually scrapping a few pages I sit and wait to start this swap.

Speedy as usual. :car: I just spent about 4 days working with my scal on one of my elements. Doing the fonts is pretty easy, but I was trying to do an image and it took me for every to seperate it. I did not get all of the elements,but I am working with what I got. Now I need to bring in DS to finish it.

I havnt totally decided this yet but can I do something Disney for my Group F Anything Goes paper piecing. Im fine getting anything but I need to keep trying to get over my fear of making Disney things on the cricut.

Sure you can. :goodvibes I have been speeding days working on scal with an image. Still need a lot of help, but I finally got it to work out and combined it with some design studio work. The cricut is easy, especially with the design studio ( I just started using it in May). Just remember the smaller the cut it gets hard to get those tiny pieces to cut out. I found that 5 inch or better is a good size for characters.

Anyway for me I have completed all of my groups. I just finished them last night. I am planning on adding one thing to one. I was playing with my gyspy the other night in bed and designed a simple paper piecing with the G and want to see how it comes out.

I want a Gypsy!!:sad1: I am demonstrating the Gypsy at Michaels on Sunday so I got to work with one this week and I am so in :love:!!! Now to convince DH that it's worth the $$!!

Anyway, back to this swap. The other day, I went through my stash and pulled what I plan to use for this swap and started the designing process. I still need to do the Newbie swap and I've got a trip to Myrtle Beach coming up, but then I'll be focusing strictly on this swap!

Your teaching a class at M's on the G. Wow!! I now know who to to go for some hints on things. Yesterday the G froze up on me while linking carts. I was so upset and thought I would have to go outside to the curb and get the hsn box out of the trash to mail back. I posted on the cricuit mb and some ladies helped me out and told me I should try to reset it. It worked like a charm.

I had no intentions on getting it, but got soaked up in all the excitement and with flex pays, extended warranty, and chance to return I ordered one. I like it so far. It does take some practice. I have only linked 3 carts. I think I will link them as I need them that way if I end up selling a cart because I don't use it it wont be linked to my G. I made a charm for my stylus last night. She is soooo pretty. I got her a cherry blossom skin couple of days ago. She is styling while I am in my clothes from 3 years ago....lol:laughing:

Oh no!!!! Not a class. :rotfl:I'm doing a demonstration which is showing the basics of how it works. I've spent a grand total of 2-3 hours on it, I definitely don't know enough about it to teach a class. I'm sure you know a whole lot more than me. I'm just showing what it can do to try to get people to buy it! It's actually easier to use than I expected, especially since I can't stand Design Studio and cannot get it to do anything for me. I just don't get DS. I watched a few videos that were on You Tube for the Gypsy and it really helped understand what the gypsy could do and how to do them. I designed a few things, but I haven't cut any of them yet because the Manager needs to go find their Cricut!:confused3 My fingers are crossed that what I created actually works when I cut it or I'm going to be looking stupid on Sunday!!:lmao:

Okay I just cut my first gyspy project. I do have to say they are bigger than I thought....oops. Hope some of you like big paper piecing. It is just an extra I am going to throw in one of my groups. I wanted to play with my G. I see I will have to work on sizing. I loved just hooking my gypsy and turning on my E and viola it is cutting.

yeah I think you can do that and maybe another pic. I just did a measurement. It is 6.5 tall and the widest part is 4 inches. I went back and did some hand trimming. So it got a "haircut":rotfl:

Shawn, it sounds like you are having fun with your Gypsy!!! I got to play with one for about 5 hours yesterday at the demo at Michaels and I really have to get one of those. I designed and cut out on the Cricut and had such a fun time. It surprised me how easy it was to use especially after I can hardly do anything with Design Studio. I can't wait to see what you've made!!!!

I have heard word that she is experiences some things at home, so I will wait and see a few more days. I know she is to open a swap on Saturday, but with what is going at home life I am not sure if that is still a go. She has been absent, so we will see. Do you have a blog spot for some of them or do you take images and inkscape them and then scal them? I have a few images that I would like to get inkscaped and then cut into scal.Maybe you could help me with them if you can do that or give me your secret place where you get yours! Thanks! THis is so bad...15 groups I think? I didn't take photos and I don't remember what I made. I'm pretty sure one set is a handmade paper piecing. I have been using SCAL a lot, but no inkscape. I made one thing, one time in inkscape and it took more time than I am willing to spend.

Hey I used her blog as well. Not for anything in the surprise swap (I don't think) I just got done cutting out some transformers for DIT's swap. I also pm'd her on the cricut mb and sent her an image and asked if she could make it into a cut for me. She did it in less than 30 min. Very nice lady. I have a few more, but I don't think I will push my luck until closer when I will need them.

WOW... the :littleangel: are fllying high today. Thanks ladies soooo much for helping out. I will put DisneyBarlans down for the first two and if you do decided to do the 3rd that is great. I was more worried about the two that were not pass it forward.

To DB... :thanks: I will pm you my information and you can just send me yours back. I will say that I already got the first box from 123SA and you will love it. She was in 15 groups so I believe you will get one of hers back.

Now if the Dr's office will call back so I can get my :sick: ds into see a doctor as fast as we got angels offer would be sooooo nice. Those little kids are so resilant. He can feel like total crap, but you would never know it by all the running around. I think we got another ear infection. I have been trying for a month to get him a flu shot, but noooooo its not in yet and now I will have to wait longer with him being sick.....ugghhhh. Sorry for the vent.

PS MM2000 and AZ this week, maybe even today will be the "surprise" .

Thanks Rebecca. It is for one element from the element list (ie 2 photo mats, or one paper piecing, etc). If you have a set keep it together if you dont mind. I probably will be putting in some extras for everyone because I need to clean out some room for the one's that I do not have photos or subject matter for all the new one's coming in. Guess it would help if I scrapped more pages...:rotfl: I cant control my addiction.

I will mail the page off to DIT, since she said she is okay with it. That way it won't get smushed being by itself.

I will go through my stuff and work on mailing early next week. I was just thinking that some of what I have doubles of (because of hostessing and angeling in the past) I may give to my sister in law who scraps for Christmas so as I go through things for this swap I will pull out things for her.

Nemomom- can I put a name on each person's bag- I was thinking I would make sure that what I passed on was not something they would already have- I have a bunch of duplicates from some swaps last fall that are amazing but I know that I would have to pick carefully so as not to give someone something they already had.

Ann, I got your box yesterday. Oh I do love one set a lot. I am glad I get one, but I cant say what it is or the surprise factor will be gone. Let's just say it will work with some of the pictures from ds13 memorial service in TN where we released butterflies in his honor. Thanks for the cute goodies. Very sweet.

[B]UPDATE:[B] Time to start mailing out on Monday, so I can have them at my house on Nov.23 the following Monday and begin swapping out and have them mailed out the day after Thanksgiving and that Saturday. Thanks for hostessing Shawn! I'll tell you, though, coming up with things to make for the regular groups was a lot easier than finding Pay-It-Forward stuff! That's harder than it seems. I was trying to put in things that I thought each person could use and hadn't gotten in another swap. Anyway, I hope everyone likes and can use what I sent for them in the PIF groups. Shawn, I marked the bags with the name of whom it goes to.

That is extremely nice of you to do Stephanie. I did the same thing with the things I had. I hope everyone will be able to use them as well. I marked mine as well.

Okay here is an update on things....

I still have 2 packages not here. One of them was mailed out, but I have not received it yet. I asked the person to send me the dc number or check on it for me. The other person I have not heard from, but have heard word that they are having things going on at home. I am going to wait to see about the other package and hopefully it will be here Friday, but it so I will not be able to get them mailed out probably till Monday. With the other package I am going to try my best to blind swap so everyone will not get duplicates of their stuff back.There are a lot of groups with this package missing. I may have to switch out with in other groups of a different topic if that is okay with everyone. If not I will do it within the same topic of groups. Let me know what you think everyone?

I got the last package that I know we will receive today. So this weekend I am going to start swapping out and working on blind swapping the other items so everyone does not get 2 of their own back. I will try my best so this does not happen, but it may. Not sure yet.

How did you all do with your shopping? I am broke and actually sick of spending money. I have already started my new years resolution... I have set a limit and I will get that amount out in cash and that is it for the month. Except for December....I am going to spend NONE!!!!!!

Alrighty.... I spent pretty much all day yesterday swapping things out and getting them boxed up for the po. WHEW....

With the one missing box I was able to swap things out where no one got any duplicates of their items. So when you do go through your baggies and see that you have a Group C2 for your Group C bag this is the reason why. I will be getting the first half out in the mail tomorrow and the other half on Tuesday. Tyniknate I have not received in the mail the return postage yet. I am not sure if you did get it our or not, but I wanted to let you know.

Check for the return postage will go into the mail today. Sorry for the delay, with everyone being sick, thanksgiving and then black friday, the time just got away from me.

Hey I can completely understand. Last week was a zoo for me and it does not look like it will be getting anybetter. Seems like I cross one thing off the list and two more are added.

Also forgot to mention I did take pictures of all the groups except for the last three(not counting the pass it forward groups). My camera failed the last ones and I can not find my cord to charge up my battery. UGHHHH. Do you want me to wait till you get your stuff before I post the pics?

Thanks everyone for being a part of my first swap that involved mailing back to you. I have no idea how you veterans do more than one at a time,but hats off to you. Now off to look towards next year's swaps.

OT: When I came home today I saw something was not right because only 2 of my 3 dogs were at the window greeting me. So when I entered the house my youngest (my grieving dog I call her) she still was not at the door. Finally she limped her way into the room. My poor baby girl (her name is Zoe) did something to her front leg. I rushed her to the vet. He x-rayed her, but before hand felt her over and heard a pop when he was examining her shoulder. The x-rays were fine, so he thinks he pooped her shoulder back into place, but the area between her paw and leg (where it bends) probably got torn, so she needs to be carefuly. My poor babygirl. I wonder what she did. Whatever it was it cost me $200. Why or why.... will it ever get better.

Poor baby dog. I feel your pain. It was $75 to make sure Kiena's eye was okay.

It's here! And I havnt had time to look at everything yet! But what I have seen is AWESOME!! and Banana has already claimed the Sponge Bob pieces to give her friend for Christmas, so who ever made those, thank you!

Thanks guys for letting me know they are arriving. Crap, my power just went off. Good thing for battery..lol. We have tornado winds going on tonight.

AZ I made one of the Sponge Bob pieces and I think Pirate Tink did the other, but I could be wrong.

Update on my girl.... she was her usual self today. You would never know anything was wrong yesterday. I guess it was her shoulder dislocated and that's all... that had to be painful.

Alright almost all are home. I will be mailing out Tyniknate's tomorrow. I am so glad everyone is loving the stuff. I thought it was some great stuff. I never got ATC cards either.

Thanks for the compliments and I so enjoyed doing this swap and seeing all the great stuff just laying out on my floor. The halloween tree and the spongebob were probably my favorites to make. I have a picture just need to download to computer, but camera battery is still dead and I still can not find my cord....ugghhhh. I need that camera for next week.
