View Full Version : Taxi cost to Portofino from MCO?
Anyone have an idea of the general cost of a regular taxi from MCO to PBH? Are Taxis easy to get for the return to the airport? Would be leaving late morning probably, 10-11 am or so.
Thanks!!!

I found a taxi cost estimator somewhere on the web and it estimated that a trip from HRH to MCO was around $33. I would imagine from PBH is about the same. Hope that helps some!

Now I realized that only 4 people fit in the cab!
The shuttle was $135. Round trip:eek: does anyone have any secrets for a family of 5?

there are 2 transportation companies that allow 5 in the vehicle for the same standard price.
most other companies charge an additional $10 for the 5th person.

You are a non stop supply of knowledge! :thumbsup2
Do I need to set something up early, or just look for them when we arrive at MCO?

 thank you
i would book ahead before you leave.
some transportation companies book up depending on the season and then they have to resort to using sub drivers.
i always book my car service once i book my flight.
if 2 parties book for the same time for car transportation, the company honors the party that booked first. you are locked in then.
you can always readjust your transportation ressie if your flight times change.
it is never a problem.
many of the car services track the flights you are on and are aware of any delays you may encounter.
if you plan to rely on taxis, you can use them without prior reservations.
if you use Mears taxi service from the airport, you can book those in advance.
Thanks everyone for the answers!!!
Any particular services to recommend? (Mears car service?) We used FL Tours our last Disney trip and had a bad experience with a driver, so we'll skip them for now.

i use car service and have two favorites.
one i can't list as it has been banned from the dis.
the other is Murray Hill transportation.
i have used 7 different companies and have been sticking with the 2 above as i have been very satisfied with them.

I don't mean to steal a thread, but I think my question is nearly the same. For a party of 4, is the least expensive transport a simple taxi? If I am going in late Jan, do I need ressies or am I able to just grab one at MCO? What if I have 5 in my group? Will I find a taxi that can carry us? I would think there would be vans.
Thanks.

i answered a couple of your questions in one of my above posts, you probably missed it.
use the taxi link that is in this thread.
compare it to the costs of other ways to travel from the airport to your hotel.
i can't answer your question about having 5 in a taxi. the most i have had in my group in the past was 4 peeps.
mears does have mini busses if you want to use them.
the only hindrance in using them is they do go to assigned hotels in the area.
if you are in a hurry to get to your hotel, you don't know how long it will take to arrive there.
it all depends on the number of drop offs prior to your stop.
i still recommend car service.
there are two of them that do not charge extra for over 4 passengers.
if you don't go that route, the extra $10 for the 5th passenger is still cheap and you get to your hotel quicker.
it is all personal choice.
ask your self are you looking to shave some money off transportation costs?
do you want to get to your hotel as fast as possible ?
do you want to share your ride with strangers?
do you want the free grocery stop w/ private car service, which is included in the total fee you pay?
what is important to you, may not make a difference to others.
i like having the car to myself, free grocery stop and getting to the hotel asap.
that is why i go with car service

I called ahead to find out what it would cost to get from MCO to Hard Rock & was told approx $38.
Well guess what? I waited in one of those taxi's lines at the airport and was told $50 + tip. I was not happy. For that I could've got a town car.
Arrived a Hard Rock - cost was $47.25, + tax.

You just made my decision a lot easier! No taxi's for us.

that is why i don't take taxis.
they charge by the mile and the time you are in the cab.
car service is a flat fee.
you know up front what you will pay.
i read that yellow taxis are the most reliable and honest.
i read that on the mouse for less boards.
but, i haven't tried them only read about them.

the other company is a good company.
i am using them for my fall trip again.
when a company has been banned, we are not allowed to list it on the dis.
if i sent you a pm with the name, it would be filtered out.
companies are banned from the dis for many reasons.
this company had nothing to do with service or problems for being banned from the dis.

We are also a family of 5 and a couple of years ago used the Mears transportation at MCO. I can't remember the cost but they did accomodate us in a larger minivan which took us and the luggage with a problem.
We contacted them a week before arrival to make a reservation. Hope this helps:thumbsup2

In case this would help anyone...
This summer I had a Mears taxi scheduled to pick us up at PBH to take us to MCO.
They were early...mof, sent 2 cabs!
We left at 5:30 on a Monday (7/13) ...I thought it would be rush hour. Turns out, traffic wasn't bad and we really didn't "sit" in any traffic.
With tolls, it was $42.xx...not including tip.
Was worth it for us...cheaper than towncar.
DH said we'd do it again.
