CareerStart Program

Hey all!

So I would really like to apply for the CareerStart Program. I will be graduating this upcoming school year and I will also be turning eighteen on June 1st and I have a question, ok well a few questions..

1.) Would it be alright for me to apply now even though I am not eighteen?

2.) Are there any good ideas as to how I could possibly convince my mother that I'm serious about joining?

This would be the most amazing experience and I would just love to participate in this program. Please help me! It means alot. :goodvibes

1.) Would it be alright for me to apply now even though I am not eighteen?

They will be (maybe) recruiting for the Spring 2010 program this fall. You have to have graduated high school and be at least 18 by the time the program begins.

Assuming that "graduating this upcoming school year" means that you will be graduating in April/May 2010 and you will not be 18 until June 2010, then the earliest you could apply would be between February and April for their Fall program... if they still have it.

2.) Are there any good ideas as to how I could possibly convince my mother that I'm serious about joining?

I can't help with this, but providing her with as much information as possible would be a start. Letting her familiarize herself with the program so she is comfortable with what the program offers and what she thinks you will gain from it.

Keep in mind that the concept of you growing up is something that she is probably having to work through too. Whether that is you going on to college, moving out of the house, etc. The initial idea of you moving to a distant location could be kinda shocking for her. Big change after 17-18 years of having you around.
