You guys are not going to believe this but I am leaving for WDW at 7pm tonight and will be back this Sunday! DH has a conference just north of Orlando tomorrow so he said, hey lets make a weekend out of it and go to Disney! Gawsh I just love that boy!

So I just booked us one night in a Hampton Inn for tonight close to his meeting place and then 2 nights onsite but I have no idea where (I am on the phone with WDW as we speak).

So I have a solo day but it is one hour away from WDW so I dont know if I will go to the parks but on Friday night we will check into our WDW resort and on Saturday go to MK and Sunday go to Epcot.

Now to the important stuff...where am I gonna eat?

Will post that update soon!

Last time my DH got flown to Orlando for business they literally didn't leave the airport (even stayed at that hotel there), I would love to get to tag along on an awesome trip like that. I encourage you to do the solo day. You will have a blast just soaking up the atmostphere and enjoying all the little details. Have a great trip!

If you don't mind, I have a favor to ask of you! I'm a big fan of your review and have been following them (well, for the past 4 months or so since booked our first ever free dining) and have linked to them many times for other people to enjoy.

We'll be at Chefs in a couple weeks for lunch also, and were really looking forward to the Chefs Menu (on the DDP). But I read a recent review in which someone posted it was allowed only at dinner, not lunch. I know you won't be on DDP/free dining for this trip, but if at all possible and you have a chance, could you ask if it's still included just so we can plan one way or the other?

Thanks so much and have an awesome time!

Disney offered a promo of $96 for moderates ($69 for values?) and $119 or something for deluxes. This was offered after the free dining plan offer ended. This is how we ended up squeaking out a "mini trip" for September.

Hi all! Before I get into my first dining review I will brief you on my day...we arrived in Orange City at midnight last night, I was exhausted and could not believe how far Disney is from this place...about and hour but it might as well be 3 hours! DH was in meetings all day and I slept in, hung out by the pool for a bit and then went to the mall to browse around, the rain up there was insane!

DH and I made it to CR for dinner at the Wave right at 7pm, the same time as our ressie! I valet the car, went to the Wave and we were seated right away. The lobby of the CR was jammed with people but the bar to the Wave and the seating areas were empty. The dining room was full of people but we were seated right away. Our server was Kim and she was very helpful in making suggestions and telling us what her favorites were. We were starved! I just had yogurt and fruit from the free continental breakfast at the hotel and Todd had some crappy pizza for lunch....we were ready to chow down!

Here are some pics of the menu..sorry for the glare but it is so dark in there and I still have not mastered the camera settings.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave003.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave002.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave001.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave004.jpg

I started with the Magical Star Cocktail, I just love these things, they are so good and cold but this one was very weak....

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave005.jpg

Todd had a glass of some sparkling wine, a Rose something...he liked it.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave006.jpg

I knew I had to get the avocado citrus salad, I told DH if he wanted some he had to order his own because I planned on eating it all myself. We had this in March 09 and I loved it but we shared it and I barely got two bites...that is a theme when sharing foods with my husband. This time I was shocked...the size was huge, it was loaded with super creamy wonderful avocados, tons of white grapefruit, pink grapefruit and orange segments, mixed baby green....this salad is incredible and I could eat it every single day! Todd was lucky it was such a large salad because I shared!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave009.jpg

DH went for the lettuce wraps, bibb lettuce with marinated chicken and veggies...there were three of them so I got to eat one. The chicken is very tender, the flavor is slightly smokey asian flavored...very good but a bit messy from the sauce. DH really enjoyed them but his fave will always be PF Changs/Pei Wei

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave007.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave008.jpg

Out came the bread and butter...this is great stuff! The bread has a nice chewy crust and is very grain-y and yummy! The bread was creamy and had a nice salt on it.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave010.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave011.jpg

I could not decide what to order, I had already had the filet and the pork so I wanted to do something different. I had the linguine with shrimp..they subbed extra shrimp for the clams (Nic doesnt do clams that way....fried only). Wow this was incredible...first the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente, the dish was loaded with rock shrimp...I mean there were dozens in there. The sauce was a very light, almost thin, tomato sauce..not like spaghetti sauce but more like a very mild tomato bisque soup...topped with an herb crostini.....we both loved this and finished the entire place, Todd was blown away by how many shrimp were in the dish.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave012.jpg

Todd had the flank steak, our server Kim highly recommended it so he was sold. He LOVED his dish, it was very tender (he had it cooked med well and it was still tender), tons of flavor in the meat, it sat on a bed of sauteed squash and there was a huge ice cream scoop size of quacamole on top..I had a bite and it was ok for me (I am not a fan of overcooked meat) but he was very happy with it.

Now since we barely ate all day we decided we had room for dessert...here are pics of the menu

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave014.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave015.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave016.jpg

DH had a mocha latte....I had the lavender Earl Grey tea

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave017.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave018.jpg

I went with the sugar free trio...vanilla creme brulee, berries and a Panna Cotta and a mint chocolate mousse

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave019.jpg

The vanilla creme brulee was excellent, nice and creamy, not too sweet and the burnt sugar on top was perfect...we both enjoyed this alot.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave020.jpg

The berries and panna cotta was awesome! Blueberries, blackberries and raspberries in a very light cream...we fought over this one!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave021.jpg

The mint chocolate mousse was gawd awful, it was so minty it was like eating toothpaste and you could tell there was zero sugar in this one!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave022.jpg

DH ordered the Celebration trio, a chocolate passionfruit mousse, a passionfruit creme brulee and a cheesecake with raspberry sauce...he had this in March and enjoyed it.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave023.jpg

The chocolate mousse was very good but the bottom with the passionfruit was too tart for me...there caramel was yummy!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave024.jpg

Todd loved the passionfruit creme brulee but again it was way too tart and sweet for me

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave025.jpg

The cheesecake was awesome, a nice buttery graham crust, creamy cheesecake and a light raspberry sauce, I wish they gave me a large one of that!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/TheWave026.jpg

Our meal, with the TIW card, came to $107...the restaurant was busy the entire night...it was loud in there but not obscenely.....we were there for 2 hours just like at a signature restaurant....and this place is just as wonderful as a signature place but for less moolah. I would love to eat here in Dec, before the MVMCP but 2 hours it too long! Hmmm...maybe we will eat there, the food is just too good to pass up!

:lmao: Yes he has 3 and they are both married...but you wouldnt want them anyways they do not "Do" Disney...I swear I married the only sane one in the family.....

Thank you for sharing with us. I'm so glad you like The Wave b/c that might be our first night meal when we go to our December trip. Enjoy your day tomorrow and I can't wait to read the rest food review.

What does tomorrow bring? I think we are going to sleep in and grab something to eat for breakfast from Roaring Forks. Then we will head to Epcot for the day, we have noon ressies at Chefs de France...I did a solo lunch there in June and I raved about it so much that Todd felt like he was missing out so I made sure to book that.

I have been on the phone since yesterday trying to get Teppan Edo for DH .... I can do without it but he loves it but the only dinners open are Nine Dragons (GROSS!) and Marrakesh...so I have no clue what we are going to do for dinner...your guess is as good as mine!

There will be plenty of drinking, I need to see if they have that frozen Pomegranet cocktail in France and DH is dying to try the Grey Goose Slushie....

Dont know if we will take a break tomorrow but I promise to report back at night!

Any request from Epcot??

Great review, Nic. Does this mean I'm not going to have to bring you a snack when we are there next month? Will you go to Downtown Disney on your own? If not, just tell me what you want, and we'll get it.

We've never done breakfast at Roaring Forks--only lunch. It was pretty good.

Yay, I got so excited when I saw your spur of the moment trip. No matter how "mini" it is, another awesome TR from Nicki before my family goes next month...I can't wait, and it looks like you're off to a good start! I have to admit, I was originally bummed because your official next trip is after mine...but not now!

Truly LOVE your reviews, we have the same tastes, and I really appreciate how you take pics of the menus, not to mention all the details you provide! Your review of Boma alone made me a believer! Have a fun time and enjoy! :goodvibes

Aren't last minute out of town business trips exciting? I just went on one with my hubby this week! ;)

Thanks for the awesome review and food porn pics @ The Wave. It's on my 'must experience' list for the next vacation!!

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy the Wave as much as we did!

Great review, Nic. Does this mean I'm not going to have to bring you a snack when we are there next month? Will you go to Downtown Disney on your own? If not, just tell me what you want, and we'll get it.

We've never done breakfast at Roaring Forks--only lunch. It was pretty good.

No you are off the snack hook! I will stock up before we leave :rotfl: We are on our way down to RF right now....

So much for sleeping in, the bad thing about our room location is it is right over the service loading area so you hear all the trucks coming and beeping all hours of the morning. THe good part is we watched the fireworks from our balcony, killer view of the fireworks!

We are dressed and headed out to breakfast, hope its yummy...and that they have cinnamon rolls for the grizzly bear I sleep next to!

If we take a break today I will update you guys if not wait until tonight!

Oh and LOVE the online booking thing, I was able to get a dinner ressie at Beirgarten when the dining line said there wasnt anything available!

Hi guys! We just got back from a nice, very hot, day at Epcot and MK and boy am I exhausted! First up, breakfast at Roaring Forks. We arrived to a very small CS area that was loaded with a million people, ok not that many but there was no where to turn and the lines were insane.

DH went to get the food while I stood in line to get Nescrape (er coffee) for him and ice tea for me. Seriously, lines for the drink area...can you believe that??

DH ordered 2 adult platters..they came with wonderful creamy scrambled eggs, awesome hash browns, the worlds worst, undercooked, super greasy biscuit (one bite and I spit it out) and horrible limp greasy bacon that DH had a few bites of. Now I love bacon but not WDW bacon, I will not eat it. Sadly they didnt have any sausage, they do not offer it.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food029.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food032.jpg

We also got our normal order of fruit but this one was ick...the melon was very hard and had zero flavor.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food028.jpg

And the finishing touch, you guys know that Todd is madly in love with cinnamon buns...well they had them but they were covered in pecans and they were super duper soft and the icing was nice and warm and gooey...OMG it was incredible and we shared it and wish we had another one!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food025.jpg

I must say the tiny dining area was loaded with people, the place was a freaking mess and the noise was insane....it was probably the most noisiest CS I have ever seen..but it was worth it to eat that cinnamon pecan roll :goodvibes

Oooooh....those are the GOOD kind of hash browns! REAL hash browns. Don't cut potatoes into tiny squares and tell me they're "hash browns"....nope, they have to be shredded, browned and buttery to count as the real thing! Totally agree with you about WDW bacon, too. How can you ruin bacon? :confused3 They found a way...

So our after our breakfast we were on the bus to Epcot and the conversation went like this "Nic I really want to eat at Teppan Edo" I know Todd I am trying my best but there are no openings all day. "Ok fine but I want to eat there"

Am I talking to my 6 year old niece?

So we got into Epcot with out a hitch, went to get FP for Soarin and head over to the countries. At 11:30 I called yet again to see if we could get in, the answer (again) was NO....so I went upstairs to check and the CM's told me they were booked solid. So we left and went to the gift shop...by now DH is not taking no for an answer so he said lets try again...For the love of Pete with this boy....and guess what? The SAME CM said they can seat us in 5 minutes.....so DH thinks he has the magic touch or something (and he is right, more on that later).

We sit for a few minutes, watch the opening ceremony and meet the people that we are sharing our table with, we were the first people sat...so much for booked solid right? Now let me remind you that this is Todd's favorite type of meal out of any meal in the world, the reason we do not eat here is because we get better, cheaper and more food at the local place at home...keep that in mind too while you read my review.....

Here is the menu

DH had lemonade and I had the most incredible, delish iced green tea...I had like 4 glasses of this stuff

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food008.jpg

DH had the miso soup and the salad with ginger dressing...I didnt want either of it. He loved the salad, is was fresh and cold and large...the miso soup was so salty he could not eat it.

About this time we are getting friendly with our tablemates, and they were a nice family, 3 kids and 3 adults from Texas...we were chatting up a storm and the mom of the group noticed my crazy picture taking and said....are you on the Dis and are you MickeyNicki? Well hello! DH could not believe that someone knew me and it turned out it was Sheera from the Dis and she is on vacation with her family, they are staying until Thur...we had a blast with her and her family!

Here are our plates, noodles with onions and zucchini...DH loved it, it was just eh for me...part of this experience is getting all the veggies at my local place but here at Teppan Edo they do not give them to you so I was really bummed out. DH ate his plate and mine.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food022.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food023.jpg

Here is the plain boring dry ick white rice...again I am a spoiled brat and like fried rice or brown rice...they do not have either...so DH ate his rice and mine as well.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food027.jpg

DH had the chicken and shrimp...the shrimp were huge, the chicken very tender and he had some teriyaki sauce on the side to dip it in...he loved it and ate every bite...I had one bite of each and it was very good. This was also served with mushrooms.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food038.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food039.jpg

I ordered the filet cooked med rare...it came with mushrooms that I gave to DH. Well he cut my filet into pieces the size of peanut M&M's and he way overcooked it to a well done...I didnt want to complain so I ate a few bites and Todd polished off the rest.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food037.jpg

Ok to recap...DH had the soup, salad, the noodles and few veggies from the both of us, both white rices, the shrimp, chicken and my steak. So my husband completely pigged out and had himself a $90 lunch (including tip, they do not accept TIW card or the AP discount on a Saturday). What did I eat? Green tea! But he was so freaking happy and I wasnt too hungry anyways! The things I do for my man...I really wanted Chefs ha ha!

MickeyNicki

So you are probably wondering, did you ever eat anything? Oh heck yeah I did...we left Teppan Edo and went to France..this was my lunch.

Two of these little suckers

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food041.jpg

Well I had one first and then we went to the bakery and after that I went back and got another one...they are sooo much better than the GM ones!

Then I had a fantastic croissant, so light and flaky and butter and wonderful!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food043.jpg

And this little cake for dessert...the bottom is dark chocolate, then there is a vanilla cake with lemon cream and raspberry on top...it was light and delish!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food042.jpg

After hanging out in Epcot for a while DH wanted to head to MK....we had no clue what we were going to do for dinner and there was no TS places open in MK or the surrounding resorts so we figured we would eat at CHH....I really wanted the Plaza but they were booked....or are they?? Are any of the TS places REALLY booked??

No sooner do we get off the monorail does my little endless stomach (uh DH of course) say he needs a treat...so onto Main Street Bakery we go!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food047.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food048.jpg

Todd chose a chocolate chip cookie, he didnt like it at all, too crispy and too greasy. The person in front of us had the frozen latte (I completely forgot all about them) and he had to get one of those too...it was more like a coffee milkshake but it was very very good and he did share it with me...will get that again for sure!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food049.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food050.jpg

He really wanted an eggroll (where does he put all this food) but they no longer sell them in Adventureland and when we made it to Frontierland he spied the pretzel cart...he never passes up a pretzel.

The topic of what to do for dinner kept rearing its ugly head...we walked over to the Plaza and the CM said the only time open was 8:40...too late. If I eat that late I cannot sleep at night....we went to Tonys, they could take us at 4pm...too early, I know like we are the three bears or something.

So we decided on CS but the menu at Cosmic Rays was ick and we decided to get something from CHH but on the way I need to use the ladies room, the one that happened to be by the Plaza...I get out of the bathroom and DH is saying come on I got us a table...its like 5:30 and he did what?? I could not believe it...the same CM that told us no openings said ok to DH....he thinks he is the golden child when it comes to getting us into places that they tell me NO WAY. So I told the little maniac that he is now in charge of all our ressies :rotfl:

We ate here once many many moons ago, like 10 years or something. Here is the menu

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food054.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food055.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food056.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food057.jpg

I really wanted the club sandwich but DH whined "But I dont like that and cant share it with you" so I said then what do you want ME to get?? Oh get the reuben he says, and get fries. I said why cant you get fries? He said he is getting the broccoli slaw, I reminded him that he doesnt like that but he said he would eat it (guess who wound up eating it because HE didnt like it? Why doesnt he just obey like the vows said?? ;))

DH had the cheesesteak without the peppers but with extra mushrooms and onions and cheese...it was awesome...soft bread, lots of ooey goodness and the steak was very tender. The broccoli slaw was wonderful, crisp, crunchy and cold.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food058.jpg

The reuben was awesome too, the corn beef was just salty enough and very tender, lots of cheese and dressing and kraut. The fries were incredible...if you have ever been to Boston and had Boston's Best Fries they are just like that...crispy, not greasy and just enough salt on em.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food059.jpg

We watched all the foods come out and the most ordered were the chicken salad (which was HUGE) and the cheesesteak.

We had ice tea to drink and were way too full for dessert but on the way out DH picked up some rice krispie treats, rocky road fudge and the last gingerbread cookie they had.

We LOVE the plaza! The cheese steak is our favorite and we usually don't eat stuff like that.

Okay, so I had a reservation at Teppan Edo for the last night of our trip. I've been searching for a reason to cancel it and now I have one (your review). I'm all about some fried rice! I'd swap it out for Yak and Yeti, but I think I read one of your reviews where it's dark meat there? Hubby doesn't eat dark meat....
Back to square one! Obessing over our upcoming tip :rotfl:
I really didn't want to pay $12 for the kids meal there anyway. But now I need a back up plan. Any recommendations?

Now dont get me wrong, Teppan Edo was great for DH but for me, well I am used to my local joint where it costs $65 for us and we get a shrimp appie, soup and salad EACH (included) and they give us fried rice, lots of broccoli, pea pods, carrots etc, the portions are alot bigger to so I am very biased. But I would rather eat at any other place in Epcot than TE...but that is because of the reasons I just gave you.

No no, Y&Y was excellent it was Nine Dragons that was disgusting with dark meat!

I have no clue what to do about our ressies in Oct now...I thought I perfected them but DH is all about the TS for lunch and dinner...might have to get the DDXP! No more sit down breakfasts for us, just too heavy first thing in the am!

I say let Todd make them all and let him see what it is like! And then you tell him when you get there that you want to eat somewhere else :rotfl2:

Oh good! Yak and Yeti sounds awesome then. I completely agree with you on teppan edo. That's why I had been looking to cancel it, but hubby's will be hubby's! I love the veggies piled on high and the fried rice. Why ruin a good thing right!

I hope you guys enjoy the rest of your mini trip! We love your reviews!

MK was not that busy tonight, we got on lots of rides, saw the new Hall of Presidents..Epcot was a breeze too and we noticed at both parks lots and lots of characters out and no lines to meet with them.

Tomorrow is going to be completely different than what I thought (but when do things every go according to plans?). We are cancelling breakfast at WCC and eating at Roaring Forks again (a huge desire for that pecan cinnamon bun) and then we are going to sit by the pool and relax until noon and get shower up, check out at 1 and then have lunch at WCC....when DH got one whiff of that BBQ he was dying to eat there asap. So then I can cancel the dinner we have there in Oct and add the Wave back in!...that is unless he loves the WCC too much!

Now KatMark, I know what you guys said about WCC but DH is itching to try it and this weekends seems to be all about the boy (dont know why that is :rolleyes1) so I have to give it to him....

Then it is on the road time...so I will probably update tomorrow night sometime.

Lots of rain going on right now, tons of storms out there and 2 possible hurricanes are looming out there...wont know what happens with them until the end of next week sometime.

DH is snoring away, I am typing away and counting down the days until I can do this again!

Really enjoyed your newest reviews. I'm thinking I need to go into the Main Street Bakery more often - that fudge cake looks good - along with the brownies, cupcakes, cinnomen rolls, and...well everything.

I'm with you on Teppanedo as well. I booked it for my brother & sister-in-law (and their 3 kids) because it seems like their kind of place. For me, I prefer to be the one cutting up my own meat.:lmao:

Thank for an awesome update. I'm like you I'm bias on my hibachi food...I need the fried rice and that's what I'm used too at all the hibachi restaurant we go to and they give you soup, salad, more vegatables and portion. Plus I think that place is so pack all time and so much other restaurant to choice from...you are a good wife. Plus, if we go there and my 4 yr would be looking for his fried rice (that's his favorite thing when we go to a hibachi restaurant). I'm really want to go to Chefs de France...maybe in your next trip. Anyway, your husband will tell you why do you make all your ADR in advance when he can go and walk to a restaurant and get you a sit :rotfl::rotfl:. Thank you again for sharing.

Thanks for the reviews! I was thinking about doing Teppan Edo or Tokyo Dining but now I know NOT to do Teppan Edo! Doesn't looked like there's much for vegetarians :( I had the GM slush and was disappointed but didn't have a chance to do the Grey Goose one...that will have to happen in December!

Can't wait to hear what you guys think of WCC! My mom refers to it is "that gross restaurant" LOL!

Why do I always read these at night, forcing me to go get a midnight snack?? :)

I haven't eaten at Teppan Edo, but my parents had the same problem there you did -- we have a fantastic local place that fries the rice and gives a huge portion of veggies, all for a fraction of the price. Teppan Edo wound up disappointing them.

I've seen 2 very positive vegetarian reviews of Teppan Edo recently, they do a huge stir fry with tofu and veggies and they prepare it first so that there's no meat contamination. I read a lot of vegetarian reviews so I can't tell you who it was, though.

Sounds like it's time to pass the ADR baton along to He Who Rules The ADR World!

I know what you mean about Roaring Forks. My mother and I stayed there last October and it was always packed and had uncontrollable lines. Especially bad because it's such a tiny place. What made it worse was the mgr was just standing around looking at people and not actually doing anything to help! We got their croissant sandwiches (yick) one day then switched to oatmeal and yogurt parfaits.

Enjoy yourselves today! Thanks for taking time to post your live updates!

I am looking foward to hearing about WCC too. It's one restaurant I haven't eaten at yet, and I think that and the Plaza are the only restaurants I haven't been to in the MK area besides V&A.

I always have it on my list of "to try" restaurants, but it never quite makes the list when I end up booking. I think there are just too many signature restaurants in the area that I always end up at one of them. But if it's good, who know where I'll eat next year.

Never been to the Plaza...in fact, I really wasn't sure where it was. DUH...right next to the ice cream parlor where I get my 'must-have' last day at Disney chocolate cone!!

Those treats at the Main Street Bakery looked delish!! I'll have to take my boys thru there on our next Disney visit. I was so concentrated on getting the cookie ice cream sandwich last time that I didn't really notice all the other goodies in the cases.

OMG--where have I been this weekend!!! I just caught up on this thread...A Nicki & Todd bonus trip to WDW...wowzers, how fun is that. Bummer about the rain, but nice for the low crowds (although sounds like the crowd situation will get worse today with Free Dining starting...saw on another thread that a Magic Express driver told some people that 24,000 are scheduled for ME arrival today:scared1: You're probably leaving at the perfect time, Nicki!)

Love the pictures, as always...of course we're dieting hard (told DH had to get the pants a little looser before we get there for Free Dining in a couple of weeks -- gotta have some "growing" room:rotfl:)

I have a question about Teppon Edo- does the chicken have a coating on it? DS only eats meat with coating, but would like to go to a hibachi restaurant.

The chicken is not breaded, just grilled on the hibachi....but I did see the kids at the table next to us get the meal in the monorail dish and it had tempura battered chicken....

I asked Todd if he wanted to take over the ressies from now on and he said no, just call on him when there is something that I cannot get :worship: What a wise guy huh?

I really really really wanted that club too...the one thing lately is I have not been hungry, I take a few bites and he polishes off the rest so in order not to waste food I have to get something he likes too :rotfl:

Breakfast this morning was great, we were up early because of the noise from the loading area, we threw on the suits and headed downstairs. It was very crowded again but it was much quieter. At 9am the pool was loaded with people, it was insane.

DH requested oatmeal with brown sugar, he loves this paste, er I mean cereal and I will take his word for it when he says it was good.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food002-1.jpg

He also had another cinnamon pecan roll, I ate some too and it was just as delish as the day before.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food001-1.jpg

Since we didnt like the bacon or the biscuit he ordered a side of hash browns and scrambled eggs for $4.50. It was a huge serving that we shared and they were both fresh, hot and wonderful

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food005-1.jpg

I got a nice soft butter croissant...it was perfect!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food004-1.jpg

Instead of icky unripe melon I decided to get a cup for berries for $4.50. Loaded with strawberries, blueberries and raspberries...very ripe and sweet and perfect for this hot morning

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food003-1.jpg

After breakfast we were out at the pool again until it was time to go upstairs and get ready to leave...while we were getting dressed and waiting for the bellman we watched Ratatouille...DH never saw it before and he thought it was really cute.

Ok...WCC is coming up as soon as the pictures load! What do you think we thought of it??

I have read most of your reports, but have never chimed in, but I have to agree with you on this review-Roaring Forks was the only thing we did not like about WL. It is very small, dark and not many options

We left our room and could hear the noise coming from WCC...I thought we would be in for a huge fun and games lunch....I thought wrong.

We were seated as soon as we checked in but the table was DIRECTLY in front of the entrance..it was a horrible location and there were tons of other tables but they would not move us...Right in front of the hostess desk, right in the way of everyone.....this did not please us at all but oh well lets just eat right? The host said that our server, Doc, would be right with us....ya in 15 minutes he finally showed up...again we were not happy puppies. Here is the menu:

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food006-1.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food007-1.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food008-1.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food010-1.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food011-1.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food013-1.jpg

Doc finally showed up and I had an ice tea and DH had the lemonade...I was super thirsty and drained the glass fast so I thought he would bring me the mammoth size one but he didnt, he just brought a refill....all around us people had the huge glasses but we didnt  Doc was very busy with other tables, he kinda ignored us a bit, other servers were really into being "rude" to their tables but not ours. Also every table had ketchup on it so the ketchup game was not played at all.

I asked Doc if I could get the brisket sandwich instead of pork, since they had a brisket salad? (gross), he had to check with kitchen but they were able to do it for us. He also said that since I was getting a meal and DH had the skillet we could share and he would bring as many refills as we wanted.

DH started with the creamy chicken chowder, he LOVED this .. it was full of tender white meat chicken, potatoes, onions and red peppers.... and I had the last three spoonfuls and I loved it too until I had a huge rubbery chicken bone in my mouth...that totally turned me off and I put it to the side of the bowl. Doc noticed it and took the charge off the bill....that was awful nice of him.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food009-1.jpg

Then came the cole slaw, DH really liked it, very vinegary...it was just ok for me but I am a KFC cole slaw chick.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food012-1.jpg

And the best soft yummy corn bread with butter, this was awesome!

And 4 little pots of BBQ sauce, it was ok...too sweet for me.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food016-1.jpg

Here is my brisket sandwich with icky beans and disgusting roasted veggie macaroni salad. DH loves brisket so that is why I ordered this but the meat was sooo fatty, very dry and the roll was so dry it crumbled as I cut it in half. Neither one of us enjoyed this at all.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food017-1.jpg

DH had the skillet. THe mashed potatoes were incredible, tons of flavor and just awesome. The corn, he said it was the frozen niblet style and was mushy. The chicken (white meat breast) he said was very good and not dry at all. The ribs, I ate the ribs, well no I didnt because they were not ribs...they were fat on a bone and so greasy it was a huge turn off. The sausage was disgusting, loaded with little white fat pieces that were just grisle and it was gross! DH didnt like the beans either.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food018-1.jpg

I was totally turned off the food, DH had more chicken breasts, mashed potatoes and corn bread so he left full. I was so disappointed that there were no antics going on. The did the pony races once and the kids were not into it, they didnt prance around, 2 kids fought with the ponies! No napkin twirling, no Howdy...no nothing!

Glad we got this one out of the way now and at a cheaper price because this one is off my Oct list and now I will add the Wave back in. Kathy (KatMark) I should have listened to you and skipped this place...BLECH!

So we are home, snacking on rice krispie Mickeys and hoping the next 2 months fly by so I can go back to my "HOME"

Thanks for reading you guys...if it wasnt for you I would not do these reviews!

I was really hoping it would be better for you guys than it was for us. We were seated in the "back room", but could hear everything going on in the main dining room...which was NOTHING! I'm glad we tried it, but we won't be back that is for sure.

So, start thinking about what day we're having lunch next month and where. Since you know the area (you live there), you pick.

I should have made a guess before you posted the WCC review...I was going to guess no, you did not like it! I do love your reviews though. We're headed back in December and think we're going to hit Cape May and Boma for breakfast and 'Ohana for dinner. 9 of us going though, so we'll see how the ADRs go!

well dang! It's already over...love your photos, Nicki - I swear, even when the food's bad, the pics look good. Sorry WCC wasn't better, especially the ribs - we wouldn't care so much for whether or not there was a lot of antics, but was hoping it would be a good spot for all you can eat ribs. DH just loves ribs - guess we'll have to keep looking for a good TS restaurant with BBQ ribs.

Well, we'll be there in just a couple of weeks, so hopefully I'll be able to "sustain" you during your long, long wait until October.

Thanks for a wonderful update, sorry you did not like your meal at WCC but at least you got it out of the way and schedule restaurant you want for your next trip. My husband and I never had a desire to go to WCC and I have been reading alot of bad reviews. Question for you b/c I know you go to Disney ofter, how do you feel about California Grill, Ohana and LeCellier? I would love to hear you opinion. Trying to plan our December trip. Thanks

Thanks for the WCC review. Sorry you didn't like it, but we canceled it since we're getting the QSDP for free in October. ...Decided free CS was better than paying for food :lmao: But I was a little bummed 'cause I really wanted to try WCC. After this review? Ehhhh, not so disappointed anymore!

DH requested oatmeal with brown sugar, he loves this paste, er I mean cereal and I will take his word for it when he says it was good.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food002-1.jpg

Instead of icky unripe melon I decided to get a cup for berries for $4.50. Loaded with strawberries, blueberries and raspberries...very ripe and sweet and perfect for this hot morning

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/Food003-1.jpg
I think oatmeal is paste too. I don't really eat the stuff. I only buy oats if I need them for baking, and then give the rest to my dad, since he's the only person I know who likes oatmeal. Those berries look so good right now, all my favorites.

I'm sorry to hear about WCC, I definatly won't be in a rush to try it.

Had a feeling you wouldn't like WCC. It's funny, DH and I were talking last night about our trip (only 130 days, but who's counting) and my commitment to trying as many new restaurants this trip as we can. One we have talked about is Nine Dragons. I told him we can't go there because you all hated it. He was surprised that I would let one person's review sway me. I had to explain that this isn't just any person, this is "the" MickeyNicki! :rotfl: So I told him that if you liked WCC (which we hated) I would think about going to Nine Dragons since our tastes must not jive. Isn't it nice to know that you were our after dinner conversation over a glass of wine! :upsidedow

So we still need a lunch in EPCOT for our trip. We have eaten everywhere except Nine Dragons, Norway & Marrakesh. (Haven't done Tokyo Dining but that will be dinner). Can't see us going to Norway witht he princesses with my 13 year old DS so that leaves Marrakesh. Not sure why but I am hesitant. I think it is the sweet/savory thing with the cinnamon beef & stuff. Guess I need to get over it ... it's not like we will starve if we don't like our meal there!

I agree, get it out of the way and move on to the next place :lmao: We ate at Cali Grill in June (pics in my link) and it was out of this world incredible...the atmosphere, the service and the food was totally worth the price, we loved it! Le Cellier was very good, ate there in March (pics in my link) and the filets are great but I do not need to go there all the time...once in a few years is fine with me. Ohana breakfast we both thought was awesome, I really enjoyed the dinner but DH didnt care for it much...now that I know we can get the Ohana dessert at Kona we will just go there from now on since DH prefers that place....Whatever you decide I hope you enjoy it! We will be there in Dec too....14-17, when are you going?

I was wondering why my ears were ringing :rotfl:

You know Todd always asks me why I pepper him with questions about what he thinks of the food he is eating....he doesnt understand how important it is to tell it like it is, he doesnt see why people would take my word for something instead of trying it themselves.....I have learned so much from other Disers by their pics and comments that I hope I can help other people too. Even though we all have different tastes if I can explain a flavor or something to someone and they get what I am talking about it and saves them from ordering something they will not like or vice versa, well then it is all worth it!

I can tell you we have dined at almost every restaurant on site, I think there are 30 more to go which sounds like a lot but really it isnt considering how many places there are at WDW. There have only been a few bad eggs so thats a good thing! And we know what we like and have our faves too.

We have not dined at Rose & Crown or Marrakesh yet and for some reason I dont have the desire to eat at either.....Marrakesh should be good but I am not into Lamb, but I really want to try that couscous dish! R&C, the menu doesnt really thrill me. I will probably try them both eventually so I can say I gave them a fair shot...who knows we may love em! Whichever you pick I hope you guys have a great meal and make sure you take lots of pictures for us all!

We have eaten at R&C for both dinner and lunch. I liked lunch much better. This is one of DH's favorites. Since he didn't get to come on last years trip, I am debating going there for him. He is ok either way as he is interested in trying new places as well. DS wants to try Le Cellier for lunch as we have only done dinner. This will be for New Year's Eve day so I am not sure I could even get us in! But I am also not sure I want to be completely inside. Want to enjoy the atmosphere of the Park. I had a feeling that you wouldn't like WCC. I think the people that LOVE it usually have kids and/or picy eaters, which usually means it isn't "all that..."I think you may be right. I've had friends recommend me restaurants, and say they're really good, but then I try them, and while I usually can enjoy the food, I don't think it's all that.

Out of all my favorite restaurants the only one with pretty basic food I really love is Crystal Palace, other then that my favorites are the signature restaurants and a few others.

Thanks for the pics of the menu at RF and reviews. I was really worried about it since I hadn't seen many reviews of it. My kids are big breakfast eaters but DH isn't so I figured we could let him sleep later and grab something from there before heading to the parks plus the kids LOVE hash browns.

We are spoiled too by our local Japanese place and have crossed TE off our list next hear for Tutto Italia.

We didn't really care for WCC for dinner last year for dinner either, but DH & son loved the breakfast so I am sure we will be there at least once while staying at WL.

Ooh, when I read that you and Todd were heading to WCC, I said to myself, this won't be pretty. How did I know that you wouldn't like it? I guess I've followed too many of your food reports. I ate there last week for lunch with my niece and 2 nephews. As I was waiting to order I saw the Skillet go by and some smell on it set off an alarm. Change of plans... I ordered the sliced brisket salad and the 3 teenagers ordered burgers with bottomless shakes. The salad was okay (how bad can you screw up lettuce) The kids said their burgers were fine. I thought the whole meal was just average, nothing to make me go back. The other problem was I wasn't on the dinning plan, so for $95.00 with tip I want really good food and WCC doen't have. Looking forward to more food journeys with you.

Thanks for your restaurant suggestions. We will be going from Dec 5th-11th so I will just miss you. We will be trying California Grill and The Wave since I just booked CR last week (funny part is my husband doesn't know yet). We are suppose to stay at The Swan b/c of a deal $149 a night but then with free dinning I checked for WL but got lower rate for CR with upgrading to Deluxe. We are staying at the Garden Wing but we will be going to 2 MVMCP and my son loves the monorail resorts. This is suppose to be a budget trip:rotfl::rotfl2:.

Jon and I went to Teppan Edo last year, and I vowed that I wouldn't go there again... our Hibachi Japanese place here is MUCH better (by a loooonnnng stretch!) I agree with no veggies, greasy noodles, and just too expensive.

We also went to WCC (But for breakfast) last year. They had Todd's favorite... sausage gravy and biscuits! (they did have yummy eggs too).. but the sausage was very fatty, and the bacon extremely smokey flavored. The potato wedges were okay, but not fantastic. There were also mickey waffles, that were typical waffles. We were also seated in the same section, but over toward the wall a bit (we were the only ones there for a long time!) our waitress was okay, she did some of the antics, but not all. Kinda boring and loud for me. (I'd rather do 2 days at Boma than another meal at WCC.)

The Plaza looks great! We may go there for a "split" meal... I hear you about the fries in Boston... they tend to be nice and crisp with just the right amount of salt!

I'll send you a list of our Oct. ADR days and if you want to try to meet up at one, that would be fun! (the Wave, CMC, Tony's and Kouzzina are on our list, as well as Ohana -I know it can be iffy- Yak and Yeti, Crystal palace(dinner) and Biergarten) We're sketchy on the breakfast buffets cuz Cait isn't a breakfast type of person, so I was thinking of just getting garden grocer for some muffins and breakfasty type stuff. BUT we def. have to do Boma and Akershus... at least.

Oh well, the joys of the ADR shuffle game, right... we both know how it can be!

I think we will skip the WCC breakfast too...just isnt wowing me and I agree Boma twice is a much better thing! Send me your updated list and I will send you mine..I have been doing a little tweaking here and there and I vowed I wouldnt but we both know better!

I enjoyed reading your reviews. I can't wait til your October trips. How did you like Wilderness lodge over all? And where will your next trip be taking you to?

Thank you! We really enjoyed the WL...we stayed there in 06 for our 10 year anniversary and it was gorgeous. This stay it was alot more crowded than before but we still had a great time and the place is so huge that you dont feel crowded....the rooms were great and the only negative is the CS place, way too small for all the people that the WL has.

Our next stay is Oct 22-Nov 1 at the POFQ which I actually liked better than the WL because it was so nice and quiet and relaxing....cannot wait to get back there!

Your "salad" (didn't look like a salad) at WCC, ewww, it looked gross!!!! So glad we didn't book there this time. We do want to try it though, for the antics, so maybe breakfast is the way to go!! Your berries at RF on the otherhand looked awesome! Thanks for the report:thumbsup2

The pasta salad was supposed to be roasted veggies with pasta but it was mostly onions with pasta that had a raw taste to it and one pathetic broccoli floret. DH didnt want to try it because he isnt into the antics so he was very glad that it was tame....I was the one that was bummed about no fun and games. The berries were fantastic, I had no idea they would let me order them like that but the CM said they do it all the time...I love fresh fruit!

Glad to help with the RF menu....it was a very good place for breakfast but just too small so if you can get there before 9am you should be fine...there are a few tables in the hall and out by the pool too.

Glad you dumped TE for TI...you will love it!

I wish we spent more time at WL, it is such a gorgeous huge resort...I hope you have a wonderful time there! Make sure you take the boat to and from MK...it is a great ride!

Do they have "to go" packaging at RF so I can take it back up to the room and eat on the balcony?

We ate at TI in Dec for lunch and it was one of our favorites but this time we wanted to try dinner so we could relax and take our time. Lunch took 2 hours so we didn't want to take that much time out of our day again.
We are going for my bday so I picked CG for my bday dinner plus we can take boat from WL to Cont. which will be great. Your Wave review makes me want to try that one too. Have you ever eaten at Artist's Point?

We will have 9 days/8 nights at WL so we will hopefully have plenty of time to explore the hotel. We would like to take the tour and with any luck we will get to be the Flag Family of the day.

thanks again for all the reviews.

Yes they have lids for the breakfast platters and bags for the baked goods....the balcony is very small so it might not fit more than 2 people. I wish my TI lunch was more relaxing, the waiter was rushing me to death!

Have a wonderful time at the WL!

I thought so too! When we were talking she picked up on my being from Naples and coming to WDW alot, DH on business trips etc and she said, You are MickeyNicki right? DH just about fell of his seat!

Tell you what, the aroma from WCC was yummy so I was really hoping the food would be too...but it didnt live up to the smell :confused3

Loved your reviews! And I'm sorry you didn't have a good time WCC. I've been there twice and have always had a great experience. The dinner at The Wave looked delicious!! I hope to try that restaurant some day. :)

Thanks for the great dining report, Nicki! :thumbsup2 I had been wondering if we should try WCC for the next trip, but just wasn't sure. Your report convinced me to leave it off and make room for a better choice. Can't wait to hear about the October trip!

Hi Nicki! I can't believe I missed this. But I was in Disney at the same time you were there! We got there on Aug 12th and were there until Aug 21. The Saturday you were there I think we were at Typhoon Lagoon and on Sunday we went to Animal Kingdom so no chance for our paths to cross. There's always October, which isn't too far away now. I was so bummed when I got back that I started the countdown for that trip!

Once again, great reviews! The Wave looks so good -- I am looking forward to trying it in October!

Are you going to do a pre-dining report for October? I need something to keep me going until then:goodvibes

:rotfl: Your DH is like mine. I will be told no by someone and then he goes in and gets us what we need. Last week Tuesday we went to Fantasmic and there were gnats EVERYWHERE and we still had about an hour before Fantasmic started. My DD has allergies and they were acting up because of the gnats, so DH went and talked to a CM and she told us that we can get a blue ticket and we can come back 15 or so minutes before the show started. She said obviously we would not get our seats back. So we go back later and DH sees the same CM and goes and talks to her, she remembers us and works some magic and get us some seats. :thumbsup2 If it was me we would of been standing. :lmao:

I am sorry you did not like WCC. We went on Thursday and really enjoyed it. The last time we went my nephew got sick and he got sick again this time. :confused3
Thanks again for all your reviews.

Nicki, your reviews always put a huge smile on our faces... They are so fun to read ! I hope you know there are lots of folks out there that really enjoy them. It helps to make our LONG wait until our Dec. trip to The World a little more bearable.

Plus, it's nice to "meet" another KFC cole slaw fan. I've been known to wait in their drive-thru for 10 min just to get a tub or two. :thumbsup2

Thanks for taking the time to post these great reviews.

What is it with hubbies? They think they have the magic touch to fix everything...but it is useless on lotto tickets :lmao:

I think that WCC is on our do not do again list...which is a bummer because the corn bread was sooo darn tasty!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I am so happy that people enjoy reading about our adventures and hopefully we eat at places that others might want to try so they can get an idea for the flavor of the food and atmosphere...plus menus change all the time and when I read another Diser's review and see a new menu pic I am thrilled!

Oh dont get me going on KFC......my favorite fast food vice in all the land...uh can I get a bucket of skin with my cole slaw? :worship:

Yes, October is defintely coming soon! I was not that depressed about coming home from this last trip since I knew the October one was so close. I don't know what I'm going to do after the October trip since I don't have another one planned until next May:eek: Might have to sneak one in before then...

Very much looking forward to your next reviews! I think I am there before you so hopefully when I come home I can enjoy reading your live reviews! I think our paths will cross a bit so hopefully we can meet up for a drink. I'm there 10/17-10/23. Cant wait!!
