I am back from my very long journey back from WDW. I bought my decorations and they will be in the mail tomorrow. I had a card from the post office through my door about a parcel so I will pick that up as I drop my packages off. Apologies as when I bought the items at the Christmas shop I forgot to ask to get the US one shipped so they are both going tomorrow (I did then go and buy another decoration as an apology for the package being sent late though once I realised my mistake!)
Right, I better go do the loads of washing then catch up on some sleep!!

How was your trip, Karen?
Our trip was wonderful thanks. AKL was beautiful, the parks were not too bad, we used fast pass well! I bought way too many pins, and did lots of pin trading with CM's. As our anniversary was noted on our reservation we recieved quite a few cards from the CM's in the restaurants and in California Grill for our anniversary meal we were given a free glass of champagne each and a piece of anniversary chocolate cake. Plus we had a window table with an amazing view over the MK and Wishes. Now I just have to sort out and put away all the pins I got!!

Sounds fun....how was the heat? That is the only thing that is worrying me about out upcoming trip.
Any special pin finds to tell us about. I need to start thinking about how many $$ to take for that!!
Celebrating something special is fun! We went for our anniversary in June.

The heat wasn't too bad, some days the humidity was awful, but with afternoon breaks it was OK. We had 1 day where it rained a lot, but apart from that there was hardly any rain at all (most days didn't even have the usual afternoon 30 minutes of rain.)
As for pin finds, I traded 23 pins with CM's altogether and managed to finish of some sets I had been looking for. I bought a few LE pins too, the AKL key one, the large Kilimanjaro Safari FP one and Pete bought a cool LE lightsabre set from the Star Wars weekend. Oh and I had to buy a new pin trading bag too to put them all in. But now I have bags from DL, WDW and DLRP which is nice. I think between us we came back with about 65 new pins!!
Meriweather
08-27-2009, 12:28 PM
:yay: Sounds great. I hope the weather isn't too bad when we are there. I hate humidity!

Thank goodness, I was seriously begining to worry. You will be getting a little surprise in the mail soon Michelle.
Claire,I can sympathize with you about the weather turning chilly!! :cold: It's been steadily getting cooler here every day and summer is slipping away (not that we had much of one to speak of)!! :sad2: Fall is definitely on the way!! I'm so glad those slipper socks came in handy!!:woohoo:;)

They are very warm & comfy.....I am going to be good and save them for christmastime (well after today ;))
It has done nothing but rain here this week, I was sooo looking forward to getting some sun in Orlando on Monday but just heard that Tropical Storm Erica is on it's way so we may face flight delays. Lets hope not - positive thoughts! :wizard:

Good luck with that, Claire.
It will still be toasty warm there, but we don't want any flight delays!!

I can empathise about the weather. I think I might have to swap my mary jane crocs for my Ugg boots to go back to work in tomorrow!
Ooh, how I wish I could go back to Disneyland, I loved it there. Plus the Grand Californian is a beautiful hotel, and Napa Rose; yummmmmmmmm!!

Well, I bet Dania could use a room mate ::yes::
Napa Rose....haven't been, but on the list for this time. It is a beautiful restaurant. We did go on a tour through it a couple of times.
And of course we LOVE  Grand Californian!!

We ate at the chefs counter at Napa Rose and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. DH did the wine pairing and I asked the somalier to help me select a glass. The chefs chatted to us as we watched them work and they sent several samples over for us to try. Then at the end of the meal the somalier asked DH which his favourite wine was and he poured us both a large glass of that to take up back to our room free of charge to enjoy on our balcony with some after dinner sweets. Definately highly recommended.

Sounds great......we did Club 33 and DH did the wine pairings, so I am sure he would be up for that!!
Just depends on if we can afford it.....if the house sells, then definitely. If not, the Chef's Table might have to wait.
I am a picky eater.....will it still be worth it for me??

Ooh, Club 33 I am envious, that is my Disney dream!!
I am a picky eater too and chefs counter is so worth it. You still choose off the same menu as the rest of the restaurant and it costs the same. You just get to chat to the chefs and they send over a few extra free items to sample.

sounds great.....will have to check it out for sure.
We went on Walk Through Walt's Footstep tour and went into the lobby of Club 33. I was determined to eat there. So.......had DH use all his contacts and find someone to get us in, so next trip we did. It was so great. I hate being told I can't do something or go somewhere, so I was determined to get in !! :rotfl:

It is hard to see everything in just a couple of days.
I want to check out some new things, but it has been so long since we have been, I have to wait for somethings until next time, which hopefully will be next Oct.

When we went to Disneyland last year for our 1st visit, as it was our 10th anniversary we decided to splash out and hired a VIP guide for the day. It was amazing, so worth it for a special treat. We went in to Californian Adventure before it opened and rode Soarin by ourselves before it opened to the public (then we got to stay on for a 2nd ride when it officially opened), we got so many fastpasses it was unreal (from the machines and the ones CM's can give out, then when we went to use a lot of them we were told to just keep them for later), we skipped the Nemo line which was 2 hours long as her friend was the lead CM on it (officially we were given a Dream!) and she got Billy Hill and the Hillbillies to dedicate the entire show for us (which was especially funny when they sang the war song about the British coming!!) We were also allowed to stay on several rides to ride a 2nd time, oh and we got a private chat with Crush at turtle talk plus we got into the VIP seating areas for Fantasmic, the fireworks and all the parades and shows for the whole stay and we also got to do a lap of the park in the Lilly Belle. Now I think we got a particulally good guide, she was recommended from other dis people and for a special treat it was so worth it.
I hope you all have fab trips to Disneyland, we definately plan on returning one day after Californian Adventure has been re modelled.

I know you have told me about it before Karen, it sounds amazing but I can't remember how much it costs though? I would love to do this when we eventually make it back to LA.
